now_o in_o yet_o it_o may_v be_v say_v the_o lord_n when_o you_o shall_v hear_v pronounce_v this_o day_n in_o my_o word_n against_o they_o you_o shall_v have_v many_o in_o your_o auditory_a shall_v say_v i_o shall_v have_v peace_n though_o i_o walk_v in_o the_o imagination_n of_o my_o own_o heart_n now_o we_o do_v not_o find_v such_o a_o dreadful_a expression_n in_o all_o the_o book_n of_o god_n against_o any_o as_o we_o do_v against_o those_o that_o shall_v say_v they_o shall_v have_v peace_n though_o they_o walk_v in_o the_o imagination_n of_o their_o own_o heart_n now_o hear_v say_v the_o prophet_n may_v be_v some_o of_o you_o will_v say_v in_o your_o own_o heart_n i_o shall_v have_v rest_n i_o shall_v have_v peace_n but_o say_v the_o prophet_n there_o be_v no_o peace_n to_o the_o wicked_a say_v my_o god_n though_o your_o own_o heart_n say_v you_o shall_v have_v peace_n and_o what_o need_v we_o trouble_v ourselves_o with_o the_o minister_n word_n but_o my_o god_n say_v there_o be_v no_o peace_n to_o the_o wicked_a methinks_v here_o we_o have_v a_o place_n that_o speak_v of_o wicked_a man_n direct_o in_o opposition_n to_o that_o which_o the_o church_n speak_v of_o herself_o in_o lamen_n 3.24_o the_o lord_n be_v my_o portion_n say_v my_o soul_n therefore_o will_v i_o hope_v in_o he_o now_o let_v we_o observe_v at_o this_o time_n when_o the_o church_n speak_v this_o and_o say_v the_o lord_n be_v her_o portion_n she_o be_v in_o a_o very_a afflict_a estate_n and_o condition_n and_o it_o may_v be_v that_o her_o enemy_n will_v say_v that_o the_o lord_n have_v forsake_v she_o and_o neglect_v she_o i_o but_o against_o all_o the_o enemy_n in_o the_o world_n her_o faith_n prevail_v and_o say_v let_v all_o the_o devil_n in_o hell_n say_v what_o they_o will_v let_v all_o the_o world_n say_v what_o they_o will_v yet_o my_o soul_n shall_v say_v the_o lord_n be_v my_o portion_n that_o be_v that_o faith_n that_o god_n spirit_n have_v wrought_v in_o my_o soul_n shall_v enable_v i_o to_o say_v that_o the_o lord_n be_v my_o portion_n so_o on_o the_o contrary_a when_o wicked_a man_n be_v in_o prosperity_n and_o feel_v not_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n upon_o they_o perhaps_o friend_n may_v flatter_v they_o false_a prophet_n will_v flatter_v they_o may_v be_v their_o own_o heart_n will_v flatter_v themselves_o but_o now_o to_o answer_v all_o say_v the_o prophet_n there_o be_v no_o peace_n to_o the_o wicked_a say_v my_o god_n my_o god_n say_v it_o further_o there_o be_v no_o peace_n say_v my_o god_n no_o rest_n to_o any_o out_o of_o christ_n this_o be_v to_o note_v from_o whence_o it_o come_v that_o wicked_a man_n can_v have_v no_o peace_n why_o they_o can_v have_v no_o rest_n it_o be_v from_o god_n it_o be_v god_n that_o will_v not_o give_v it_o god_n be_v against_o they_o there_o be_v many_o wicked_a man_n and_o woman_n who_o conscience_n be_v begin_v to_o be_v enlighten_v and_o they_o many_o time_n have_v trouble_v of_o spirit_n and_o when_o they_o awake_v in_o the_o night_n they_o be_v trouble_v and_o when_o they_o go_v about_o their_o business_n in_o the_o day_n they_o be_v trouble_v and_o when_o they_o come_v home_o they_o be_v trouble_v and_o so_o trouble_v as_o they_o scarce_o know_v what_o it_o be_v that_o trouble_v they_o now_o perhaps_o you_o have_v not_o know_v what_o it_o be_v that_o trouble_v you_o but_o this_o text_n in_o isa_n 57_o and_o the_o last_o verse_n tell_v you_o what_o it_o be_v that_o trouble_v you_o it_o be_v the_o lord_n that_o be_v out_o with_o you_o it_o be_v the_o anger_n the_o displeasure_n of_o the_o almighty_a that_o be_v upon_o you_o in_o those_o way_n that_o you_o have_v walk_v in_o and_o therefore_o it_o be_v that_o the_o prophet_n bring_v the_o name_n of_o god_n to_o show_v whence_o it_o be_v that_o wicked_a man_n can_v have_v no_o peace_n further_o it_o be_v observable_a that_o he_o add_v it_o be_v my_o god_n he_o do_v not_o say_v there_o be_v no_o peace_n that_o god_n say_v though_o that_o have_v be_v enough_o but_o my_o god_n that_o be_v thus_o as_o if_o the_o prophet_n shall_v say_v through_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n the_o lord_n have_v reveal_v this_o mercy_n to_o i_o and_o my_o soul_n have_v some_o interest_n in_o this_o god_n and_o since_o i_o know_v god_n in_o jesus_n christ_n my_o soul_n have_v find_v peace_n and_o rest_n in_o he_o and_o he_o be_v my_o god_n and_o have_v reveal_v himself_o to_o i_o he_o who_o mind_n my_o soul_n be_v in_o some_o measure_n acquaint_v with_o my_o god_n say_v there_o be_v no_o peace_n to_o the_o wicked_a and_o though_o however_o other_o may_v think_v it_o be_v a_o strange_a thing_n to_o tell_v ungodly_a man_n that_o they_o be_v in_o a_o condition_n wherein_o they_o can_v have_v no_o peace_n when_o they_o hear_v of_o the_o dreadful_a wrath_n of_o god_n against_o all_o ungodlyness_n to_o be_v reveal_v out_o of_o the_o word_n yet_o those_o who_o be_v acquaint_v with_o the_o way_n of_o god_n those_o who_o know_v the_o holiness_n and_o justice_n of_o god_n those_o who_o understand_v the_o mind_n
of_o the_o covenant_n this_o may_v seem_v difficult_a to_o some_o and_o that_o be_v this_o that_o all_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n in_o heaven_n can_v be_v sufficient_a for_o the_o rest_n of_o any_o soul_n but_o through_o a_o mediator_n in_o christ_n the_o soul_n must_v be_v bring_v to_o this_o mercy_n by_o the_o hand_n of_o christ_n the_o mediator_n thou_o must_v first_o come_v to_o christ_n the_o mediator_n before_o thou_o can_v have_v any_o rest_n even_o in_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n itself_o you_o must_v know_v and_o if_o you_o know_v any_o thing_n of_o the_o mystery_n of_o the_o gospel_n you_o must_v know_v this_o that_o though_o god_n be_v a_o infinite_a current_n of_o mercy_n yet_o all_o the_o current_n of_o god_n mercy_n be_v stop_v by_o man_n sin_n so_o as_o it_o can_v only_o be_v open_v by_o the_o blood_n of_o jesus_n christ_n and_o therefore_o thou_o must_v know_v god_n in_o christ_n and_o you_o must_v know_v how_o you_o come_v unto_o god_n in_o and_o through_o christ_n before_o you_o can_v rest_v upon_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n this_o be_v that_o which_o do_v undo_v many_o soul_n those_o that_o be_v of_o the_o better_a sort_n they_o think_v to_o rely_v upon_o god_n mercy_n think_v to_o rest_v in_o that_o and_o that_o be_v a_o sure_a rest_n to_o their_o soul_n but_o they_o little_o understand_v how_o all_o the_o current_n of_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n be_v stop_v and_o there_o be_v no_o come_n to_o it_o but_o by_o the_o hand_n of_o a_o mediator_n between_o god_n and_o man_n other_o they_o will_v say_v they_o do_v many_o good_a thing_n they_o do_v many_o good_a action_n they_o serve_v god_n and_o they_o rest_v in_o this_o they_o do_v not_o commit_v the_o gross_a sin_n of_o the_o world_n and_o they_o do_v perform_v duty_n they_o pray_v in_o their_o family_n and_o in_o their_o closert_n &_o this_o be_v that_o they_o rest_v in_o but_o the_o rest_n of_o a_o immortal_a soul_n must_v have_v a_o better_a foundation_n than_o this_o than_o all_o the_o duty_n than_o all_o the_o sorrow_n for_o their_o sin_n than_o all_o that_o god_n himself_o work_v in_o they_o it_o must_v be_v somewhat_o without_o they_o that_o must_v be_v rest_n to_o their_o soul_n and_o nothing_o wrought_v in_o we_o no_o not_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n in_o we_o can_v be_v rest_n to_o our_o soul_n it_o must_v be_v the_o perfect_a righteousness_n of_o a_o mediator_n though_o it_o be_v wrought_v in_o we_o by_o faith_n can_v be_v rest_n to_o our_o soul_n yet_o nothing_o in_o we_o so_o that_o you_o may_v mistake_v and_o perform_v duty_n in_o a_o formal_a manner_n but_o suppose_v you_o perform_v they_o in_o a_o gracious_a manner_n yet_o you_o must_v not_o rest_v in_o they_o you_o must_v go_v high_a than_o all_o the_o best_a duty_n that_o ever_o you_o perform_v wo_n to_o abraham_n isaac_n and_o jacob_n if_o they_o have_v no_o other_o rest_n but_o what_o their_o duty_n bring_v they_o you_o must_v look_v high_a than_o whatever_o you_o be_v or_o can_v be_v enable_v to_o do_v for_o your_o rest_n you_o will_v say_v what_o be_v there_o that_o can_v be_v high_o than_o what_o we_o be_v enable_v to_o do_v by_o god_n there_o be_v a_o righteousness_n in_o jesus_n christ_n by_o which_o you_o must_v come_v there_o be_v a_o insufficiency_n in_o all_o the_o creature_n in_o the_o world_n to_o give_v rest_n and_o yet_o the_o truth_n be_v the_o great_a part_n of_o the_o world_n make_v all_o their_o rest_n in_o these_o thing_n much_o may_v be_v speak_v concern_v the_o danger_n of_o this_o and_o much_o of_o the_o sign_n when_o our_o soul_n have_v true_a rest_n in_o christ_n but_o we_o shall_v meet_v with_o that_o in_o the_o other_o point_n in_o handle_v the_o rest_n that_o we_o have_v in_o christ_n i_o will_v therefore_o pass_v over_o this_o about_o the_o insufficiency_n of_o the_o rest_n in_o all_o other_o thing_n only_o with_o this_o one_o thing_n know_v this_o that_o that_o heart_n that_o be_v touch_v with_o jesus_n christ_n as_o the_o iron_n be_v with_o the_o loadstone_n can_v never_o be_v quiet_a either_o in_o creature_n comfort_n or_o in_o hope_n of_o mercy_n or_o in_o any_o duty_n or_o performance_n it_o can_v never_o be_v quiet_a till_o it_o get_v union_n with_o jesus_n christ_n just_o as_o it_o be_v with_o a_o needle_n that_o be_v touch_v with_o a_o loadstone_n shake_v it_o which_o way_n you_o will_v it_o will_v never_o be_v at_o rest_n till_o it_o come_v to_o the_o north_n and_o when_o it_o get_v north_n than_o it_o stand_v there_o so_o it_o be_v with_o a_o heart_n that_o be_v touch_v with_o jesus_n christ_n there_o be_v the_o touch_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o jesus_n christ_n upon_o the_o heart_n of_o a_o believer_n and_o when_o the_o heart_n be_v but_o touch_v with_o jesus_n christ_n it_o shake_v be_v full_o of_o fear_n and_o doubt_n and_o offer_v it_o this_o creature_n comfort_n and_o the_o other_o creature_n comfort_n it_o will_v not_o do_v it_o the_o heart_n be_v not_o at_o rest_n but_o now_o when_o there_o be_v the_o manifestation_n of_o christ_n unto_o the_o soul_n let_v they_o come_v to_o a_o sermon_n where_o some_o bless_a promise_n to_o the_o gospel_n be_v open_v to_o they_o and_o jesus_n christ_n present_v to_o they_o and_o they_o find_v this_o to_o be_v the_o rest_n of_o their_o soul_n their_o heart_n come_v present_o and_o close_o with_o this_o and_o they_o be_v able_a to_o lay_v the_o weight_n of_o their_o eternity_n upon_o the_o promise_n of_o the_o gospel_n upon_o the_o free_a grace_n of_o god_n in_o christ_n they_o be_v able_a to_o lay_v the_o weight_n of_o their_o eternal_a estate_n here_o however_o other_o think_v that_o the_o promise_n of_o the_o gospel_n be_v but_o a_o notion_n yet_o here_o they_o be_v able_a to_o lay_v the_o weight_n of_o their_o eternal_a estate_n and_o they_o can_v say_v with_o simeon_n lord_n now_o let_v thou_o thy_o servant_n depart_v in_o peace_n for_o my_o eye_n have_v see_v thy_o salvation_n here_o i_o see_v rest_n for_o my_o soul_n my_o heart_n be_v full_a of_o terror_n fear_n and_o doubt_n and_o i_o seek_v for_o rest_n and_o ease_n in_o this_o and_o the_o other_o creature_n comfort_n and_o can_v not_o find_v it_o but_o now_o christ_n be_v make_v know_v to_o i_o and_o here_o be_v the_o rest_n of_o my_o soul_n it_o be_v true_a godly_a people_n may_v be_v trouble_v for_o a_o while_n but_o it_o be_v as_o the_o trouble_n of_o the_o shake_n of_o a_o needle_n in_o the_o compass_n and_o other_o man_n they_o be_v trouble_v too_o there_o be_v some_o people_n trouble_v in_o conscience_n for_o their_o sin_n they_o come_v to_o a_o sermon_n and_o hear_v the_o evil_a of_o sin_n open_v and_o god_n meet_v with_o their_o particular_a sin_n some_o secret_a sin_n that_o they_o live_v in_o they_o be_v trouble_v and_o they_o shake_v too_o i_o but_o they_o be_v like_o a_o fall_v needle_n not_o right_o touch_v that_o shake_v as_o the_o other_o do_v but_o it_o will_v stand_v at_o any_o point_n do_v but_o put_v it_o this_o way_n or_o that_o way_n and_o it_o will_v stand_v here_o and_o there_o will_v mariner_n give_v any_o thing_n for_o such_o a_o needle_n that_o will_v stand_v at_o this_o point_n and_o the_o other_o point_n so_o it_o be_v with_o wicked_a man_n when_o they_o be_v trouble_v the_o devil_n the_o world_n and_o their_o corruption_n come_v and_o quiet_a their_o conscience_n out_o of_o christ_n and_o so_o indeed_o this_o hinder_v they_o from_o come_v to_o jesus_n christ_n because_o they_o find_v quiet_a some_o where_o else_o the_o saint_n they_o be_v trouble_v but_o their_o trouble_n and_o shake_n in_o the_o world_n be_v like_o the_o trouble_n of_o a_o ship_n that_o be_v in_o the_o haven_n at_o shore_n that_o lie_v at_o anchor_n a_o ship_n that_o lie_v at_o anchor_n though_o the_o wave_n toss_v it_o up_o and_o down_o yet_o it_o be_v toss_v up_o and_o down_o at_o anchor_n so_o here_o be_v the_o difference_n for_o all_o the_o world_n between_o all_o the_o trouble_n of_o the_o saint_n and_o the_o trouble_n of_o ungodly_a man_n now_o when_o you_o have_v a_o ship_n at_o sea_n and_o have_v no_o anchor_n and_o the_o storm_n drive_v it_o any_o way_n when_o there_o come_v a_o mighty_a tempest_n and_o hurry_v it_o up_o and_o down_o and_o you_o do_v not_o know_v but_o you_o may_v light_v upon_o a_o rock_n and_o be_v split_v you_o be_v trouble_v but_o the_o saint_n they_o be_v at_o anchor_n and_o you_o count_v yourselves_o at_o rest_n though_o you_o be_v toss_v by_o the_o wave_n when_o you_o be_v at_o anchor_n chap._n xxviii_o of_o the_o rest_n that_o a_o believer_n have_v by_o christ_n from_o the_o gild_n of_o sin_n lay_v out_o in_o ten_o particular_n 1._o
christ_n for_o this_o rest_n sanctification_n the_o rest_n from_o corruption_n i._o sanctification_n be_v great_a rest_n unto_o the_o soul_n of_o a_o believer_n the_o truth_n be_v there_o be_v nothing_o trouble_v the_o heart_n of_o a_o strong_a believer_n but_o only_o the_o want_n of_o his_o sanctification_n nothing_o in_o the_o world_n i_o say_v trouble_v the_o heart_n of_o a_o strong_a believer_n but_o that_o it_o be_v time_n a_o weak_a believer_n be_v trouble_v for_o want_n of_o the_o apprehension_n of_o the_o pardon_n of_o his_o sin_n a_o weak_a believer_n have_v trouble_v of_o spirit_n still_o in_o the_o sense_n of_o the_o guilt_n of_o sin_n but_o a_o strong_a believer_n get_v over_o that_o a_o weak_a believer_n have_v trouble_v by_o the_o law_n still_o because_o through_o the_o weakness_n of_o his_o faith_n he_o be_v not_o able_a to_o make_v use_n of_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n that_o god_n have_v bring_v he_o into_o so_o as_o to_o deliver_v himself_o from_o trouble_n that_o way_n a_o strong_a believer_n get_v over_o that_o a_o weak_a believer_n perform_v duty_n but_o there_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o legality_n in_o his_o performance_n of_o they_o that_o many_o time_n they_o be_v troublesome_a to_o he_o but_o a_o strong_a believer_n get_v over_o that_o burden_n but_o now_o the_o remain_a corruption_n that_o be_v in_o the_o heart_n none_o in_o this_o world_n get_v over_o this_o indeed_o in_o great_a part_n the_o strong_a believer_n have_v get_v power_n there_o also_o a_o great_a deal_n more_o than_o the_o weak_a one_o have_v do_v but_o the_o chief_a burden_n that_o lie_v upon_o a_o strong_a believer_n in_o this_o world_n be_v the_o remainder_n of_o corruption_n that_o be_v yet_o in_o he_o and_o so_o for_o the_o next_o burden_n of_o affliction_n the_o strong_a believer_n get_v well_o over_o that_o too_o but_o this_o be_v one_o chief_a burden_n of_o the_o strong_a believer_n that_o the_o world_n have_v that_o yet_o there_o be_v much_o remain_a corruption_n in_o they_o as_o it_o be_v in_o paul_n though_o a_o strong_a believer_n say_v he_o oh_o wretched_a man_n that_o i_o be_o who_o shall_v deliver_v i_o from_o this_o body_n of_o death_n as_o you_o hear_v it_o former_o open_v to_o you_o so_o that_o sanctification_n be_v a_o special_a rest_n that_o believer_n have_v it_o be_v a_o rest_n 1_o in_o this_o regard_n because_o it_o be_v the_o right_a temper_n of_o the_o heart_n as_o corruption_n be_v a_o burden_n because_o it_o be_v the_o distemper_n of_o the_o heart_n as_o sickness_n be_v a_o burden_n so_o sanctification_n it_o be_v the_o right_a frame_n and_o temper_n of_o the_o soul_n and_o so_o bring_v ease_n and_o rest_n unto_o the_o soul_n if_o your_o body_n be_v distemper_v with_o sickness_n you_o be_v a_o burden_n to_o yourselves_o by_o it_o you_o know_v not_o what_o to_o do_v a_o sick_a body_n first_o lie_v down_o in_o one_o place_n and_o then_o in_o another_o and_o will_v change_v room_n and_o change_v bed_n &_o change_v posture_n because_o he_o be_v a_o burden_n to_o himself_o let_v the_o distemper_n be_v go_v let_v the_o body_n be_v put_v into_o a_o right_a temper_n and_o now_o he_o have_v rest_n now_o he_o can_v sleep_v quiet_o now_o he_o have_v ease_n in_o his_o body_n his_o pain_n be_v over_o now_o sanctification_n be_v the_o health_n of_o the_o soul_n than_o the_o soul_n come_v to_o be_v healthy_a when_o it_o come_v to_o be_v holy_a holiness_n be_v the_o due_a temper_n of_o the_o heart_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v rest_n 2._o sanctification_n be_v the_o rest_n of_o the_o heart_n because_o in_o that_o the_o soul_n do_v in_o great_a part_n attain_v its_o end_n now_o what_o be_v it_o that_o the_o soul_n rest_v in_o so_o much_o as_o in_o its_o end_n every_o thing_n rest_v when_o it_o come_v to_o its_o end_n the_o end_n be_v as_o the_o proper_a place_n in_o which_o every_o creature_n rest_v now_o by_o sanctification_n the_o soul_n do_v attain_v its_o end_n in_o great_a part_n as_o first_o it_o attain_v the_o end_n that_o god_n intend_v in_o the_o make_n of_o it_o a_o man_n or_o woman_n now_o they_o attain_v in_o great_a part_n the_o end_n for_o which_o they_o be_v bear_v thou_o be_v bear_v to_o that_o end_n that_o thou_o may_v be_v holy_a that_o thou_o may_v live_v here_o in_o this_o world_n unto_o god_n which_o by_o sanctification_n thou_o do_v that_o be_v the_o end_n god_n aim_v at_o the_o end_n why_o thou_o be_v bear_v why_o thou_o come_v into_o the_o world_n second_o it_o be_v the_o end_n of_o all_o god_n way_n towards_o thou_o a_o special_a end_n of_o all_o the_o passage_n of_o god_n providence_n to_o thou_o of_o all_o the_o work_n of_o god_n towards_o thou_o in_o this_o world_n of_o all_o the_o way_n of_o his_o providence_n find_v no_o evidence_n at_o all_o nothing_o at_o all_o to_o satisfy_v thy_o soul_n then_o go_v to_o christ_n in_o the_o very_a same_o way_n that_o thou_o wente_v to_o he_o at_o first_o better_a to_o do_v so_o then_o to_o lie_v grovel_v and_o sink_v under_o thy_o burden_n if_o thou_o think_v that_o yet_o thou_o have_v nothing_o that_o all_o be_v nothing_o all_o be_v lose_v and_o the_o like_a go_v one_o as_o sometime_o a_o man_n may_v spend_v a_o great_a deal_n more_o time_n in_o look_v after_o a_o old_a key_n of_o a_o box_n then_o in_o make_v a_o new_a one_o he_o may_v make_v a_o new_a key_n with_o a_o great_a deal_n less_o trouble_n and_o it_o will_v not_o be_v so_o much_o prejudice_n to_o he_o to_o have_v a_o new_a key_n make_v as_o to_o look_v the_o old_a one_o he_o may_v look_v up_o and_o down_o and_o spend_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o time_n that_o may_v be_v more_o worth_a then_o to_o make_v a_o new_a one_o so_o it_o be_v with_o the_o soul_n in_o time_n of_o trouble_n and_o under_o spiritual_a desertion_n it_o be_v look_v about_o for_o its_o old_a evidence_n and_o to_o such_o and_o such_o work_n of_o grace_n and_o can_v find_v they_o and_o be_v pore_v and_o can_v be_v at_o quiet_a till_o it_o can_v find_v those_o former_a sign_n and_o mark_n that_o he_o have_v before_o i_o say_v such_o and_o such_o may_v soon_o get_v new_a one_o then_o find_v the_o old_a one_o if_o thou_o want_v the_o evidence_n of_o thy_o grace_n and_o can_v not_o find_v they_o i_o say_v renew_v thy_o grace_n upon_o christ_n again_o and_o thou_o may_v get_v thy_o evidence_n new_o write_v over_o again_o and_o have_v it_o with_o less_o cost_n then_o to_o look_v after_o the_o old_a one_o six_o be_v sure_a in_o time_n of_o thy_o desertion_n to_o keep_v good_a thought_n of_o god_n though_o thou_o have_v no_o comfort_n in_o they_o for_o the_o present_a yet_o believe_v it_o there_o be_v comfort_n in_o christ_n and_o whatever_o become_v of_o thou_o acknowledge_v christ_n to_o be_v faithful_a christ_n be_v to_o be_v thy_o lord_n and_o thy_o king_n and_o let_v thy_o heart_n love_v he_o and_o strive_v at_o the_o least_o â—o_o do_v so_o it_o be_v true_a the_o sense_n of_o his_o love_n will_v have_v open_v to_o you_o in_o this_o point_n you_o may_v come_v to_o know_v whence_o all_o your_o trouble_n come_v whence_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o you_o have_v go_v on_o in_o that_o sadness_n and_o heaviness_n as_o you_o have_v do_v you_o have_v do_v your_o duty_n in_o a_o legal_a way_n you_o have_v not_o be_v acquaint_v with_o the_o way_n of_o the_o gospel_n you_o will_v say_v what_o be_v and_o that_o every_o one_o acknowledge_v it_o be_v in_o every_o man_n mouth_n almost_o we_o be_v all_o sinner_n but_o now_o here_o be_v the_o difference_n between_o the_o wicked_a and_o the_o godly_a the_o wicked_a have_v sin_n enough_o in_o they_o but_o it_o be_v no_o burden_n to_o they_o but_o the_o godly_a have_v their_o sin_n to_o be_v their_o burden_n the_o remainder_n of_o sin_n though_o it_o be_v never_o so_o little_a it_o be_v a_o most_o grievous_a burden_n unto_o they_o and_o to_o these_o i_o be_o to_o speak_v out_o of_o this_o text_n yea_o christ_n himself_o speak_v to_o they_o come_v unto_o i_o you_o that_o be_v lade_v with_o the_o burden_n of_o corruption_n the_o burden_n of_o sin_n that_o still_o remain_v in_o you_o come_v to_o i_o and_o i_o will_v give_v you_o rest_v in_o regard_n of_o that_o burden_n now_o to_o prove_v that_o there_o be_v a_o remainder_n of_o corruption_n in_o the_o godly_a that_o be_v a_o burden_n to_o they_o i_o will_v give_v you_o but_o one_o scripture_n that_o shall_v serve_v instead_o of_o the_o rest_n and_o that_o be_v in_o rom._n 7.24_o o_o wretched_a man_n that_o i_o be_o say_v paul_n who_o shall_v deliver_v i_o from_o this_o body_n of_o death_n i_o thank_v god_n through_o jesus_n christ_n our_o lord_n here_o we_o have_v indeed_o a_o commentary_n upon_o this_o text_n who_o shall_v deliver_v i_o say_v paul_n o_o wretched_a man_n that_o i_o be_o who_o shall_v deliver_v i_o from_o this_o body_n of_o death_n there_o be_v the_o first_o part_n the_o burden_n of_o corruption_n &_o then_o he_o run_v to_o christ_n i_o thank_v god_n through_o jesus_n christ_n so_o then_o i_o myself_o with_o my_o mind_n serve_v the_o law_n of_o god_n but_o with_o my_o flesh_n the_o law_n of_o sin_n i_o have_v get_v ease_n and_o rest_n by_o christ_n by_o run_v to_o he_o but_o mark_v the_o scripture_n o_o wretched_a man_n that_o i_o be_o paul_n though_o a_o godly_a man_n and_o one_o eminent_a in_o grace_n yet_o have_v remain_v in_o he_o a_o body_n of_o death_n his_o sin_n that_o be_v in_o he_o he_o call_v a_o body_n of_o death_n it_o be_v as_o a_o deadly_a thing_n unto_o his_o heart_n and_o it_o be_v as_o a_o body_n because_o it_o be_v make_v up_o of_o many_o member_n as_o a_o body_n be_v there_o be_v many_o sin_n remain_v in_o he_o and_o all_o the_o faculty_n of_o his_o soul_n and_o member_n of_o his_o body_n be_v defile_v with_o sin_n and_o therefore_o he_o call_v it_o a_o body_n of_o death_n now_o the_o apostle_n be_v so_o sensible_a of_o this_o that_o he_o give_v a_o grievous_a shriek_v as_o it_o be_v o_o wretched_a man_n that_o i_o be_o he_o count_v it_o his_o misery_n in_o that_o it_o appear_v to_o be_v a_o burden_n and_o then_o he_o shriek_v out_o under_o his_o burden_n o_o wretched_a man_n that_o i_o be_o as_o a_o man_n or_o woman_n that_o have_v a_o burden_n lay_v upon_o their_o shoulder_n and_o be_v not_o able_a to_o bear_v it_o they_o give_v a_o grievous_a shriek_n at_o the_o burden_n fall_v upon_o they_o so_o do_v the_o apostle_n here_o and_o observe_v further_o that_o the_o apostle_n paul_n have_v as_o much_o of_o the_o burden_n of_o affliction_n upon_o he_o as_o ever_o any_o one_o have_v no_o man_n have_v more_o of_o the_o burden_n of_o affliction_n than_o he_o have_v as_o you_o may_v read_v in_o the_o cor._n 1.4_o and_o cor._n 2.4_o the_o affliction_n of_o paul_n be_v exceed_v grievous_a there_o be_v never_o any_o more_o abuse_v than_o he_o be_v he_o tell_v you_o of_o be_v stone_v suffer_v of_o shipwreck_n and_o abuse_v of_o his_o own_o countryman_n that_o he_o suffer_v nakedness_n and_o hunger_n and_o be_v whip_v as_o if_o he_o have_v be_v the_o most_o notorious_a rogue_n in_o all_o the_o country_n he_o have_v the_o burden_n of_o disgrace_n upon_o he_o account_v the_o off-scowring_a of_o the_o world_n and_o the_o burden_n of_o poverty_n want_v cloâ—_n and_o bread_n and_o be_v fain_o to_o go_v up_o and_o down_o from_o place_n to_o place_n yet_o notwithstanding_o these_o burden_n upon_o he_o you_o never_o read_v that_o paul_n do_v account_v himself_o a_o wretched_a man_n in_o regard_n of_o these_o burden_n you_o never_o read_v that_o paul_n cry_v out_o o_o wretched_a man_n that_o i_o be_o that_o i_o want_v â—read_n 〈◊〉_d i_o want_v clothes_n o_o wretched_a man_n that_o i_o be_o whip_v and_o abuse_v he_o do_v not_o cry_v out_o o_o wretched_a man_n that_o i_o be_o who_o shall_v deliver_v i_o from_o affliction_n who_o shall_v deliver_v i_o from_o persecution_n no_o we_o find_v in_o scripture_n that_o he_o rejoice_v in_o affliction_n when_o he_o be_v cast_v into_o dungeon_n he_o can_v sing_v psalm_n and_o when_o he_o have_v the_o whip_n he_o can_v sing_v psalm_n and_o rejoice_v but_o when_o he_o come_v to_o his_o sin_n than_o he_o fall_v under_o that_o burden_n who_o shall_v deliver_v i_o from_o that_o as_o if_o he_o shall_v say_v o_o lord_n let_v i_o be_v never_o so_o much_o afflict_v here_o in_o this_o world_n yet_o if_o i_o can_v have_v my_o soul_n deliver_v from_o this_o burden_n of_o my_o sin_n i_o shall_v account_v myself_o a_o happy_a man_n and_o yet_o he_o be_v deliver_v from_o the_o guilt_n of_o sin_n for_o he_o know_v he_o shall_v never_o go_v to_o hell_n for_o his_o sin_n and_o he_o be_v deliver_v from_o the_o dominion_n of_o his_o sin_n to_o and_o yet_o he_o cry_v out_o under_o this_o burden_n of_o his_o sin_n who_o shall_v deliver_v i_o i_o appeal_v unto_o many_o of_o you_o what_o closet_n or_o secret_a chamber_n of_o you_o can_v ever_o witness_v that_o you_o be_v thus_o cry_v out_o in_o respect_n of_o your_o sin_n o_o wretched_a man_n or_o woman_n that_o i_o be_o who_o shall_v deliver_v i_o from_o this_o body_n of_o sin_n from_o this_o wretched_a heart_n that_o i_o have_v many_o of_o you_o we_o hear_v cry_v out_o of_o poverty_n disgrace_n and_o trouble_v in_o your_o family_n and_o the_o like_a but_o who_o of_o you_o cry_v out_o who_o shall_v deliver_v i_o from_o this_o body_n of_o death_n from_o this_o sin_n of_o my_o nature_n many_o of_o you_o perhaps_o do_v not_o know_v whether_o you_o be_v deliver_v from_o the_o guilt_n of_o your_o sin_n you_o do_v not_o know_v whether_o any_o of_o your_o sin_n be_v pardon_v you_o be_v not_o deliver_v at_o
