doubtless_o the_o power_n that_o father_n have_v over_o their_o child_n husband_n over_o their_o wife_n master_n over_o their_o servant_n be_v from_o heaven_n of_o god_n and_o not_o of_o men._n yet_o may_v be_v hold_v and_o take_v to_o be_v the_o king_n own_o immediate_a court_n the_o case_n be_v far_o otherwise_o for_o neither_o be_v the_o judge_n in_o those_o court_v swear_v the_o king_n judge_n to_o administer_v justice_n and_o do_v right_a to_o the_o king_n subject_n in_o his_o name_n and_o stead_n nor_o do_v they_o take_v upon_o they_o the_o authority_n to_o cite_v any_o person_n or_o to_o give_v any_o sentence_n or_o to_o do_v any_o act_n of_o jurisdiction_n in_o the_o king_n name_n have_v never_o be_v by_o he_o authorize_v so_o to_o do_v of_o this_o sort_n be_v among_o other_o best_o know_v to_o they_o that_o be_v skill_v in_o the_o law_n of_o this_o realm_n all_o courts-baron_n hold_v by_o the_o lord_n of_o a_o manner_n customary_a court_n of_o copyholder_n &c_n &c_n and_o such_o court_n as_o be_v hold_v by_o the_o king_n grant_v by_o charter_n to_o some_o corporation_n as_o to_o a_o city_n borough_n or_o university_n or_o else_o by_o long_a usage_n and_o prescription_n of_o time_n in_o all_o which_o court_v and_o if_o there_o be_v any_o other_o of_o like_a nature_n summons_n be_v issue_v out_o and_o judgement_n give_v and_o all_o other_o act_n and_o proceed_n make_v and_o do_v in_o the_o name_n of_o such_o person_n as_o have_v chief_a authority_n in_o the_o say_a court_n and_o not_o in_o the_o name_n of_o the_o king_n so_o as_o the_o style_n run_v thus_o a._n b._n major_n civitatis_fw-la ebor._n n._n m._n cancellarius_fw-la vniversitatis_fw-la oxon._n and_o the_o like_a and_o not_o carolus_n dei_fw-la gratia_fw-la etc._n etc._n vii_o upon_o this_o ground_n it_o be_v that_o our_o lawyer_n tell_v we_o out_o of_o bracton_n that_o in_o case_n of_o bastardy_n to_o be_v certify_v by_o the_o bishop_n no_o inferior_a court_n as_o london_n york_n norwich_n or_o any_o other_o incorporation_n can_v write_v to_o the_o bishop_n to_o require_v he_o to_o certify_v but_o any_o of_o the_o king_n court_n at_o westminister_n as_o common_a plea_n king_n bench_n etc._n etc._n may_v write_v to_o he_o to_o certify_v in_o that_o case_n the_o reason_n be_v because_o nullus_fw-la alius_fw-la praeter_fw-la regem_fw-la potest_fw-la episcopo_fw-la demandare_fw-la inquisitionem_fw-la faciendam_fw-la which_o make_v it_o plain_a that_o the_o king_n immediate_a powe_n either_o personal_a or_o virtual_a be_v by_o the_o law_n suppose_v to_o be_v present_a in_o court_n of_o the_o one_o sort_n not_o of_o the_o other_o the_o one_o sort_n be_v his_o own_o immediate_a court_n and_o the_o other_o not_o viii_o now_o that_o the_o ecclesiastical_a court_n wherein_o the_o bishop_n exercise_v their_o jurisdiction_n be_v of_o the_o latter_a sort_n i_o doubt_v not_o but_o our_o law-book_n will_v afford_v plenty_n of_o argument_n to_o prove_v it_o beyond_o all_o possibility_n of_o contradiction_n or_o cavil_n which_o be_v little_o verse_v in_o those_o study_n i_o leave_v for_o they_o to_o find_v out_o who_o have_v leisure_n to_o search_v the_o book_n and_o do_v better_o understand_v the_o nature_n constitution_n difference_n and_o bound_n of_o the_o several_a court_n within_o this_o realm_n one_o argument_n there_o be_v very_o obvious_a to_o every_o understanding_n which_o because_o i_o shall_v have_v fit_a occasion_n a_o little_a after_o to_o declare_v i_o will_v not_o now_o any_o long_o insist_v upon_o take_v from_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o jurisdiction_n of_o these_o court_n so_o far_o distant_a from_o the_o jurisdiction_n appertain_v to_o those_o other_o court_n that_o these_o be_v notorious_o separate_v and_o in_o common_a and_o vulgar_a speech_n distinguish_v from_o all_o other_o by_o the_o peculiar_a name_n and_o appellation_n of_o the_o spiritual_a court_n but_o another_o argument_n which_o those_o book_n have_v suggest_v i_o be_o the_o more_o willing_a here_o to_o produce_v for_o that_o it_o not_o only_o sufficient_o prove_v the_o matter_n now_o in_o hand_n but_o be_v also_o very_o needful_a to_o be_v better_o know_v abroad_o in_o the_o world_n than_o it_o be_v for_o the_o remove_n of_o a_o very_a unjust_a censure_n which_o mere_o for_o want_n of_o the_o knowledge_n of_o the_o true_a cause_n have_v be_v lay_v upon_o the_o bishop_n in_o one_o particular_a to_o their_o great_a wrong_n and_o prejudice_n it_o have_v be_v much_o talk_v on_o not_o only_o by_o the_o common_a sort_n of_o people_n but_o by_o some_o person_n also_o of_o better_a rank_n and_o understanding_n and_o impute_v to_o the_o bishop_n as_o a_o act_n of_o very_o high_a insolency_n that_o in_o their_o process_n patent_n commission_n licence_n and_o other_o instrument_n whereunto_o their_o episcopal_a seal_n be_v affix_v so_o oft_o as_o they_o have_v occasion_n to_o mention_v themselves_o the_o style_n run_v ever_o more_o in_o the_o plural_a number_n nos_fw-la g._n cantuar-archiepiscopus_a coram_fw-la nobis_fw-la salvo_n nobis_fw-la etc._n etc._n just_o as_o it_o do_v in_o his_o majesty_n letter_n patent_n and_o commission_n thereby_o show_v themselves_o say_v they_o as_o if_o they_o be_v his_o
