or_o in_o the_o least_o measure_n to_o fail_v in_o any_o holy_a duty_n that_o thou_o do_v perform_v the_o law_n take_v hold_v on_o that_o and_o findeth_z fault_n with_o that_o so_o as_o to_o render_v all_o the_o holy_a duty_n that_o ever_o thou_o do_v unavailable_a because_o of_o that_o i_o say_v if_o when_o thou_o be_v a_o hear_n there_o be_v out_o one_o vain_a thought_n or_o in_o pray_v but_o live_v and_o die_v under_o it_o for_o the_o law_n be_v once_o break_v by_o thou_o never_o speak_v good_a unto_o thou_o neither_o do_v god_n at_o all_o regard_n thou_o if_o thou_o be_v under_o that_o covenant_n notwithstanding_o all_o thy_o repenting_n and_o also_o promise_n to_o do_v so_o no_o more_o no_o say_v the_o law_n thou_o have_v sin_v therefore_o i_o must_v curse_v thou_o for_o it_o be_v that_o for_o they_o shall_v be_v throw_v into_o hell_n to_o the_o very_a devil_n but_o to_o speak_v in_o a_o few_o partcular_o for_o thy_o better_a understanding_n herein_o know_v first_o that_o the_o law_n of_o god_n or_o covenant_n of_o work_n do_v not_o contain_v itself_o in_o one_o particular_a branch_n of_o the_o law_n but_o do_v extend_v itself_o into_o many_o even_o into_o all_o the_o ten_o commandment_n and_o they_o ten_o into_o very_o many_o more_o as_o may_v be_v show_v so_o that_o the_o danger_n do_v 〈◊〉_d lie_v in_o the_o break_n of_o one_o or_o two_o of_o these_o ten_o only_a but_o it_o do_v lie_v even_o in_o the_o transgression_n of_o any_o one_o of_o they_o as_o you_o know_v if_o a_o king_n shall_v give_v forth_o ten_o particular_a commaand_n to_o be_v obey_v by_o his_o subject_n upon_o pain_n of_o death_n now_o if_o any_o man_n do_v transgress_v against_o any_o one_o of_o these_o ten_o he_o do_v commit_v treason_n as_o if_o he_o have_v break_v they_o all_o and_o 〈◊〉_d liable_a to_o have_v the_o sentence_n of_o the_o law_n as_o certain_o pass_v on_o he_o as_o if_o he_o have_v break_v every_o particular_a of_o they_o 2._o again_o you_o know_v that_o the_o law_n be_v give_v forth_o by_o the_o king_n which_o if_o a_o man_n keep_v and_o obey_v a_o long_a time_n yet_o if_o at_o the_o last_o he_o flip_v and_o break_v those_o law_n he_o be_v present_o apprehend_v and_o condemn_v by_o that_o law_n these_o thing_n be_v clear_a as_o touch_v the_o law_n of_o god_n as_o it_o be_v a_o covenant_n of_o work_n if_o a_o man_n do_v fulfil_v nine_o of_o the_o commandment_n and_o yet_o break_v but_o one_o that_o be_v break_v will_v as_o sure_o destroy_v he_o and_o shut_v he_o out_o from_o the_o joy_n of_o heaven_n as_o if_o he_o have_v actual_o transgress_v against_o they_o all_o for_o indeed_o in_o effect_n so_o he_o have_v there_o be_v a_o notable_a scripture_n for_o this_o in_o the_o epistle_n of_o james_n 2_o chap._n at_o the_o 10_o ver_fw-la for_o whosoever_o shall_v keep_v the_o whole_a law_n and_o yet_o offend_v in_o one_o point_n he_o be_v guilty_a of_o all_o that_o be_v he_o have_v in_o effect_n break_v they_o all_o and_o shall_v have_v the_o voice_n of_o they_o all_o cry_v out_o against_o he_o and_o it_o must_v needs_o be_v so_o say_v james_n because_o he_o that_o say_v or_o that_o law_n which_o say_v do_v not_o commit_v adultery_n say_v also_o do_v not_o kill_v now_o if_o thou_o commit_v no_o adultery_n yet_o if_o thou_o kill_v thou_o be_v become_v a_o transgressor_n of_o the_o law_n as_o thus_o it_o may_v be_v thou_o do_v never_o make_v to_o thyself_o a_o god_n of_o stone_n or_o wood_n or_o at_o least_o not_o to_o worship_v they_o so_o real_o and_o so_o open_o as_o the_o heathen_a do_v yet_o if_o thou_o have_v steal_v bear_v false_a witness_n or_o lust_v after_o a_o woman_n in_o thy_o heart_n mat._n 5._o 28._o thou_o have_v transgress_v the_o law_n and_o must_v for_o certain_a live_v and_o die_v under_o that_o covenant_n perish_v for_o ever_o by_o the_o law_n for_o the_o law_n have_v resolve_v on_o that_o beforehand_o say_v curse_a be_v every_o one_o that_o continue_v not_o in_o all_z thing_n mark_v i_o pray_v you_o in_o all_o thing_n that_o be_v the_o word_n and_o that_o feal_v the_o doctrine_n 3._o again_o though_o a_o man_n do_v not_o covet_v steal_v murder_n worship_n god_n of_o wood_n and_o stone_n etc._n etc._n yet_o if_o they_o do_v take_v the_o lord_n name_v in_o vain_a they_o be_v for_o ever_o go_v live_v and_o die_v under_o that_o covenant_n thou_o shall_v not_o take_v the_o name_n of_o the_o lord_n thy_o god_n in_o vain_a there_o be_v the_o command_n but_o how_o if_o we_o do_v then_o he_o say_v the_o lord_n will_v not_o hold_v he_o guiltless_a that_o take_v his_o name_n in_o vain_a no_o though_o you_o live_v as_o holy_a as_o ever_o thou_o can_v and_o walk_v as_o circumspect_o as_o ever_o any_o do_v yet_o if_o thou_o do_v take_v the_o lord_n name_v in_o vain_a thou_o be_v go_v by_o that_o covenant_n for_o i_o will_v not_o mark_n i_o will_v not_o let_v he_o be_v in_o never_o so_o much_o danger_n i_o will_v not_o hold_v he_o guiltless_a that_o take_v my_o name_n in_o vain_a exod._n 20._o 7._o and_o so_o likewise_o for_o any_o other_o of_o the_o ten_o do_v but_o break_v they_o and_o thy_o state_n be_v irrecoverable_a if_o thou_o live_v and_o die_v under_o that_o covenant_n 4._o though_o thou_o shall_v fulfil_v this_o covenant_n or_o law_n even_o all_o of_o it_o for_o a_o long_a time_n ten_o twenty_o forty_o fifty_o or_o threescore_o year_n yet_o if_o thou_o do_v chance_n to_o slip_v and_o break_v one_o of_o they_o but_o once_o before_o thou_o die_v thou_o be_v also_o go_v and_o lose_v by_o that_o covenant_n for_o mark_n curse_v be_v every_o one_o the_o law_n command_v thou_o to_o love_v the_o lord_n thy_o god_n with_o all_o thy_o soul_n with_o all_o thy_o strength_n with_o all_o thy_o might_n etc._n etc._n and_o can_v the_o natural_a man_n do_v this_o jer._n 13._o 23._o how_o can_v those_o that_o be_v accustom_v to_o do_v evil_a do_v that_o which_o be_v command_v in_o this_o particular_a can_v the_o ethiopian_a change_n his_o skin_n or_o the_o leopard_n his_o spot_n do_v the_o law_n command_v thou_o to_o do_v good_a and_o nothing_o but_o good_a and_o that_o with_o all_o thy_o soul_n heart_n and_o delight_n which_o the_o law_n as_o a_o covenant_n of_o work_n call_v for_o and_o can_v thou_o be_v carnal_a do_v that_o but_o there_o be_v no_o man_n that_o have_v understanding_n if_o he_o shall_v hear_v thou_o say_v so_o but_o will_v say_v that_o thou_o be_v either_o bewitch_v or_o stark_o mad_a six_o they_o that_o be_v under_o the_o law_n be_v in_o a_o sad_a condition_n because_o that_o though_o they_o follow_v the_o law_n contrariwise_o to_o those_o that_o be_v under_o the_o law_n for_o they_o have_v his_o frown_n his_o rebuke_n his_o threaten_n and_o with_o much_o severity_n they_o must_v be_v deal_v withal_o for_o they_o break_v my_o covenant_n and_o i_o regard_v they_o not_o say_v the_o lord_n heb._n 8._o 9_o nine_o they_o be_v in_o a_o sad_a condition_n because_o they_o be_v out_o of_o the_o faith_n of_o christ_n they_o that_o be_v under_o the_o law_n have_v not_o the_o faith_n of_o christ_n in_o they_o for_o that_o dispensation_n which_o they_o be_v under_o be_v not_o the_o administration_n of_o faith_n the_o law_n be_v not_o of_o faith_n say_v the_o apostle_n gal._n 3._o 2._o ten_o because_o they_o have_v not_o receive_v the_o spirit_n for_o that_o be_v receive_v by_o the_o bear_n of_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n for_o all_o these_o privilege_n come_v to_o soul_n under_o another_o covenant_n as_o the_o apostle_n say_v for_o such_o be_v not_o under_o the_o law_n but_o under_o grace_n that_o be_v such_o as_o have_v a_o share_n in_o the_o benefit_n of_o jesus_n christ_n or_o such_o as_o be_v bring_v from_o under_o the_o first_o covenant_n into_o the_o second_o or_o from_o under_o the_o law_n into_o the_o grace_n of_o christ_n gospel_n without_o which_o covenant_n of_o grace_n and_o be_v find_v in_o that_o there_o be_v no_o soul_n can_v have_v the_o least_o hope_n of_o eternal_a life_n no_o joy_n in_o the_o holy_a ghost_n no_o share_n in_o the_o privilege_n of_o saint_n because_o they_o be_v tie_v up_o from_o they_o by_o the_o limit_n and_o bond_n of_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n for_o you_o must_v understand_v that_o these_o two_o covenant_n have_v their_o several_a bound_n and_o limitation_n for_o the_o roll_a and_o keep_v in_o subjection_n or_o give_v of_o freedom_n to_o the_o party_n under_o the_o say_a covenant_n now_o they_o that_o be_v under_o the_o law_n be_v within_o the_o compass_n and_o the_o jurisdiction_n of_o that_o and_o be_v bind_v to_o be_v in_o subjection_n to_o that_o and_o live_v and_o die_v under_o that_o they_o must_v stand_v and_o fall_v to_o that_o as_o paul_n say_v to_o his_o own_o master_n he_o shall_v stand_v or_o fall_v the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n do_v admit_v to_o those_o that_o be_v under_o it_o also_o liberty_n and_o freedom_n together_o with_o command_v of_o subjection_n to_o the_o thing_n contain_v in_o it_o which_o i_o shall_v speak_v to_o further_a hereafter_o but_o now_o that_o the_o former_a thing_n may_v be_v further_o make_v to_o appear_v that_o be_v what_o the_o sad_a condition_n of_o all_o they_o that_o be_v under_o the_o law_n be_v as_o i_o have_v show_v you_o something_o of_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o law_n so_o also_o shall_v i_o show_v that_o the_o law_n be_v add_v and_o give_v for_o that_o purpose_n that_o it_o may_v be_v so_o with_o those_o that_o be_v out_o of_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n first_o god_n do_v give_v the_o law_n that_o sin_n may_v abound_v rom._n 5._o 20._o not_o that_o it_o shall_v take_v away_o sin_n in_o any_o but_o to_o discover_v the_o sin_n which_o be_v already_o beget_v or_o that_o may_v hereafter_o be_v beget_v by_o lust_n and_o satan_n i_o say_v this_o be_v one_o proper_a work_n of_o the_o law_n to_o make_v manifest_a sin_n it_o be_v send_v to_o find_v fault_n with_o the_o sinner_n and_o it_o do_v also_o watch_v that_o it_o may_v so_o do_v and_o it_o do_v take_v all_o advantage_n for_o the_o accomplish_n of_o its_o work_n in_o they_o that_o give_v ear_n thereto_o or_o do_v not_o give_v ear_n if_o it_o have_v the_o rule_n over_o they_o i_o say_v it_o be_v like_o a_o man_n that_o be_v send_v by_o his_o lord_n to_o see_v and_o pry_v into_o the_o labour_n and_o work_n of_o other_o man_n take_v every_o advantage_n to_o discover_v their_o infirmity_n and_o fail_n and_o to_o chide_v they_o yea_o to_o throw_v they_o out_o of_o the_o lord_n favour_n for_o the_o same_o second_o another_o great_a end_n why_o the_o lord_n do_v add_v or_o give_v the_o law_n it_o be_v that_o no_o man_n may_v have_v any_o thing_n to_o lay_v to_o the_o charge_n of_o the_o lord_n for_o his_o condemn_v of_o they_o that_o do_v transgress_v against_o the_o same_o you_o know_v that_o if_o a_o man_n shall_v be_v have_v before_o a_o officer_n or_o judge_n and_o there_o be_v condemn_v and_o yet_o by_o no_o law_n he_o that_o condemn_v he_o may_v be_v very_o well_o reprehend_v or_o reprove_v for_o pass_v the_o judgement_n yea_o the_o party_n himself_o may_v have_v better_a ground_n to_o plead_v for_o his_o liberty_n than_o the_o other_o to_o plead_v for_o the_o condemn_v of_o he_o but_o this_o shall_v not_o be_v so_o in_o the_o judgement_n day_n but_o contrariwise_o for_o then_o every_o man_n shall_v be_v force_v to_o lay_v his_o hand_n the_o proceed_n of_o the_o lord_n in_o justice_n and_o judgement_n say_v lord_n why_o be_o i_o thus_o condemn_v i_o do_v not_o know_v it_o be_v sin_n now_o against_o these_o two_o be_v the_o law_n give_v and_o that_o betimes_o so_o that_o both_o these_o be_v answer_v if_o the_o first_o come_v in_o and_o say_v why_o be_o i_o judge_v why_o be_o i_o damn_v then_o will_v the_o law_n come_v in_o even_o all_o the_o ten_o commandment_n with_o every_o one_o of_o their_o cry_n against_o thy_o soul_n the_o first_o say_n he_o have_v sin_v against_o i_o damn_v he_o the_o second_o say_v also_o he_o have_v transgress_v against_o i_o damn_v he_o the_o three_o also_o say_v the_o same_o together_o with_o the_o 4_o 5_o 6_o 7_o 8_o 9_o 10._o even_o all_o of_o they_o will_v discharge_v themselves_o against_o thy_o soul_n if_o thou_o die_v under_o the_o first_o covenant_n say_v he_o or_o they_o have_v transgress_v against_o we_o damn_v they_o damn_v they_o and_o i_o tell_v thou_o also_o that_o these_o ten_o great_a gun_n the_o ten_o commandment_n will_v with_o discharge_v themselves_o in_o justice_n against_o thy_o soul_n so_o rattle_v in_o thy_o conscience_n that_o thou_o will_v in_o spite_n of_o thy_o tooth_n be_v immediate_o put_v to_o silence_n and_o have_v thy_o mouth_n stop_v and_o let_v i_o tell_v thou_o further_o that_o if_o thou_o shall_v appear_v before_o god_n to_o have_v the_o ten_o commandment_n discharge_v themselves_o against_o thou_o thou_o have_v better_o be_v tie_v to_o a_o tree_n and_o have_v ten_o yea_o ten_o thousand_o of_o the_o big_a piece_n of_o ordnance_n in_o the_o world_n to_o be_v shoot_v off_o against_o thou_o for_o these_o can_v go_v no_o further_o but_o only_o to_o kill_v the_o body_n but_o they_o both_o body_n and_o soul_n to_o be_v torment_v in_o hell_n with_o the_o devil_n to_o all_o eternity_n 3._o again_o if_o the_o second_o thing_n shall_v be_v object_v say_v but_o lord_n i_o do_v not_o think_v this_o have_v be_v sin_n or_o the_o other_o have_v be_v sin_n for_o no_o body_n tell_v i_o so_o then_o also_o will_v the_o give_v of_o the_o law_n take_v off_o that_o say_v nay_o but_o i_o be_v give_v to_o thy_o father_n adam_n before_o he_o have_v sin_v or_o before_o thou_o be_v bear_v and_o have_v ever_o since_o be_v in_o thy_o soul_n to_o convince_v thou_o of_o thy_o sin_n and_o to_o control_v thou_o for_o do_v the_o thing_n that_o be_v not_o right_a do_v not_o i_o secret_o tell_v thou_o at_o such_o a_o time_n in_o such_o a_o place_n when_o thou_o be_v do_v of_o such_o a_o thing_n with_o such_o a_o one_o or_o when_o thou_o be_v all_o alone_a that_o this_o be_v a_o sin_n and_o that_o god_n do_v forbid_v it_o therefore_o if_o thou_o do_v commit_v it_o god_n will_v be_v displease_v with_o thou_o for_o it_o and_o when_o thou_o be_v think_v to_o do_v such_o a_o thing_n at_o such_o a_o time_n do_v not_o i_o say_v forbear_v do_v not_o so_o god_n will_v smite_v thou_o and_o punish_v thou_o for_o it_o if_o thou_o do_v do_v it_o and_o beside_o god_n do_v so_o order_v it_o that_o you_o have_v i_o in_o your_o house_n in_o your_o bibles_n and_o also_o you_o can_v speak_v and_o talk_v of_o i_o thus_o plead_v the_o truth_n thou_o shall_v be_v force_v to_o confess_v it_o be_v so_o nay_o it_o shall_v be_v so_o in_o some_o sort_n with_o the_o very_a gentile_n and_o barbarous_a people_n that_o fall_v far_o short_a of_o that_o light_n we_o have_v in_o these_o part_n of_o the_o world_n for_o say_v the_o apostle_n the_o gentile_n which_o have_v not_o the_o law_n these_o do_v by_o nature_n the_o thing_n contain_v in_o the_o law_n these_o have_v not_o the_o law_n that_o be_v not_o write_v as_o we_o have_v yet_o they_o be_v a_o law_n unto_o themselves_o which_o show_v the_o work_n of_o the_o law_n be_v write_v in_o their_o heart_n rom._n 2._o 14_o 15._o that_o be_v they_o have_v the_o law_n of_o work_n in_o they_o by_o nature_n and_o therefore_o they_o shall_v be_v leave_v without_o excuse_n for_o their_o own_o conscience_n shall_v stand_v up_o for_o the_o truth_n of_o this_o where_o he_o say_v their_o conscience_n also_o bear_v witness_n and_o their_o thought_n the_o mean_a while_n accuse_v or_o else_o excuse_v one_o another_o ay_o but_o when_o why_o in_o the_o day_n when_o god_n shall_v judge_v the_o secret_n of_o man_n by_o jesus_n christ_n according_a to_o my_o gospel_n rom._n 2._o shall_v become_v guilty_a that_o be_v they_o shall_v be_v fit_a vessel_n for_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n to_o be_v pour_v out_o into_o be_v fill_v with_o guilt_n by_o reason_n of_o transgression_n against_o the_o commandment_n thus_o therefore_o shall_v the_o party_n under_o the_o first_o covenant_n be_v fit_v to_o destruction_n rom._n 9_o 22._o even_o as_o wood_n or_o straw_n be_v well_o dry_v be_v fit_v for_o the_o fire_n and_o the_o law_n be_v add_v and_o give_v and_o speak_v to_o this_o very_a end_n that_o sin_n may_v be_v show_v mouth_n may_v be_v stop_v from_o quarrel_v and_o that_o all_o the_o world_n mark_n the_o world_n may_v become_v guilty_a before_o god_n and_o so_o be_v in_o justice_n for_o ever_o and_o ever_o overthrow_v because_o of_o their_o sin_n and_o this_o will_v say_v while_o moses_n be_v read_v or_o while_o the_o law_n be_v discover_v the_o vail_n be_v over_o their_o heart_n 2_o cor._n 3._o 15._o that_o be_v the_o vail_n of_o ignorance_n be_v still_o upon_o their_o heart_n so_o that_o they_o can_v discern_v either_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o law_n or_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o gospel_n they_o be_v so_o dark_a and_o blind_a in_o their_o mind_n as_o you_o may_v see_v if_o you_o compare_v it_o with_o chap._n 4._o 3_o 4._o and_o true_o i_o be_o confident_a that_o be_v you_o but_o well_o examine_v i_o doubt_v many_o of_o you_o will_v be_v find_v so_o ignorant_a that_o you_o will_v not_o be_v able_a to_o give_v a_o word_n of_o right_a answer_n concern_v either_o the_o law_n or_o the_o gospel_n nay_o my_o friend_n set_v the_o case_n one_o shall_v ask_v you_o what_o time_n you_o spend_v what_o pain_n you_o take_v to_o the_o end_n you_o may_v understand_v the_o nature_n and_o difference_n of_o these_o two_o covenant_n will_v you_o not_o say_v if_o you_o shall_v speak_v the_o truth_n that_o you_o do_v not_o so_o much_o as_o regard_v whether_o there_o be_v two_o or_o more_o will_v you_o not_o say_v i_o do_v not_o think_v of_o covenant_n or_o study_v the_o nature_n of_o they_o i_o think_v that_o if_o i_o have_v live_v honest_o and_o do_v as_o well_o as_o
