whereas_o they_o have_v the_o great_a work_n upon_o they_o of_o preach_v the_o gospel_n unto_o all_o nation_n they_o can_v not_o continue_v long_o or_o reside_v in_o any_o one_o place_n or_o church_n and_o yet_o when_o person_n be_v new_o convert_v to_o the_o faith_n and_o dispose_v only_o into_o a_o imperfect_a order_n without_o any_o especial_a peculiar_a officer_n guide_n or_o ruler_n of_o their_o own_o it_o be_v not_o safe_a leave_v of_o they_o unto_o themselves_o lest_o they_o shall_v be_v too_o much_o at_o a_o loss_n as_o to_o gospel-order_n and_o worship_n wherefore_o in_o such_o place_n where_o any_o church_n be_v plant_v but_o not_o complete_v nor_o will_v the_o design_n of_o the_o apostle_n suffer_v they_o to_o continue_v any_o long_o there_o they_o leave_v these_o to_o be_v a_o bishop_n be_v express_o call_v a_o evangelist_n that_o which_o be_v plead_v with_o most_o probability_n for_o their_o continuance_n be_v the_o necessity_n of_o the_o work_n wherein_o they_o be_v employ_v in_o the_o rule_n and_o settlement_n of_o the_o church_n but_o the_o truth_n be_v if_o their_o whole_a work_n as_o before_o describe_v be_v consult_v as_o none_o can_v perform_v some_o part_n of_o it_o so_o it_o may_v be_v very_o few_o will_v over-earnest_o press_v after_o a_o participation_n of_o their_o office_n for_o to_o preach_v the_o word_n continual_o and_o that_o with_o it_o this_o be_v that_o which_o some_o pretend_v a_o succession_n unto_o though_o they_o be_v neither_o call_v like_o they_o nor_o gift_v like_o they_o nor_o labour_n like_o they_o nor_o have_v the_o same_o object_n of_o their_o employment_n much_o less_o the_o same_o power_n of_o extraordinary_n operation_n with_o they_o yet_o as_o to_o the_o rule_n over_o sundry_a church_n they_o must_v needs_o be_v their_o successor_n i_o shall_v therefore_o brief_o do_v these_o two_o thing_n 1_o show_v that_o there_o be_v no_o such_o officer_n as_o these_o evangelist_n
a_o ministry_n without_o gift_n be_v no_o ministry_n of_o christ_n give_v nor_o be_v of_o any_o other_o use_v in_o the_o church_n but_o to_o deceive_v the_o soul_n of_o men._n to_o set_v up_o such_o a_o ministry_n be_v both_o to_o despise_v christ_n and_o utter_o to_o frustrate_v the_o end_n of_o the_o ministry_n those_o for_o which_o christ_n give_v it_o and_o which_o be_v here_o express_v for_o 1_o ministerial_a gift_n and_o grace_n be_v the_o great_a evidence_n that_o the_o lord_n christ_n take_v care_n of_o his_o church_n and_o provide_v for_o it_o as_o call_v into_o the_o order_n and_o into_o the_o duty_n of_o a_o church_n to_o set_v up_o a_o ministry_n which_o may_v be_v continue_v by_o outward_a form_n and_o order_n of_o man_n only_o without_o any_o communication_n of_o gift_n from_o christ_n be_v to_o despise_v his_o authority_n and_o care_n neither_o be_v it_o his_o mind_n that_o any_o church_n shall_v continue_v in_o order_n any_o long_o or_o otherwise_o than_o as_o he_o bestow_v these_o gift_n for_o the_o ministry_n 2_o that_o these_o gift_n be_v the_o only_a mean_n and_o instrument_n whereby_o the_o work_n of_o the_o ministry_n may_v be_v perform_v and_o the_o end_n of_o the_o ministry_n attain_v shall_v be_v far_o declare_v immediate_o the_o end_n of_o the_o ministry_n here_o mention_v call_v its_o work_n be_v the_o perfect_a of_o the_o saint_n and_o the_o church_n for_o the_o very_a be_v of_o the_o church_n depend_v on_o their_o power_n of_o office_n but_o this_o without_o such_o a_o immediate_a power_n from_o christ_n no_o man_n can_v pretend_v unto_o and_o what_o be_v do_v original_o by_o their_o person_n be_v now_o do_v by_o their_o word_n and_o doctrine_n for_o the_o church_n be_v build_v on_o the_o foundation_n of_o the_o apostle_n and_o prophet_n jesus_n christ_n himself_o be_v the_o chief_a cornerstone_n eph._n 2._o 20._o 2_o there_o be_v a_o state_n of_o the_o church_n in_o its_o edification_n which_o be_v to_o be_v carry_v on_o according_a to_o the_o rule_n and_o law_n give_v by_o christ_n in_o the_o ordinary_a administration_n of_o all_o the_o ordinance_n and_o institution_n of_o the_o gospel_n to_o this_o end_n christ_n give_v ordinary_a officer_n pastor_n and_o teacher_n who_o by_o his_o direction_n be_v ordain_v in_o every_o church_n act_v 14._o 23_o 24._o and_o these_o be_v all_o the_o teach_v officer_n that_o he_o do_v it_o by_o the_o law_n and_o rule_n of_o the_o gospel_n wherein_o he_o have_v appoint_v this_o office_n of_o the_o ministry_n in_o his_o church_n and_o so_o always_o to_o be_v continue_v be_v there_o not_o such_o a_o stand_a ordinance_n and_o institution_n of_o he_o it_o be_v not_o in_o the_o power_n of_o all_o the_o church_n in_o the_o world_n to_o appoint_v any_o such_o among_o they_o the_o holy_a ghost_n for_o the_o comfort_v of_o the_o church_n his_o infinite_a power_n be_v peculiar_o to_o be_v consider_v so_o the_o apostle_n propose_v it_o unto_o the_o weak_a believer_n for_o their_o supportment_n and_o that_o which_o shall_v assure_v they_o of_o the_o victory_n in_o their_o conflict_n that_o great_a be_v he_o that_o be_v in_o they_o than_o he_o that_o be_v in_o the_o world_n 1_o john_n 4._o 4._o that_o holy_a spirit_n which_o be_v bestow_v on_o they_o and_o dwell_v in_o they_o be_v great_a more_o able_a and_o powerful_a than_o satan_n that_o attempt_v their_o
