comparison_n as_o odious_a betwixt_o domestic_a and_o spiritual_a servant_n see_v these_o latter_a be_v call_v overseer_n pastor_n and_o spiritual_a father_n with_o other_o term_n of_o honour_n as_o well_o as_o servant_n which_o they_o be_v in_o a_o sense_n too_o for_o the_o sake_n of_o christ_n and_o his_o gospel_n and_o as_o they_o have_v title_n of_o honour_n so_o they_o have_v privilege_n correspondent_a which_o ordinary_a servant_n have_v not_o 2._o the_o comparison_n will_v by_o no_o mean_n hold_v in_o reason_n because_o the_o mean_a of_o man_n have_v usual_o skill_n enough_o to_o make_v choice_n of_o ordinary_a servant_n fit_a for_o their_o turn_n but_o there_o be_v but_o few_o man_n in_o the_o best_a parish_n and_o in_o most_o of_o they_o not_o one_o of_o skill_n and_o knowledge_n sufficient_a to_o judge_v of_o a_o man_n whether_o he_o be_v qualify_v with_o spiritual_a gift_n and_o grace_n to_o enable_v he_o to_o serve_v they_o in_o spiritual_a thing_n 3._o suppose_v some_o man_n in_o some_o parish_n may_v be_v of_o ability_n in_o matter_n of_o knowledge_n to_o judge_v yet_o those_o that_o be_v able_a to_o judge_v in_o matter_n of_o understanding_n and_o most_o man_n that_o have_v knowledge_n in_o the_o notion_n do_v yet_o want_v grace_n in_o the_o heart_n and_o so_o it_o will_v be_v seldom_o that_o they_o will_v have_v the_o will_v to_o approve_v a_o able_a or_o a_o gracious_a man_n to_o be_v a_o preacher_n 4._o suppose_v yet_o further_o that_o the_o know_a man_n of_o a_o parish_n shall_v be_v willing_a to_o approve_v a_o know_v and_o a_o gracious_a man_n yet_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o parish_n who_o have_v a_o share_n in_o the_o suffrage_n may_v be_v of_o another_o mind_n for_o some_o respect_n of_o their_o own_o and_o pretend_v it_o will_v be_v more_o for_o the_o interest_n of_o their_o soul_n to_o have_v another_o person_n 5._o consider_v that_o parish_n be_v body_n and_o society_n of_o man_n the_o magistrate_n have_v a_o interest_n in_o they_o as_o they_o be_v a_o corporation_n or_o community_n and_o though_o man_n have_v a_o right_a to_o do_v as_o they_o will_v at_o home_n in_o private_a affair_n yet_o he_o may_v according_a to_o the_o laudable_a constitution_n of_o all_o commonweal_n interpose_v so_o far_o in_o all_o those_o thing_n wherein_o they_o act_n by_o suffrage_n as_o a_o community_n as_o to_o restrain_v they_o from_o or_o limit_v they_o in_o act_v in_o such_o matter_n which_o be_v of_o more_o immediate_a concernment_n to_o himself_o 6._o and_o therefore_o last_o though_o the_o minister_n or_o preacher_n to_o be_v approve_v be_v to_o be_v in_o some_o sense_n a_o servant_n a_o servant_n to_o the_o parish_n in_o thing_n spiritual_a yet_o he_o be_v not_o to_o be_v so_o much_o their_o servant_n as_o the_o servant_n of_o christ_n in_o the_o first_o place_n then_o be_v not_o in_o a_o private_a but_o in_o a_o public_a relation_n to_o the_o whole_a parish_n and_o upon_o a_o public_a account_n he_o in_o the_o next_o place_n be_v also_o to_o be_v repute_v the_o servant_n of_o the_o magistrate_n partly_o as_o he_o be_v to_o officiate_v on_o the_o magistrate_n behalf_n towards_o the_o community_n of_o the_o parish_n and_o partly_o because_o he_o be_v to_o have_v a_o public_a maintenance_n from_o the_o magistrate_n for_o though_o tithe_n and_o other_o duty_n arise_v out_o of_o the_o parish_n yet_o they_o be_v not_o of_o the_o legal_a propriety_n of_o the_o parishioner_n because_o the_o propriety_n have_v be_v otherwise_o ancient_o dispose_v of_o and_o settle_v by_o the_o the_o minister_n or_o preacher_n to_o be_v approve_v be_v to_o be_v their_o servant_n see_v though_o in_o one_o sense_n viz._n spiritual_o he_o be_v to_o serve_v they_o yet_o by_o reason_n of_o his_o civil_a relation_n and_o dependencie_n he_o be_v not_o their_o but_o the_o public_a servant_n of_o the_o state_n for_o the_o good_a of_o the_o parish_n in_o that_o employment_n but_o mr_n goodwin_n to_o fright_v the_o magistrate_n tell_v he_o that_o it_o be_v a_o crime_n in_o he_o to_o be_v meddle_v with_o such_o sacred_a edge-tools_a as_o the_o authoritative_a forcible_a impose_v of_o minister_n upon_o parish_n all_o this_o will_v not_o take_v off_o the_o edge_n of_o a_o religious_a magistrate_n who_o know_v that_o have_v a_o revenue_n in_o his_o hand_n to_o promote_v the_o preach_n of_o the_o gospel_n it_o be_v his_o duty_n as_o he_o be_v a_o christian_a man_n to_o do_v his_o utmost_a to_o see_v it_o well_o bestow_v that_o way_n by_o maintain_v able_a and_o gracious_a parish_n to_o receive_v he_o but_o rather_o that_o it_o be_v a_o pious_a provision_n for_o the_o parish_n by_o the_o care_n of_o authority_n nor_o let_v any_o man_n deceive_v his_o own_o heart_n by_o think_v thus_o that_o because_o when_o a_o minister_n or_o preacher_n be_v so_o send_v and_o settle_v the_o parish_n have_v no_o power_n to_o refuse_v he_o therefore_o the_o not_o have_v power_n to_o refuse_v he_o be_v all_o one_o as_o if_o he_o be_v force_v upon_o they_o for_o if_o such_o a_o construction_n may_v be_v make_v then_o by_o the_o same_o way_n it_o may_v be_v argue_v that_o when_o
