acknowledge_v no_o power_n give_v by_o the_o act_n of_o ordination_n for_o i_o be_o willing_a to_o consider_v his_o cause_n free_a from_o the_o inconvenience_n of_o his_o management_n but_o either_o god_n immediate_o without_o any_o humane_a interposition_n in_o the_o give_v it_o but_o only_o in_o the_o accept_n it_o consequent_o the_o extent_n of_o this_o power_n must_v be_v know_v by_o inquire_v not_o into_o the_o mind_n of_o the_o accepter_n but_o of_o the_o giver_n of_o it_o and_o the_o mind_n of_o god_n the_o giver_n be_v to_o be_v know_v only_o in_o the_o scripture_n 7._o that_o that_o god_n will_v himself_o give_v it_o immediate_o 8._o that_o person_n authorize_v have_v not_o only_a power_n to_o believe_v what_o they_o take_v to_o be_v the_o sense_n of_o the_o scripture_n though_o different_a from_o the_o sense_n of_o ordinary_a ecclesiastical_a governor_n but_o also_o to_o practice_v their_o different_a sense_n at_o least_o so_o far_o as_o their_o authority_n extend_v and_o therefore_o if_o a_o bishop_n or_o his_o whole_a presbytery_n whether_o in_o irregular_a or_o regular_a assembly_n do_v deny_v a_o presbyter_n any_o part_n of_o his_o office_n which_o indeed_o they_o never_o give_v he_o neither_o by_o any_o invalid_a nor_o on_o these_o principle_n by_o any_o valid_a act_n of_o they_o he_o may_v notwithstanding_o use_v and_o exercise_v it_o as_o give_v he_o by_o god_n immediate_o 9_o that_o every_o person_n for_o himself_o as_o he_o be_v as_o capable_a of_o understand_v those_o scripture_n which_o describe_v the_o extent_n of_o the_o power_n as_o any_o other_o though_o superior_n but_o yet_o be_v more_o conscious_a to_o himself_o of_o his_o own_o integrity_n in_o use_v mean_n to_o the_o best_a of_o his_o ability_n and_o follow_v his_o own_o conviction_n than_o any_o other_o so_o for_o the_o gift_n and_o qualification_n which_o by_o this_o hypothesis_n confer_v a_o immediate_a title_n to_o the_o office_n he_o can_v much_o better_a judge_n than_o any_o other_o because_o they_o be_v thing_n more_o within_o his_o own_o cognizance_n than_o they_o can_v be_v of_o any_o other_o so_o that_o in_o order_n to_o his_o own_o practice_n he_o must_v the_o nature_n of_o the_o thing_n or_o the_o continuance_n of_o the_o same_o reason_n and_o circumstance_n of_o its_o first_o institution_n or_o some_o express_a command_n of_o god_n in_o scripture_n that_o they_o shall_v not_o actual_o change_v it_o which_o yet_o will_v not_o prove_v a_o invalidity_n but_o only_o a_o irregularity_n in_o their_o do_n suppose_v the_o power_n not_o to_o come_v from_o god_n immediate_o but_o by_o their_o mediation_n which_o will_v be_v much_o more_o difficult_a for_o they_o to_o prove_v than_o than_o they_o be_v aware_a of_o whence_o it_o will_v further_o follow_v 11._o that_o all_o that_o other_o can_v do_v whether_o bishop_n or_o presbyter_n or_o people_n can_v be_v either_o to_o give_v any_o power_n or_o to_o inform_v any_o person_n that_o

put_v to_o it_o where_o can_v they_o find_v such_o a_o charter_n for_o the_o power_n of_o presbyter_n in_o the_o scripture_n as_o they_o speak_v of_o where_o can_v they_o find_v their_o power_n describe_v in_o any_o profess_a constitution_n concern_v it_o they_o may_v indeed_o some_o actual_a practice_n of_o presbyter_n there_o but_o will_v they_o call_v that_o a_o charter_n will_v they_o since_o it_o be_v certain_a that_o this_o power_n of_o ordain_v other_o be_v not_o give_v to_o the_o first_o divide_v presbyter_n it_o will_v follow_v plain_o that_o they_o be_v not_o make_v presbyter_n at_o all_o if_o the_o power_n of_o ordination_n be_v essential_a to_o the_o office_n of_o a_o presbyter_n and_o then_o their_o succession_n will_v fail_v as_o well_o on_o account_n of_o their_o want_n of_o true_a presbyter_n as_o of_o their_o presbyter_n want_v the_o power_n of_o ordination_n §_o fourteen_o but_o neither_o do_v i_o only_o overthrow_v their_o succession_n on_o account_n of_o their_o first_o minister_n not_o receive_v this_o power_n of_o ordain_v other_o from_o the_o bishop_n who_o ordain_v they_o but_o from_o the_o invalidity_n of_o that_o act_n by_o presbyter_n equal_a can_v they_o carry_v it_o but_o by_o plurality_n of_o suffrage_n and_o therefore_o the_o generality_n of_o their_o late_a ordination_n be_v perform_v by_o single_a over-voted_n person_n without_o the_o consent_n of_o the_o
great_a part_n of_o those_o presbytery_n of_o which_o they_o be_v original_o member_n and_o out_o of_o lawful_a assembly_n must_v on_o these_o account_n be_v not_o only_o irregular_a but_o invalid_a be_v not_o the_o person_n of_o who_o those_o charter_n speak_v and_o who_o power_n they_o be_v conceive_v to_o describe_v and_o the_o same_o be_v applicable_a also_o to_o the_o commonalty_n neither_o can_v they_o exert_v any_o power_n of_o which_o they_o may_v otherwise_o have_v be_v capable_a but_o by_o majority_n of_o vote_n and_o in_o regular_a assembly_n if_o they_o do_v it_o be_v null_a by_o valid_a to_o as_o great_a purpose_n as_o they_o can_v pretend_v to_o prove_v by_o any_o charter_n these_o be_v argument_n not_o that_o i_o know_v of_o insist_v on_o by_o jansenius_n not_o answer_v by_o voet_n or_o mr._n baxter_n not_o i_o believe_v think_v of_o or_o consider_v either_o by_o they_o or_o by_o any_o other_o of_o our_o adversary_n that_o have_v most_o accurare_o manage_v their_o
