admission_n of_o member_n into_o the_o church_n as_o sacred_a and_o solemn_a a_o work_n as_o to_o confirm_v and_o build_v up_o the_o member_n of_o it_o these_o be_v the_o principal_a objection_n of_o the_o nonconformist_n against_o the_o liturgy_n which_o be_v some_o of_o they_o at_o least_o exemplify_v and_o confirm_v by_o many_o particular_n of_o lesser_a moment_n in_o themselves_o but_o all_o tend_v to_o make_v their_o desire_n of_o a_o reformation_n of_o the_o service_n book_n to_o seem_v reasonable_a and_o the_o work_n necessary_a rea._n 2._o the_o second_o thing_n the_o old_a nonconformist_n dislike_v in_o the_o church_n of_o england_n be_v the_o government_n of_o it_o by_o prelate_n i._n e._n bishop_n with_o sole_a power_n of_o jurisdiction_n many_o of_o the_o old_a nonconformist_n thought_n episcopacy_n utter_o unlawful_a and_o a_o usurpation_n not_o to_o be_v bear_v but_o the_o rest_n who_o look_v upon_o it_o as_o a_o humane_a constitution_n as_o our_o law_n do_v think_v it_o lawful_a and_o that_o it_o may_v be_v submit_v to_o do_v yet_o dislike_v our_o episcopacy_n partly_o because_o of_o the_o secular_a grandure_fw-fr power_n and_o employment_n our_o bishop_n be_v invest_v with_o which_o make_v they_o unable_a and_o unwilling_a to_o discharge_v the_o office_n of_o a_o pastor_n in_o the_o church_n partly_o because_o the_o church_n have_v nothing_o to_o do_v in_o their_o election_n except_o a_o empty_a show_n and_o therefore_o person_n be_v most_o common_o prefer_v not_o for_o true_a episcopal_a qualification_n but_o because_o they_o can_v make_v interest_n with_o superior_n but_o principal_o because_o the_o bishop_n arrogate_a to_o themselves_o the_o whole_a power_n of_o govern_v the_o church_n and_o exclude_v all_o the_o minister_n from_o any_o share_n therein_o a_o thing_n most_o unexcusable_a in_o they_o who_o acknowledge_v themselves_o to_o be_v of_o the_o same_o order_n with_o the_o presbyter_n and_o only_o in_o a_o degree_n of_o honour_n above_o they_o and_o that_o by_o the_o authority_n of_o the_o civil_a magistrate_n whereas_o even_o those_o that_o with_o any_o probability_n or_o sobriety_n maintain_v the_o divine_a right_n of_o episcopacy_n do_v nevertheless_o acknowledge_v that_o he_o may_v neither_o ordain_v nor_o govern_v without_o the_o advice_n and_o consent_n of_o his_o presbyter_n this_o be_v look_v upon_o as_o intolerable_a that_o the_o power_n of_o govern_v the_o church_n which_o be_v commit_v by_o christ_n to_o all_o his_o minister_n shall_v be_v wrest_v from_o they_o general_o by_o a_o few_o church_n edification_n r._n 3d._n the_o nonconformist_n be_v much_o dissatisfy_v about_o the_o discipline_n of_o the_o church_n both_o in_o respect_n of_o the_o rule_n of_o it_o and_o the_o officer_n that_o manage_v it_o the_o rule_n they_o say_v be_v not_o take_v out_o of_o the_o scripture_n which_o be_v the_o only_a rule_n and_o law_n of_o christ_n church_n but_o it_o be_v the_o roman_a civil_a and_o canon_n law_n which_o at_o best_o be_v suit_v to_o their_o own_o time_n and_o people_n in_o many_o thing_n very_o defective_a and_o in_o other_o erroneous_a and_o superstitious_a there_o
be_v indeed_o some_o appoint_v by_o k._n edward_n to_o collect_v a_o body_n of_o good_a and_o useful_a rule_n out_o of_o the_o canon_n law_n to_o be_v the_o rule_n of_o discipline_n for_o this_o church_n but_o he_o die_v that_o work_n be_v never_o finish_v so_o that_o the_o rule_n now_o be_v the_o whole_a canon-law_n or_o so_o much_o as_o every_o bishop_n please_v to_o use_v in_o his_o own_o diocese_n the_o bishop_n make_v a_o few_o canon_n of_o their_o own_o 1603._o but_o they_o be_v such_o as_o only_o strengthen_v their_o own_o power_n in_o impose_v and_o enforce_v those_o thing_n surplice_n in_o read_v the_o service_n and_o kneel_v in_o receive_v the_o lord_n supper_n against_o these_o they_o except_v several_o 1._o against_o the_o cross_n that_o it_o be_v abuse_v to_o great_a superstition_n and_o idolatry_n in_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n and_o particular_o when_o it_o be_v use_v in_o baptism_n have_v divine_a power_n ascribe_v to_o it_o of_o drive_v away_o the_o devil_n give_v grace_n etc._n etc._n therefore_o be_v neither_o command_v of_o god_n nor_o use_v in_o this_o manner_n in_o the_o primitive_a church_n viz._n to_o admit_v member_n into_o the_o church_n by_o
