reconcile_v he_o to_o god_n by_o bear_v man_n sin_n and_o satisfy_v god_n justice_n for_o they_o thus_o they_o differ_v in_o respect_n of_o the_o party_n second_o they_o differ_v in_o respect_n of_o mediation_n for_o in_o the_o covenant_n of_o nature_n man_n need_v no_o mediator_n to_o come_v between_o god_n and_o he_o he_o be_v pure_a upright_a and_o good_a create_v after_o god_n image_n the_o near_o he_o come_v to_o god_n the_o great_a be_v his_o joy_n and_o comfort_n god_n presence_n be_v a_o delight_n unto_o he_o but_o in_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n because_o man_n by_o sin_n rebellion_n corruption_n and_o enmity_n be_v separate_v and_o alievate_v in_o his_o mind_n nature_n and_o disposition_n from_o god_n therefore_o man_n can_v not_o come_v unto_o god_n to_o enter_v into_o covenant_n with_o he_o but_o by_o a_o perfect_a pure_a and_o holy_a mediator_n infinite_a in_o power_n and_o favour_n with_o god_n that_o he_o may_v prevail_v with_o he_o and_o pacify_v his_o wrath_n and_o yet_o of_o man_n nature_n and_o substance_n that_o in_o and_o by_o the_o nature_n which_o have_v sin_v satisfaction_n may_v be_v make_v for_o sin_n without_o such_o a_o mediator_n there_o can_v be_v no_o covenant_n make_v between_o god_n and_o man_n if_o man_n be_v ever_o since_o the_o fall_n filthy_a and_o corrupt_a shall_v in_o his_o own_o person_n come_v near_o to_o god_n who_o be_v to_o he_o a_o devour_a and_o consume_a fire_n he_o as_o stubble_n and_o straw_n shall_v present_o be_v consume_v and_o perish_v at_o the_o presence_n of_o god_n and_o therefore_o in_o make_v this_o covenant_n a_o perfect_a mediator_n be_v necessary_o require_v both_o to_o come_v between_o god_n and_o man_n and_o to_o make_v perfect_a satisfaction_n to_o god_n just_a law_n in_o the_o behalf_n of_o miserable_a and_o sinful_a man_n and_o to_o work_v his_o reconciliation_n and_o atonement_n three_o they_o differ_v exceed_o 3_o in_o the_o promise_n and_o condition_n first_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n in_o the_o covenant_n of_o nature_n be_v only_o natural_a life_n and_o earthly_a happiness_n with_o all_o blessing_n necessary_a thereunto_o but_o in_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n god_n do_v promise_v over_o and_o above_o natural_a life_n and_o felicity_n on_o earth_n spiritual_a life_n and_o blessing_n by_o the_o communion_n of_o his_o holy_a and_o eternal_a spirit_n not_o only_o the_o spiritual_a life_n of_o grace_n in_o this_o world_n but_o also_o of_o everlasting_a glory_n in_o the_o world_n to_o come_v in_o the_o presence_n of_o his_o glorious_a majesty_n second_o in_o the_o first_o covenant_n god_n do_v not_o promise_v to_o give_v life_n but_o to_o continue_v life_n be_v before_o already_o give_v but_o in_o the_o second_o covenant_n be_v promise_v to_o raiseman_n from_o the_o dust_n of_o death_n and_o eternal_a damnation_n in_o hell_n into_o which_o he_o be_v fall_v headlong_o by_o transgression_n unto_o the_o light_n of_o life_n and_o that_o blessedness_n in_o heaven_n of_o which_o his_o nature_n be_v never_o capable_a before_o no_o not_o in_o the_o state_n of_o innocency_n three_o in_o the_o first_o covenant_n the_o promise_a portion_n and_o possession_n be_v of_o the_o earth_n and_o of_o all_o visible_a creature_n which_o be_v fit_a to_o serve_v for_o man_n use_n but_o in_o the_o second_o covenant_n god_n promise_v heaven_n and_o himself_o who_o make_v the_o heaven_n to_o be_v the_o god_n the_o shield_n and_o reward_n of_o the_o faithful_a and_o their_o portion_n and_o inheritance_n genesis_n 15._o 1._o psalm_n 16._o four_o in_o the_o first_o covenant_n god_n promise_v and_o give_v to_o man_n power_n over_o all_o live_a creature_n to_o have_v they_o as_o a_o lord_n at_o his_o command_n and_o to_o use_v they_o for_o his_o delight_n and_o to_o rule_v not_o to_o kill_v and_o eat_v they_o but_o in_o the_o second_o covenant_n god_n give_v they_o to_o he_o for_o sacrifice_n yea_o and_o also_o to_o serve_v for_o his_o food_n and_o nourishment_n the_o four_o difference_n arise_v from_o 4_o the_o condition_n which_o god_n require_v at_o the_o hand_n of_o man_n and_o on_o man_n behalf_n for_o all_o these_o great_a and_o wonderful_a blessing_n in_o the_o first_o covenant_n god_n require_v of_o man_n perfect_a righteousness_n and_o obedience_n to_o his_o whole_a law_n and_o will_n so_o far_o as_o it_o be_v in_o man_n power_n by_o nature_n and_o reveal_v unto_o he_o and_o this_o he_o will_v have_v man_n to_o perform_v by_o himself_o in_o his_o own_o person_n but_o in_o the_o second_o covenant_n he_o require_v on_o man_n behalf_n a_o more_o excellent_a obedience_n and_o righteousness_n perform_v to_o the_o whole_a law_n more_o plain_o and_o full_o reveal_v and_o great_o enlarge_v and_o that_o not_o by_o man_n himself_o or_o any_o mere_a creature_n but_o by_o man_n mediator_n jesus_n christ_n god_n and_o man_n in_o one_o person_n who_o be_v the_o end_n of_o the_o law_n for_o righteousness_n to_o every_o one_o that_o believe_v rom._n 10._o 4._o now_o there_o be_v wonderful_a difference_n between_o these_o two_o the_o righteousness_n require_v in_o the_o first_o covenant_n be_v only_o the_o righteousness_n of_o a_o pure_a natural_a man_n and_o able_a to_o save_v he_o only_o who_o perform_v it_o but_o the_o righteousness_n of_o the_o second_o covenant_n be_v the_o righteousness_n of_o a_o perfect_a pure_a and_o holy_a man_n fill_v with_o the_o holy_a ghost_n which_o adam_n have_v
