magistrate_n a_o judge_n at_o the_o least_o it_o be_v evident_a from_o the_o seven_o verse_n and_o to_o i_o it_o seem_v not_o improbable_a that_o he_o be_v a_o 3._o king_n though_o not_o like_o such_o as_o the_o king_n of_o the_o earth_n now_o be_v who_o dominion_n be_v wide_a and_o power_n more_o absolute_a yet_o possible_a such_o as_o in_o those_o ancient_a time_n and_o in_o those_o eastern_a part_n of_o the_o world_n be_v call_v king_n viz._n a_o kind_n of_o petty_a monarch_n and_o supreme_a governor_n within_o his_o own_o territory_n though_o perhaps_o but_o of_o one_o single_a city_n with_o the_o suburb_n and_o some_o few_o neighbour_a village_n in_o the_o first_o chapter_n it_o be_v say_v that_o he_o be_v 3._o the_o great_a man_n of_o all_o the_o east_n and_o in_o this_o chapter_n he_o say_v of_o himself_o that_o 9_o when_o he_o come_v in_o presence_n the_o prince_n and_o the_o noble_n hold_v their_o tongue_n and_o that_o 25._o he_o sit_v as_o chief_a and_o dwell_v as_o a_o king_n in_o the_o army_n and_o in_o this_o verse_n he_o speak_v as_o one_o that_o wear_v a_o diadem_n or_o ornament_n 〈◊〉_d proper_a to_o king_n now_o king_n we_o know_v and_o other_o magistrate_n place_n much_o of_o their_o outward_a glory_n and_o state_n in_o their_o diadem_n and_o robe_n and_o peculiar_a vestment_n these_o thing_n strike_v a_o kind_n of_o odyss_n reverence_n into_o the_o subject_n towards_o their_o superior_a and_o add_v in_o the_o estimation_n of_o the_o people_n both_o glory_n and_o honour_n and_o majesty_n to_o the_o person_n and_o withal_o pomp_n and_o state_n and_o solemnity_n to_o the_o action_n of_o the_o wearer_n by_o this_o speech_n then_o of_o put_v on_o justice_n and_o judgement_n as_o a_o robe_n and_o diadem_n job_n show_v that_o the_o glory_n and_o pride_n which_o king_n and_o potentate_n be_v wont_a to_o take_v in_o their_o crown_n and_o sceptre_n and_o royal_a vestment_n be_v not_o more_o than_o the_o glory_n and_o honour_n which_o he_o 6._o place_v in_o do_v justice_n and_o judgement_n he_o think_v that_o be_v true_a honour_n not_o which_o reflect_v from_o these_o empty_a mark_n and_o ensign_n of_o dignity_n but_o which_o spring_v from_o those_o virtue_n whereof_o these_o be_v but_o dumb_a remembrance_n if_o we_o desire_v yet_o more_o light_a into_o the_o metaphor_n we_o may_v borrow_v some_o from_o david_n and_o it_o clothe_v he_o and_o judgement_n be_v to_o he_o what_o to_o other_o a_o robe_n and_o a_o diadem_n be_v honourable_a and_o delightful_a here_o then_o the_o magistrate_n and_o every_o officer_n of_o justice_n may_v learn_v his_o first_o 6._o principle_n and_o if_o i_o may_v so_o speak_v his_o master-duty_n and_o let_v that_o be_v the_o first_o observation_n namely_o to_o do_v justice_n and_o judgement_n with_o delight_n and_o zeal_n and_o cheerfulness_n i_o call_v it_o his_o master-duty_n because_o where_o this_o be_v once_o right_o and_o sound_o root_v in_o the_o conscience_n the_o rest_n will_v come_v on_o easy_o and_o of_o themselves_o this_o must_v be_v his_o primum_fw-la and_o his_o ultimum_fw-la the_o foremost_a of_o his_o desire_n and_o the_o utmost_a and_o low_a step_n of_o his_o care_n and_o yet_o withal_o count_v it_o the_o last_o and_o high_a rise_n of_o his_o honour_n the_o first_o thing_n we_o do_v in_o the_o morning_n before_o we_o either_o eat_v or_o drink_v or_o buckle_v about_o any_o worldly_a business_n be_v to_o put_v our_o clothes_n about_o we_o we_o say_v we_o be_v not_o ready_a till_o we_o have_v do_v that_o even_o thus_o shall_v clothe_v we_o with_o judgement_n as_o with_o a_o robe_n and_o a_o diadem_n be_v a_o thing_n in_o itself_o so_o excellent_a and_o be_v from_o it_o there_o redound_v so_o much_o glory_n to_o god_n to_o ourselves_o so_o much_o comfort_n and_o so_o much_o benefit_n unto_o other_o the_o inference_n of_o use_n from_o this_o first_o duty_n as_o also_o from_o the_o rest_n i_o omit_v for_o the_o present_a those_o that_o be_v distress_v and_o oppress_v and_o to_o help_v and_o relieve_v they_o to_o his_o power_n man_n necessity_n be_v many_o and_o of_o great_a variety_n but_o most_o of_o they_o spring_n from_o one_o of_o these_o two_o defect_n ignorance_n or_o want_v of_o skill_n and_o impotence_n or_o want_v of_o power_n here_o signify_v by_o blindness_n and_o lameness_n the_o blind_a man_n perhaps_o have_v his_o limb_n and_o strength_n to_o walk_v in_o the_o way_n if_o he_o can_v see_v it_o but_o because_o he_o want_v his_o eye_n he_o can_v neither_o find_v the_o right_a way_n nor_o spy_v the_o rub_n that_o be_v in_o it_o and_o therefore_o he_o must_v either_o sit_v still_o or_o put_v himself_o upon_o the_o necessity_n of_o a_o double_a hazard_n of_o stumble_v and_o of_o go_v wrong_n the_o lame_a man_n perhaps_o have_v his_o eye_n and_o sight_n perfect_a and_o know_v which_o way_n he_o shall_v go_v and_o see_v it_o well_o enough_o but_o because_o he_o want_v his_o limb_n he_o be_v not_o able_a to_o stir_v a_o foot_n forward_o and_o therefore_o he_o must_v have_v patience_n perforce_o and_o be_v content_a to_o sit_v still_o because_o he_o can_v go_v withal_o both_o the_o one_o and_o the_o other_o may_v perish_v unless_o some_o good_a body_n help_v they_o and_o become_v a_o guide_n to_o the_o blind_a a_o staff_n to_o the_o lame_a lead_v the_o one_o and_o support_v the_o other_o abroad_o in_o the_o world_n there_o be_v many_o in_o every_o society_n corporation_n and_o congregation_n there_o be_v some_o of_o both_o sort_n some_o blind_a some_o lame_a some_o that_o stand_v in_o need_n of_o counsel_n and_o advice_n and_o direction_n as_o the_o blind_a other_o that_o stand_v in_o need_n of_o help_n and_o assistance_n and_o support_v as_o the_o lame_a if_o there_o be_v any_o other_o beside_o these_o who_o case_n deserve_v pity_n in_o what_o kind_n soever_o it_o be_v the_o word_n poor_a comprehend_v he_o and_o make_v he_o a_o fit_a object_n for_o the_o care_n and_o compassion_n of_o the_o magistrate_n to_o each_o of_o these_o the_o magistrate_n must_v be_v a_o succourer_n to_o his_o power_n he_o must_v be_v as_o here_o job_n be_v a_o eye_n to_o the_o blind_a hic_fw-la ignorantem_fw-la dirigendo_fw-la by_o give_v sound_n and_o honest_a counsel_n the_o best_a he_o can_v to_o they_o that_o be_v simple_a or_o may_v without_o his_o help_n cause_n the_o best_a he_o can_v to_o they_o that_o be_v of_o mean_a ability_n or_o might_n without_o his_o help_n be_v easy_o overbear_v if_o there_o be_v either_o of_o these_o or_o any_o other_o defect_n which_o stand_v in_o need_n of_o a_o supply_n in_o any_o other_o man_n he_o must_v be_v as_o here_o job_n be_v a_o 10._o father_n to_o the_o poor_a indigentem_fw-la sublevando_fw-la 10._o by_o give_v convenient_a safety_n and_o protection_n the_o best_a he_o can_v to_o they_o that_o be_v destitute_a of_o help_n and_o fly_v unto_o he_o as_o to_o a_o sanctuary_n for_o shelter_n and_o for_o refuge_n in_o any_o misery_n grievance_n or_o distress_n upon_o these_o he_o must_v both_o have_v compassion_n inward_o and_o he_o must_v show_v it_o too_o outward_o affectu_fw-la and_o effectu_fw-la pity_v they_o in_o his_o heart_n and_o help_v they_o with_o his_o hand_n it_o be_v not_o enough_o for_o he_o to_o see_v the_o blind_a and_o the_o lame_a and_o the_o poor_a and_o to_o be_v sorry_a for_o they_o but_o his_o compassion_n must_v be_v real_a he_o must_v lend_v his_o eye_n to_o the_o blind_a to_o direct_v they_o and_o he_o must_v lend_v his_o foot_n to_o the_o lame_a to_o support_v they_o and_o he_o must_v pity_v the_o poor_a as_o a_o father_n do_v his_o child_n so_o pity_v they_o that_o he_o do_v something_o for_o they_o prince_n and_o judge_n and_o magistrate_n
