there_o be_v then_o one_o base_a and_o inferior_a kind_n of_o life_n of_o less_o estimation_n than_o the_o rest_n and_o that_o be_v the_o life_n of_o tree_n and_o plant_n and_o of_o all_o such_o thing_n as_o have_v root_n in_o the_o earth_n which_o spring_n grow_v bloom_n and_o bring_v forth_o fruit_n which_o fruit_n aristotle_n say_v come_v from_o they_o in_o stead_n of_o excrement_n together_o with_o their_o seed_n and_o these_o tree_n and_o plant_n and_o such_o like_a grow_a thing_n have_v only_o life_n devoid_a of_o feel_v though_o pythagoras_n think_v otherwise_o or_o of_o any_o knowledge_n but_o by_o the_o benefit_n of_o nature_n only_o they_o spring_v they_o grow_v and_o bringforth_o fruit_n and_o seed_n for_o the_o use_n of_o man_n and_o for_o the_o maintain_n of_o their_o kind_n there_o be_v another_o kind_n of_o life_n less_o imperfect_a than_o that_o which_o be_v the_o same_o that_o perfect_a live_a creature_n have_v for_o of_o that_o life_n which_o be_v in_o manner_n a_o mean_a between_o the_o life_n of_o plant_n and_o this_o of_o sensible_a creature_n we_o need_v not_o now_o to_o speak_v or_o if_o it_o be_v we_o shall_v resemble_v it_o to_o that_o which_o physician_n call_v embryo_n and_o be_v the_o creature_n unperfect_a in_o the_o womb_n while_o it_o be_v between_o the_o form_n of_o seed_n and_o of_o the_o kind_n whence_o it_o come_v which_o life_n of_o perfect_a live_a creature_n have_v in_o it_o by_o nature_n power_n to_o feel_v and_o to_o move_v from_o place_n to_o place_n for_o we_o see_v they_o stir_v and_o feel_v and_o have_v power_n to_o desire_v those_o thing_n that_o be_v meet_v for_o the_o maintain_n of_o their_o life_n and_o of_o their_o nature_n and_o by_o natural_a inclination_n and_o for_o the_o increase_n and_o continuance_n of_o their_o kind_n they_o covet_v the_o join_n of_o their_o body_n to_o yield_v unto_o nature_n that_o which_o of_o nature_n they_o have_v receive_v that_o be_v to_o engender_v the_o like_a unto_o themselves_o but_o this_o power_n of_o the_o soul_n can_v use_v that_o force_n and_o virtue_n which_o natural_o it_o have_v if_o it_o have_v not_o withal_o that_o former_a part_n which_o be_v proper_a as_o be_v say_v to_o plant_n &_o be_v call_v vegetative_a you_o must_v give_v i_o leave_v to_o use_v new_a word_n of_o art_n such_o as_o be_v proper_a to_o express_v new_a conceit_n though_o they_o be_v yet_o strange_a and_o not_o denison_v in_o our_o language_n because_o it_o give_v life_n and_o increase_n to_o grow_a thing_n and_o without_o it_o the_o power_n of_o feeling_n do_v utter_o fail_v next_o after_o this_o come_v that_o excellent_a and_o divine_a part_n of_o the_o soul_n which_o bring_v with_o it_o the_o light_n of_o reason_n contain_v in_o it_o the_o power_n faculty_n or_o virtue_n of_o the_o other_o two_o for_o it_o have_v that_o life_n which_o proceed_v from_o plant_n it_o have_v sense_n or_o feeling_n &_o motion_n from_o place_n to_o place_n proper_a to_o the_o second_o kind_n and_o it_o have_v beside_o that_o other_o part_n whereby_o it_o know_v understand_v discourse_v consult_v choose_v and_o give_v itself_o to_o operation_n and_o to_o contemplate_v thing_n natural_a and_o divine_a and_o this_o part_n be_v proper_a only_o to_o man_n and_o as_o by_o the_o two_o other_o faculty_n before_o mention_v we_o be_v like_a to_o plant_n and_o to_o bruit_n beast_n so_o by_o this_o last_o we_o do_v participate_v of_o the_o divine_a nature_n of_o god_n himself_o wherefore_o aristotle_n say_v that_o man_n be_v create_v upright_o for_o no_o other_o cause_n then_o for_o that_o his_o substance_n be_v divine_a who_o nature_n and_o office_n be_v to_o know_v and_o understand_v and_o true_o this_o gift_n be_v give_v unto_o we_o by_o the_o maker_n and_o governor_n of_o all_o thing_n because_o we_o may_v know_v ourselves_o to_o be_v of_o a_o nature_n most_o perfect_a among_o earthly_a thing_n and_o not_o far_o inferior_a to_o the_o divine_a and_o that_o we_o have_v receive_v so_o singular_a a_o gift_n from_o almighty_a god_n for_o no_o other_o cause_n but_o only_o to_o the_o end_n we_o may_v perceive_v how_o all_o other_o thing_n that_o grow_v and_o live_v on_o earth_n be_v corruptible_a and_o do_v resolve_v into_o their_o first_o principle_n or_o beginning_n and_o cease_v any_o more_o to_o be_v as_o soon_o as_o the_o soul_n of_o life_n depart_v from_o they_o but_o that_o our_o mind_n be_v immortal_a and_o incorruptible_a whereby_o we_o may_v rest_v assure_v of_o a_o eternal_a life_n since_o then_o these_o three_o faculty_n of_o the_o soul_n be_v in_o we_o it_o be_v clear_a that_o as_o the_o plant_n among_o thing_n that_o bear_v life_n be_v the_o most_o imperfect_a so_o that_o part_n of_o the_o soul_n be_v most_o unperfect_a which_o be_v proper_a to_o their_o kind_n but_o it_o be_v so_o necessary_a to_o all_o other_o kind_n as_o without_o it_o there_o be_v no_o life_n and_o with_o it_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o faculty_n that_o be_v join_v therewith_o though_o they_o be_v worthy_a decay_n and_o fall_v and_o this_o necessity_n of_o nature_n that_o without_o it_o she_o give_v no_o life_n make_v the_o same_o to_o be_v most_o base_a and_o ignoble_a for_o among_o natural_a thing_n those_o which_o be_v so_o necessary_a as_o without_o they_o nothing_o can_v be_v do_v be_v always_o hold_v and_o repute_v the_o most_o unworthy_a which_o thing_n we_o may_v see_v in_o that_o we_o call_v materia_fw-la prima_fw-la which_o though_o it_o be_v in_o nature_n before_o the_o form_n yet_o because_o of_o the_o necessity_n thereof_o it_o be_v esteem_v of_o no_o nobility_n in_o comparison_n of_o the_o form_n and_o even_o so_o likewise_o among_o the_o sense_n that_o of_o feeling_n be_v hold_v the_o base_a because_o no_o perfect_a live_a creature_n can_v be_v without_o it_o nor_o yet_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o sense_n unless_o that_o be_v present_a and_o therefore_o aristotle_n say_v that_o the_o other_o sense_n be_v give_v to_o man_n that_o thereby_o he_o may_v live_v the_o better_a but_o the_o sense_n of_o feeling_n be_v give_v he_o because_o without_o it_o he_o can_v neither_o be_v nor_o live_v now_o for_o so_o much_o as_o life_n may_v be_v without_o sense_n because_o the_o sensitive_a soul_n be_v not_o of_o such_o necessity_n as_o be_v the_o vegetative_a therefore_o be_v that_o of_o more_o nobility_n than_o this_o somewhat_o yet_o inferior_a to_o the_o intellective_a which_o can_v no_o more_o be_v without_o the_o sensitive_a than_o the_o sensitive_a without_o the_o vegetative_a and_o because_o the_o intellective_a soul_n be_v not_o of_o necessity_n serve_v to_o any_o other_o faculty_n or_o power_n therefore_o be_v she_o as_o lady_n mistress_n and_o queen_n over_o all_o other_o the_o power_n faculty_n or_o virtue_n of_o the_o soul_n so_o as_o there_o be_v none_o proper_a unto_o man_n but_o that_o whereby_o he_o may_v be_v either_o good_a or_o bad_a happy_a or_o unhappy_a and_o the_o same_o be_v it_o whereby_o we_o understand_v and_o make_v choice_n rather_o of_o one_o course_n of_o life_n then_o of_o another_o this_o great_a gift_n have_v god_n bestow_v upon_o we_o to_o show_v his_o great_a grace_n and_o goodness_n and_o for_o this_o purpose_n that_o as_o he_o have_v invite_v we_o through_o virtue_n of_o our_o understanding_n to_o the_o knowledge_n of_o truth_n and_o by_o this_o knowledge_n to_o become_v like_a unto_o himself_o so_o we_o shall_v bend_v all_o our_o study_n and_o endeavour_n thereunto_o as_o the_o end_n and_o scope_n of_o our_o life_n in_o this_o world_n of_o which_o the_o occasion_n of_o this_o our_o present_a speech_n do_v first_o arise_v here_o i_o pause_v a_o while_n as_o to_o take_v breath_n and_o withal_o to_o order_v some_o of_o the_o paper_n the_o lord_n primate_n speak_v say_v have_v treat_v thus_o far_o of_o the_o power_n faculty_n virtue_n or_o part_n of_o the_o soul_n i_o think_v it_o not_o impertinent_a to_o move_v a_o question_n whether_o they_o be_v in_o man_n separate_v and_o in_o several_a place_n or_o whether_o they_o be_v unite_v all_o together_o and_o seat_v in_o one_o place_n this_o question_n quoth_v i_o be_v very_o pertinent_a to_o this_o place_n and_o by_o the_o author_n here_o resolve_v as_o a_o doubt_n not_o light_o or_o easy_a to_o be_v answer_v first_o for_o that_o there_o have_v not_o want_v some_o who_o will_v needs_o have_v that_o these_o three_o power_n of_o the_o
soul_n be_v three_o distinct_a soul_n and_o not_o join_v in_o one_o soul_n appoint_v for_o several_a office_n but_o because_o that_o opinion_n have_v be_v esteem_v but_o vain_a it_o need_v not_o to_o be_v insist_v upon_o but_o brief_o that_o i_o declare_v what_o aristotle_n and_o plato_n with_o their_o follower_n have_v hold_v the_o first_o with_o his_o scholar_n affirm_v the_o reasonable_a soul_n to_o be_v in_o substance_n indivisible_a and_o albeit_o they_o assign_v unto_o her_o diverse_a virtue_n yet_o will_v they_o not_o have_v they_o to_o be_v indeed_o several_a and_o diverse_a but_o that_o the_o diversity_n shall_v proceed_v &_o consist_v only_o in_o the_o manner_n of_o understand_v they_o suppose_v they_o to_o be_v in_o the_o soul_n after_o such_o a_o sort_n as_o in_o the_o line_n of_o a_o circle_n the_o inner_a part_n which_o be_v hollow_a or_o embow_v and_o the_o outward_a which_o be_v bend_v which_o two_o part_n though_o we_o understand_v they_o diverse_o yet_o be_v they_o but_o one_o line_n and_o not_o several_a neither_o do_v they_o assign_v unto_o her_o diverse_a place_n but_o say_v that_o she_o be_v all_o and_o whole_a in_o all_o our_o body_n and_o in_o every_o part_n of_o the_o same_o and_o apt_a there_o to_o exercise_v all_o her_o function_n if_o the_o part_n be_v apt_a to_o receive_v they_o but_o because_o every_o part_n be_v not_o dispose_v to_o receive_v they_o therefore_o she_o make_v show_v of_o they_o only_o in_o such_o as_o be_v make_v fit_a instrument_n to_o execute_v her_o power_n and_o faculty_n so_o give_v she_o virtue_n to_o the_o eye_n to_o see_v to_o the_o ear_n to_o hear_v and_o to_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o member_n that_o be_v the_o instrument_n of_o our_o sense_n but_o plato_n and_o his_o sect_n have_v give_v to_o every_o power_n of_o faculty_n of_o the_o soul_n a_o peculiar_a seat_n in_o man_n body_n for_o though_o they_o hold_v the_o soul_n to_o be_v but_o one_o endue_v with_o several_a virtue_n or_o power_n yet_o they_o affirm_v that_o every_o one_o of_o those_o have_v a_o several_a seat_n appoint_v in_o man_n body_n to_o the_o vegetative_a from_o which_o as_o from_o a_o fountain_n they_o say_v the_o concupiscible_a appetite_n do_v flow_v they_o appoint_v the_o liver_n for_o her_o place_n to_o the_o sensitive_a whence_o come_v say_v they_o the_o fervent_a passion_n of_o anger_n they_o give_v the_o heart_n but_o the_o reasonable_a soul_n as_o be_v the_o most_o divine_a thing_n under_o heaven_n they_o assign_v to_o hold_v her_o seat_n like_o a_o queen_n in_o a_o royal_a chair_n even_o in_o the_o head_n unto_o which_o opinion_n all_o the_o greek_a author_n of_o physic_n have_v lean_v and_o special_o galen_n the_o excellent_a interpreter_n of_o hypocrates_n who_o have_v not_o only_o attribute_v three_o several_a seat_n to_o the_o three_o several_a faculty_n of_o the_o soul_n in_o respect_n of_o their_o operation_n but_o have_v also_o show_v with_o what_o order_n those_o member_n be_v frame_v that_o must_v be_v the_o receptacle_n of_o those_o faculty_n for_o he_o show_v how_o the_o first_o member_n that_o take_v form_n after_o the_o conception_n be_v the_o liver_n from_o whence_o spring_n all_o the_o vein_n that_o like_o small_a brook_n carry_v blood_n over_o all_o the_o body_n and_o in_o this_o member_n do_v he_o place_v the_o live_n or_o nourish_v soul_n which_o we_o have_v term_v vegetative_a affirm_v it_o to_o be_v most_o approach_v to_o nature_n next_o unto_o this_o he_o place_v the_o heart_n wherein_o all_o the_o vital_a spirit_n be_v forge_v and_o receive_v their_o strength_n for_o the_o generation_n whereof_o the_o liver_n send_v blood_n thither_o where_o it_o be_v refine_v and_o make_v more_o pure_a and_o subtle_a and_o from_o thence_o by_o the_o artery_n which_o all_o spring_n from_o the_o heart_n the_o same_o spirit_n be_v spread_v throughout_o the_o whole_a body_n and_o these_o two_o principal_a member_n be_v the_o seat_n of_o the_o two_o muscle_n be_v frame_v by_o which_o the_o motion_n of_o the_o member_n be_v dispose_v this_o part_n be_v the_o seat_n of_o the_o reasonable_a soul_n by_o virtue_n and_o power_n of_o which_o we_o understand_v we_o will_v we_o discourse_v we_o know_v we_o choose_v we_o contemplate_v and_o do_v all_o those_o operation_n which_o appertain_v unto_o reason_n and_o as_o nature_n have_v place_v the_o aristotle_n just_o reprehend_v by_o galen_n in_o that_o he_o give_v to_o the_o heart_n alone_o that_o which_o appertain_v to_o all_o three_o the_o principal_a member_n aforesaid_a for_o though_o he_o assign_v diverse_a virtue_n or_o power_n to_o the_o soul_n yet_o he_o place_v they_o all_o in_o the_o heart_n alone_o from_o which_o he_o say_v contrary_a to_o that_o which_o common_a sense_n and_o experience_n teach_v that_o all_o the_o vein_n artery_n and_o sinew_n of_o the_o body_n be_v derive_v but_o because_o we_o shall_v go_v too_o far_o astray_o from_o our_o purpose_n if_o i_o shall_v discourse_v particular_o all_o that_o which_o may_v be_v say_v in_o this_o matter_n i_o will_v return_v if_o you_o so_o think_v good_a to_o our_o former_a purpose_n which_o i_o leave_v to_o satisfy_v your_o demand_n thus_o much_o say_v the_o lord_n primate_n have_v not_o a_o little_a open_v the_o understanding_n of_o this_o matter_n and_o therefore_o you_o may_v proceed_v unless_o any_o other_o of_o the_o company_n have_v any_o other_o doubt_n to_o propose_v but_o they_o all_o be_v silent_a and_o seem_v attentive_a to_o hear_v further_o i_o say_v now_o that_o you_o have_v understand_v what_o the_o power_n and_o faculty_n of_o the_o soul_n be_v it_o follow_v to_o be_v declare_v how_o the_o age_n of_o man_n life_n have_v similitude_n with_o the_o same_o as_o the_o soul_n of_o life_n therefore_o call_v vegetative_a be_v the_o foundation_n of_o the_o rest_n and_o consequent_o of_o the_o base_a so_o be_v the_o age_n of_o childhood_n the_o foundation_n of_o the_o other_o age_n and_o therefore_o the_o least_o noble_a for_o the_o necessity_n which_o it_o carry_v with_o it_o and_o because_o upon_o it_o the_o other_o age_n be_v build_v there_o ought_v the_o great_a diligence_n to_o be_v use_v about_o the_o same_o to_o make_v it_o pass_v on_o towards_o the_o other_o more_o noble_a than_o itself_o so_o as_o we_o may_v reasonable_o conceive_v a_o hope_n that_o from_o a_o wel-guided_n childhood_n the_o child_n may_v enter_v into_o a_o commendable_a youth_n and_o thence_o pass_v to_o a_o more_o ripe_a age_n by_o the_o direction_n of_o virtue_n but_o first_o you_o must_v without_o any_o endeavour_n of_o our_o own_o her_o virtue_n and_o operation_n if_o food_n and_o nourishment_n fail_v not_o be_v in_o her_o full_a force_n chief_o in_o childhood_n and_o as_o soon_o as_o the_o child_n be_v bear_v stir_v up_o the_o desire_n of_o food_n to_o the_o end_n that_o by_o little_a and_o little_a it_o may_v gather_v strength_n of_o body_n to_o become_v apt_a for_o the_o use_n of_o the_o soul_n who_o organ_n or_o instrument_n it_o be_v for_o the_o accomplish_n of_o the_o more_o noble_a operation_n meet_v for_o man_n and_o because_o the_o milk_n of_o the_o mother_n or_o of_o the_o nurse_n be_v the_o first_o fit_a food_n for_o the_o infant_n it_o be_v to_o be_v wish_v that_o it_o shall_v receive_v the_o same_o rather_o from_o the_o mother_n then_o from_o any_o strange_a woman_n for_o in_o reason_n the_o same_o shall_v be_v more_o kind_o and_o natural_a for_o the_o babe_n than_o any_o other_o in_o consideration_n whereof_o the_o instructor_n of_o civil_a life_n have_v determine_v and_o teach_v that_o it_o be_v the_o father_n office_n to_o teach_v and_o instruct_v the_o child_n but_o the_o mother_n to_o nourish_v it_o for_o wise_a man_n say_v that_o nature_n have_v give_v to_o woman_n their_o breast_n not_o so_o much_o for_o defence_n of_o the_o hart_n as_o because_o they_o shall_v nourish_v their_o child_n and_o that_o she_o have_v give_v they_o to_o be_v have_v in_o get_v such_o a_o nurse_n as_o may_v be_v of_o good_a complexion_n and_o of_o love_a nature_n and_o honest_a condition_n that_o with_o milk_n it_o may_v also_o suck_v a_o void_a of_o reason_n in_o respect_n of_o themselves_o it_o will_v doubtless_o remain_v still_o in_o perfection_n of_o one_o nature_n and_o not_o receive_v any_o vice_n from_o that_o nutriment_n which_o yield_v matter_n to_o the_o base_a faculty_n of_o the_o soul_n to_o maintain_v and_o increase_v the_o body_n but_o evermore_o practice_v her_o proper_a operation_n and_o virtue_n but_o because_o it_o happen_v too_o often_o partly_o by_o the_o ill_a quality_n of_o the_o nutriment_n and_o partly_o for_o want_v of_o care_n in_o the_o education_n that_o the_o part_n wherein_o the_o vegetative_a power_n lie_v get_v overmuch_o strength_n and_o allure_v by_o the_o delight_n of_o the_o sensible_a part_n give_v itself_o whole_o to_o follow_v the_o pleasure_n of_o the_o sense_n the_o kind_n or_o form_n which_o lie_v hide_v in_o that_o part_n possible_a dark_a and_o confuse_a devoyde_a of_o place_n time_n and_o matter_n because_o they_o be_v not_o particular_a and_o hence_o it_o come_v that_o some_o have_v say_v this_o possible_a understanding_n as_o we_o may_v term_v it_o to_o be_v such_o a_o thing_n as_o out_o of_o it_o all_o thing_n shall_v be_v make_v as_o if_o it_o be_v in_o stead_n of_o matter_n and_o the_o other_o agent_n understand_v to_o be_v the_o worker_n of_o all_o thing_n and_o as_o it_o be_v the_o form_n because_o this_o part_n which_o before_o be_v but_o in_o power_n to_o thing_n intelligible_a become_v through_o the_o operation_n of_o the_o agent_n understand_v to_o be_v now_o in_o act_n and_o for_o this_o cause_n also_o be_v it_o say_v that_o the_o understanding_n and_o thing_n understand_v become_v more_o proper_o and_o true_o ownself_o same_o thing_n then_o of_o matter_n and_o form_n it_o may_v be_v say_v for_o it_o be_v credible_a that_o both_o the_o form_n of_o thing_n and_o the_o understanding_n be_v immaterial_a they_o do_v the_o more_o perfect_o unite_v themselves_o and_o that_o the_o understanding_n do_v so_o make_v itself_o equal_a with_o the_o thing_n understand_v that_o they_o both_o become_v one_o to_o which_o purpose_n aristotle_n say_v very_o well_o that_o the_o reasonable_a soul_n while_o it_o understandeth_v natural_a and_o the_o form_n to_o the_o body_n perform_v her_o operation_n together_o with_o the_o body_n and_o as_o she_o be_v the_o mover_n of_o the_o body_n and_o the_o body_n move_v by_o she_o but_o not_o as_o she_o be_v distinct_a or_o separate_a from_o the_o body_n and_o right_o true_a it_o be_v that_o while_o she_o be_v tie_v to_o the_o body_n she_o can_v understand_v but_o by_o the_o mean_n of_o the_o sense_n but_o that_o be_v free_a and_o loose_v from_o the_o body_n she_o have_v not_o her_o proper_a operation_n that_o be_v most_o false_a for_o than_o have_v she_o no_o need_n at_o all_o of_o the_o sense_n when_o be_v pure_a and_o simple_a she_o may_v exercise_v she_o own_o power_n and_o virtue_n proper_a to_o she_o which_o be_v the_o contemplation_n of_o god_n almighty_a the_o high_a and_o only_o true_a good_a nor_o yet_o of_o any_o other_o instrument_n but_o herself_o and_o in_o this_o respect_n perchance_o the_o better_a sort_n of_o peripatetike_n follow_v their_o master_n opinion_n have_v say_v that_o the_o soul_n separate_v from_o the_o body_n be_v not_o the_o same_o she_o be_v while_o she_o be_v link_v thereunto_o as_o well_o because_o then_o she_o be_v a_o part_n of_o the_o whole_a and_o be_v trouble_v with_o anger_n desire_v hatred_n love_n &_o such_o like_a passion_n common_a to_o she_o with_o the_o body_n as_o because_o be_v imprison_v in_o the_o body_n she_o have_v need_n of_o the_o sense_n but_o now_o that_o she_o be_v free_v from_o that_o imprisonment_n nor_o any_o way_n bind_v to_o the_o body_n she_o may_v use_v herself_o and_o her_o virtue_n much_o more_o noble_o and_o worthy_o then_o before_o and_o therefore_o aristotle_n say_v that_o the_o soul_n separate_v from_o the_o body_n can_v no_o more_o be_v call_v a_o soul_n but_o equivocal_o but_o here_o be_v to_o be_v note_v that_o it_o be_v one_o thing_n to_o speak_v of_o the_o intellective_a soul_n which_o be_v divine_a and_o uncorruptible_a and_o another_o thing_n to_o speak_v of_o the_o soul_n simple_o for_o doubtless_o the_o vegetative_a and_o sensitive_a soul_n which_o can_v use_v their_o virtue_n and_o operation_n but_o by_o mean_a of_o the_o body_n die_v with_o the_o body_n but_o the_o intellective_a soul_n which_o be_v our_o only_a true_a form_n not_o draw_v from_o the_o material_a power_n but_o create_v and_o send_v into_o we_o by_o the_o divine_a majesty_n die_v not_o with_o the_o body_n but_o remain_v immortal_a and_o everlasting_a and_o thus_o much_o touch_v the_o manner_n of_o our_o learning_n according_a to_o aristotle_n opinion_n may_v suffice_v but_o plato_n doubtless_o be_v of_o opinion_n that_o our_o soul_n before_o it_o descend_v into_o we_o have_v the_o knowledge_n of_o all_o thing_n and_o that_o by_o come_v into_o this_o mortal_a prison_n which_o his_o follower_n have_v term_v the_o sepulchre_n of_o the_o soul_n she_o be_v plunge_v as_o it_o be_v into_o profound_a darkness_n from_o a_o most_o clear_a light_n whereby_o she_o know_v before_o be_v stir_v up_o and_o waken_v she_o come_v to_o resume_v her_o former_a knowledge_n and_o in_o this_o sort_n by_o way_n of_o rememorate_n and_o not_o of_o learn_v a_o new_a she_o attain_v the_o knowledge_n of_o science_n so_o as_o we_o learn_v nothing_o whereof_o before_o we_o have_v not_o the_o knowledge_n in_o conformity_n of_o which_o their_o master_n sentence_n the_o platonike_fw-gr say_v that_o since_o the_o body_n bring_v with_o it_o the_o seed_n that_o appertain_v unto_o it_o by_o nature_n it_o be_v to_o be_v believe_v that_o the_o soul_n likewise_o be_v much_o more_o perfect_a shall_v bring_v with_o it_o those_o seed_n that_o appertain_v to_o the_o mind_n and_o to_o this_o reason_n they_o add_v that_o man_n even_o from_o their_o first_o year_n desire_v thing_n that_o be_v good_a true_a honest_a and_o profitable_a and_o since_o no_o man_n can_v desire_v a_o thing_n which_o he_o know_v not_o after_o some_o sort_n it_o may_v be_v conclude_v that_o we_o have_v the_o knowledge_n of_o those_o thing_n before_o but_o because_o it_o will_v be_v too_o long_a a_o matter_n to_o rehearse_v

authority_n and_o confirmation_n when_o he_o say_v that_o we_o ought_v to_o have_v such_o care_n of_o that_o soul_n which_o be_v in_o we_o according_a to_o the_o image_n of_o god_n that_o we_o shall_v esteem_v nothing_o how_o great_a or_o precious_a soever_o the_o world_n esteem_v it_o at_o so_o high_a a_o rate_n as_o for_o the_o purchase_n thereof_o we_o shall_v hurt_v or_o loose_v the_o same_o eternal_a sever_v from_o the_o corruptible_a part_n it_o appertain_v not_o to_o he_o to_o treat_v thereof_o in_o that_o place_n where_o he_o speak_v of_o the_o soul_n as_o she_o be_v the_o actor_n
