miracle_n by_o he_o but_o leave_v he_o at_o his_o crucifixion_n and_o fly_v up_o again_o to_o heaven_n so_o that_o according_a to_o cerinthus_n from_o the_o time_n that_o jesus_n be_v baptize_v till_o he_o be_v crucify_v the_o divinity_n be_v very_o near_o and_o intimate_o unite_v to_o he_o not_o that_o he_o be_v god_n and_o man_n in_o one_o person_n as_o the_o catholic_n faith_n teach_v

be_v concern_v for_o to_o prove_v they_o three_o in_o any_o other_o sense_n whether_o three_o modes_n or_o three_o power_n or_o three_o part_n of_o the_o same_o one_o single_a person_n be_v what_o they_o will_v have_v and_o allow_v they_o to_o be_v but_o one_o person_n and_o they_o will_v dispute_v no_o further_o nay_o will_v give_v you_o leave_v to_o call_v three_o modes_n or_o three_o name_n or_o three_o part_n of_o the_o same_o one_o person_n three_o person_n if_o you_o please_v but_o for_o the_o clear_a understanding_n of_o this_o matter_n we_o must_v consider_v by_o what_o argument_n the_o ancient_a writer_n oppose_v this_o heresy_n tertullian_n in_o opposition_n to_o praxea_n reduce_v this_o to_o a_o short_a question_n whether_o god_n have_v any_o son_n and_o who_o he_o be_v and_o how_o he_o be_v his_o son_n ibid._n for_o if_o god_n have_v a_o son_n the_o son_n must_v be_v as_o true_a and_o real_a a_o person_n as_o the_o father_n and_o father_n and_o son_n must_v be_v not_o all_o this_o reason_n from_o the_o distinct_a relation_n of_o father_n and_o son_n which_o require_v a_o real_a distinction_n of_o person_n be_v quite_o lose_v and_o whether_o this_o argument_n be_v good_a or_o no_o which_o be_v not_o the_o present_a enquiry_n it_o be_v certain_a that_o whoever_o use_v it_o if_o he_o understand_v himself_o must_v believe_v that_o father_n and_o son_n signify_v as_o true_a and_o real_a relation_n and_o as_o real_a and_o distinct_a person_n in_o the_o godhead_n as_o they_o do_v in_o human_a nature_n the_o like_a may_v be_v say_v of_o that_o other_o argument_n against_o the_o father_n and_o the_o son_n be_v one_o and_o the_o same_o person_n that_o then_o the_o same_o person_n must_v in_o order_n of_o nature_n be_v both_o before_o and_o after_o himself_o for_o he_o who_o beget_v must_v always_o in_o order_n of_o nature_n though_o not_o of_o time_n in_o a_o eternal_a generation_n be_v before_o he_o who_o be_v beget_v by_o he_o that_o as_o father_n he_o be_v before_o himself_o as_o son_n as_o son_n he_o be_v after_o himself_o as_o father_n which_o have_v be_v judicrous_a trifle_n if_o they_o have_v not_o believe_v a_o real_a substantial_a generation_n of_o the_o person_n and_o consequent_o that_o the_o son_n be_v a_o real_a substantial_a person_n for_o this_o argument_n will_v not_o hold_v in_o the_o generation_n of_o have_v the_o whole_a father_n in_o himself_o must_v be_v as_o real_a subsist_v infinite_a a_o person_n for_o there_o be_v the_o same_o reason_n of_o both_o the_o answer_n athanasius_n give_v to_o a_o sabellian_n objection_n against_o the_o substantial_a generation_n and_o subsistence_n of_o the_o word_n and_o son_n of_o god_n be_v a_o unanswerable_a proof_n what_o he_o think_v of_o this_o matter_n this_o athanasius_n first_o observe_v what_o this_o objection_n be_v level_v against_o viz._n 658._o to_o disprove_v the_o true_a and_o proper_a generation_n of_o the_o son_n his_o eternal_a procession_n from_o the_o father_n and_o subsistence_n with_o the_o father_n that_o the_o father_n do_v not_o complete_o and_o perfect_o subsist_v by_o himself_o nor_o the_o son_n complete_o and_o perfect_o subsist_v by_o himself_o this_o be_v the_o faith_n the_o sabellian_o oppose_v and_o which_o athanasius_n defend_v as_o the_o argument_n itself_o will_v assure_v we_o which_o contradict_v substantial_a birth_n and_o a_o complete_a distinct_a subsistence_n of_o the_o word_n and_o therefore_o this_o be_v what_o the_o sabellian_o take_v for_o the_o catholic_n faith_n and_o this_o be_v what_o athanasius_n defend_v who_o tell_v they_o that_o this_o be_v a_o very_a ignorant_a mistake_n 〈◊〉_d to_o think_v that_o god_n be_v circumscribe_v by_o place_n and_o to_o conceive_v the_o son_n
