satisfy_v he_o present_o and_o draw_v their_o purse_n at_o the_o first_o request_n or_o he_o who_o lie_v expect_v at_o the_o rich_a man_n gate_n with_o silence_n and_o patience_n without_o complain_v that_o he_o wait_v to_o long_a but_o have_v beg_v once_o and_o implore_v his_o pity_n after_o he_o know_v his_o mind_n be_v understand_v wait_v there_o in_o the_o rain_n and_o bite_a cold_a without_o cry_v out_o or_o use_v importunity_n there_o be_v no_o doubt_n but_o the_o rich_a man_n by_o this_o man_n patience_n and_o humility_n will_v be_v move_v to_o give_v he_o a_o large_a and_o liberal_a alm_n whilst_o the_o other_o rascal_n pride_n and_o sturdine_n shall_v stir_v he_o to_o nothing_o but_o anger_n and_o offence_n &_o so_o it_o be_v with_o god_n almighty_a and_o us._n and_o unto_o the_o end_n that_o you_o may_v the_o better_o perceive_v the_o value_n and_o fruit_n of_o this_o kind_n of_o prayer_n and_o how_o grateful_a it_o be_v to_o god_n i_o will_v fain_o know_v of_o you_o what_o better_a prayer_n there_o be_v and_o what_o great_a fruit_n expect_v from_o any_o prayer_n than_o the_o obtain_v a_o invincible_a patience_n in_o adversity_n and_o a_o great_a conformity_n with_o the_o will_n of_o god_n with_o a_o excellent_a love_n of_o his_o divine_a majesty_n wherefore_o do_v we_o pray_v at_o all_o but_o to_o arrive_v to_o these_o when_o god_n shall_v send_v you_o then_o these_o aridity_n and_o tentation_n in_o your_o prayer_n do_v but_o conform_v yourself_o in_o this_o affliction_n and_o spiritual_a desolation_n to_o his_o holy_a will_n and_o you_o shall_v exercise_v a_o act_n of_o patience_n and_o the_o love_n of_o god_n so_o high_a and_o eminent_a as_o a_o more_o perfect_a can_v be_v imagine_v it_o be_v say_v and_o with_o good_a reason_n that_o love_n heart_n of_o any_o spiritual_a man_n be_v these_o desolation_n in_o regard_n of_o which_o all_o corporal_a affliction_n in_o point_n of_o riches_n health_n and_o temporal_a good_n be_v not_o in_o way_n of_o comparison_n to_o be_v account_v of_o and_o therefore_o every_o one_o be_v entire_o to_o conform_v himself_o unto_o the_o will_n of_o god_n in_o this_o barrenness_n of_o comfort_n in_o imitation_n of_o our_o saviour_n christ_n spiritual_o abandon_v hang_v upon_o the_o cross_n accept_v of_o this_o spiritual_a mortification_n for_o term_n of_o his_o whole_a life_n if_o god_n shall_v please_v for_o to_o dispose_v it_o so_o with_o a_o pure_a intention_n only_o to_o content_v almighty_a god_n therewith_o this_o be_v a_o act_n of_o great_a patience_n and_o love_n of_o god_n and_o a_o c._n 6._o who_o be_v exercise_v therein_o moreover_o i_o demand_v of_o you_o wherefore_o you_o apply_v yourself_o to_o prayer_n unless_o by_o mean_n of_o it_o to_o obtain_v humility_n and_o the_o knowledge_n of_o yourself_o how_o often_o have_v you_o desire_v of_o god_n to_o give_v you_o a_o perfect_a knowledge_n of_o what_o you_o be_v and_o now_o behold_v god_n have_v hear_v your_o petition_n and_o by_o this_o mean_n do_v give_v you_o to_o understand_v it_o some_o be_v of_o opinion_n that_o they_o have_v well_o discharge_v their_o duty_n in_o this_o point_n of_o seek_v into_o the_o knowledge_n of_o themselves_o when_o they_o be_v strike_v with_o lively_a sorrow_n for_o their_o sin_n and_o spend_v many_o tear_n in_o deface_v they_o out_o of_o their_o soul_n but_o they_o deceive_v themselves_o for_o it_o be_v the_o knowledge_n of_o god_n &_o not_o of_o themselves_o which_o then_o they_o do_v acquire_v but_o to_o remain_v dry_a cold_a and_o hard_o as_o any_o stone_n this_o you_o have_v of_o yourself_o and_o if_o god_n do_v not_o strike_v this_o stone_n neither_o honey_n nor_o water_n will_v issue_v out_o of_o it_o and_o this_o be_v that_o knowledge_n of_o yourself_o from_o whence_o flow_v forth_o a_o thousand_o benediction_n unto_o you_o &_o of_o this_o you_o have_v abundance_n when_o your_o prayer_n in_o this_o manner_n succeed_v with_o you_o and_o if_o you_o make_v your_o profit_n of_o it_o so_o your_o prayer_n will_v be_v of_o wondrous_a fruit_n unto_o you_o the_o xxvii_o chapter_n of_o diverse_a other_o reason_n which_o may_v comfort_v we_o and_o bring_v we_o to_o conformity_n with_o the_o will_n of_o god_n in_o aridity_n and_o desolation_n of_o prayer_n although_o it_o be_v very_o profitable_a and_o good_a to_o think_v for_o our_o great_a confusion_n and_o humility_n that_o this_o affliction_n be_v procure_v by_o our_o own_o offence_n nevertheless_o it_o be_v also_o necessary_a for_o we_o to_o know_v that_o this_o chastisement_n be_v not_o always_o afflict_v upon_o we_o for_o our_o fault_n but_o sometime_o so_o dispose_v of_o out_o of_o the_o most_o profound_a providence_n of_o our_o lord_n who_o distribute_v his_o gift_n according_a as_o he_o please_v best_o and_o as_o it_o be_v no_o way_n convenient_a that_o a_o whole_a body_n be_v
