divine_a or_o civil_a now_o reverend_a father_n i_o take_v religious_a and_o civil_a honour_n to_o be_v as_o different_a in_o their_o nature_n and_o kind_n as_o god_n and_o man_n be_v therefore_o i_o humble_o inquire_v of_o you_o which_o of_o these_o two_o sort_n of_o honour_n do_v this_o trent-catechism_n say_v the_o angel_n refuse_v as_o not_o they_o but_o god_n due_a only_a and_o what_o honour_n be_v it_o that_o the_o angel_n be_v willing_a to_o have_v receive_v be_v it_o religious_a or_o civil_a and_o whatever_o honour_n it_o be_v can_v you_o prove_v from_o scripture_n that_o the_o book_n about_o so_o important_a a_o matter_n do_v not_o look_v well_o i_o appeal_v to_o you_o reverend_a father_n whether_o it_o have_v not_o real_o be_v more_o fair_a and_o honest_a intelligible_a and_o instructive_a when_o the_o author_n of_o this_o catechism_n be_v treat_v of_o honour_v god_n the_o angel_n etc._n etc._n plain_o to_o have_v tell_v we_o what_o kind_n and_o degree_n of_o creator_n why_o shall_v we_o invocate_v and_o pray_v unto_o they_o what_o sacrilege_n as_o well_o as_o folly_n be_v this_o but_o reverend_a father_n if_o this_o be_v not_o the_o true_a meaning_n of_o these_o two_o text_n i_o humble_o inquire_v of_o you_o what_o be_v the_o infallible_a sense_n of_o they_o and_o how_o i_o may_v be_v infallible_o certain_a that_o what_o you_o say_v be_v the_o sense_n they_o pray_v for_o we_o now_o not_o to_o dispute_v with_o you_o about_o this_o consequence_n let_v i_o only_o humble_o ask_v you_o whether_o the_o jew_n under_o the_o law_n either_o in_o their_o too_o and_o yet_o if_o you_o can_v prove_v that_o the_o jew_n pray_v to_o and_o invocate_v they_o as_o we_o now_o do_v they_o and_o the_o bless_a saint_n i_o beseech_v you_o how_o do_v it_o follow_v that_o because_o angel_n and_o saint_n pray_v for_o we_o man_n that_o therefore_o we_o be_v to_o pray_v to_o they_o but_o in_o good_a earnest_n reverend_a father_n be_v not_o the_o true_a question_n but_o not_o evil_a be_v likewise_o to_o be_v worship_v together_o with_o god_n so_o that_o i_o humble_o ask_v what_o signify_v to_o any_o rational_a man_n that_o argument_n of_o the_o council_n of_o trent_n viz._n that_o it_o be_v good_a and_o profitable_a humble_o to_o pray_v to_o the_o saint_n unless_o we_o can_v show_v plain_o that_o god_n have_v command_v it_o be_v the_o authority_n of_o a_o be_v it_o to_o pray_v to_o they_o at_o all_o what_o shall_v we_o answer_v to_o god_n for_o thus_o rob_v he_o of_o those_o perfection_n peculiar_a to_o his_o infinite_a essence_n and_o what_o will_v it_o avail_v we_o at_o the_o great_a day_n to_o say_v lord_z we_o give_v but_o a_o inferior_a degree_n of_o religious_a worship_n to_o some_o of_o thy_o creature_n which_o we_o believe_v more_o excellent_a than_o other_o and_o thy_o dear_a friend_n when_o at_o the_o same_o time_n the_o angry_a and_o jealous_a god_n shall_v tell_v we_o that_o he_o have_v plain_o reveal_v to_o we_o that_o every_o part_n and_o degree_n of_o religious_a worship_n be_v due_a only_o to_o he_o and_o that_o prayer_n be_v a_o principal_a part_n of_o that_o worship_n that_o be_v peculiar_a to_o he_o i_o say_v reverend_a father_n what_o will_v become_v of_o we_o when_o we_o shall_v be_v charge_v with_o give_v part_n of_o that_o honour_n and_o worship_n though_o never_o so_o inferior_a and_o for_o god_n sake_n too_o to_o the_o creature_n which_o be_v only_o due_a to_o god_n the_o creator_n this_o be_v a_o matter_n of_o vast_a consequence_n and_o therefore_o i_o humble_o and_o earnest_o beg_v you_o to_o give_v i_o a_o full_a answer_n for_o my_o mind_n and_o conscience_n be_v extreme_o perplex_v about_o it_o i_o have_v a_o great_a respect_n for_o the_o authority_n of_o our_o church_n but_o i_o must_v needs_o tell_v you_o reverend_a father_n that_o i_o begin_v to_o have_v a_o far_o great_a regard_n to_o the_o authority_n of_o god._n quere_z ix_o but_o reverend_a father_n i_o must_v trouble_v quere_z xv._o farther_n i_o inquire_v of_o you_o reverend_a father_n whether_o god_n intend_v by_o the_o come_n of_o christ_n to_o root_v idolatry_n out_o of_o the_o world_n if_o he_o do_v as_o i_o hope_v you_o will_v say_v he_o do_v whether_o it_o be_v possible_a for_o a_o rational_a man_n to_o think_v that_o as_o one_o effectual_a mean_n to_o that_o end_n our_o saviour_n ever_o design_v to_o creature_n and_o image-worship_n only_o rectify_v man_n notion_n and_o opinion_n about_o it_o and_o change_v their_o country_n god_n into_o heavenly_a saint_n and_o angel_n and_o the_o b._n virgin_n
