wise_a man_n though_o they_o be_v ignorant_a of_o the_o cause_n why_o it_o be_v so_o now_o the_o law_n of_o christ_n do_v not_o oppose_v man_n inclination_n and_o appetite_n consider_v nature_n in_o its_o perfect_a state_n but_o do_v then_o only_o correct_v and_o curb_v they_o when_o by_o reason_n of_o the_o corruption_n of_o our_o nature_n they_o be_v crooked_a and_o irregular_a and_o launch_v out_o into_o vicious_a excess_n in_o a_o word_n the_o design_n of_o our_o lord_n in_o his_o law_n be_v to_o reduce_v we_o as_o much_o as_o possible_a to_o our_o primitive_a perfection_n not_o in_o a_o stoical_a manner_n to_o beat_v down_o our_o appetite_n out_o to_o rectify_v they_o that_o they_o may_v be_v true_o commendable_a in_o themselves_o and_o may_v convince_v we_o of_o the_o equity_n of_o the_o command_v of_o christ_n by_o give_v a_o eternal_a pleasure_n and_o satisfaction_n unto_o we_o for_o if_o any_o man_n do_v his_o will_n he_o shall_v quick_o find_v that_o his_o command_n be_v not_o grievous_a but_o that_o all_o his_o way_n be_v pleasantness_n and_o all_o his_o path_n be_v peace_n if_o it_o shall_v be_v urge_v that_o our_o nature_n be_v here_o incapable_a of_o such_o a_o perfection_n as_o be_v talk_v of_o and_o therefore_o that_o the_o law_n which_o enjoin_v it_o be_v unreasonable_a we_o may_v reply_v that_o our_o nature_n as_o now_o they_o be_v be_v capable_a of_o far_o great_a perfection_n and_o regularity_n than_o these_o who_o thus_o plead_v be_v willing_a to_o admit_v of_o and_o we_o may_v say_v that_o even_o now_o there_o be_v inclination_n of_o two_o readiness_n to_o part_n with_o something_o of_o our_o abundance_n for_o the_o good_a of_o those_o that_o need_n a_o charity_n in_o interpret_n their_o action_n well_o and_o a_o neglect_v of_o vainglory_n and_o such_o like_a thing_n as_o these_o be_v not_o such_o impossible_a thing_n to_o be_v perform_v nay_o the_o contrary_n shall_v perhaps_o bring_v more_o difficulty_n and_o pain_n than_o the_o observance_n of_o these_o law_n shall_v for_o we_o must_v not_o forget_v that_o there_o be_v such_o a_o thing_n as_o reason_n which_o be_v no_o less_o natural_a unto_o we_o than_o any_o inclination_n or_o appetite_n we_o have_v yea_o it_o may_v just_o claim_v the_o precedence_n of_o they_o they_o be_v in_o a_o great_a measure_n common_a unto_o we_o and_o beast_n but_o this_o the_o peculiar_a of_o man_n only_o and_o what_o be_v the_o use_n of_o this_o thing_n call_v reason_n which_o be_v so_o natural_a unto_o we_o but_o this_o viz._n to_o regulate_v our_o appetite_n and_o inclination_n when_o they_o grow_v exorbitant_a and_o to_o give_v we_o the_o great_a satisfaction_n of_o have_v act_v like_o man_n so_o that_o in_o a_o impartial_a consideration_n of_o thing_n it_o will_v be_v find_v to_o be_v more_o agreeable_a to_o nature_n to_o repress_v our_o sensitive_a appetite_n and_o inclination_n by_o reason_n than_o to_o give_v they_o their_o swinge_n without_o reason_n the_o rational_a part_n in_o man_n be_v far_o the_o more_o noble_a now_o reason_n can_v but_o approve_v of_o and_o close_o with_o these_o excellent_a and_o refine_a law_n of_o our_o lord_n nay_o our_o inclination_n themselves_o will_v we_o but_o serious_o set_v ourselves_o to_o the_o bring_v they_o into_o order_n might_n in_o some_o time_n be_v due_o bring_v into_o it_o and_o true_o it_o have_v be_v very_o well_o observe_v of_o the_o constitution_n of_o particular_a person_n and_o we_o therein_o may_v give_v praise_n to_o he_o that_o make_v we_o that_o as_o every_o temperament_n do_v some_o way_n or_o other_o evil_o dispose_v the_o man_n so_o his_o be_v thus_o dispose_v set_v he_o at_o the_o great_a distance_n from_o another_o evil._n as_o the_o be_v prone_a to_o fearfulness_n remove_v he_o far_o from_o the_o opposite_a evil_n of_o presumptuousness_n nay_o he_o be_v hereby_o render_v something_o incline_v to_o that_o good_a which_o lie_v next_o to_o his_o disposition_n the_o alwise_a god_n so_o order_v it_o that_o defect_n be_v not_o whole_o destitute_a of_o something_o at_o hand_n to_o make_v they_o up_o thus_o the_o be_v choleric_a incline_v the_o man_n to_o zealousness_n melancholy_a bend_v he_o towards_o devotion_n the_o be_v phlegmatic_a border_n he_o upon_o perseverance_n a_o proneness_n to_o anger_n prompt_v he_o to_o activeness_n so_o that_o if_o we_o ourselves_o will_v but_o be_v prudent_a and_o resolute_a in_o bring_v the_o ill_a inclination_n of_o our_o nature_n or_o of_o our_o particular_a constitution_n into_o order_n according_a to_o the_o law_n of_o our_o lord_n we_o shall_v find_v it_o a_o work_n not_o so_o intolerable_o hard_a as_o some_o will_v make_v it_o and_o will_v have_v other_o believe_v it_o to_o be_v and_o as_o thus_o our_o disposition_n if_o well_o manage_v be_v not_o averse_a from_o a_o right_a improvement_n so_o our_o affection_n and_o desire_n if_o they_o be_v but_o remove_v from_o a_o object_n less_o good_a to_o one_o that_o be_v more_o excellent_a and_o this_o may_v oftentimes_o easy_o be_v do_v they_o may_v retain_v the_o same_o earnestness_n and_o find_v more_o rational_a beside_z those_o that_o be_v brutal_a by_o their_o be_v destitute_a of_o understanding_n be_v below_o they_o and_o those_o that_o be_v heavenly_a viz._n bless_v angel_n and_o saint_n seem_v to_o be_v above_o they_o who_o appetite_n whole_o bend_v to_o the_o love_n of_o holiness_n can_v never_o be_v guilty_a of_o excess_n their_o pleasure_n admit_v of_o no_o temperance_n nor_o restriction_n but_o the_o more_o high_a and_o exert_v they_o be_v the_o more_o refine_a and_o excellent_a they_o be_v but_o we_o be_v of_o a_o middle_a nature_n between_o the_o brutal_a and_o the_o heavenly_a and_o partake_v something_o of_o both_o our_o pleasure_n be_v dangerous_a our_o appetite_n be_v very_o apt_a to_o be_v excessive_a and_o we_o have_v understanding_n to_o moderate_v and_o repress_v they_o and_o therefore_o we_o be_v careful_o to_o do_v it_o that_o from_o such_o voluntary_a restraint_n we_o may_v be_v virtuous_a and_o have_v praise_n both_o with_o god_n and_o men._n and_o indeed_o a_o curb_v of_o the_o appetite_n of_o nature_n even_o these_o man_n themselves_o however_o they_o object_v it_o against_o the_o law_n of_o christ_n will_n upon_o more_o considerate_a thought_n like_o well_o of_o and_o commend_v they_o can_v but_o approve_v of_o the_o fidelity_n of_o those_o to_o each_o other_o who_o the_o marriage-bond_n have_v unite_v and_o they_o will_v detest_v a_o spurious_a issue_n to_o be_v bring_v forth_o by_o those_o who_o they_o have_v by_o wedlock_n enclose_v to_o themselves_o alone_o but_o this_o can_v not_o be_v but_o by_o some_o restraint_n put_v upon_o those_o appetite_n which_o be_v natural_a and_o shall_v they_o be_v willing_a to_o admit_v of_o such_o restraint_n for_o the_o good_a of_o the_o community_n and_o for_o their_o
they_o a_o pardon_n of_o their_o sin_n so_o as_o they_o may_v still_o persist_v to_o be_v sinful_a all_o sin_n shall_v be_v pardon_v for_o which_o under_o the_o law_n strict_o consider_v there_o be_v no_o hope_n but_o not_o absolute_o pardon_v without_o any_o further_a consideration_n or_o condition_n the_o great_a benefit_n of_o faith_n be_v this_o to_o wit_n that_o instead_o of_o perfect_a obedience_n our_o sincere_a endeavour_n shall_v be_v accept_v and_o where_o these_o be_v what_o defect_n soever_o there_o be_v in_o we_o they_o shall_v all_o be_v make_v up_o by_o the_o merit_n of_o
