proper_o part_n of_o regeneration_n which_o do_v differ_v from_o repentance_n as_o shall_v be_v see_v differ_v regeneration_n and_o repentance_n differ_v hereafter_o by_o that_o which_o have_v be_v already_o say_v we_o understand_v what_o be_v the_o especial_a point_n of_o repentance_n from_o whence_o it_o proceed_v and_o whereunto_o it_o serve_v the_o point_n from_o whence_o it_o proceed_v be_v the_o work_n of_o nature_n for_o in_o that_o epistle_n he_o dispute_v principal_o against_o this_o kind_n of_o work_n he_o reason_v against_o they_o as_o seem_v meritorious_a &_o not_o as_o duty_n &_o man_n to_o receive_v grace_n therefore_o the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o gospel_n begin_v with_o the_o legal_a doctrine_n of_o work_n and_o of_o the_o law_n moral_a for_o the_o gospel_n shall_v preach_v end_n &_o use_v of_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n be_v that_o man_n by_o it_o may_v be_v justify_v and_o save_v or_o otherwise_o condemn_v the_o covenant_n of_o work_n have_v this_o use_n in_o adam_n before_o his_o fall_n that_o adam_n by_o it_o may_v be_v justify_v and_o live_v after_o the_o fall_n it_o have_v the_o same_o use_n in_o the_o unregenerate_a elect_a and_o reprobate_a to_o wit_n to_o proper_o discern_v by_o that_o glass_n of_o god_n law_n and_o covenant_n of_o work_n by_o the_o light_n and_o brightness_n of_o these_o i_o say_v we_o may_v take_v a_o view_n of_o the_o gross_a darkness_n filthiness_n and_o deformity_n of_o our_o corrupt_a nature_n for_o this_o cause_n it_o be_v say_v ro._n 3._o 20._o by_o the_o law_n come_v the_o knowledge_n of_o fin_n five_o they_o see_v sanctification_n and_o regeneration_n that_o so_o they_o may_v bring_v forth_o the_o fruit_n of_o the_o spirit_n four_o they_o wait_v for_o to_o attain_v that_o life_n eternal_a which_o be_v give_v we_o of_o god_n free_a grace_n in_o and_o by_o that_o impute_a righteousness_n of_o christ_n if_o we_o be_v possess_v in_o this_o life_n of_o a_o perfect_a faith_n in_o christ_n not_o a_o perfect_a faith_n we_o have_v not_o and_o so_o of_o perfect_a holiness_n then_o i_o grant_v the_o believer_n shall_v not_o need_v this_o terrible_a glass_n of_o the_o law_n and_o of_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n but_o because_o unbelief_n still_o rest_v in_o this_o our_o nature_n and_o the_o relic_n of_o that_o inherent_a contagion_n still_o abide_v in_o we_o and_o for_o that_o so_o long_o as_o we_o live_v here_o neither_o our_o faith_n nor_o holiness_n can_v be_v perfect_v therefore_o to_o weaken_v more_o &_o more_o our_o unbelcefe_n and_o inherent_a sin_n in_o we_o and_o more_o and_o more_o to_o increase_v faith_n and_o holiness_n we_o have_v ever_o need_v of_o this_o terrible_a glass_n as_o a_o continual_a severe_a schoolmaster_n which_o ever_o cast_v many_o fear_n before_o we_o may_v necessary_o first_o that_o it_o be_v most_o ancient_a second_o most_o clear_a three_o most_o simple_a or_o pure_a four_o most_o powerful_a fift_o most_o necessary_a sixth_o most_o perfect_a seventhly_a the_o great_a &_o best_a judge_n of_o all_o controversy_n without_o exception_n eight_o most_o excellent_a but_o for_o as_o much_o as_o the_o adversary_n deny_v these_o eight_o property_n therefore_o as_o be_v a_o foresay_a there_o be_v of_o every_o one_o of_o they_o a_o special_a controversy_n we_o be_v then_o to_o handle_v these_o controversy_n in_o order_n and_o first_o of_o that_o which_o by_o due_a right_n &_o natural_o be_v to_o have_v the_o first_o place_n whether_o the_o scripture_n be_v the_o word_n of_o god_n the_o adversary_n grant_v general_o that_o the_o holy_a scripture_n be_v the_o word_n of_o god_n but_o when_o they_o be_v bring_v from_o the_o general_a to_o a_o special_a they_o break_v from_o us._n to_o speak_v more_o plain_o the_o word_n of_o god_n at_o man_n by_o the_o spirit_n of_o jesus_n christ_n see_v then_o we_o leave_v this_o remote_a power_n to_o the_o will_n of_o the_o unregenerate_a man_n that_o be_v a_o certain_a power_n of_o the_o cause_n material_a there_o be_v no_o cause_n why_o our_o adversary_n shall_v say_v that_o we_o make_v man_n very_a stock_n and_o block_n because_o we_o deny_v free_a will_n unto_o they_o for_o this_o power_n of_o the_o material_a cause_n unto_o good_a which_o we_o ascribe_v unto_o the_o will_n of_o man_n unregenerat_a may_v not_o true_o be_v ascribe_v to_o any_o dead_a stock_n or_o trunk_n we_o must_v god_n we_o all_o have_v experience_n that_o our_o will_n natural_o be_v incline_v to_o that_o righteousness_n which_o be_v by_o work_n and_o which_o be_v a_o certain_a humane_a good_a thing_n hence_o it_o come_v that_o even_o to_o this_o day_n all_o the_o world_n follow_v nature_n seek_v to_o be_v justify_v by_o good_a work_n but_o the_o same_o will_n do_v whole_o abhor_v and_o utter_o dislike_v that_o righteousness_n whichis_n by_o faith_n the_o reason_n be_v because_o it_o be_v a_o certain_a spiritual_a &_o unknown_a good_a thing_n hence_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o so_o few_o seek_v to_o be_v justify_v by_o faith_n and_o by_o the_o alone_a mercy_n of_o god_n in_o jesus_n christ_n by_o this_o and_o other_o such_o like_a example_n it_o appear_v that_o man_n will_n be_v more_o incline_v by_o nature_n to_o humane_a good_a thing_n and_o whole_o to_o abhor_v spiritual_a good_a thing_n albeit_o in_o truth_n to_o speak_v exact_o it_o be_v incline_v to_o no_o good_a at_o all_o as_o it_o be_v true_o good_a it_o be_v not_o incline_v at_o all_o no_o not_o to_o those_o humane_a thing_n as_o they_o be_v true_o good_a and_o acceptable_a unto_o god_n for_o it_o will_v they_o neither_o in_o that_o manner_n neither_o to_o that_o end_n it_o ought_v so_o far_o forth_o then_o as_o it_o will_v they_o even_o those_o thing_n that_o be_v good_a in_o themselves_o be_v sin_n and_o unpleasing_a to_o god_n notwithstanding_o they_o differ_v from_o those_o evil_n and_o sin_n which_o even_o in_o themselves_o &_o in_o their_o own_o nature_n be_v sin_n as_o manslaughter_n adultery_n
