execution_n of_o such_o action_n as_o belong_v to_o it_o but_o how_o be_v it_o possible_a reply_v my_o late_a thought_n that_o the_o inanimate_a part_n of_o matter_n can_v be_v live_v and_o self-knowing_a and_o yet_o not_o self-moving_a for_o life_n and_o knowledge_n can_v be_v without_o self-motion_n and_o therefore_o if_o the_o inanimate_a part_n have_v life_n and_o knowledge_n they_o must_v necessary_o also_o have_v self-motion_n the_o former_a answer_v that_o life_n and_o knowledge_n do_v no_o way_n depend_v upon_o self-motion_n for_o have_v nature_n no_o motion_n at_o all_o yet_o may_v she_o have_v life_n and_o knowledge_n so_o that_o self-motion_n be_v not_o the_o cause_n of_o life_n and_o knowledge_n but_o only_o of_o perception_n and_o all_o the_o various_a action_n of_o nature_n and_o this_o be_v the_o reason_n say_v they_o that_o the_o inanimate_a part_n of_o matter_n be_v not_o perceptive_a because_o it_o be_v not_o self-moving_a for_o though_o it_o have_v life_n and_o self-knowledg_n as_o well_o as_o the_o animate_v part_n yet_o it_o have_v not_o a_o active_a life_n nor_o a_o perceptive_a knowledge_n by_o which_o you_o may_v see_v that_o a_o fix_v and_o interior_a self-knowledg_n may_v very_o well_o be_v without_o exterior_a perception_n for_o though_o perception_n presuppose_v a_o innate_a self-knowledg_n as_o its_o ground_n and_o principle_n yet_o self-knowledg_n do_v not_o necessary_o require_v perception_n which_o be_v only_o cause_v by_o self-motion_n for_o self-motion_n as_o it_o be_v the_o cause_n of_o the_o variety_n of_o nature_n of_o material_a nature_n my_o late_a thought_n reply_v first_o that_o if_o it_o be_v thus_o then_o one_o and_o the_o same_o part_n of_o matter_n will_v have_v a_o double_a life_n and_o a_o double_a knowledge_n next_o they_o say_v that_o if_o perception_n be_v a_o effect_n of_o self-motion_n than_o god_n himself_o must_v necessary_o be_v self-moving_a or_o else_o he_o can_v not_o perceive_v nature_n and_o her_o part_n and_o action_n concern_v the_o first_o objection_n my_o former_a thought_n answer_v that_o the_o part_n of_o nature_n can_v have_v a_o double_a life_n and_o knowledge_n no_o more_o than_o one_o man_n can_v be_v call_v double_a or_o treble_a you_o may_v as_o well_o say_v they_o make_v million_o of_o man_n of_o one_o particular_a man_n nay_o call_v every_o part_n or_o thought_n when_o we_o say_v that_o one_o and_o the_o same_o part_n can_v have_v a_o double_a life_n and_o knowledge_n for_o we_o mean_v not_o the_o compose_a creature_n of_o nature_n which_o as_o they_o consist_v of_o several_a degree_n of_o matter_n so_o they_o have_v also_o several_a degree_n of_o life_n and_o knowledge_n but_o it_o be_v to_o be_v understand_v of_o the_o essential_a or_o constitutive_a part_n of_o nature_n for_o as_o the_o rational_a part_n be_v not_o nor_o can_v be_v the_o sensitive_a part_n so_o it_o can_v neither_o have_v a_o sensitive_a knowledge_n no_o more_o can_v a_o sensitive_a part_n have_v a_o rational_a knowledge_n or_o either_o of_o these_o the_o knowledge_n of_o the_o inanimate_a part_n but_o each_o part_n retain_v its_o own_o life_n and_o knowledge_n indeed_o it_o be_v with_o these_o part_n as_o it_o be_v with_o particular_a creature_n for_o as_o one_o man_n be_v not_o another_o man_n nor_o have_v another_o man_n knowledge_n so_o it_o be_v likewise_o with_o the_o mention_a part_n of_o matter_n and_o although_o the_o animate_v part_n have_v a_o interior_a innate_a self-knowledg_n and_o a_o exterior_a perceptive_a knowledge_n yet_o these_o be_v not_o double_a knowledge_n but_o perception_n be_v only_o a_o effect_n of_o interior_a self-knowledg_n occasion_v by_o self-motion_n and_o as_o for_o the_o second_o they_o answer_v that_o the_o divine_a perception_n and_o knowledge_n be_v not_o any_o way_n like_o a_o natural_a perception_n no_o more_o than_o god_n be_v like_o a_o creature_n for_o nature_n say_v they_o be_v material_a and_o her_o perception_n be_v among_o her_o infinite_a part_n cause_v by_o their_o composition_n and_o division_n but_o god_n be_v a_o supernatural_a individable_a and_o incorporeal_a be_v void_a of_o all_o part_n and_o division_n and_o therefore_o he_o can_v be_v ignorant_a of_o any_o the_o least_o thing_n but_o be_v infinite_a he_o have_v a_o infinite_a knowledge_n without_o any_o degree_n of_o other_o part_n but_o by_o their_o own_o perception_n and_o since_o no_o particular_a creature_n or_o part_n of_o nature_n can_v have_v a_o infallible_a universal_a and_o through_o perception_n of_o all_o other_o part_n it_o can_v neither_o have_v a_o infallible_a and_o universal_a knowledge_n but_o it_o must_v content_v itself_o with_o such_o a_o knowledge_n as_o be_v within_o the_o reach_n of_o its_o own_o perception_n and_o hence_o it_o follow_v that_o it_o must_v be_v ignorant_a of_o what_o it_o do_v not_o know_v for_o perception_n have_v but_o only_o a_o respect_n to_o the_o
