will_v perform_v it_o unto_o the_o day_n of_o jesus_n christ_n phil._n 1._o 6._o and_o lest_o he_o shall_v terrify_v the_o hebrew_n by_o his_o doctrine_n of_o the_o peremptory_a rejection_n and_o perdition_n of_o apostate_n as_o though_o he_o understand_v it_o of_o they_o personal_o he_o explain_v himself_o say_v but_o belove_v we_o be_v persuade_v better_a thing_n of_o you_o and_o thing_n that_o accompany_v salvation_n though_o we_o thus_o speak_v for_o god_n be_v not_o unrighteous_a to_o forget_v your_o work_n and_o labour_n of_o love_n which_o you_o have_v show_v to_o his_o name_n in_o that_o you_o have_v minister_v to_o the_o saint_n and_o do_v minister_v heb._n 6._o 9_o 10._o where_o real_a love_n to_o christ_n and_o his_o saint_n be_v join_v with_o salvation_n as_o have_v a_o inseparable_a connexion_n with_o it_o by_o virtue_n of_o the_o divine_a ordination_n yet_o he_o do_v not_o cease_v in_o these_o place_n and_o other_o to_o press_v duty_n and_o perseverance_n because_o the_o performance_n of_o their_o duty_n and_o endeavour_v of_o perseverance_n be_v a_o mean_n of_o perseverance_n and_o sure_o that_o god_n who_o never_o desert_n man_n before_o man_n desert_n he_o will_n never_o total_o desert_n man_n before_o man_n total_o desert_n he_o certain_o there_o be_v a_o state_n of_o confirmation_n in_o this_o life_n wherein_o by_o virtue_n of_o the_o earnest_n of_o the_o spirit_n the_o son_n of_o god_n may_v be_v certain_a of_o their_o present_a right_n unto_o and_o their_o future_a possession_n of_o eternal_a glory_n though_o few_o attain_n to_o this_o till_o the_o end_n of_o their_o life_n but_o of_o this_o more_o full_o upon_o another_o occasion_n in_o my_o exposition_n of_o the_o epistle_n to_o the_o hebrew_n for_o the_o present_a we_o may_v observe_v these_o particular_n 1._o that_o we_o may_v make_v our_o call_n and_o election_n sure_a in_o this_o life_n for_o we_o be_v command_v even_o in_o this_o life_n to_o give_v all_o diligence_n to_o make_v our_o call_n and_o election_n sure_a for_o if_o we_o do_v these_o thing_n we_o shall_v never_o fall_v 2_o pet._n 1._o 10._o 2._o that_o the_o high_a degree_n of_o sanctification_n in_o any_o intellectual_a subject_n man_n or_o angel_n may_v be_v lose_v 3._o that_o the_o perpetual_a continuance_n thereof_o in_o a_o create_a subject_n depend_v upon_o a_o extrinsical_a cause_n which_o be_v god_n perpetual_a conservation_n 4._o the_o certainty_n of_o our_o perseverance_n in_o this_o life_n both_o for_o the_o thing_n itself_o and_o the_o certain_a knowledge_n of_o it_o depend_v upon_o a_o promise_n in_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n in_o christ._n 5._o the_o controversy_n in_o this_o point_n between_o the_o contra-remonstrants_a and_o remonstrant_n if_o both_o party_n have_v deal_v plain_o have_v be_v near_o a_o end_n and_o so_o far_o more_o easy_o determinable_a for_o if_o god_n have_v make_v a_o promise_n that_o he_o will_v put_v his_o fear_n into_o the_o heart_n of_o his_o child_n in_o this_o life_n so_o that_o they_o shall_v not_o depart_v from_o he_o though_o they_o may_v sin_v and_o fail_v in_o many_o particular_n grievous_o then_o if_o the_o question_n be_v right_o state_v the_o quarrel_n be_v end_v 6._o the_o first_o proof_n of_o the_o remonstrant_n out_o of_o scripture_n which_o by_o some_o be_v hold_v unanswerable_a out_o of_o ezek._n 18._o it_o nothing_o at_o all_o to_o purpose_n because_o it_o speak_v of_o the_o judgement_n of_o god_n and_o his_o judicial_a proceed_n with_o israel_n according_a to_o the_o law_n and_o covenant_n make_v at_o horeb_n which_o the_o apostle_n say_v express_o be_v a_o distinct_a covenant_n from_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n heb._n 8._o 9_o but_o for_o the_o present_a to_o lay_v aside_o the_o controversy_n let_v we_o every_o one_o endeavour_n and_o give_v all_o diligence_n to_o persevere_v and_o every_o day_n pray_v for_o perseverance_n for_o that_o will_v be_v better_o than_o to_o dispute_v because_o by_o this_o mean_n we_o may_v attain_v to_o that_o which_o many_o do_v deny_v but_o this_o you_o must_v know_v that_o no_o promise_n can_v give_v we_o comfort_v upon_o and_o in_o the_o time_n of_o disobedience_n and_o neglect_v of_o duty_n thus_o far_o §_o xiii_o the_o continuance_n of_o regeneration_n the_o continuance_n of_o reconciliation_n and_o adoption_n follow_v which_o make_v our_o condition_n to_o be_v a_o condition_n of_o peace_n and_o joy_n in_o this_o vale_n of_o death_n in_o this_o i_o shall_v be_v brief_a because_o i_o have_v speak_v more_o at_o large_a of_o the_o nature_n of_o both_o former_o it_o be_v god_n will_n that_o the_o continuance_n of_o these_o shall_v depend_v upon_o the_o continuance_n of_o sanctification_n for_o no_o man_n can_v be_v happy_a if_o he_o be_v not_o first_o holy_a therefore_o he_o that_o have_v the_o hope_n of_o glory_n and_o joy_n upon_o that_o hope_n do_v purify_v himself_o 1_o joh._n 3._o 3_o the_o more_o god_n continue_v to_o sanctify_v and_o assist_v we_o the_o more_o we_o improve_v our_o heavenly_a grace_n the_o more_o diligent_o we_o practise_v pray_v and_o watch_v the_o great_a evidence_n we_o shall_v have_v of_o the_o continuance_n of_o our_o reconciliation_n &_o adoption_n and_o the_o great_a will_v be_v our_o assurance_n of_o god_n special_a love_n unto_o we_o and_o the_o great_a this_o assurance_n of_o his_o love_n shall_v be_v the_o great_a our_o peace_n and_o joy_n will_v be_v the_o more_o we_o love_v god_n and_o the_o more_o we_o keep_v his_o commandment_n the_o more_o he_o will_v love_v we_o he_o love_v we_o much_o before_o we_o love_v he_o and_o even_o then_o he_o give_v his_o son_n to_o be_v the_o propitiation_n for_o our_o sin_n but_o when_o we_o receive_v his_o son_n he_o love_v we_o more_o and_o several_a way_n discover_v that_o his_o love_n to_o we_o love_v he_o be_v everlasting_a and_o far_o great_a than_o the_o heart_n of_o man_n can_v imagine_v and_o nothing_o can_v more_o quiet_a and_o content_v the_o heart_n of_o miserable_a man_n than_o assurance_n that_o god_n love_v he_o with_o a_o special_a love_n which_o he_o have_v manifest_v already_o and_o will_v manifest_v it_o more_o on_o earth_n and_o most_o of_o all_o in_o heaven_n for_o when_o we_o be_v full_o glorify_v we_o shall_v full_o know_v how_o much_o he_o love_v we_o and_o for_o the_o present_a what_o can_v disquiet_v our_o heart_n within_o when_o the_o love_n of_o god_n be_v shed_v abroad_o in_o our_o heart_n by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n which_o be_v give_v unto_o we_o and_o continue_v within_o we_o sure_o no_o tribulation_n without_o no_o mutter_n of_o the_o conscience_n within_o can_v disturb_v our_o peace_n abate_v our_o joy_n diminish_v our_o comfort_n we_o joy_v in_o tribulation_n and_o in_o the_o midst_n of_o great_a affliction_n we_o can_v quiet_o repose_v our_o mind_n in_o god_n and_o sweet_o rest_v in_o his_o fatherly_a affection_n yet_o this_o require_v a_o heart_n above_o the_o earth_n and_o such_o a_o measure_n of_o faith_n as_o to_o overcome_v fear_n and_o desire_n of_o the_o world_n for_o if_o we_o love_v our_o god_n above_o the_o world_n desire_v heaven_n as_o infinite_o more_o excellent_a than_o the_o earth_n scorn_v the_o menace_n of_o the_o devil_n and_o wicked_a man_n disdain_v to_o look_v upon_o the_o glory_n and_o prosperity_n of_o the_o world_n as_o not_o worth_a the_o seek_n so_o that_o no_o worldly_a cross_n nor_o crown_n can_v work_v upon_o we_o to_o affect_v
