before_o regeneration_n beside_o these_o of_o love_n and_o hatred_n look_v to_o your_o delight_n and_o see_v if_o that_o be_v not_o turn_v upside_o down_o the_o wheel_n turn_v the_o quite_o contrary_a way_n we_o delight_v in_o thing_n we_o shall_v not_o delight_v in_o you_o know_v we_o delight_v in_o vain_a thing_n in_o sinful_a thing_n in_o thing_n that_o be_v suitable_a to_o our_o lust_n and_o humour_n again_o we_o delight_v in_o the_o fall_v and_o suffering_n of_o other_o as_o 1_o cor._n 5._o they_o be_v puff_v up_o when_o other_o fall_v and_o they_o stand_v it_o shall_v no_o be_v so_o creature_n they_o draw_v we_o further_o from_o god_n again_o when_o they_o be_v thus_o distemper_v they_o grow_v hindrance_n as_o the_o israelite_n can_v not_o pray_v for_o the_o anguish_n of_o their_o heart_n and_o peter_n fear_n make_v he_o to_o deny_v christ._n so_o that_o this_o distemper_n of_o our_o affection_n as_o well_o as_o the_o disorder_n of_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o faculty_n do_v show_v the_o truth_n of_o this_o point_n that_o the_o nature_n of_o man_n be_v full_a of_o all_o unrighteousness_n and_o ungodliness_n and_o so_o much_o shall_v serve_v to_o show_v the_o corruption_n of_o nature_n by_o the_o faculty_n sin_n now_o this_o be_v not_o all_o there_o be_v beside_o these_o actual_a sin_n whereby_o likewise_o this_o truth_n will_v be_v make_v manifest_a and_o these_o be_v of_o three_o sort_n that_o be_v in_o thought_n in_o word_n in_o action_n for_o they_o be_v all_o actual_a sin_n though_o inward_o they_o be_v the_o act_n of_o the_o mind_n first_o let_v we_o see_v it_o by_o the_o thought_n and_o you_o shall_v see_v in_o they_o this_o great_a corruption_n of_o nature_n and_o the_o great_a cause_n you_o have_v to_o be_v humble_v and_o it_o be_v that_o that_o shall_v amaze_v we_o we_o shall_v
they_o hurtful_a but_o grass_n be_v good_a and_o useful_a but_o corn_n and_o flower_n of_o the_o chief_a sort_n the_o earth_n can_v bring_v forth_o without_o plough_v and_o sow_v so_o it_o be_v with_o man_n nature_n take_v it_o as_o seclude_v from_o grace_n it_o be_v able_a to_o do_v two_o thing_n to_o bring_v forth_o sin_n and_o lust_n which_o come_v from_o the_o corruption_n of_o it_o and_o likewise_o many_o excellent_a virtue_n which_o proceed_v from_o common_a nature_n which_o be_v in_o a_o man_n unregenerate_a as_o well_o as_o sinful_a nature_n these_o thing_n be_v good_a and_o very_a commendable_a but_o this_o be_v their_o fault_n they_o go_v no_o further_o there_o be_v no_o more_o than_o nature_n in_o they_o they_o be_v very_o like_o true_a grace_n as_o false_a jewel_n be_v like_o true_a one_o and_o as_o your_o wild_a corn_n be_v like_o true_a corn_n there_o be_v a_o great_a similitude_n between_o they_o but_o yet_o there_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o difference_n if_o you_o look_v on_o they_o with_o a_o curious_a eye_n and_o judge_v of_o they_o with_o a_o righteous_a judgement_n four_o for_o matter_n of_o action_n it_o be_v true_a they_o do_v many_o thing_n respect_n but_o they_o fall_v short_a in_o these_o two_o respect_n first_o they_o do_v not_o all_o they_o be_v always_o wanth_v in_o something_o it_o be_v not_o say_v herod_n do_v all_o but_o many_o effect_n can_v go_v beyond_o the_o cause_n but_o it_o be_v true_a of_o the_o regenerate_v they_o be_v new_a creature_n every_o way_n and_o therefore_o there_o be_v a_o general_a observation_n of_o the_o law_n of_o god_n i_o speak_v of_o a_o evangelicall_n observation_n competent_a to_o the_o saint_n i_o say_v they_o have_v a_o respect_n to_o all_o the_o commandment_n the_o other_o have_v not_o because_o their_o heart_n be_v not_o full_o not_o general_o change_v they_o have_v light_n but_o it_o be_v shut_v up_o within_o the_o compass_n of_o one_o faculty_n it_o turn_v not_o the_o soul_n into_o light_n and_o therefore_o they_o know_v many_o thing_n and_o do_v many_o thing_n yet_o because_o the_o work_n be_v not_o general_a they_o have_v still_o some_o exception_n something_o there_o be_v wherein_o they_o favour_v themselves_o some_o duty_n there_o be_v that_o they_o omit_v and_o that_o constant_o from_o time_n to_o time_n again_o as_o they_o do_v not_o do_v all_o so_o what_o they_o do_v they_o do_v not_o in_o sincerity_n they_o do_v it_o not_o to_o the_o lord_n but_o for_o other_o respect_n for_o themselves_o for_o credit_n or_o applause_n to_o win_v love_n and_o good_a will_n among_o man_n or_o to_o avoid_v shame_n or_o they_o do_v it_o to_o escape_v judgement_n and_o to_o attain_v that_o safety_n which_o nature_n itself_o may_v desire_v or_o else_o to_o satisfy_v natural_a conscience_n many_o other_o respect_v there_o be_v but_o they_o do_v it_o not_o in_o sincerity_n to_o the_o lord_n object_n but_o it_o may_v be_v object_v when_o they_o do_v thing_n in_o secret_a do_v they_o not_o do_v they_o to_o the_o lord_n answ._n it_o be_v true_a they_o do_v it_o to_o he_o as_o to_o a_o natural_a good_a as_o a_o judge_n that_o punish_v and_o reward_n as_o a_o dispenser_n of_o good_a and_o evil_a so_o they_o do_v it_o to_o the_o lord_n but_o not_o to_o he_o as_o a_o father_n as_o holy_a and_o pure_a as_o abstract_v from_o all_o punishment_n and_o reward_n they_o do_v not_o fix_v their_o eye_n on_o the_o person_n of_o god_n to_o love_v he_o to_o desire_v favour_n and_o communion_n with_o he_o after_o this_o manner_n they_o desire_v he_o not_o and_o so_o they_o fail_v in_o the_o good_a action_n they_o do_v thing_n five_o and_o last_o there_o be_v two_o man_n in_o civil_a man_n before_o regeneration_n that_o be_v a_o instigation_n to_o that_o which_o be_v good_a and_o a_o reluctancy_n to_o it_o a_o renitencie_n against_o it_o something_o contrary_a thereto_o as_o well_o as_o in_o the_o regenerate_v but_o you_o shall_v find_v they_o to_o fall_v short_a of_o the_o saint_n in_o these_o four_o regard_n first_o this_o combat_n in_o they_o differ_v from_o that_o in_o the_o saint_n in_o respect_n of_o the_o subject_n it_o be_v between_o the_o conscience_n and_o all_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o soul_n the_o conscience_n say_v such_o thing_n must_v be_v do_v but_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o faculty_n rise_v in_o rebellion_n against_o it_o because_o as_o i_o tell_v you_o the_o light_n be_v shut_v up_o there_o and_o all_o the_o soul_n be_v not_o enlighten_v but_o in_o the_o saint_n the_o controversy_n be_v between_o every_o faculty_n and_o itself_o between_o the_o understanding_n and_o itself_o between_o the_o whole_a soul_n as_o it_o be_v compare_v with_o itself_o there_o be_v something_o good_a in_o every_o part_n of_o it_o and_o something_o ill_n and_o these_o two_o contend_v second_o as_o it_o differ_v in_o the_o subject_n so_o likewise_o in_o the_o object_n the_o contention_n be_v about_o different_a thing_n a_o civil_a man_n that_o be_v one_o that_o have_v many_o excellent_a and_o good_a thing_n in_o he_o but_o yet_o be_v unregenerate_a for_o that_o i_o mean_v by_o a_o civil_a man_n may_v have_v a_o controversy_n with_o himself_o about_o many_o thing_n belong_v to_o honesty_n virtue_n sin_n of_o the_o great_a extent_n such_o as_o he_o be_v able_a to_o see_v as_o in_o a_o dark_a night_n we_o see_v the_o star_n of_o a_o great_a magnitude_n but_o the_o other_o be_v hide_v from_o we_o but_o there_o be_v something_o spiritual_a thing_n that_o belong_v to_o the_o image_n of_o god_n to_o the_o life_n of_o grace_n which_o he_o make_v not_o conscience_n of_o can_v contend_v about_o for_o he_o understand_v they_o not_o he_o may_v be_v trouble_v about_o many_o evil_n and_o if_o he_o fall_v into_o gross_a sin_n there_o may_v be_v a_o contention_n in_o he_o after_o he_o have_v commit_v they_o as_o well_o as_o before_o but_o the_o spiritual_a perfomance_n of_o duty_n which_o belong_v to_o godliness_n and_o true_a holiness_n be_v not_o controvert_v and_o so_o they_o differ_v in_o the_o object_n three_o it_o differ_v in_o regard_n of_o the_o effect_n and_o issue_n of_o the_o combat_n in_o a_o natural_a man_n where_o there_o be_v a_o strife_n you_o shall_v find_v this_o the_o issue_n the_o better_a be_v the_o loser_n and_o the_o worse_a be_v the_o gainer_n as_o it_o be_v the_o
