forcible_a thing_n than_o that_o which_o cause_v a_o godly_a sorrow_n and_o cause_v our_o conscience_n to_o be_v prick_v what_o so_o able_a to_o prick_v our_o conscience_n as_o the_o word_n of_o god_n indeed_o many_o feel_v sorrow_n and_o be_v inward_o prick_v but_o because_o therewith_o be_v not_o join_v the_o power_n of_o god_n word_n they_o be_v either_o senseless_a as_o block_n or_o in_o their_o feel_n they_o be_v murmurer_n this_o come_v unto_o we_o by_o the_o dignity_n of_o god_n word_n in_o that_o no_o wonder_n from_o heaven_n no_o miracle_n on_o earth_n can_v touch_v our_o heart_n and_o work_v in_o we_o any_o good_a fruit_n without_o the_o same_o for_o though_o the_o lord_n shall_v show_v unto_o we_o all_o the_o wonder_n from_o heaven_n which_o he_o show_v on_o the_o old_a heaven_n no_o trouble_n from_o earth_n can_v humble_v way_n we_o no_o blessing_n from_o above_o no_o benefit_n from_o beneath_o can_v profit_v we_o until_o the_o word_n of_o god_n come_v which_o teach_v the_o old_a way_n to_o forsake_v it_o the_o new_a way_n to_o enter_v into_o it_o and_o the_o perfect_a way_n to_o continue_v in_o it_o and_o thus_o much_o for_o the_o general_a scope_n of_o this_o doctrine_n now_o more_o particular_o we_o may_v observe_v in_o this_o first_o part_n three_o thing_n first_o the_o power_n note_n of_o the_o word_n to_o prick_v our_o conscience_n second_o that_o this_o prick_n must_v not_o cause_v in_o we_o a_o more_o rebel_a against_o the_o word_n and_o minister_n thereof_o but_o rather_o a_o great_a reverence_n to_o they_o both_o three_o such_o prick_v must_v prepare_v we_o to_o a_o great_a desire_n to_o profit_n for_o the_o first_o sin_n we_o must_v know_v that_o this_o be_v the_o begin_n of_o repentance_n &_o this_o be_v the_o entry_n to_o godliness_n even_o to_o conceive_v a_o sorrow_n for_o our_o sin_n and_o so_o be_v wound_v with_o a_o feel_n of_o our_o evil_n for_o as_o long_o as_o man_n be_v secure_a it_o be_v not_o possible_a offer_v ourselves_o to_o christ_n alone_o in_o psalm_n 51._o vers_fw-la 18._o 19_o the_o prophet_n likewise_o show_v that_o no_o sacrifice_n be_v acceptable_a to_o god_n without_o a_o contrite_a heart_n that_o be_v neither_o prayer_n neither_o almes-giving_a neither_o praise_n of_o thanksgiving_n unless_o we_o bring_v a_o humble_a and_o contrite_a spirit_n with_o we_o cast_v ourselves_o many_o will_v be_v ready_a in_o hear_v to_o snatch_v at_o this_o and_o that_o if_o any_o thing_n may_v make_v to_o cloak_n their_o licentiousness_n who_o as_o they_o have_v itch_a ear_n and_o greedy_a mind_n to_o hunt_v after_o evil_n so_o by_o the_o just_a judgement_n of_o god_n they_o fall_v into_o the_o misunderstanding_n of_o the_o word_n and_o to_o speak_v the_o truth_n do_v we_o think_v that_o the_o devil_n like_o a_o roar_a lion_n compass_v we_o about_o the_o flesh_n daily_o rebell_v against_o the_o spirit_n the_o world_n continuil_o sight_v against_o we_o be_v we_o true_o conscious_a of_o that_o ignorance_n which_o overwhelm_v we_o and_o guilty_a of_o those_o manifold_a temptation_n which_o daily_o overcome_v we_o and_o shall_v we_o not_o think_v that_o there_o be_v great_a need_n to_o use_v the_o mean_n to_o withstand_v these_o which_o be_v the_o word_n and_o prayer_n nay_o god_n child_n notwithstanding_o they_o use_v prayer_n fervent_o and_o accustom_v themselves_o to_o the_o word_n diligent_o note_n feel_v the_o devil_n so_o strong_a the_o flesh_n so_o subtle_a the_o world_n so_o deceivable_a that_o they_o think_v not_o the_o sabbath_n sufficient_a but_o redeem_v all_o time_n possible_a to_o bestow_v in_o the_o mean_n to_o withstand_v their_o assault_n beside_o if_o we_o must_v needs_o eat_v every_o day_n to_o preserve_v natural_a life_n needs_o must_v we_o give_v ourselves_o to_o the_o word_n and_o prayer_n every_o day_n to_o preserve_v that_o life_n which_o we_o sermon_n have_v in_o christ_n jesus_n two_o sermon_n on_o the_o sabbath_n be_v not_o sufficient_a for_o a_o man_n to_o feed_v on_o all_o the_o week_n after_o if_o he_o be_v well_o acquaint_v with_o his_o own_o want_n if_o he_o true_o consider_v of_o his_o danger_n our_o saviour_n christ_n will_v we_o if_o we_o will_v obtain_v to_o ask_v earnest_o if_o we_o will_v find_v to_o seek_v diligent_o if_o we_o will_v enter_v to_o knock_v continual_o furthermore_o this_o we_o that_o our_o memory_n be_v quick_a our_o sense_n be_v ready_a our_o natural_a power_n able_a in_o the_o morning_n for_o meditation_n because_o our_o mind_n be_v then_o free_a from_o ill_a vain_a and_o worldly_a thought_n our_o memory_n be_v renew_v and_o have_v recover_v far_o great_a strength_n our_o sense_n be_v not_o inveigle_v with_o any_o outward_a thing_n our_o natural_a power_n be_v good_a for_o god_n himself_o possess_v neither_o gold_n nor_o silver_n and_o if_o they_o be_v thing_n mere_o good_a he_o will_v not_o want_v they_o because_o he_o have_v all_o good_a that_o be_v deliver_v for_o the_o term_n of_o wrath_n and_o fire_n be_v not_o able_a to_o utter_v the_o depth_n of_o the_o judgement_n of_o god_n though_o for_o our_o capacity_n he_o can_v use_v no_o word_n more_o vehement_a to_o us._n for_o as_o in_o express_v the_o power_n of_o god_n the_o high_a name_n we_o can_v reach_v unto_o be_v to_o call_v he_o king_n so_o to_o express_v his_o anger_n he_o often_o challenge_v to_o himself_o the_o title_n of_o wrath_n whereby_o he_o show_v to_o we_o nothing_o else_o but_o that_o he_o be_v purpose_v to_o plaiâ—_n the_o part_n of_o a_o angry_a one_o as_o if_o indeed_o he_o be_v angry_a and_o though_o it_o be_v true_a that_o we_o find_v no_o such_o affection_n fall_v into_o the_o lord_n yet_o because_o we_o can_v otherwise_o imagine_v how_o he_o shall_v be_v revenge_v on_o the_o ungodly_a he_o be_v content_a to_o instruct_v we_o herein_o by_o the_o name_n of_o a_o angry_a god_n and_o indeed_o it_o be_v the_o purpose_n of_o the_o lord_n in_o to_o hear_v &_o to_o grant_v their_o request_n the_o five_o that_o for_o comfort_n in_o this_o case_n we_o must_v pass_v out_o of_o ourselves_o 5_o in_o who_o there_o be_v nothing_o that_o may_v the_o light_n of_o life_n which_o effect_n of_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n because_o you_o have_v both_o see_v in_o other_o and_o feel_v in_o yourself_o many_o time_n you_o have_v great_a cause_n to_o hope_n and_o expect_v the_o return_n of_o his_o comfort_a hand_n in_o due_a season_n who_o also_o shall_v once_o determine_v these_o conflict_a day_n and_o set_v we_o in_o that_o peace_n which_o shall_v never_o be_v interrupt_v and_o wherein_o all_o tear_n shall_v be_v wipe_v away_o from_o 13._o our_o face_n for_o ever_o the_o malice_n of_o the_o enemy_n during_o this_o life_n have_v no_o overthrow_v the_o same_o it_o behoove_v we_o here_o to_o take_v heed_n how_o we_o carry_v ourselves_o as_o in_o that_o temptation_n which_o of_o all_o other_o be_v most_o difficult_a and_o dangerous_a first_o therefore_o we_o must_v beware_v of_o that_o gulf_n wherein_o the_o enemy_n hope_v to_o devour_v we_o that_o we_o enter_v not_o into_o the_o secret_a and_o hide_a counsel_n of_o god_n for_o
