profaneness_n and_o disorder_n as_o deny_v the_o same_o have_v within_o these_o few_o year_n as_o though_o they_o can_v no_o long_o forbear_v bring_v they_o in_o again_o a_o lamentable_a fruit_n of_o their_o wealth_n peace_n and_o prosperity_n among_o many_o other_o such_o but_o if_o it_o be_v due_o consider_v peace_n what_o good_a may_v have_v be_v do_v through_o our_o land_n in_o this_o long_a time_n of_o peace_n and_o plenty_n and_o how_o the_o opportunity_n even_o the_o time_n of_o our_o visitation_n as_o fit_a for_o holy_a duty_n as_o fair_a weather_n for_o harvest_n have_v be_v over-slipped_n that_o i_o say_v no_o more_o it_o ought_v just_o to_o wring_v out_o plenty_n of_o tear_n for_o so_o great_a transgression_n but_o i_o will_v contain_v myself_o use_v our_o saviour_n speak_v but_o of_o one_o part_n or_o piece_n of_o prosperity_n namely_o of_o riches_n say_v oh_o with_o what_o difficulty_n shall_v they_o who_o have_v riches_n enter_v into_o the_o kingdom_n of_o prophet_n declare_v before_o i_o be_v afflict_v i_o go_v astray_o that_o be_v when_o i_o have_v my_o liberty_n and_o therefore_o this_o shall_v serve_v to_o show_v with_o how_o much_o ado_n they_o which_o have_v they_o walk_v daily_o in_o a_o christian_a course_n and_o the_o rather_o the_o more_o variety_n of_o earthly_a delight_n they_o enjoy_v with_o they_o now_o therefore_o it_o be_v thus_o what_o cause_n have_v all_o such_o as_o be_v lover_n of_o the_o truth_n who_o god_n suffer_v to_o live_v in_o peace_n health_n and_o prosperity_n to_o be_v wise_a and_o wary_a against_o so_o many_o danger_n and_o warn_v by_o the_o hurt_n

have_v attain_v to_o it_o who_o be_v here_o mention_v that_o be_v such_o as_o have_v covenant_v unfeigned_o to_o watch_v and_o observe_v the_o same_o therefore_o to_o return_v see_v the_o heart_n be_v a_o deep_a dungeon_n and_o pit_n full_a of_o all_o unclean_a thought_n and_o yet_o deceive_a man_n so_o that_o they_o shall_v think_v far_o otherwise_o and_o suspect_v no_o such_o thing_n as_o 1._o king_n 15.8_o see_v in_o all_o their_o action_n some_o one_o or_o other_o portion_n of_o it_o be_v ready_a to_o corrupt_v and_o stain_v even_o the_o best_a of_o they_o so_o that_o not_o the_o holy_a that_o there_o be_v no_o comparison_n betwixt_o the_o one_o and_o other_o that_o be_v betwixt_o a_o wander_a heart_n and_o betwixt_o a_o circumspect_a care_n we_o may_v more_o full_o be_v resolve_v to_o hold_v out_o in_o this_o course_n still_o because_o although_o much_o foolish_a and_o fleshly_a licentiousness_n be_v forgo_v which_o be_v natural_o most_o desire_v yet_o it_o frame_v and_o make_v we_o fit_a for_o the_o lord_n &_o wean_v we_o more_o and_o more_o from_o the_o world_n and_o be_v a_o mean_a by_o which_o with_o great_a ease_n and_o readiness_n we_o go_v on_o in_o our_o christian_a course_n for_o this_o be_v that_o which_o we_o hope_v for_o hereby_o and_o there_o shall_v be_v no_o doubt_n 19.14_o but_o when_o the_o meditation_n of_o our_o heart_n shall_v please_v the_o lord_n that_o the_o word_n of_o our_o mouth_n and_o the_o practice_n of_o our_o life_n shall_v also_o be_v acceptable_a in_o his_o sight_n to_o conclude_v this_o point_n it_o be_v again_o to_o be_v remember_v that_o we_o wean_v our_o heart_n from_o earthly_a delight_n which_o oftentimes_o tickle_v it_o with_o a_o pleasant_a sweetness_n do_v steal_v it_o away_o from_o heavenly_a thing_n and_o hold_v it_o here_o below_o and_o so_o by_o little_a and_o little_o bring_v it_o to_o find_v a_o contentation_n here_o and_o breed_v a_o wearisomeness_n in_o that_o godly_a life_n and_o further_o that_o we_o be_v very_o wary_a that_o our_o heart_n be_v not_o steal_v from_o a_o like_n of_o good_a way_n neither_o bring_v out_o of_o frame_n by_o loathe_v our_o duty_n and_o so_o deprive_v of_o their_o peace_n especial_o that_o we_o be_v not_o hurt_v nor_o wound_v that_o way_n where_o there_o be_v great_a cause_n of_o fear_n and_o danger_n nor_o bring_v into_o subjection_n to_o those_o sin_n to_o the_o which_o by_o nature_n we_o be_v most_o incline_v as_o to_o the_o love_n of_o the_o world_n uncleanness_n break_v off_o of_o brotherly_a affection_n etc._n etc._n and_o here_o if_o at_o any_o time_n we_o shall_v be_v overtake_v which_o be_v not_o to_o be_v doubt_v of_o no_o not_o of_o the_o most_o circumspect_a and_o best_a advise_v we_o resolute_o purpose_v not_o to_o sleep_v nor_o slumber_n in_o our_o sin_n neither_o promise_n to_o ourselves_o forgiveness_n too_o easy_o note_n but_o first_o to_o awake_v ourselves_o to_o be_v amaze_v that_o we_o shall_v let_v go_v the_o strength_n and_o hold_v which_o once_o we_o have_v to_o rebuke_v and_o check_v ourselves_o sharp_o till_o shame_n and_o sorrow_n for_o so_o offend_v may_v humble_v we_o and_o then_o we_o may_v be_v bold_a to_o assure_v our_o soul_n have_v a_o advocate_n with_o the_o father_n jesus_n christ_n the_o righteous_a that_o we_o be_v receive_v of_o he_o again_o many_o and_o to_o the_o end_n that_o in_o this_o work_n we_o may_v more_o happy_o go_v forward_o and_o this_o watch_n be_v the_o better_o keep_v our_o purpose_n be_v to_o avoid_v careful_o all_o outward_a hindrance_n and_o to_o avoid_v occasion_n of_o quench_v god_n spirit_n in_o we_o as_o we_o shall_v have_v wisdom_n to_o see_v they_o as_o too_o far_o enter_v into_o deal_n or_o talk_n about_o the_o world_n to_o call_v ourselves_o back_o from_o all_o excess_n that_o way_n also_o unprofitable_a and_o dangerous_a company_n and_o acquaintance_n any_o unnecessary_a and_o idle_a talk_n and_o whatsoever_o else_o like_a unto_o these_o and_o contrary_o to_o be_v careful_a to_o continue_v with_o diligence_n and_o delight_n not_o only_o the_o exercise_n and_o use_v of_o such_o holy_a mean_n of_o meditation_n and_o prayer_n as_o well_o by_o ourselves_o as_o with_o other_o also_o read_v hear_v and_o conference_n etc._n etc._n but_o also_o with_o mind_n to_o reap_v fruit_n by_o the_o same_o which_o be_v not_o always_o intend_v nor_o seek_v for_o so_o oft_o as_o the_o thing_n themselves_o be_v use_v as_o for_o example_n see_v the_o ready_a and_o best_a way_n to_o nourish_v and_o continue_v this_o holy_a desire_n and_o careful_a watch_v over_o our_o heart_n be_v increase_v of_o knowledge_n by_o the_o help_n of_o hear_v and_o read_v for_o zealous_a and_o holy_a affection_n be_v like_o a_o flame_n of_o fire_n which_o without_o the_o add_v and_o put_v to_o of_o wood_n as_o new_a matter_n will_v soon_o be_v quench_v and_o extinguish_v so_o will_v our_o look_v to_o our_o heart_n and_o observe_v of_o they_o be_v loose_o and_o light_o continue_v it_o be_v our_o purpose_n to_o stir_v up_o ourselves_o with_o more_o earnestness_n hereunto_o because_o we_o know_v that_o we_o shall_v otherwise_o frustrate_v and_o make_v vain_a our_o whole_a covenant_n that_o be_v to_o say_v as_o follow_v we_o do_v acknowledge_v that_o our_o negligence_n and_o unreverence_n in_o these_o have_v so_o great_o deprive_v we_o of_o fruit_n in_o understanding_n and_o judgement_n as_o well_o as_o other_o way_n that_o before_o our_o hear_n we_o trust_v we_o shall_v prepare_v our_o heart_n by_o cast_v off_o that_o which_o will_v hinder_v we_o namely_o rebellious_a gainsay_v the_o truth_n security_n hardness_n worldly_a affection_n etc._n etc._n that_o with_o meekness_n and_o teachablenesse_n we_o will_v bring_v honest_a and_o good_a heart_n to_o the_o hear_n of_o the_o word_n &_o in_o the_o action_n itself_o be_v attentive_a and_o mark_v that_o which_o shall_v be_v teach_v so_o as_o it_o may_v work_v in_o we_o and_o raise_v up_o answerable_a affection_n to_o that_o which_o we_o shall_v hear_v as_o joy_n by_o comfortable_a doctrine_n fear_v by_o that_o which_o move_v fear_n etc._n etc._n &_o after_o we_o have_v hear_v we_o not_o have_v some_o lawful_a thing_n and_o that_o which_o be_v indifferent_a to_o think_v of_o about_o our_o family_n our_o cross_n or_o other_o business_n and_o to_o prevent_v danger_n imminent_a to_o remove_v or_o ease_n trouble_v present_a or_o some_o other_o such_o way_n to_o dispose_v of_o matter_n for_o our_o peace_n and_o for_o the_o good_a of_o other_o or_o wherein_o we_o shall_v not_o have_v cause_n to_o bewail_v some_o infirmity_n which_o oppress_v we_o or_o to_o cast_v with_o ourselves_o what_o a_o heap_n and_o dunghill_n of_o corruption_n be_v lodge_v within_o we_o and_o promise_n of_o strength_n and_o therefore_o sufficient_a encouragement_n to_o do_v his_o will_n in_o this_o part_n of_o their_o life_n ready_o and_o glad_o rather_o than_o to_o desire_v with_o earthly_a mind_a person_n to_o range_v after_o noisome_a and_o unlawful_a liberty_n indeed_o i_o do_v not_o deny_v but_o that_o as_o we_o carry_v flesh_n about_o we_o which_o be_v a_o burden_n to_o to_o be_v wish_v but_o yet_o for_o all_o that_o we_o must_v learn_v and_o endeavour_n to_o follow_v the_o rule_n which_o be_v give_v we_o and_o that_o daily_o better_a and_o better_o and_o not_o to_o suffer_v ourselves_o to_o pass_v such_o time_n secure_o and_o without_o regard_n or_o full_o purpose_v of_o well_o bestow_v the_o same_o as_o we_o be_v direct_v although_o we_o shall_v not_o attain_v purpose_n and_o care_n to_o live_v godly_a they_o may_v i_o deny_v not_o go_v a_o near_a way_n than_o the_o other_o but_o they_o do_v nothing_o less_o than_o attain_v that_o which_o they_o seek_v for_o as_o all_o to_o who_o i_o direct_v my_o speech_n be_v such_o as_o will_v fain_o please_v god_n as_o well_o as_o be_v maintain_v in_o the_o world_n so_o they_o must_v look_v for_o their_o success_n and_o blessing_n from_o he_o and_o not_o from_o their_o own_o labour_n industry_n and_o wisdom_n and_o therefore_o they_o must_v daily_o seek_v it_o at_o his_o hand_n by_o hearty_a prayer_n and_o as_o they_o must_v not_o tempt_v he_o by_o neglect_v pain_n and_o travel_n so_o they_o must_v not_o trust_v to_o their_o labour_n alone_o for_o so_o they_o declare_v that_o to_o be_v all_o in_o haste_n &_o rashness_n brawl_n and_o vexation_n and_o mind_n fraught_v with_o earthliness_n and_o such_o like_a anoiance_n and_o remember_v that_o they_o have_v toil_v as_o hireling_n and_o slave_n and_o not_o as_o servant_n to_o god_n by_o walk_v christianly_o in_o their_o call_n for_o such_o may_v go_v to_o their_o work_n joyful_o they_o find_v more_o sorrow_n at_o night_n than_o the_o profit_n of_o the_o day_n be_v worth_a even_o in_o the_o estimation_n of_o common_a person_n and_o more_o loss_n of_o grace_n then_o their_o worldly_a gain_n can_v possible_o recompense_v but_o if_o they_o see_v not_o their_o danger_n or_o see_v it_o if_o they_o sleep_v in_o their_o sin_n which_o bring_v it_o and_o repent_v not_o of_o they_o that_o be_v worst_a of_o all_o danger_n so_o that_o oft_o time_n it_o fall_v out_o thereby_o that_o they_o be_v constrain_v by_o the_o check_n of_o their_o conscience_n to_o cease_v from_o their_o labour_n for_o a_o time_n or_o lose_v some_o piece_n of_o their_o bodily_a rest_n to_o recover_v their_o inward_a peace_n again_o with_o the_o lord_n and_o the_o good_a mind_n which_o be_v in_o they_o before_o if_o they_o be_v such_o as_o have_v any_o better_a at_o any_o time_n for_o of_o such_o i_o speak_v while_o the_o other_o who_o go_v to_o work_v religious_o and_o take_v direction_n from_o god_n break_v not_o off_o their_o labour_n at_o all_o but_o go_v forward_o and_o that_o in_o quietness_n also_o who_o see_v not_o now_o that_o such_o be_v further_o set_v back_o who_o think_v to_o be_v most_o forward_o by_o separate_a christian_a duty_n from_o their_o earthly_a business_n simile_n for_o as_o he_o rid_v not_o most_o work_n who_o go_v to_o it_o most_o early_o when_o his_o instrument_n which_o he_o shall_v use_v in_o the_o performance_n leave_v of_o man_n calling_n disobedience_n to_o prince_n and_o law_n poverty_n complaint_n and_o such_o like_a will_v ensue_v and_o follow_v and_o the_o least_o evil_n which_o be_v like_a to_o come_v of_o this_o new_a devise_a fantasy_n they_o say_v will_v be_v very_a monkery_n this_o objection_n i_o do_v not_o think_v to_o arise_v or_o proceed_v from_o such_o as_o know_v what_o the_o godly_a life_n mean_v but_o lest_o it_o be_v cast_v in_o the_o tooth_n of_o some_o weak_a christian_n that_o this_o be_v the_o fruit_n of_o these_o fantasy_n and_o revelation_n which_o they_o call_v godliness_n and_o so_o hereby_o some_o may_v be_v trouble_v i_o will_v answer_v it_o therefore_o whereas_o they_o say_v it_o will_v be_v a_o strange_a world_n if_o man_n can_v be_v bring_v so_o far_o from_o the_o corrupt_a and_o profane_a fashion_n of_o the_o common_a sort_n that_o they_o will_v submit_v themselves_o to_o a_o daily_a direction_n of_o their_o life_n after_o the_o word_n of_o god_n it_o be_v true_a indeed_o that_o it_o will_v seem_v strange_a to_o those_o which_o be_v contrary_o mind_v but_o that_o will_v make_v it_o never_o the_o worse_o for_o such_o count_v it_o a_o strange_a thing_n as_o the_o apostle_n say_v that_o other_o man_n run_v not_o after_o the_o same_o excess_n of_o riot_n that_o they_o do_v 4.4_o and_o therefore_o speak_v they_o evil_a of_o they_o but_o though_o it_o will_v seem_v strange_a yet_o will_v it_o not_o bring_v a_o overthrow_n nor_o confusion_n in_o state_n in_o order_n in_o law_n neither_o break_v off_o society_n and_o fellowship_n it_o shall_v be_v with_o the_o murmur_a and_o complain_v of_o many_o yet_o that_o we_o may_v once_o see_v it_o among_o we_o yea_o i_o say_v it_o be_v to_o be_v wish_v hearty_o that_o the_o notable_a ill_a practice_n custom_n and_o fashion_n in_o town_n and_o company_n of_o man_n which_o uphold_v and_o maintain_v the_o old_a world_n and_o curse_a fellowship_n in_o it_o be_v overthrow_v and_o morice-dancing_n flocking_n and_o meeting_n together_o at_o victual_v house_n inn_n and_o tavern_n usual_o needless_o and_o dangerous_o with_o superfluous_a drink_n and_o drunkenness_n swear_n quarrelling_n swagger_a deride_v and_o disgrace_v of_o sincere_a preach_n of_o the_o word_n rail_v on_o preacher_n themselves_o and_o mock_v of_o such_o as_o desire_v to_o follow_v their_o doctrine_n with_o many_o other_o such_o abomination_n also_o jester_n flatterer_n slanderer_n and_o prophaner_n of_o the_o lord_n sabbath_n in_o bargain_v gain_v worldly_a deal_n and_o absence_n from_o the_o
