put_v even_o the_o babylonish_n garment_n as_o you_o will_v needs_o call_v the_o surplice_n upon_o their_o back_n and_o more_o than_o that_o to_o wear_v the_o very_a rag_n of_o the_o whore_n the_o god_n to_o direct_v their_o conscience_n no_o no_o it_o be_v not_o their_o conscience_n but_o their_o credit_n which_o then_o lie_v at_o stake_n n.c._n why_o shall_v you_o think_v so_o c._n because_o i_o have_v hear_v some_o of_o they_o acknowledge_v they_o do_v not_o scruple_n what_o we_o do_v but_o think_v it_o unhandsome_a for_o they_o to_o do_v it_o sometime_o they_o put_v it_o in_o a_o more_o be_v put_v to_o shame_v for_o god_n sake_n which_o be_v indeed_o true_a glory_n and_o there_o be_v little_a of_o god_n among_o they_o that_o seek_v not_o peace_n though_o on_o those_o term_n beside_o there_o can_v no_o account_n be_v give_v of_o their_o behaviour_n since_o in_o cherish_v this_o fancy_n among_o you_o or_o suffer_v it_o to_o grow_v that_o conformity_n be_v unlawful_a unless_o it_o enjoin_v to_o be_v do_v or_o not_o do_v as_o if_o it_o be_v the_o will_n &_o command_v of_o god_n he_o shall_v be_v so_o serve_v when_o it_o be_v a_o mere_a constitution_n of_o the_o will_n of_o man_n than_o a_o will-worship_n be_v erect_v now_o i_o be_o sure_a you_o will_v not_o make_v we_o guilty_a of_o the_o first_o fort_n of_o will-worship_n because_o none_o be_v more_o against_o it_o than_o we_o as_o for_o the_o second_o our_o church_n have_v declare_v to_o all_o the_o world_n that_o none_o of_o the_o thing_n you_o boggle_v at_o be_v impose_v under_o the_o notion_n of_o necessary_a or_o religious_a in_o themselves_o or_o as_o command_v by_o god_n but_o be_v of_o a_o indifferent_a nature_n and_o only_o use_v as_o decent_a and_o comely_a in_o the_o judgement_n of_o the_o present_a governor_n who_o can_v alter_v these_o thing_n and_o constitute_v something_o else_o in_o the_o room_n if_o they_o see_v it_o fit_a which_o they_o can_v not_o pretend_v to_o do_v they_o think_v they_o necessary_a but_o then_o as_o our_o church_n be_v not_o guilty_a of_o will-worship_n in_o the_o apostle_n sense_n so_o on_o the_o other_o side_n i_o know_v not_o how_o to_o excuse_v those_o from_o that_o very_a guilt_n who_o oppose_v what_o be_v ordain_v among_o we_o as_o unlawful_a and_o forbid_v we_o to_o use_v those_o rite_n and_o order_n because_o sinful_a thing_n for_o they_o make_v that_o necessary_a to_o be_v forbear_v and_o leave_v undo_v which_o god_n have_v not_o make_v so_o but_o leave_v indifferent_a and_o so_o they_o in_o effect_n condemn_v those_o as_o sinner_n who_o god_n acquit_v from_o
preach_v if_o you_o listen_v c._n if_o i_o shall_v think_v so_o i_o shall_v run_v into_o the_o company_n of_o those_o proud_a and_o high-minded_a man_n who_o i_o now_o speak_v of_o i_o can_v only_o repeat_v a_o good_a sermon_n to_o you_o which_o i_o have_v hear_v n._n c._n you_o will_v have_v i_o preach_v or_o at_o least_o make_v a_o piece_n of_o a_o sermon_n for_o you_o tell_v i_o you_o will_v godly_a or_o to_o those_o who_o we_o esteem_v so_o or_o which_o be_v all_o one_o you_o may_v consider_v whether_o those_o opposite_a quality_n wherein_o i_o tell_v you_o the_o power_n of_o godliness_n consist_v be_v to_o be_v find_v most_o among_o your_o or_o our_o godly_a always_o carry_v this_o in_o your_o mind_n that_o we_o do_v not_o call_v all_o they_o godly_a who_o be_v of_o our_o party_n as_o you_o be_v wont_a to_o do_v our_o minister_n i_o assure_v you_o will_v not_o allow_v they_o to_o enjoy_v this_o name_n who_o be_v lover_n of_o themselves_o covetous_a boaster_n proud_a false_a a_o sudden_a this_o be_v a_o thing_n which_o have_v make_v i_o fear_v you_o want_v at_o least_o a_o great_a deal_n of_o the_o power_n of_o godliness_n that_o you_o never_o keep_v a_o day_n together_o and_o hear_v the_o word_n c._n alas_o how_o shall_v i_o guess_v at_o your_o meaning_n when_o as_o i_o think_v you_o will_v have_v keep_v no_o day_n but_o that_o of_o god_n appoint_v n._n c._n yes_o we_o can_v keep_v other_o day_n and_o think_v we_o ought_v at_o least_o that_o there_o be_v much_o religion_n in_o it_o c._n why_o then_o will_v you_o not_o keep_v those_o which_o your_o governor_n appoint_v have_v you_o power_n to_o appoint_v day_n and_o not_o they_o i_o be_o sorry_a to_o see_v your_o partiality_n and_o that_o you_o be_v so_o full_a of_o humour_n as_o not_o to_o do_v thing_n if_o you_o please_v every_o holiday_n but_o what_o a_o foolish_a conceit_n be_v this_o to_o think_v that_o this_o make_v a_o day_n not_o to_o be_v well_o observe_v if_o we_o want_v a_o sermon_n this_o be_v a_o piece_n of_o the_o superstition_n i_o tell_v you_o of_o for_o be_v it_o not_o always_o the_o chief_a design_n of_o those_o day_n we_o observe_v to_o acknowledge_v god_n to_o praise_v he_o in_o all_o his_o wonderful_a work_n to_o meditate_v on_o his_o admirable_a mercy_n in_o send_v his_o son_n in_o give_v he_o to_o die_v for_o we_o in_o raise_v he_o from_o the_o dead_a in_o send_v holy_a scripture_n the_o read_v or_o on_o the_o sermon_n we_o hear_v the_o lord_n day_n before_o but_o we_o must_v needs_o have_v a_o new_a sermon_n or_o else_o think_v god_n be_v not_o glorify_v nor_o well_o please_v i_o be_o amaze_v at_o the_o gross_a absurdity_n of_o such_o fancy_n n._n c._n you_o may_v be_v so_o but_o we_o shall_v never_o leave_v they_o nor_o come_v to_o church_n till_o you_o have_v more_o than_o common_a prayer_n on_o those_o day_n c._n i_o can_v understand_v any_o reason_n for_o that_o resolution_n for_o if_o you_o be_v not_o satisfy_v with_o our_o service_n but_o yet_o must_v needs_o have_v something_o else_o why_o do_v you_o not_o come_v to_o the_o public_a prayer_n &_o praise_n first_o and_o then_o make_v up_o their_o defect_n as_o you_o conceive_v in_o your_o private_a meeting_n or_o why_o do_v you_o not_o seek_v and_o endeavour_v that_o these_o day_n may_v be_v keep_v more_o religious_o see_v public_a praising_n god_n be_v far_o better_a than_o private_a and_o do_v he_o more_o honour_n in_o the_o world_n for_o my_o part_n i_o very_o think_v and_o i_o speak_v it_o sincere_o that_o if_o you_o will_v come_v to_o church_n and_o there_o join_v in_o the_o public_a service_n of_o god_n and_o then_o go_v home_o and_o spend_v some_o other_o part_n of_o the_o day_n in_o catechise_v your_o child_n instruct_v your_o servant_n teach_v they_o among_o other_o matter_n how_o to_o use_v the_o liberty_n you_o then_o allow_v they_o discreet_o and_o sober_o and_o in_o visit_v invite_a or_o relieve_v your_o poor_a neighbour_n it_o will_v be_v a_o thing_n far_o more_o acceptable_a to_o god_n and_o more_o for_o the_o honour_n of_o christian_a religion_n and_o the_o good_a of_o soul_n than_o a_o whole_a day_n of_o prayer_n and_o hear_v sermon_n n._n c._n i_o be_o not_o yet_o of_o that_o mind_n c._n why_o look_v over_o all_o the_o family_n you_o know_v and_o see_v if_o many_o of_o they_o be_v not_o miserable_o neglect_v whilst_o their_o master_n and_o mistress_n be_v keep_v day_n as_o you_o call_v it_o and_o then_o tell_v i_o whether_o they_o spend_v their_o time_n to_o so_o much_o profit_n and_o true_a comfort_n as_o i_o will_v have_v they_o n._n c._n i_o think_v some_o may_v be_v too_o negligent_a c._n why_o do_v not_o your_o minister_n chide_v they_o and_o exhort_v the_o good_a woman_n to_o keep_v more_o at_o home_n &_o not_o under_o a_o notion_n of_o religion_n neglect_v their_o necessary_a duty_n it_o be_v easy_a to_o tell_v you_o of_o some_o who_o be_v the_o worst_a wife_n and_o mother_n and_o mistress_n in_o the_o parish_n mere_o upon_o this_o account_n that_o most_o of_o their_o time_n have_v be_v take_v up_o in_o gad_v about_o to_o those_o private_a exercise_n sometime_o you_o be_v mighty_o offend_v at_o our_o holiday_n upon_o this_o account_n that_o they_o take_v up_o too_o much_o of_o man_n time_n from_o their_o business_n &_o yet_o you_o can_v be_v content_a to_o see_v a_o day_n set_v apart_o every_o week_n if_o not_o often_o by_o yourselves_o to_o the_o great_a damage_n of_o many_o family_n and_o so_o when_o the_o fit_a be_v upon_o you_o we_o be_v tell_v that_o magistrate_n ought_v not_o thing_n to_o ruin_n which_o be_v the_o easy_a thing_n in_o the_o world_n the_o work_n of_o ignorance_n and_o confidence_n and_o as_o one_o of_o our_o minister_n say_v the_o pastime_n of_o the_o devil_n and_o the_o employment_n of_o his_o child_n of_o who_o we_o may_v speak_v in_o the_o apostle_n word_n rom._n 3.16_o destruction_n and_o misery_n be_v in_o their_o way_n and_o the_o way_n of_o peace_n have_v they_o not_o know_v in_o order_n to_o this_o you_o disgrace_v the_o bishop_n undervalue_n if_o not_o despise_v all_o our_o minister_n revile_v the_o common-prayer_n accuse_v we_o of_o superstition_n popery_n anti-christianism_a and_o what_o not_o you_o everywhere_o divulge_v and_o spread_v abroad_o the_o fault_n of_o any_o of_o the_o clergy_n and_o rejoice_v to_o hear_v or_o tell_v a_o story_n of_o any_o drunken_a parson_n as_o you_o be_v wont_a to_o call_v the_o best_a of_o they_o by_o way_n of_o derision_n nay_o you_o have_v more_o favour_n and_o kindness_n for_o wild_a and_o fanatic_a people_n who_o undermine_v the_o very_a foundation_n of_o religion_n than_o for_o we_o n.c._n no_o more_o of_o this_o i_o pray_v you_o c._n i_o shall_v rather_o say_v to_o you_o let_v we_o hear_v no_o more_o of_o this_o and_o i_o shall_v rejoice_v and_o be_v ready_a to_o correspond_v with_o you_o in_o all_o office_n of_o love_n and_o kindness_n n.c._n belike_o you_o can_v love_v one_o of_o the_o spirit_n will_v over-bear_a all_o sober_a reason_n and_o impose_v all_o their_o fond_a opinion_n on_o we_o make_v the_o poor_a people_n believe_v that_o they_o be_v god_n only_a favourite_n approve_v of_o those_o who_o for_o the_o sake_n of_o their_o party_n be_v content_a to_o dissemble_v it_o if_o not_o favour_v their_o impudent_a pretence_n for_o we_o know_v well_o enough_o how_o like_a they_o be_v in_o many_o thing_n to_o s._n paul_n formal_a christian_n especial_o in_o this_o one_o part_n of_o their_o character_n that_o they_o be_v despiser_n of_o those_o that_o be_v good_a a_o thing_n i_o will_v by_o no_o mean_n be_v guilty_a of_o and_o therefore_o hope_v you_o will_v not_o suspect_v my_o esteem_n of_o you_o n._n c._n i_o be_o glad_a you_o be_v so_o charitable_o dispose_v and_o be_o the_o more_o please_v because_o i_o think_v you_o have_v look_v upon_o we_o with_o the_o great_a detestation_n in_o the_o world_n c._n i_o have_v already_o tell_v you_o that_o we_o do_v not_o think_v you_o all_o of_o a_o kind_n though_o now_o you_o flock_v together_o there_o be_v some_o of_o your_o minister_n for_o instance_n who_o i_o believe_v be_v of_o a_o humble_a spirit_n quiet_a and_o peaceable_a in_o the_o land_n desire_v unity_n and_o accord_n grieve_v for_o the_o breach_n of_o it_o and_o be_v so_o far_o from_o condemn_v those_o that_o be_v satisfy_v to_o do_v what_o the_o law_n require_v that_o they_o be_v sorry_a they_o can_v contribute_v to_o the_o common_a peace_n by_o do_v the_o same_o upon_o which_o account_n they_o go_v as_o far_o as_o they_o can_v and_o conform_v to_o public_a order_n in_o all_o thing_n wherein_o they_o be_v satisfy_v and_o be_v tender_a of_o break_v any_o law_n and_o when_o they_o can_v obey_v they_o do_v not_o rail_v seek_v to_o preserve_v themselves_o not_o by_o disgrace_v but_o
a_o separation_n and_o one_o thing_n more_o desire_n to_o learn_v of_o they_o which_o be_v whether_o those_o thing_n that_o any_o of_o they_o have_v suffer_v be_v not_o the_o effect_n and_o punishment_n of_o their_o separation_n and_o not_o the_o cause_n of_o it_o as_o for_o any_o restraint_n the_o law_n have_v lay_v upon_o their_o liberty_n they_o be_v nothing_o comparable_a to_o
