run_v it_o see_v when_o the_o eye_n be_v shut_v and_o sometime_o see_v not_o when_o the_o eye_n be_v wide_o open_a it_o travel_v while_o the_o body_n rest_v and_o rest_v when_o the_o body_n travel_v that_o be_v to_o say_v it_o be_v able_a of_o itself_o to_o perform_v his_o own_o action_n without_o the_o help_n of_o the_o outward_a man_n whereas_o on_o the_o contrary_a part_n the_o outward_a without_o the_o help_n of_o the_o inward_a that_o be_v to_o wit_n the_o body_n without_o the_o presence_n of_o the_o soul_n have_v neither_o sense_n move_v life_n no_o nor_o continuance_n of_o be_v in_o the_o outward_a man_n we_o have_v a_o counterfeit_n of_o the_o whole_a world_n and_o if_o you_o rip_v they_o both_o up_o by_o piecemeal_o you_o shall_v find_v a_o wonderful_a agreement_n betwixt_o they_o but_o my_o purpose_n in_o this_o book_n be_v not_o to_o treat_v of_o the_o thing_n that_o pertain_v peculiar_o to_o the_o body_n in_o the_o inward_a man_n we_o have_v a_o sum_n of_o stone_n and_o metal_n which_o have_v it_o not_o in_o sensitive_a live_a thing_n we_o find_v the_o selfsame_a virtue_n which_o work_v while_o they_o sleep_v and_o be_v after_o a_o sort_n as_o the_o plant_n and_o there_o withal_o we_o find_v another_o certain_a virtue_n or_o power_n which_o see_v hear_v smell_v taste_v and_o feel_v which_o also_o in_o many_o of_o they_o do_v hoard_v up_o the_o thing_n bring_v in_o by_o the_o sense_n which_o manner_n of_o power_n the_o plant_n be_v void_a of_o this_o do_v we_o term_v the_o sensitive_a soul_n because_o the_o effect_n thereof_o be_v discerve_v and_o execute_v by_o the_o sense_n soul_n in_o man_n we_o have_v both_o the_o quicken_n and_o the_o sensitive_a the_o former_a utter_v itself_o in_o the_o nourish_n and_o increase_v of_o he_o and_o the_o latter_a in_o the_o subtlety_n of_o sense_n and_o imagination_n where_o through_o he_o be_v both_o plant_n and_o beast_n together_o but_o yet_o moreover_o we_o see_v also_o a_o mind_n which_o consider_v and_o behold_v which_o reap_v profit_n of_o the_o thing_n that_o be_v bring_v in_o by_o the_o sense_n which_o by_o his_o see_v conceive_v that_o which_o it_o see_v not_o which_o of_o that_o which_o be_v not_o gather_v that_o which_o be_v and_o final_o which_o pull_v a_o man_n away_o both_o from_o earth_n and_o from_o all_o sensible_a thing_n yea_o and_o after_o a_o sort_n from_o himself_o too_o this_o do_v we_o call_v the_o reasonable_a soul_n and_o it_o be_v the_o thing_n that_o make_v man_n to_o be_v man_n and_o not_o a_o plant_n or_o a_o brute_n beast_n as_o the_o other_o two_o do_v and_o also_o to_o be_v the_o image_n or_o rather_o a_o shadow_n of_o the_o godhead_n in_o that_o as_o we_o shall_v say_v hereafter_o it_o be_v a_o spirit_n that_o may_v have_v continuance_n and_o the_o quicken_n and_o execute_v the_o office_n of_o they_o all_o three_o so_o as_o it_o both_o live_v feel_v and_o reason_v even_o as_o well_o and_o after_o the_o same_o manner_n as_o the_o mind_n of_o a_o man_n may_v intend_v to_o his_o own_o household-matter_n to_o the_o affair_n of_o the_o commonweal_n and_o to_o heavenly_a thing_n all_o at_o once_o or_o to_o speak_v more_o fit_o these_o three_o degree_n of_o soul_n be_v three_o degree_n of_o life_n whereof_o the_o second_o exceed_v and_o contain_v the_o first_o and_o the_o three_o exceed_v and_o contain_v both_o the_o other_o two_o the_o one_o without_o the_o which_o the_o body_n can_v live_v be_v the_o soul_n or_o life_n of_o the_o plant_n and_o be_v so_o tie_v to_o the_o body_n that_o it_o show_v not_o itself_o in_o any_o wise_a out_o of_o it_o the_o second_o which_o can_v live_v without_o the_o body_n be_v the_o soul_n or_o life_n of_o the_o beast_n which_o do_v well_o utter_a forth_o his_o power_n and_o force_v abroad_o but_o yet_o not_o otherwise_o then_o by_o the_o member_n and_o instrument_n of_o the_o body_n whereunto_o it_o be_v tie_v the_o three_o which_o can_v of_o itself_o live_v and_o continue_v without_o the_o body_n but_o not_o the_o body_n without_o it_o be_v the_o soul_n of_o man_n which_o give_v life_n inward_o to_o all_o his_o part_n show_v forth_o his_o life_n abroad_o in_o the_o perceive_n of_o all_o thing_n subject_a to_o sense_n and_o retain_v still_o his_o force_n as_o shall_v be_v say_v hereafter_o yea_o and_o increase_v it_o even_o when_o the_o strength_n of_o the_o body_n and_o the_o very_a liveliness_n of_o the_o sense_n fail_v and_o in_o very_a deed_n you_o shall_v see_v a_o man_n forgo_v all_o his_o sense_n one_o after_o another_o as_o the_o instrument_n of_o they_o decay_n and_o yet_o have_v still_o both_o life_n and_o reason_n unappair_v the_o cause_n whereof_o be_v that_o some_o of_o the_o instrument_n of_o life_n and_o sense_n do_v fail_v but_o the_o life_n itself_o which_o quicken_v they_o fail_v not_o and_o therefore_o the_o beast_n forgo_v not_o life_n in_o lose_v sense_n but_o he_o utter_o forgo_v sense_n in_o forego_v life_n and_o that_o be_v one_o be_v as_o a_o appendent_a to_o the_o other_o and_o in_o very_a deed_n to_o what_o purpose_n be_v the_o world_n create_v if_o there_o be_v nobody_o to_o behold_v it_o or_o to_o what_o end_n behold_v we_o the_o creator_n in_o the_o world_n but_o to_o serve_v he_o and_o why_o shall_v we_o serve_v he_o upon_o no_o hope_n and_o to_o what_o purpose_n have_v he_o endue_v we_o with_o these_o rare_a gift_n of_o his_o which_o for_o the_o most_o part_n do_v but_o put_v we_o to_o pain_n and_o trouble_v in_o this_o life_n if_o we_o perish_v like_o the_o brute_n beast_n or_o the_o herb_n which_o know_v he_o not_o howbeit_o for_o the_o better_a satisfy_n of_o the_o silly_a soul_n which_o go_v on_o still_o like_o witless_a beast_n without_o take_v so_o much_o leisure_n in_o all_o their_o life_n as_o once_o to_o enter_v into_o themselves_o let_v we_o endeavour_n here_o by_o lively_a reason_n to_o paint_v out_o unto_o they_o again_o their_o true_a shape_n which_o they_o labour_v to_o deface_v with_o so_o much_o filthiness_n the_o soul_n of_o man_n as_o i_o have_v say_v afore_o be_v not_o a_o body_n neither_o do_v it_o increase_v or_o decrease_v with_o the_o body_n but_o contrary_a wise_a the_o more_o the_o body_n decay_v the_o more_o do_v the_o understanding_n increase_n and_o the_o near_a that_o the_o body_n draw_v unto_o death_n the_o more_o free_o do_v the_o mind_n understand_v and_o the_o more_o that_o the_o body_n abate_v in_o flesh_n the_o more_o workful_a be_v the_o mind_n and_o why_o then_o shall_v we_o think_v that_o the_o thing_n which_o become_v the_o strong_a by_o the_o weakness_n of_o the_o body_n and_o which_o be_v advance_v by_o the_o decay_n of_o the_o body_n shall_v return_v to_o dust_n with_o the_o body_n a_o man_n sense_n fail_v because_o his_o eye_n fail_v and_o his_o eye_n fail_v because_o the_o spirit_n of_o they_o fail_v but_o the_o blind_a man_n understanding_n increase_v because_o his_o eye_n be_v not_o buside_o and_o the_o body_n and_o that_o the_o glass_n be_v out_o of_o the_o spectacle_n but_o the_o eyesight_n be_v still_o good_a why_o shall_v we_o deem_v the_o soul_n to_o be_v forego_v with_o the_o sense_n if_o the_o eye_n be_v the_o thing_n that_o see_v and_o the_o care_n the_o thing_n that_o hear_v why_o do_v we_o not_o see_v thing_n double_a and_o hear_v sound_n double_a see_v we_o have_v two_o eye_n and_o two_o ear_n it_o be_v the_o soul_n then_o that_o see_v and_o hear_v and_o these_o which_o we_o take_v to_o be_v our_o sense_n be_v but_o the_o instrument_n of_o our_o sense_n and_o if_o when_o our_o eye_n be_v shut_v or_o pick_v out_o we_o then_o behold_v a_o thousand_o thing_n in_o our_o mind_n yea_o and_o that_o our_o understanding_n be_v then_o most_o quick-sighted_a when_o the_o quick_a eye_n also_o i_o have_v prove_v that_o the_o soul_n be_v neither_o the_o body_n nor_o a_o appertenance_n of_o the_o body_n sith_o it_o be_v so_o why_o measure_n we_o that_o thing_n by_o the_o body_n which_o measure_v all_o body_n or_o make_v that_o to_o die_v with_o the_o body_n whereby_o the_o body_n that_o die_v yea_o many_o hundred_o year_n ago_o do_v after_o a_o certain_a manner_n live_v still_o or_o what_o can_v hurt_v that_o thing_n who_o nothing_o hurt_v or_o hinder_v in_o the_o body_n though_o a_o man_n lose_v a_o arm_n yet_o do_v his_o soul_n abide_v whole_a still_o let_v he_o fire_n which_o be_v his_o contrary_n the_o cause_n why_o the_o plant_n die_v be_v extremity_n of_o cold_a or_o drought_n or_o unseasonable_a cut_n or_o violent_a pluck_n up_o also_o the_o live_a wight_n die_v through_o contrariety_n of_o humour_n or_o for_o want_v of_o food_n or_o by_o feed_v upon_o some_o thing_n that_o be_v against_o the_o nature_n of_o it_o or_o by_o outward_a violence_n of_o the_o soul_n life_n as_o the_o apple_n of_o our_o eye_n be_v the_o very_a eye_n of_o our_o eye_n and_o in_o very_a deed_n when_o the_o mind_n be_v earnest_o occupy_v the_o sense_n be_v at_o a_o stay_n and_o when_o the_o sense_n be_v overbusied_a the_o nourishment_n and_o digestion_n be_v hinder_v and_o contrariwise_o which_o thing_n can_v not_o come_v to_o pass_v if_o the_o soul_n be_v any_o more_o than_o one_o substance_n which_o by_o reason_n that_o it_o be_v but_o one_o can_v utter_v his_o force_n alike_o in_o all_o place_n at_o once_o but_o yield_v the_o less_o care_n one_o where_o so_o long_o as_o it_o be_v earnest_o occupy_v anotherwhere_o in_o this_o soul_n of_o man_n which_o yet_o notwithstanding_o be_v but_o one_o the_o diversity_n of_o the_o power_n and_o ability_n be_v contrary_a operation_n can_v be_v attribute_v both_o to_o one_o power_n nevertheless_o the_o unite_n of_o all_o these_o power_n together_o be_v with_o such_o distinctness_n and_o the_o distinguish_n man_n according_a to_o the_o three_o power_n or_o ability_n of_o the_o inward_a man_n namely_o the_o earthly_a man_n which_o like_o the_o plant_n mind_v nothing_o but_o sleep_v and_o feed_v make_v all_o his_o sense_n and_o all_o his_o reason_n to_o serve_v to_o that_o purpose_n as_o in_o who_o the_o care_n of_o this_o present_a life_n only_o have_v devour_v and_o swallow_v up_o his_o sense_n and_o understanding_n the_o sensual_a man_n as_o s._n paul_n himself_o term_v he_o who_o be_v give_v whole_o to_o these_o sensible_a thing_n imbace_v and_o cast_v down_o his_o reason_n so_o far_o as_o to_o make_v it_o a_o bondslave_n to_o his_o sense_n and_o the_o pleasure_n and_o delight_n thereof_o and_o the_o reasonable_a man_n who_o live_v proper_o in_o spirit_n and_o mind_n who_o enter_v into_o himself_o to_o know_v himself_o and_o go_v out_o of_o himself_o to_o behold_v god_n make_v this_o life_n to_o serve_v to_o the_o attainment_n of_o a_o better_a and_o use_v his_o sense_n but_o as_o instrument_n and_o servant_n of_o his_o reason_n after_o as_o any_o of_o these_o three_o power_n do_v reign_v and_o bear_v sway_n in_o man_n that_o be_v to_o wit_n after_o as_o a_o man_n yield_v himself_o more_o to_o one_o than_o to_o another_o of_o they_o so_o become_v he_o like_o unto_o the_o spirit_n the_o brute_n beast_n or_o plant_n yea_o and_o the_o very_a block_n and_o stone_n but_o it_o be_v our_o disposition_n even_o by_o kind_n to_o be_v carry_v away_o by_o our_o corrupt_a nature_n and_o by_o the_o object_n which_o hem_v we_o in_o on_o all_o side_n but_o as_o for_o against_o our_o nature_n yea_o or_o beyond_o our_o nature_n our_o nature_n be_v not_o able_a to_o do_v any_o thing_n at_o all_o now_o it_o be_v not_o enough_o for_o we_o to_o know_v that_o we_o have_v a_o soul_n whereby_o we_o live_v feel_v and_o understand_v and_o which_o be_v but_o one_o have_v in_o itself_o alone_o so_o many_o sundry_a power_n or_o ability_n for_o it_o will_v be_v demand_v of_o we_o by_o and_o by_o what_o this_o soul_n proper_o be_v and_o sooth_o if_o i_o shall_v say_v i_o can_v tell_v what_o it_o be_v i_o shall_v not_o belie_v myself_o a_o whit_n for_o i_o shall_v but_o confess_v i_o own_o ignorance_n as_o many_o great_a learned_a man_n have_v do_v afore_o i_o and_o i_o shall_v do_v no_o wrong_n at_o all_o to_o the_o soul_n itself_o for_o sith_o we_o can_v deny_v the_o effect_n thereof_o the_o less_o that_o we_o be_v able_a to_o declare_v the_o nature_n and_o be_v thereof_o the_o more_o do_v the_o excellency_n thereof_o shine_v forth_o again_o it_o be_v a_o plain_a case_n that_o no_o thing_n can_v comprehend_v the_o thing_n that_o be_v great_a than_o itself_o now_o our_o soul_n be_v after_o a_o sort_n less_o than_o itself_o in_o as_o much_o as_o it_o be_v wrap_v up_o in_o this_o body_n in_o likewise_o as_o the_o man_n that_o have_v gyves_n and_o fetters_o on_o his_o foot_n be_v after_o a_o sort_n weak_a than_o himself_o nevertheless_o let_v we_o assay_v to_o satisfy_v such_o demand_n as_o well_o as_o we_o can_v and_o for_o as_o much_o as_o it_o be_v the_o image_n of_o god_n not_o only_o in_o respect_n of_o the_o government_n and_o maintenance_n of_o the_o whole_a world_n but_o also_o even_o in_o the_o very_a nature_n thereof_o as_o we_o say_v heretofore_o when_o we_o speak_v of_o the_o nature_n of_o god_n if_o we_o can_v express_v or_o conceive_v what_o it_o be_v let_v we_o at_o leastwise_o be_v certify_v what_o it_o be_v not_o first_o of_o all_o thing_n that_o the_o soul_n and_o the_o body_n be_v not_o both_o one_o thing_n but_o two_o very_o far_o differ_v thing_n and_o also_o that_o the_o soul_n be_v no_o part_n of_o the_o body_n it_o appear_v of_o itself_o without_o further_a proof_n for_o if_o the_o soul_n be_v the_o body_n or_o a_o part_n of_o the_o body_n it_o shall_v grow_v with_o the_o body_n as_o the_o other_o part_n of_o the_o body_n do_v and_o the_o great_a that_o the_o body_n be_v the_o great_a also_o shall_v the_o soul_n be_v nay_o contrary_a wise_a the_o body_n increase_v to_o a_o certain_a age_n and_o then_o stay_v after_o which_o age_n be_v common_o the_o time_n that_o the_o soul_n do_v most_o grow_v and_o those_o that_o be_v strong_a of_o mind_n be_v common_o weak_a of_o body_n and_o the_o soul_n be_v see_v to_o be_v full_a of_o liveliness_n in_o a_o languish_a body_n and_o to_o grow_v the_o more_o in_o force_n by_o the_o decay_n of_o the_o body_n the_o soul_n then_o grow_v not_o with_o the_o body_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v not_o the_o body_n nor_o any_o part_n of_o the_o body_n and_o whereas_o i_o speak_v of_o grow_v in_o the_o soul_n by_o grow_v i_o mean_v the_o profit_v thereof_o in_o power_n and_o virtue_n as_o the_o
body_n grow_v in_o greatness_n by_o further_a enlarge_n again_o if_o the_o soul_n be_v the_o body_n it_o shall_v lose_v her_o strength_n and_o soundness_n with_o the_o body_n so_o as_o the_o maim_a in_o body_n shall_v therewith_o feel_v also_o a_o maim_n in_o his_o understanding_n as_o well_o as_o in_o his_o member_n whosoever_o be_v sick_a of_o any_o disease_n shall_v also_o be_v sick_a in_o his_o reason_n he_o that_o limp_v or_o halt_v shall_v therewith_o halt_v in_o soul_n also_o the_o blind_a man_n soul_n shall_v be_v blind_a and_o the_o lame_a man_n soul_n shall_v be_v lame_a but_o we_o see_v contrariwise_o that_o the_o maim_a and_o the_o sick_a the_o cripple_n and_o the_o blind_a have_v their_o soul_n whole_a and_o sound_a and_o their_o understanding_n perfect_a and_o clear-sighted_a in_o itself_o to_o be_v short_a many_o a_o man_n die_v who_o body_n be_v sound_a and_o differ_v not_o a_o whit_n in_o any_o part_n from_o that_o it_o be_v when_o it_o be_v alive_a and_o yet_o notwithstanding_o both_o life_n move_v sense_n and_o understanding_n be_v out_o of_o it_o let_v we_o say_v then_o that_o in_o the_o body_n there_o be_v a_o thing_n which_o be_v not_o of_o the_o body_n but_o be_v a_o far_o other_o thing_n than_o the_o body_n some_o wilful_a person_n will_v object_v here_o that_o the_o force_n and_o strength_n of_o the_o soul_n grow_v with_o the_o body_n as_o appear_v in_o this_o that_o a_o man_n grow_v will_v remove_v that_o which_o a_o child_n can_v and_o that_o a_o child_n of_o two_o year_n old_a will_v go_v which_o thing_n a_o babe_n of_o two_o month_n old_a can_v do_v but_o he_o shall_v consider_v also_o that_o if_o the_o selfsame_a man_n or_o the_o selfsame_a child_n shall_v have_v a_o mischance_n in_o his_o leg_n or_o in_o his_o arm_n he_o shall_v thereby_o forgo_v the_o strength_n and_o move_v thereof_o whereas_o yet_o notwithstanding_o his_o soul_n shall_v have_v her_o former_a force_n and_o power_n still_o to_o move_v the_o the_o selfsame_a power_n in_o infancy_n which_o it_o have_v in_o age_n and_o the_o same_o in_o age_n which_o it_o have_v in_o the_o prime_a of_o youth_n and_o the_o fault_n be_v only_o in_o the_o instrument_n which_o be_v unable_a to_o execute_v the_o operation_n thereof_o like_v as_o the_o cunning_a of_o a_o luteplayer_n be_v not_o diminish_v by_o the_o moistness_n or_o slackness_n of_o the_o lutestring_n nor_o increase_v by_o the_o over_o high_a strain_n and_o tight_a stand_n of_o they_o but_o indeed_o in_o the_o one_o he_o can_v show_v his_o cunning_n at_o all_o and_o in_o the_o other_o he_o may_v show_v it_o more_o or_o less_o likewise_o the_o speech_n of_o child_n come_v with_o their_o tooth_n howbeit_o that_o the_o speech_n do_v manifest_o utter_v itself_o first_o in_o that_o the_o body_n i_o mean_v so_o far_o forth_o as_o concern_v the_o ability_n of_o sense_n and_o livelynes_n shall_v be_v perform_v as_o well_o in_o one_o age_n as_o in_o another_o but_o have_v thou_o as_o great_a indifferency_n in_o judge_v of_o the_o force_n and_o power_n of_o thy_o own_o soul_n as_o of_o the_o cunning_a of_o a_o luteplayer_n i_o say_v not_o by_o the_o nimbleness_n of_o his_o finger_n which_o be_v perchance_o knot_v with_o the_o gout_n but_o by_o the_o plain_a and_o sweet_a harmony_n of_o his_o tabulatorie_a as_o they_o term_v it_o which_o make_v thou_o to_o deem_v he_o to_o have_v cunning_a in_o his_o head_n although_o he_o can_v no_o more_o utter_v it_o with_o his_o hand_n so_o as_o thou_o will_v consider_v how_o thou_o have_v in_o thyself_o a_o desire_n to_o go_v though_o thy_o foot_n be_v not_o able_a to_o bear_v thou_o a_o discretion_n to_o judge_v of_o thing_n that_o be_v speak_v though_o thy_o eye_n can_v convey_v it_o unto_o thou_o a_o sound_a eloquence_n though_o for_o want_n of_o thy_o tooth_n thou_o can_v well_o express_v it_o and_o which_o be_v above_o all_o the_o rest_n a_o substantial_a quick_a and_o heavenly_a reason_n even_o when_o thy_o body_n be_v most_o earthly_a and_o droop_a thou_o will_v soon_o conclude_v that_o the_o force_n and_o power_n of_o quicken_a move_v and_o perceive_v be_v whole_a and_o sound_a in_o thy_o soul_n and_o that_o the_o default_n be_v altogether_o in_o thy_o body_n insomuch_o that_o if_o she_o have_v a_o new_a body_n and_o new_a instrument_n give_v unto_o she_o she_o will_v be_v as_o lusty_a and_o cheerly_o as_o ever_o she_o be_v and_o that_o the_o more_o she_o perceive_v the_o body_n to_o decay_v the_o more_o she_o labour_v to_o retire_v into_o herself_o which_o be_v a_o plain_a proof_n of_o that_o she_o be_v not_o the_o body_n nor_o any_o part_n of_o the_o body_n but_o the_o very_a life_n and_o in_o worker_n of_o the_o body_n and_o sith_o it_o be_v so_o substance_n there_o need_v no_o long_a scan_n whether_o the_o soul_n be_v a_o substance_n or_o a_o quality_n for_o see_v that_o quality_n have_v no_o be_v but_o in_o another_o thing_n than_o themselves_o the_o life_n which_o cause_v another_o thing_n to_o be_v can_v be_v a_o quality_n forasmuch_o then_o as_o the_o soul_n make_v a_o man_n to_o be_v a_o man_n who_o otherwise_o shall_v be_v but_o a_o carcase_n or_o carrion_n doubtless_o unless_o we_o will_v say_v that_o the_o only_a difference_n which_o be_v betwixt_o a_o man_n and_o a_o dead_a carcase_n be_v but_o in_o accident_n we_o must_v needs_o grant_v that_o the_o soul_n be_v a_o form_a substance_n and_o a_o substantial_a form_n yea_o and_o a_o most_o excellent_a substance_n infinite_o pass_v the_o outward_a man_n as_o which_o by_o the_o power_n and_o virtue_n thereof_o cause_v another_o thing_n to_o have_v be_v and_o perfect_v the_o bodily_a substance_n which_o seem_v outward_o to_o have_v so_o many_o perfection_n but_o hereupon_o insew_v another_o controversy_n whether_o this_o substance_n be_v a_o bodily_a or_o a_o unbodily_a substance_n which_o cause_n require_v somewhat_o long_o examination_n sooth_o if_o we_o consider_v the_o nature_n of_o a_o body_n it_o have_v certain_a measure_n and_o comprehend_v not_o any_o thing_n which_o be_v not_o proportion_v according_a to_o the_o greatness_n and_o capacity_n thereof_o for_o like_o as_o itself_o must_v be_v fain_o to_o have_v a_o place_n in_o another_o thing_n so_o must_v other_o thing_n occupy_v some_o certain_a place_n in_o it_o by_o reason_n whereof_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o thing_n can_v have_v no_o place_n therein_o if_o they_o be_v great_a than_o it_o without_o annoy_v the_o one_o the_o other_o to_o be_v short_a if_o the_o thing_n be_v less_o than_o the_o body_n that_o even_o by_o so_o think_v they_o show_v themselves_o to_o have_v part_n thereof_o and_o imagine_v we_o that_o the_o unborn_a babe_n have_v not_o as_o much_o ado_n by_o nature_n to_o leave_v it_o be_v no_o more_o a_o soul_n that_o be_v to_o say_v the_o worker_n and_o quickener_n of_o the_o body_n but_o a_o very_a body_n unable_a to_o do_v any_o thing_n of_o itself_o and_o a_o massy_a it_o do_v we_o will_v the_o same_o as_o little_o do_v they_o stir_v for_o that_o too_o to_o understand_v and_o to_o will_v which_o be_v the_o operation_n of_o the_o mind_n the_o soul_n have_v no_o need_n of_o the_o body_n and_o as_o for_o work_v and_o be_v they_o accompany_v one_o another_o say_v aristotle_n therefore_o to_o continue_v still_o in_o be_v the_o soul_n have_v not_o to_o do_v with_o the_o body_n nor_o any_o need_n of_o the_o body_n but_o rather_o to_o work_v well_o and_o to_o be_v well_o the_o soul_n ought_v either_o to_o be_v without_o the_o
notwithstanding_o these_o vain_a reason_n of_o they_o let_v we_o conclude_v that_o our_o soul_n be_v a_o understanding_n or_o reasonable_a power_n over_o the_o which_o neither_o death_n nor_o corruption_n have_v natural_o any_o power_n although_o it_o be_v fit_v to_o the_o body_n to_o govern_v it_o and_o if_o any_o man_n doubt_v hereof_o let_v he_o but_o examine_v himself_o for_o even_o his_o own_o doubt_n will_v prove_v it_o unto_o he_o or_o if_o he_o will_v stand_v in_o contention_n still_o let_v he_o fall_v to_o reason_v with_o himself_o for_o by_o conclude_v his_o argument_n to_o
