only_a to_o rely_v on_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n in_o christ_n for_o pardon_n of_o sin_n this_o be_v the_o way_n wherein_o all_o the_o ancient_a elder_n walk_v to_o heaven_n this_o be_v the_o way_n that_o god_n have_v open_v &_o make_v unto_o his_o court_n it_o be_v the_o king_n high_a way_n the_o beat_a way_n common_a to_o every_o one_o that_o know_v how_o to_o walk_v in_o it_o &_o deceive_v favour_n with_o god_n please_v he_o that_o be_v confess_v thy_o sin_n bewail_v they_o get_v pardon_n set_v the_o promise_n of_o god_n in_o christ_n before_o thou_o believe_v they_o apply_v they_o to_o favour_n he_o can_v bend_v the_o heart_n of_o all_o man_n to_o approve_v they_o yet_o this_o must_v be_v understand_v with_o some_o caution_n 1._o god_n will_v not_o procure_v his_o child_n a_o good_a name_n among_o all_o man_n for_o than_o they_o shall_v be_v curse_v for_o luk._n 6.26_o curse_v be_v you_o when_o all_o man_n speak_v well_o of_o you_o but_o the_o lord_n mean_v that_o they_o shall_v be_v accept_v &_o have_v a_o good_a name_n with_o the_o most_o &_o with_o the_o best_a for_o indeed_o a_o good_a name_n as_o all_o other_o grace_n of_o god_n can_v be_v perfect_a in_o this_o life_n but_o they_o shall_v have_v such_o a_o good_a name_n as_o in_o this_o world_n shall_v continue_v and_o increase_v and_o in_o the_o world_n to_o come_v be_v without_o all_o blot_n for_o sin_n be_v his_o own_o glory_n and_o his_o good_a 3._o the_o good_a name_n that_o god_n will_v give_v his_o child_n stand_v not_o so_o much_o in_o outward_a commendation_n and_o speak_v well_o of_o a_o man_n as_o in_o the_o inward_a approbation_n of_o the_o conscience_n of_o man_n they_o must_v therefore_o be_v content_a sometime_o to_o be_v abuse_v mock_v slander_v &_o yet_o notwithstanding_o they_o have_v a_o good_a name_n in_o the_o chief_a respect_n for_o they_o who_o mouth_n do_v abuse_v &_o condemn_v they_o their_o very_a conscience_n do_v approve_v they_o out_o of_o all_o these_o the_o because_o they_o be_v approve_v of_o he_o and_o by_o faith_n justify_v in_o his_o sight_n for_o so_o to_o be_v be_v the_o only_a way_n to_o get_v a_o good_a name_n for_o in_o reason_n it_o stand_v thus_o that_o those_o who_o be_v in_o estimation_n and_o good_a name_n with_o the_o lord_n himself_o much_o more_o will_v god_n make_v they_o esteem_v and_o give_v they_o a_o good_a name_n with_o man_n like_o themselves_o hence_o we_o learn_v first_o that_o the_o common_a course_n of_o the_o world_n to_o get_v a_o good_a name_n be_v fond_a &_o wicked_a and_o to_o no_o purpose_n they_o labour_v for_o riches_n preferment_n honour_n wisdom_n &_o learning_n by_o they_o to_o get_v estimation_n in_o the_o world_n yea_o many_o abuse_n these_o blessing_n in_o vain_a ostentation_n to_o increase_v their_o credit_n and_o name_n with_o man_n and_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n save_v faith_n be_v never_o remember_v which_o must_v procure_v they_o a_o good_a name_n with_o god_n this_o be_v a_o wrong_a course_n first_o we_o must_v labour_v to_o be_v approve_v of_o god_n and_o then_o after_o the_o good_a name_n with_o god_n follow_v the_o good_a name_n in_o the_o world_n he_o therefore_o that_o labour_n for_o favour_n with_o man_n and_o neglect_v the_o favour_n of_o god_n he_o may_v get_v a_o good_a name_n but_o it_o shall_v prove_v a_o rot_a name_n in_o the_o end_n prou._n 10.7_o the_o memorial_n of_o the_o just_a shall_v be_v bless_v but_o the_o name_n of_o the_o wicked_a shall_v rot_v the_o good_a name_n of_o the_o wicked_a be_v rot_v 1._o because_o it_o be_v loathsome_a &_o stink_a in_o the_o face_n of_o god_n though_o it_o be_v never_o so_o glorious_a in_o the_o world_n 2._o because_o it_o will_v not_o last_v the_o wear_n out_o but_o in_o the_o end_n vanish_v and_o come_v to_o nothing_o unless_o as_o a_o rot_a thing_n leave_v some_o corruption_n behind_o it_o so_o their_o good_a name_n in_o the_o end_n be_v vanish_v leave_v infamy_n behind_o
it_o and_o this_o be_v the_o name_n which_o common_o be_v get_v in_o the_o world_n because_o man_n first_o seek_v not_o a_o good_a name_n with_o god_n but_o that_o good_a name_n which_o be_v obtain_v by_o faith_n will_v stand_v &_o continue_v all_o a_o man_n life_n and_o at_o his_o death_n leave_v behind_o it_o a_o sweet_a perfume_n &_o abide_v for_o ever_o in_o the_o world_n to_o come_v second_o this_o maintain_v the_o excellency_n of_o our_o religion_n against_o atheist_n and_o all_o enemy_n of_o it_o which_o esteem_n &_o call_v it_o a_o base_a &_o contemptible_a religion_n &_o of_o which_o can_v follow_v no_o credit_n nor_o estimation_n but_o see_v their_o malice_n be_v here_o control_v our_o religion_n be_v a_o most_o glorious_a &_o excellent_a profession_n it_o be_v the_o high_a way_n to_o get_v true_a credit_n &_o estimation_n it_o make_v a_o man_n honourable_a in_o the_o sight_n of_o god_n &_o man_n for_o by_o it_o our_o elder_n obtain_v a_o good_a report_n which_o continue_v fresh_a to_o this_o day_n in_o the_o four_o place_n be_v they_o well_o report_v of_o for_o their_o faith_n therefore_o their_o faith_n be_v not_o hide_v in_o their_o heart_n but_o manifest_v in_o their_o life_n for_o the_o world_n can_v see_v nor_o commend_v they_o for_o their_o faith_n but_o for_o the_o practice_n of_o faith_n here_o it_o be_v plain_a that_o man_n must_v not_o be_v content_a to_o keep_v their_o faith_n close_o in_o their_o heart_n but_o they_o must_v exercise_v the_o fruit_n of_o it_o in_o the_o world_n and_o then_o both_o these_o together_o will_v make_v a_o man_n true_o commendable_a thy_o faith_n approve_v thou_o unto_o god_n but_o the_o practice_n of_o it_o be_v that_o that_o honour_v thou_o and_o thy_o profession_n in_o the_o world_n last_o in_o that_o faith_n be_v that_o which_o approve_v our_o elder_n unto_o god_n here_o be_v a_o storehouse_n of_o comfort_n for_o all_o true_a professor_n of_o this_o faith_n be_v thou_o poor_a thy_o faith_n do_v make_v thou_o rich_a in_o god_n be_v thou_o simple_a and_o of_o mean_a reach_n thy_o faith_n be_v true_a wisdom_n before_o god_n be_v thou_o any_o way_n deform_v faith_n make_v thou_o beautiful_a unto_o but_o a_o general_a faith_n whereby_o a_o man_n embrace_v christian_a religion_n or_o whereby_o a_o man_n believe_v the_o word_n of_o god_n in_o the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o law_n and_o the_o gospel_n according_a to_o this_o example_n of_o god_n when_o he_o tell_v a_o thing_n to_o another_o to_o conceal_v his_o meaning_n in_o whole_a or_o in_o part_n for_o answer_v hereunto_o we_o must_v know_v
