the_o godly_a which_o render_v the_o conversion_n of_o a_o formalist_n very_o difficult_a as_o 1._o the_o godly_a not_o be_v able_a to_o discern_v they_o or_o if_o they_o discern_v they_o have_v no_o warrant_n to_o separate_v from_o they_o do_v give_v they_o the_o right_a hand_n of_o fellowship_n admit_v they_o into_o their_o most_o intimate_a society_n lay_v they_o in_o their_o bosom_n and_o they_o be_v repute_v among_o the_o best_a of_o christian_n this_o mighty_o confirm_v they_o in_o their_o good_a opinion_n of_o themselves_o and_o become_v a_o occasion_n of_o harden_v they_o against_o conviction_n they_o abuse_v this_o indulgence_n of_o the_o godly_a into_o their_o own_o obduration_n and_o to_o the_o heighten_v of_o their_o security_n i_o speak_v not_o this_o as_o blame_a the_o godly_a for_o admit_v they_o for_o tare_n though_o not_o briar_n and_o thorn_n must_v grow_v among_o the_o wheat_n till_o harvest_n but_o to_o show_v what_o bid_v use_v the_o hypocrite_n make_v of_o the_o good_a esteem_n he_o have_v with_o the_o godly_a though_o perhaps_o sincere_a christian_n may_v just_o deserve_v to_o be_v blame_v for_o want_v of_o plain_a deal_n with_o such_o who_o they_o have_v just_a cause_n to_o suspect_v of_o formality_n or_o hypocrisy_n well_o this_o as_o i_o say_v harden_v the_o formalist_n in_o his_o self-conceit_n and_o set_v he_o at_o a_o further_a distance_n to_o conversion_n under_o this_o shelter_n judas_n lie_v secure_a and_o presume_v that_o his_o condition_n be_v as_o good_a as_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o apostle_n a_o formalist_n carry_v so_o smooth_o that_o the_o true_o godly_a who_o be_v always_o self-suspicious_a be_v more_o apt_a to_o suspect_v themselves_o than_o those_o with_o who_o they_o converse_v now_o the_o godly_a on_o the_o other_o hand_n be_v rich_a of_o the_o
that_o hinder_v conversion_n but_o because_o it_o be_v but_o a_o form_n and_o yet_o rest_v in_o 4._o i_o may_v add_v though_o it_o be_v not_o so_o much_o to_o the_o business_n in_o hand_n though_o formalist_n hurt_v themselves_o yet_o they_o may_v be_v and_o often_o be_v useful_a and_o beneficial_a to_o other_o whereas_o the_o profane_a person_n be_v offensive_a or_o unprofitable_a to_o all_o they_o may_v teach_v other_o though_o not_o themselves_o profaneness_n give_v occasion_n of_o stumble_v and_o offence_n to_o they_o without_o the_o formalist_n life_n carry_v some_o conformity_n to_o the_o rule_n and_o be_v so_o far_o imitable_a though_o his_o heart_n be_v naught_o and_o hypocritical_a his_o practice_n be_v good_a though_o his_o principle_n and_o end_n be_v naught_o other_o may_v see_v what_o they_o ought_v to_o do_v in_o he_o but_o the_o profane_a person_n as_o his_o heart_n be_v naught_o so_o his_o life_n be_v irregular_a not_o to_o be_v imitate_v the_o formal_a person_n pray_v hear_v etc._n etc._n may_v possible_o excite_v other_o to_o do_v that_o in_o sincerity_n which_o they_o do_v in_o hypocrisy_n their_o part_n and_o performance_n may_v be_v useful_a to_o other_o though_o accidental_o hurtful_a to_o themselves_o so_o that_o there_o be_v no_o reason_n to_o draw_v such_o a_o inference_n from_o the_o doctrine_n in_o hand_n or_o to_o suppose_v profaneness_n the_o near_a cut_n to_o conversion_n if_o any_o will_v yet_o abuse_v this_o truth_n to_o their_o own_o obduration_n in_o wicked_a and_o debauch_v course_n yet_o i_o hope_v what_o i_o have_v say_v by_o way_n of_o prevention_n will_v sufficient_o acquit_v i_o from_o the_o guilt_n of_o the_o blood_n of_o such_o soul_n now_o for_o application_n chap._n v._o the_o first_o use_n of_o the_o point_n in_o
