when_o you_o place_v a_o great_a necessity_n in_o it_o than_o there_o be_v as_o if_o salvation_n or_o church-communion_n lay_v upon_o your_o conceit_n whereas_o god_n have_v make_v the_o point_n that_o be_v of_o necessity_n to_o salvation_n to_o be_v few_o and_o plain_a direct_v 7._o when_o you_o look_v on_o the_o sin_n and_o misery_n of_o the_o world_n and_o see_v small_a hope_n of_o its_o recovery_n look_v up_o by_o faith_n to_o that_o better_a world_n where_o all_o be_v light_a and_o love_n and_o peace_n and_o pray_v for_o that_o come_n of_o christ_n when_o all_o this_o sin_n shall_v be_v bring_v to_o judgement_n and_o wisdom_n and_o godliness_n be_v full_o justify_v before_o all_o the_o world_n let_v the_o badness_n of_o this_o world_n drive_v up_o your_o heart_n to_o that_o prepare_v here_o for_o the_o thing_n above_o we_o have_v no_o more_o reason_n to_o judge_n god_n to_o be_v unmerciful_a because_o this_o low_a world_n be_v so_o bad_a than_o we_o have_v to_o judge_v the_o king_n unmerciful_a when_o we_o look_v into_o the_o common_a jail_n nor_o to_o judge_v of_o his_o government_n by_o the_o rogue_n in_o a_o jail_n but_o by_o his_o court_n and_o all_o the_o subject_n of_o his_o kingdom_n if_o god_n shall_v forsake_v no_o place_n but_o hell_n of_o all_o his_o creation_n you_o can_v not_o grudge_v at_o he_o as_o unmerciful_a and_o it_o be_v a_o very_a hard_a question_n whether_o this_o earth_n and_o the_o air_n about_o it_o be_v not_o the_o place_n of_o hell_n when_o you_o consider_v that_o the_o devil_n be_v cast_v down_o from_o heaven_n and_o refer_v to_o all_o the_o three_o first_o petition_n do_v set_v the_o heavenly_a church_n before_o we_o as_o the_o pattern_n of_o that_o obedience_n to_o the_o will_n of_o god_n which_o both_o we_o and_o all_o the_o world_n must_v imitate_v and_o pray_v to_o god_n that_o we_o may_v imitate_v thy_n will_n be_v do_v on_o earth_n as_o it_o be_v do_v in_o heaven_n here_o christ_n require_v all_o christian_n in_o prayer_n to_o look_v up_o to_o the_o heavenly_a society_n and_o to_o consider_v how_o they_o do_v the_o will_n of_o god_n and_o to_o make_v it_o their_o pattern_n and_o in_o their_o daily_a prayer_n as_o man_n that_o long_o for_o their_o celestial_a perfection_n to_o pray_v that_o they_o may_v become_v their_o imitator_n even_o as_o the_o scholar_n in_o the_o low_a form_n in_o the_o school_n must_v look_v at_o those_o in_o the_o high_a form_n and_o desire_n and_o endeavour_v to_o attain_v to_o their_o degree_n you_o see_v they_o that_o this_o be_v a_o command_v ordinary_a duty_n direct_v 7._o consider_v next_o wherein_o it_o be_v that_o your_o converse_n with_o angel_n and_o the_o perfect_v spirit_n of_o the_o just_a consist_v that_o you_o may_v neither_o by_o your_o mistake_n neglect_v it_o nor_o carry_v it_o too_o far_o i._n negative_o 1._o it_o be_v not_o a_o deify_v they_o as_o the_o heathen_a do_v their_o hero_n and_o their_o divi_z they_o be_v still_o but_o god_n minister_n and_o must_v have_v nothing_o ascribe_v to_o they_o of_o the_o divine_a prerogative_n 2._o nor_o do_v it_o consist_v in_o build_v temple_n and_o altar_n to_o their_o honour_n which_o savour_v at_o least_o of_o a_o compliance_n with_o idolatry_n 3._o nor_o do_v it_o at_o all_o consist_v in_o pray_v to_o they_o 1._o because_o as_o we_o know_v that_o they_o be_v not_o omnipresent_v or_o omniscient_a so_o 2._o we_o know_v not_o at_o all_o when_o they_o be_v present_a and_o when_o they_o do_v hear_v we_o and_o when_o not_o 3._o nor_o do_v we_o know_v which_o of_o they_o it_o be_v that_o be_v at_o any_o time_n present_a with_o we_o 4._o nor_o have_v we_o any_o precept_n precedent_n promise_n or_o other_o encouragement_n to_o such_o prayer_n in_o god_n word_n but_o rather_o much_o to_o keep_v we_o from_o it_o 4._o nor_o yet_o be_v it_o in_o desire_v they_o to_o pray_v for_o we_o for_o that_o which_o be_v their_o duty_n they_o better_o know_v than_o we_o and_o it_o be_v little_a that_o we_o know_v of_o their_o capacity_n or_o opportunity_n and_o we_o have_v no_o word_n of_o god_n neither_o to_o encourage_v we_o to_o this_o 5._o nor_o do_v it_o consist_v in_o choose_v any_o one_o of_o they_o above_o the_o rest_n for_o our_o guardian_n and_o protector_n and_o so_o commit_v ourselves_o to_o their_o care_n for_o we_o have_v no_o reason_n to_o be_v so_o presumptuous_a as_o to_o think_v that_o we_o have_v the_o choice_n of_o our_o own_o protector_n or_o that_o it_o be_v a_o matter_n at_o all_o refer_v to_o we_o or_o that_o they_o will_v undertake_v it_o ever_o the_o more_o for_o our_o choice_n 6._o nor_o yet_o may_v we_o pretend_v to_o know_v what_o particular_a saint_n or_o angel_n be_v depute_v of_o god_n to_o our_o protection_n for_o there_o be_v not_o the_o least_o discovery_n of_o it_o in_o nature_n or_o in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o he_o that_o pretend_v extraordinary_a revelation_n of_o it_o must_v be_v sure_a to_o prove_v it_o 7._o nor_o may_v we_o pray_v for_o they_o as_o if_o they_o be_v in_o purgatory_n or_o in_o any_o misery_n or_o danger_n which_o do_v need_v our_o prayer_n for_o they_o for_o we_o have_v neither_o reason_n to_o believe_v the_o thing_n nor_o any_o precept_n or_o encouragement_n to_o the_o work_n and_o as_o all_o these_o seven_o be_v unlawful_a thing_n so_o these_o also_o that_o follow_n must_v be_v meddle_v
