show_v the_o mortify_n of_o the_o old_a man_n and_o the_o quicken_a of_o the_o new_a man_n so_o speak_v we_o better_o with_o the_o apostle_n than_o if_o we_o shall_v follow_v they_o who_o make_v contrition_n and_o faith_n the_o part_n of_o conversion_n now_o by_o contrition_n they_o understand_v also_o mortification_n by_o faith_n they_o understand_v the_o joy_n which_o follow_v the_o study_n of_o righteousness_n &_o new_a obedience_n which_o be_v indeed_o effect_n of_o say_v but_o not_o faith_n itself_o and_o co●●ition_n go_v before_o conversion_n neither_o be_v conversion_n itself_o nor_o any_o p●rt_n thereof_o but_o only_o a_o prepare_n of_o man_n unto_o conversion_n and_o that_o in_o the_o liect_n only_o not_o in_o other_o and_o this_o be_v the_o reason_n why_o they_o begin_v the_o preach_n of_o repentance_n from_o the_o law_n &_o then_o come_v unto_o the_o gospel_n &_o so_o come_v back_o again_o unto_o the_o law_n the_o old_a man_n which_o be_v mortify_v be_v a_o mere_a sinner_n only_o namely_o our_o corrupt_a nature_n the_o new_a man_n which_o be_v quicken_v be_v he_o who_o begin_v to_o cease_v from_o sin_n namely_o as_o our_o nature_n be_v regenerate_v mortification_n mortification_n mortification_n contain_v 1_o a_o knowledge_n of_o sin_n 2_o a_o grief_n for_o sin_n and_o for_o the_o offend_n of_o god_n 3_o the_o fly_v and_o shun_v of_o sin_n by_o which_o mortification_n contain_v because_o the_o affection_n of_o the_o hart_n follow_v knowledge_n wherefore_o knowledge_n or_o acknowledgement_n shall_v be_v a_o part_n or_o at_o least_o a_o cause_n of_o the_o other_o two_o part_n in_o both_o part_n of_o conversion_n the_o grief_n which_o be_v in_o the_o wicked_a when_o they_o repent_v be_v a_o grief_n for_o the_o evil_a either_o to_o come_v or_o present_a which_o be_v punishment_n but_o the_o grief_n which_o be_v in_o the_o godly_a when_o they_o repent_v be_v
