it_o be_v the_o fountain_n of_o self-deceit_n and_o keep_v out_o any_o thing_n that_o may_v make_v man_n question_v their_o own_o condition_n so_o that_o if_o a_o word_n come_v in_o and_o say_v thou_o have_v no_o ground_n for_o thy_o faith_n the_o heart_n will_v be_v ready_a to_o answer_v and_o say_v it_o can_v be_v that_o i_o be_o a_o self-deceiver_n and_o self-love_n as_o a_o partial_a judge_n will_v offer_v to_o vindicate_v the_o man_n and_o so_o make_v he_o shift_v the_o challenge_n now_o when_o all_o these_o be_v put_v together_o you_o may_v see_v how_o many_o ground_n folk_n have_v to_o go_v wrong_n upon_o and_o man_n have_v heart_n dispose_v and_o incline_v they_o to_o go_v wrong_n and_o little_a pain_n be_v take_v to_o discover_v the_o deceit_n of_o they_o be_v it_o any_o wonder_n be_v bruise_v for_o our_o iniquity_n 3._o the_o end_n of_o these_o suffering_n or_o the_o effect_n that_o follow_v on_o they_o to_o we_o pardon_v of_o sin_n peace_n with_o god_n and_o heal_v the_o chastisement_n of_o our_o peace_n be_v on_o he_o and_o by_o his_o stripe_n we_o be_v heal_v and_o each_o of_o these_o being_n more_o wonderful_a than_o another_o therefore_o the_o prophet_n go_v on_o to_o clear_v their_o rise_n which_o be_v no_o less_o wonderful_a how_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o he_o suffer_v and_o suffer_v so_o much_o and_o that_o we_o have_v such_o benefit_n by_o his_o the_o word_n which_o though_o but_o few_o yet_o exceed_v full_a and_o significant_a as_o hold_v out_o the_o fountain_n and_o fundamental_a ground_n of_o the_o gospel_n we_o shall_v look_v upon_o they_o in_o these_o three_o respect_n 1._o as_o they_o imply_v a_o covenant_n and_o transaction_n whereby_o the_o elect_v sin_n be_v transact_v on_o christ_n and_o his_o righteousness_n be_v make_v application_n of_o to_o they_o christ_n undertake_v to_o pay_v their_o debt_n and_o jehovah_n accept_v thereof_o and_o promise_v that_o his_o satisfaction_n make_v for_o the_o behoof_n of_o the_o elect_n shall_v be_v apply_v to_o they_o 2._o in_o respect_n of_o the_o effect_n which_o be_v two_o which_o though_o they_o seem_v contrary_a the_o one_o to_o the_o other_o yet_o they_o be_v well_o consistent_a together_o and_o subordinat_a the_o one_o of_o they_o to_o the_o other_o the_o 1._o be_v of_o justice_n on_o christ_n side_n he_o satisfy_v for_o the_o debt_n due_a by_o the_o elect._n the_o 2._o be_v of_o mercy_n and_o grace_n to_o the_o elect_n which_o be_v also_o employ_v but_o compare_v these_o word_n with_o the_o former_a it_o be_v very_o clear_a he_o be_v wound_v and_o bruise_v and_o they_o be_v heal_v the_o chastisement_n of_o their_o peace_n be_v on_o he_o the_o impute_v of_o their_o debt_n to_o he_o make_v that_o it_o be_v not_o impute_v to_o they_o 3._o in_o respect_n of_o the_o influence_n that_o the_o eternal_a covenant_n have_v on_o these_o effect_n it_o lay_v down_o the_o way_n how_o these_o may_v be_v just_o bring_v about_o which_o be_v the_o scope_n of_o all_o even_o to_o show_v how_o christ_n jesus_n be_v the_o innocent_a son_n of_o god_n and_o without_o sin_n be_v make_v liable_a to_o the_o debt_n of_o the_o elect_v sin_n he_o become_v cautioner_n for_o they_o and_o be_v make_v liable_a on_o that_o account_n to_o satisfy_v for_o they_o it_o clear_v also_o how_o his_o suffering_n stand_v for_o they_o which_o may_v seem_v to_o be_v unreasonable_a and_o unjust_a among_o man_n that_o the_o suffering_n of_o a_o innocent_a party_n shall_v stand_v for_o the_o guilty_a it_o be_v so_o article_v in_o the_o covenant_n of_o redemption_n that_o the_o son_n as_o mediator_n interpose_v and_o undertake_v to_o pay_v the_o elect_v debt_n the_o lord_n jehovah_n the_o creditor_n shall_v not_o reckon_v it_o on_o their_o score_n but_o on_o the_o mediator_n and_o that_o he_o shall_v count_v for_o it_o the_o prophet_n in_o every_o verse_n almost_o be_v strike_v on_o the_o sweet_a and_o pleasant_a string_n of_o this_o noble_a plot_n and_o contrivance_n of_o god_n concern_v the_o redemption_n of_o elect_a sinner_n call_v the_o covenant_n of_o redemption_n which_o these_o word_n consider_v with_o respect_n to_o their_o scope_n do_v in_o transaction_n betwixt_o the_o lord_n jehovah_n and_o the_o mediator_n wherein_o the_o whole_a business_n concern_v the_o redemption_n and_o salvation_n of_o the_o elect_n be_v contrive_v there_o be_v a_o eternal_a covenant_n pass_v betwixt_o god_n and_o the_o mediator_n wherein_o all_o that_o be_v execute_v or_o will_v be_v concern_v the_o elect_a till_o the_o day_n of_o judgement_n be_v contrive_v there_o be_v nothing_o relate_v to_o the_o elect_v salvation_n but_o it_o be_v in_o this_o transaction_n exact_o contrive_v and_o lay_v down_o even_o as_o it_o be_v in_o time_n execute_v and_o it_o be_v call_v a_o covenant_n in_o scrip_n ure_n and_o we_o call_v it_o so_o not_o strict_o and_o proper_o as_o if_o all_o thing_n in_o covenant_n among_o man_n be_v in_o it_o but_o because_o material_o and_o substantial_o it_o be_v so_o and_o the_o resemblance_n will_v hold_v for_o the_o most_o part_n the_o lord_n have_v lay_v down_o in_o it_o the_o plot_n of_o man_n salvation_n in_o

take_v away_o but_o how_o to_o win_v over_o the_o duty_n itself_o that_o they_o stumble_v not_o on_o it_o to_o the_o prejudice_n of_o their_o trust_n to_o christ_n whereas_o another_o man_n

brave_a clothes_n you_o will_v have_v no_o silver_n nor_o gold_n in_o your_o purse_n in_o that_o day_n and_o suppose_v you_o have_v it_o the_o redemption_n of_o the_o soul_n be_v precious_a and_o
