bread_n where_o be_v no_o bread_n and_o to_o see_v wine_n and_o taste_v wine_n where_o be_v no_o wine_n for_o so_o be_v they_o make_v to_o believe_v and_o to_o eat_v flesh_n and_o drink_v blood_n and_o yet_o neither_o to_o see_v nor_o take_v flesh_n nor_o blood_n this_o be_v a_o wonder_n to_o wonder_v at_o and_o who_o will_v not_o follow_v he_o for_o a_o guide_n that_o have_v power_n to_o work_v such_o wonder_n but_o they_o do_v not_o only_o follow_v the_o beast_n as_o the_o jew_n do_v christ_n when_o they_o see_v his_o miracle_n but_o they_o worship_v the_o dragon_n which_o give_v power_n unto_o the_o beast_n and_o they_o worship_v the_o beast_n say_v who_o be_v like_a unto_o the_o beast_n who_o be_v able_a to_o make_v war_n with_o he_o to_o worship_n be_v to_o hear_v and_o obey_v and_o by_o worship_v the_o dragon_n be_v show_v that_o they_o whole_o addict_v themselves_o to_o be_v direct_v and_o rule_v by_o the_o beast_n who_o the_o dragon_n use_v as_o his_o instrument_n to_o work_v his_o will_n and_o to_o who_o he_o have_v give_v authority_n and_o power_n to_o that_o end_n thus_o original_o they_o worship_v the_o devil_n second_o they_o worship_v the_o beast_n as_o be_v the_o instrument_n of_o the_o devil_n and_o they_o become_v subject_n in_o all_o thing_n obedient_a unto_o the_o beast_n as_o be_v of_o such_o holiness_n and_o truth_n as_o that_o it_o can_v not_o err_v nor_o deceive_v other_o and_o of_o such_o power_n as_o what_o they_o loose_v on_o earth_n be_v loose_v in_o heaven_n and_o what_o they_o bind_v in_o earth_n be_v bind_v in_o heaven_n and_o therefore_o such_o a_o power_n as_o have_v no_o match_n or_o peer_n so_o that_o they_o boast_v and_o say_v of_o it_o who_o be_v like_a unto_o the_o beast_n as_o david_n consider_v the_o power_n and_o wonderful_a work_n of_o god_n say_v who_o be_v like_a unto_o the_o lord_n so_o do_v the_o nation_n boast_v of_o this_o beast_n say_v who_o be_v like_a unto_o the_o beast_n and_o further_o they_o say_v of_o he_o who_o be_v able_a to_o make_v war_n with_o he_o as_o if_o they_o shall_v say_v this_o our_o holy_a mother_n have_v power_n to_o excommunicate_v and_o deliver_v to_o satan_n all_o of_o what_o estate_n condition_n degree_n soever_o they_o be_v that_o will_v not_o hear_v her_o voice_n bear_v her_o yoke_n and_o be_v rule_v by_o she_o who_o therefore_o be_v able_a to_o make_v war_n with_o of_o the_o beast_n and_o declare_v and_o utter_v the_o mind_n and_o will_n of_o the_o beast_n as_o be_v equal_a to_o god_n word_n this_o their_o canon_n law_n book_n and_o monument_n do_v manifest_o witness_v the_o effect_n of_o that_o which_o this_o mouth_n utter_v be_v note_v to_o be_v great_a thing_n and_o blasphemy_n they_o boast_v of_o this_o beast_n that_o she_o be_v the_o holy_a catholic_a church_n militant_a the_o mother_n of_o all_o rrue_a believer_n the_o chaste_a spouse_n of_o christ_n the_o pillar_n and_o ground_n of_o truth_n that_o it_o can_v err_v etc._n etc._n and_o that_o all_o which_o will_v have_v god_n to_o be_v their_o father_n must_v have_v she_o to_o be_v their_o mother_n final_o that_o out_o of_o her_o lap_n and_o communion_n there_o be_v no_o salvation_n these_o and_o many_o other_o such_o great_a thing_n speak_v the_o mouth_n of_o this_o beast_n which_o be_v indeed_o great_a thing_n and_o be_v so_o speak_v be_v great_a blasphemy_n for_o be_v it_o not_o great_a blasphemy_n to_o call_v that_o holy_a which_o be_v most_o abominable_a to_o call_v she_o the_o mother_n of_o all_o true_a believer_n which_o be_v the_o mother_n of_o fornication_n and_o of_o all_o abomination_n to_o call_v that_o the_o pillar_n and_o ground_n of_o truth_n which_o have_v corrupt_v the_o earth_n with_o her_o error_n and_o fornication_n and_o cause_v all_o nation_n to_o drink_v of_o the_o wine_n of_o the_o wrath_n thereof_o to_o say_v there_o be_v no_o salvation_n but_o in_o her_o fellowship_n who_o end_n and_o judgement_n be_v to_o go_v to_o destruction_n beware_v of_o false_a prophet_n and_o teacher_n of_o lie_n for_o such_o be_v the_o mouth_n of_o this_o beast_n and_o it_o be_v further_a to_o be_v mind_v that_o it_o be_v say_v of_o this_o beast_n that_o the_o mouth_n which_o she_o have_v be_v give_v she_o for_o have_v this_o beast_n no_o more_o to_o maintain_v this_o mouth_n than_o she_o have_v of_o she_o own_o by_o descent_n and_o heritage_n she_o can_v not_o have_v so_o many_o to_o speak_v for_o she_o as_o she_o have_v but_o emperor_n and_o king_n prince_n and_o noble_n and_o other_o great_a sinner_n become_v benefactor_n to_o this_o beast_n give_v unto_o her_o land_n and_o tenement_n rent_n and_o revenue_n to_o maintain_v this_o mouth_n to_o utter_v great_a thing_n and_o blasphemy_n and_o more_o than_o this_o power_n be_v give_v he_o to_o act_v or_o make_v two_o and_o forty_o month_n for_o the_o better_a understanding_n of_o this_o point_n let_v this_o be_v consider_v in_o the_o antichristian_a kingdom_n they_o have_v a_o rule_n how_o to_o proceed_v in_o every_o cause_n but_o not_o give_v they_o of_o god_n but_o of_o their_o own_o make_n which_o they_o common_o call_v the_o canon_n law_n concern_v which_o law_n here_o we_o may_v learn_v by_o who_o it_o be_v make_v and_o how_o long_o it_o be_v in_o make_v these_o maket_n usurp_v the_o name_n of_o the_o church_n of_o christ_n but_o the_o true_a church_n be_v the_o kingdom_n of_o christ_n and_o be_v the_o kingdom_n of_o christ_n it_o have_v he_o only_o for_o lawgiver_n they_o therefore_o which_o under_o the_o title_n of_o the_o church_n presume_v to_o make_v law_n be_v fit_o and_o worthy_o resemble_v by_o a_o beast_n for_o what_o be_v more_o unreasonable_a then_o for_o those_o who_o great_a dignity_n glory_n and_o happiness_n consist_v in_o hear_v obey_v and_o administer_a of_o god_n word_n to_o fall_v from_o this_o and_o lucifer-like_a to_o exalt_v and_o oppose_v themselves_o against_o their_o maker_n as_o though_o they_o be_v wise_a and_o just_a than_o god_n and_o to_o add_v unto_o his_o testament_n which_o be_v suficient_a to_o instruct_v we_o in_o all_o wisdom_n and_o to_o make_v the_o man_n of_o god_n perfect_a in_o every_o good_a work_n and_o to_o take_v from_o the_o same_o testament_n at_o their_o pleasure_n which_o be_v not_o lawful_a to_o do_v to_o any_o man_n testament_n without_o great_a offence_n and_o injustice_n as_o the_o apostle_n show_v ga._n 3.15_o yet_o thit_n be_v the_o way_n wherein_o those_o great_a doer_n the_o author_n of_o the_o canon_n law_n have_v walk_v it_o be_v say_v of_o those_o actor_n that_o power_n be_v give_v they_o etc._n etc._n where_o first_o we_o may_v observe_v that_o of_o themselves_o they_o have_v not_o this_o power_n for_o than_o it_o can_v not_o have_v be_v say_v to_o be_v give_v they_o but_o give_v they_o it_o be_v it_o be_v therefore_o to_o be_v consider_v who_o be_v the_o giver_n not_o christ_n he_o give_v his_o disciple_n no_o power_n to_o make_v law_n but_o give_v they_o charge_n to_o tooth_n beliver_v to_o observe_v all_o thing_n whatsoever_o he_o have_v command_v they_o it_o be_v certain_a therefore_o that_o this_o power_n be_v give_v they_o not_o by_o god_n but_o by_o man_n namely_o by_o king_n and_o prince_n for_o the_o state_n and_o degree_n of_o man_n consider_v it_o be_v plain_a that_o none_o can_v give_v power_n to_o make_v law_n but_o such_o as_o be_v sovereign_n by_o such_o therefore_o this_o power_n to_o make_v law_n be_v give_v unto_o this_o beast_n but_o what_o shall_v move_v sovereign_n to_o give_v power_n to_o bishop_n
all_o the_o great_a clerk_n wise_a counselor_n mighty_a prince_n and_o all_o the_o noble_n of_o the_o earth_n who_o i_o say_v have_v a_o ear_n to_o hear_v these_o thing_n and_o not_o be_v move_v to_o fret_v in_o himself_o and_o to_o gnash_v his_o tooth_n at_o the_o hear_n of_o they_o yet_o notwithstanding_o all_o this_o and_o more_o let_v he_o that_o have_v a_o ear_n hear_v for_o time_n and_o season_n will_v change_v a_o time_n will_v come_v as_o the_o verse_n follow_v do_v declare_v when_o these_o great_a worker_n of_o iniquity_n shall_v be_v subdue_v and_o tread_v under_o foot_n he_o endure_v affliction_n for_o the_o truth_n and_o commit_v their_o cause_n unto_o god_n rest_v faithful_o upon_o he_o be_v thereby_o try_v and_o make_v manifest_a to_o the_o world_n to_o be_v the_o saint_n and_o servant_n of_o god_n that_o in_o sure_a hope_n of_o a_o time_n of_o refresh_v choose_v to_o endure_v captivity_n and_o the_o sword_n rather_o than_o they_o will_v to_o have_v peace_n with_o the_o world_n together_o with_o the_o world_n worship_v the_o beast_n thus_o much_o concern_v the_o first_o part_n of_o this_o chapter_n and_o of_o that_o power_n and_o promotion_n which_o the_o prelate_n and_o clergy_n crope_v up_o unto_o before_o the_o exaltation_n and_o supremacy_n of_o the_o pope_n the_o mystery_n of_o who_o iniquity_n be_v next_o to_o be_v consider_v to_o god_n be_v glory_n for_o ever_o the_o second_o part_n of_o the_o xiii_o chapter_n of_o the_o revelation_n begin_v at_o the_o xi_o verse_n verse_n xi_o and_o i_o heheld_v another_o beast_n come_v up_o out_o of_o the_o earth_n and_o he_o have_v two_o horn_n like_o a_o lamb_n and_o he_o speak_v as_o a_o dragon_n as_o in_o the_o former_a part_n of_o this_o chapter_n the_o prelacy_n and_o clergy_n in_o general_a who_o under_o the_o title_n of_o the_o catholic_a church_n militant_a exalt_v themselves_o to_o work_v iniquity_n and_o bring_v the_o nation_n into_o captivity_n and_o bondage_n to_o their_o tradition_n be_v resemble_v by_o a_o seven-headed_a beast_n so_o here_o after_o much_o strive_n among_o themselves_o who_o shall_v be_v the_o chief_a and_o great_a not_o be_v content_a with_o former_a riches_n honour_n and_o earthly_a promotion_n but_o aspire_v high_o at_o last_o the_o prelate_n of_o rome_n in_o particular_a attain_v to_o this_o title_n and_o dignity_n to_o be_v christ_n vicar_n peter_n successor_n and_o universal_a bishop_n and_o under_o that_o title_n pretend_v a_o fullness_n of_o power_n and_o supremacy_n over_o all_o person_n and_o cause_n and_o therefore_o be_v here_o resemble_v and_o fore_o show_v by_o a_o beast_n etc._n etc._n first_o whereas_o it_o be_v say_v of_o this_o beast_n that_o it_o come_v out_o of_o the_o earth_n thereby_o be_v signify_v that_o the_o high_a degree_n and_o dignity_n whereunto_o the_o prelate_n of_o rome_n have_v aspire_v and_o exalt_v themselves_o be_v not_o from_o heaven_n it_o be_v from_o the_o earth_n earthly_a it_o be_v a_o plant_n which_o our_o heavenly_a father_n have_v not_o plant_v and_o therefore_o shall_v in_o the_o end_n be_v root_v out_o concern_v the_o come_n up_o of_o this_o beast_n it_o be_v to_o be_v mind_v that_o the_o minister_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n of_o which_o rank_n of_o man_n this_o beast_n boast_v himself_o to_o be_v the_o chief_a if_o they_o be_v in_o their_o right_a kind_n shall_v be_v as_o the_o star_n of_o heaven_n light_n and_o guide_v unto_o other_o but_o at_o the_o open_n of_o the_o six_o seal_n john_n see_v the_o star_n fall_v from_o heaven_n to_o the_o earth_n as_o a_o figtree_n cast_v her_o green_a fig_n when_o she_o be_v shake_v of_o a_o mighty_a wind_n whereby_o be_v signify_v that_o the_o minister_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n will_v in_o time_n degenerate_a and_o go_v out_o of_o kind_n they_o will_v contrary_a to_o the_o apostle_n rule_v set_v their_o affection_n on_o earthly_a thing_n they_o will_v for_o filthy_a lucre_n make_v merchandise_n of_o the_o people_n and_o word_n of_o god_n they_o will_v gather_v riches_n and_o grow_v wealthy_a by_o the_o wage_n of_o unrighteousness_n and_o so_o become_v the_o great_a man_n of_o the_o earth_n all_o which_o be_v fulfil_v and_o come_v to_o pass_v as_o all_o may_v see_v that_o be_v not_o willing_o blind_a among_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o fall_v star_n to_o one_o be_v give_v the_o key_n of_o the_o bottomless_a pit_n rev._n 9_o 1._o whereby_o be_v signify_v that_o power_n and_o pre-eminence_n shall_v be_v give_v to_o one_o of_o the_o fall_v star_n above_o the_o rest_n which_o thing_n be_v effect_v &_o come_v to_o pass_v when_o phocas_n be_v emperor_n he_o promote_v boniface_n than_o prelate_n of_o rome_n to_o be_v universal_a bishop_n and_o to_o have_v power_n and_o jurisdiction_n over_o all_o other_o bishop_n which_o thing_n when_o phocas_n have_v do_v this_o abaddon_n king_n of_o locust_n with_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o brood_n of_o the_o bottomless_a pit_n that_o succeed_v he_o who_o have_v the_o open_n and_o shut_v of_o purgatory_n at_o their_o pleasure_n so_o prevail_v in_o time_n that_o they_o exalt_v themselves_o above_o emperor_n and_o king_n which_o thing_n they_o can_v never_o have_v do_v have_v they_o not_o first_o besot_v the_o nation_n in_o blind_a devotion_n to_o impoverish_v themselves_o to_o feed_v these_o locust_n under_o the_o title_n of_o the_o church_n and_o in_o hope_n of_o merit_v thereby_o and_o to_o be_v release_v from_o their_o sin_n and_o from_o the_o suppose_a pain_n of_o purgatory_n for_o have_v the_o pope_n that_o prelate_n of_o rome_n be_v as_o destitute_a of_o worldly_a wealth_n and_o as_o well_o furnish_v with_o spiritual_a grace_n as_o peter_z and_o john_n be_v when_o they_o go_v up_o into_o the_o temple_n to_o pray_v and_o heal_v the_o lame_a man_n he_o have_v never_o set_v his_o foot_n upon_o the_o emperor_n neck_n for_o as_o much_o therefore_o as_o the_o romish_a prelate_n from_o a_o mean_a and_o lowly_a estate_n and_o degree_n in_o the_o world_n have_v creep_v up_o and_o be_v exalt_v above_o king_n and_o emperor_n and_o see_v worldly_a wealth_n and_o riches_n have_v be_v the_o mean_n whereby_o he_o have_v get_v the_o pre-eminence_n very_o significant_o be_v this_o upstart_n resemble_v and_o prefigure_v by_o a_o beast_n come_v up_o out_o of_o the_o earth_n again_o it_o be_v say_v of_o this_o beast_n that_o it_o have_v two_o horn_n like_o the_o lamb_n by_o horn_n in_o the_o scripture_n be_v usual_o signify_v power_n and_o authority_n and_o by_o the_o lamb_n be_v mean_v christ_n jesus_n who_o have_v all_o power_n in_o heaven_n and_o earth_n give_v to_o he_o mat._n 28.18_o so_o that_o hereby_o be_v show_v that_o the_o prelate_n of_o rome_n will_v challenge_v and_o usurp_v great_a power_n and_o authority_n which_o he_o persuade_v the_o world_n do_v belong_v unto_o he_o as_o be_v christ_n vicar_n and_o under_o this_o pretence_n usurp_v a_o twofold_a power_n and_o jurisdiction_n both_o civil_a and_o ecclesiastical_a not_o in_o earth_n only_o but_o in_o heaven_n also_o what_o he_o bind_v in_o earth_n be_v bind_v in_o heaven_n and_o who_o he_o will_v he_o can_v release_v from_o the_o pain_n of_o purgatory_n and_o place_v they_o in_o heaven_n therefore_o in_o token_n of_o this_o his_o power_n he_o be_v arm_v with_o two_o sword_n which_o thing_n be_v plain_o signify_v by_o the_o two_o horn_n which_o he_o have_v like_o the_o lamb._n but_o though_o the_o beast_n will_v be_v the_o lamb_n equal_a and_o resemble_v he_o in_o power_n yet_o his_o voice_n betray_v he_o to_o be_v but_o a_o counterfeit_n and_o a_o dissemble_a hypocrite_n he_o speak_v like_o the_o dragon_n he_o pretend_v property_n to_o that_o which_o be_v not_o his_o own_o and_o exalt_v himself_o against_o those_o unto_o who_o he_o shall_v submit_v and_o give_v honour_n even_o as_o
we_o be_v fall_v and_o be_v enemy_n and_o opposer_n of_o christ_n and_o his_o kingdom_n it_o do_v behoove_v we_o to_o know_v they_o to_o the_o end_n that_o we_o may_v eschew_v they_o and_o their_o evil_a way_n and_o seek_v after_o the_o truth_n make_v strait_a step_n unto_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n now_o that_o we_o ourselves_o may_v make_v particular_a use_n hereof_o it_o be_v necessary_a for_o we_o to_o examine_v the_o nationall_n synod_n or_o convocation_n consist_v of_o the_o prelacy_n and_o clergy_n of_o the_o land_n who_o whilst_o they_o remain_v under_o the_o yoke_n and_o bondage_n of_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n and_o whilst_o they_o exercise_v their_o power_n which_o be_v first_o give_v they_o by_o the_o pope_n for_o and_o in_o the_o behalf_n of_o that_o church_n and_o dominion_n they_o be_v the_o very_a image_n of_o the_o first_o beast_n before_o mention_v but_o be_v now_o separate_v from_o the_o pope_n and_o church_n of_o rome_n they_o think_v as_o it_o shall_v seem_v that_o their_o spiritual_a pontifical_a power_n and_o authority_n which_o they_o exercise_v be_v lawful_a and_o warrantable_a and_o to_o be_v submit_v unto_o they_o be_v gather_v together_o boast_v themselves_o to_o be_v the_o representative_a body_n of_o the_o church_n of_o england_n and_o the_o true_a church_n of_o christ_n and_o that_o they_o have_v power_n to_o make_v law_n and_o canon_n for_o government_n thereof_o and_o for_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n which_o all_o man_n ought_v to_o yield_v obedience_n unto_o as_o appeareth_z by_o divers_a of_o their_o book_n the_o 19_o and_o 20._o verse_n and_o the_o apostle_n paul_n bid_v the_o corinthian_n 1_o cor._n 11.1_o to_o be_v follower_n of_o he_o as_o he_o follow_v christ_n and_o in_o the_o same_o chapter_n he_o also_o say_v that_o which_o he_o have_v receive_v of_o the_o lord_n he_o deliver_v unto_o they_o 15._o act_n 15._o also_o the_o assembly_n of_o the_o apostle_n and_o elder_n of_o the_o church_n of_o jerusalem_n they_o will_v not_o impose_v any_o yoke_n of_o bondage_n upon_o the_o church_n of_o christ_n but_o hold_v it_o to_o be_v a_o tempt_a of_o god_n so_o to_o do_v as_o before_o have_v be_v
