other_o mean_n to_o reclaim_v man_n from_o idolatry_n heresy_n or_o any_o sin_n and_o to_o win_v they_o to_o the_o obedience_n of_o the_o gospel_n but_o spiritual_a viz._n the_o preach_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o church_n censure_n 2._o but_o the_o power_n of_o the_o magistrate_n be_v such_o as_o do_v furnish_v they_o with_o authority_n to_o lay_v command_n on_o man_n to_o urge_v they_o to_o what_o be_v good_a and_o punishment_n to_o reclaim_v from_o evil_a it_o be_v no_o wonder_n then_o that_o the_o apostle_n will_v not_o intrude_v into_o a_o power_n which_o be_v not_o give_v they_o which_o yet_o magistrate_n may_v use_v as_o their_o proper_a right_n 3._o the_o apostle_n do_v not_o put_v forth_o any_o coactive_a power_n against_o the_o foul_a sin_n of_o whoredom_n drunkenness_n theft_n etc._n etc._n to_o pun●sh_n they_o with_o bodily_a punishment_n or_o to_o urge_v man_n to_o justice_n temperance_n chastity_n but_o only_o by_o word_n and_o exhortatione_fw-la dissuade_v from_o such_o sin_n and_o persuade_v to_o the_o contrary_a vertue●_z if_o therefore_o magistrate_n may_v not_o in_o religious_a affair_n go●_n beyond_o this_o practice_n of_o the_o apostle_n in_o the_o use_n of_o their_o power_n neither_o may_v they_o use_v their_o power_n for_o the_o punishment_n of_o sin_n against_o the_o second_o table_n or_o by_o law_n encourage_v to_o the_o moral_a they_o to_o a_o ready_a and_o willing_a obedience_n such_o violent_a and_o constrain_a obedience_n come_v not_o from_o the_o command_n but_o from_o the_o indisposition_n of_o the_o command_v party_n to_o be_v just_a and_o equal_a and_o for_o the_o common_a good_a and_o what_o let_v but_o that_o some_o constraint_n with_o wisdom_n and_o moderation_n may_v be_v use_v in_o religious_a matter_n since_o it_o be_v a_o thing_n most_o just_a and_o righteous_a and_o for_o the_o common_a good_a both_o civil_a and_o spiritual_a that_o idolatry_n and_o heresy_n be_v suppress_v and_o that_o the_o people_n do_v attend_v the_o preach_n of_o the_o word_n and_o god●_z service_n in_o pray_v to_o and_o prayise_v he_o 4._o the_o motion_n may_v at_o first_o be_v violent_a but_o afterward_o become_v very_o voluntary_a what_o a_o do_v be_v there_o at_o first_o to_o bring_v a_o bullock_n to_o the_o yoke_n or_o a_o colt_n to_o the_o saddle_n when_o at_o length_n the_o o●e_n willing_o come_v to_o treat_v of_o but_o last_o this_o make_v as_o much_o against_o all_o correction_n of_o child_n and_o all_o law-making_n about_o matter_n of_o the_o second_o table_n as_o against_o coercive_a law_n in_o religion_n for_o there_o they_o force_v child_n and_o man_n with_o a_o violent_a motion_n as_o much_o as_o here_o and_o it_o utter_o impeach_v the_o course_n of_o the_o godly_a king_n asa_n and_o josiah_n in_o their_o reform_n of_o religion_n as_o take_v such_o course_n as_o can_v only_o force_v the_o outward_a man_n with_o a_o violent_a and_o preternatural_a motion_n who_o yet_o be_v for_o such_o their_o practice_n praise_v in_o the_o scripture_n obj_fw-la but_o the_o gospel_n natural_o begin_v with_o illighten_v the_o understanding_n then_o persuade_v the_o will_n etc._n etc._n and_o the_o sum_n of_o the_o covenant_n be_v to_o write_v the_o law_n in_o the_o heart_n ans._n this_o argument_n as_o some_o other_o before_o proceed_v upon_o a_o false_a supposition_n 1._o it_o surmise_v utter_o untrue_a and_o the_o course_n which_o by_o those_o that_o plead_v for_o the_o magistrate_n power_n in_o this_o thing_n be_v commend_v to_o
