sin_n remissible_a and_o another_o thing_n to_o assure_v themselves_o that_o they_o be_v remit_v after_o i_o say_v this_o comfort_n receive_v by_o the_o preach_n of_o the_o word_n they_o labour_v no_o further_o to_o be_v renew_v and_o thorough_o reform_v although_o they_o have_v some_o sorrow_n for_o a_o season_n yet_o because_o they_o do_v not_o search_v themselves_o more_o narrow_o and_o endeavour_n to_o purge_v themselves_o as_o well_o from_o inward_a sin_n as_o from_o outward_a and_o to_o be_v whole_o transfigure_v and_o transform_v into_o a_o new_a holy_a and_o righteous_a life_n therefore_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o the_o love_n of_o righteousness_n depart_v from_o they_o and_o they_o return_v again_o to_o their_o old_a by_o as_o and_o be_v become_v pray_v for_o jesuit_n and_o mass_v priest_n such_o be_v their_o profaneness_n and_o this_o be_v because_o they_o rest_v only_o in_o the_o universal_a promise_n of_o god_n which_o although_o they_o be_v all_o most_o true_a show_v themselves_o zealous_a until_o they_o come_v to_o preferment_n or_o to_o this_o end_n that_o many_o perceive_v their_o zeal_n may_v flock_v after_o they_o to_o hear_v they_o &_o so_o they_o of_o some_o other_o heresy_n the_o cause_n of_o this_o be_v because_o their_o inward_a stuff_n be_v corrupt_v and_o not_o full_o cure_v by_o effectual_a repentance_n and_o thus_o much_o of_o gross_a sin_n now_o of_o the_o infirmity_n of_o nature_n which_o remain_v ever_o in_o the_o best_a this_o inward_a infirmity_n corruption_n must_v be_v sell_v also_o for_o it_o be_v not_o enough_o to_o leave_v outward_a and_o gross_a sin_n except_o also_o we_o beat_v down_o the_o inward_a corruption_n of_o our_o own_o nature_n and_o although_o corruption_n we_o can_v altogether_o blot_v out_o this_o our_o natural_a corruption_n yet_o the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n may_v be_v so_o resident_a and_o dwell_v in_o we_o that_o it_o shall_v not_o only_o keep_v we_o from_o gross_a outward_a outrage_n and_o offence_n but_o also_o will_v hold_v down_o &_o keep_v short_a our_o natural_a corruption_n neither_o must_v we_o think_v it_o enough_o to_o sell_v the_o fruit_n of_o our_o corrupt_a nature_n but_o we_o must_v also_o sell_v the_o corruption_n itself_o for_o as_o we_o see_v so_o long_o as_o the_o tree_n remain_v there_o will_v always_o spring_v forth_o some_o bud_n even_o so_o of_o the_o child_n of_o god_n so_o long_o as_o the_o corruption_n of_o the_o nature_n reign_v in_o they_o so_o long_o do_v they_o burst_v out_o into_o some_o offence_n or_o other_o but_o most_o man_n make_v either_o little_a or_o no_o conscience_n at_o all_o of_o these_o little_a fault_n but_o it_o must_v be_v otherwise_o with_o we_o or_o else_o we_o can_v but_o displease_v god_n great_o for_o as_o a_o river_n dry_v up_o unto_o the_o fountain_n yet_o if_o we_o do_v rest_n from_o all_o empty_n of_o it_o it_o will_v increase_v again_o so_o except_o the_o child_n of_o god_n do_v keep_v down_o downfal_n wherefore_o we_o must_v not_o with_o the_o woman_n whereof_o the_o poet_n speak_v see_v and_o behold_v good_a and_o lawful_a thing_n and_o follow_v that_o which_o be_v evil_a neither_o they_o come_v to_o particular_n to_o comfort_v those_o that_o lie_v sick_a or_o to_o raise_v up_o they_o that_o be_v tempt_v for_o want_v of_o practice_n in_o themselves_o can_v say_v nothing_o the_o very_a heathen_a etc._n can_v grant_v and_o you_o know_v who_o speak_v it_o that_o a_o mâ—â—s_n life_n be_v a_o cogitation_n of_o death_n but_o because_o we_o can_v meditate_v of_o death_n for_o that_o we_o join_v with_o it_o the_o hope_n of_o immortality_n i_o say_v that_o a_o christian_a man_n life_n mâ—y_v well_o besaide_a to_o be_v a_o meditation_n of_o the_o law_n of_o god_n and_o how_o our_o affection_n be_v almost_o dead_a within_o us._n there_o follow_v in_o the_o end_n of_o the_o verse_n continual_o we_o know_v by_o proof_n of_o daily_a experience_n that_o whatsoever_o we_o love_v of_o that_o we_o continual_o think_v and_o in_o that_o this_o quality_n or_o 2._o circumstance_n be_v join_v with_o meditation_n we_o be_v teach_v that_o though_o we_o must_v read_v hear_v confer_v pray_v and_o give_v thanks_o often_o yet_o we_o must_v meditate_v continual_o for_o as_o it_o be_v absurd_a to_o say_v that_o a_o man_n shall_v be_v continual_o read_v or_o confer_v so_o we_o must_v know_v that_o it_o be_v requisite_a in_o all_o these_o thing_n to_o examine_v ourselves_o by_o meditation_n whether_o we_o read_v profitable_o confer_v effectual_o or_o pray_v understand_o that_o we_o now_o have_v this_o continual_a meditation_n we_o must_v pray_v that_o we_o may_v have_v a_o love_n to_o the_o word_n love_n indeed_o be_v of_o itself_o eloquent_a enough_o if_o we_o have_v it_o in_o any_o good_a measure_n word_n but_o to_o stir_v up_o this_o love_n we_o must_v use_v many_o reason_n about_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o word_n how_o it_o be_v mystical_a pure_a and_o eternal_a which_o when_o we_o see_v in_o truth_n we_o shall_v love_v the_o word_n where_o he_o say_v in_o it_o be_v my_o meditation_n we_o must_v understand_v that_o it_o be_v no_o rove_a meditation_n but_o that_o it_o be_v circumscribe_v within_o the_o compass_n of_o the_o law_n of_o god_n now_o to_o our_o profit_n let_v we_o learn_v to_o meditate_v according_a to_o the_o law_n of_o the_o lord_n and_o so_o as_o under_o the_o general_n we_o may_v touch_v the_o particular_n to_o make_v the_o use_n of_o they_o in_o ourselves_o thus_o we_o have_v see_v the_o cause_n of_o this_o effect_n to_o be_v love_n for_o as_o the_o rich_a man_n of_o this_o world_n meditate_v of_o gather_v good_n natural_a lover_n of_o their_o love_n and_o ambitious_a man_n of_o their_o preferment_n so_o the_o man_n of_o god_n have_v no_o great_a riches_n pleasure_n nor_o glory_n than_o in_o the_o word_n make_v it_o his_o whole_a delight_n and_o study_v for_o where_o we_o love_v thither_o love_n do_v easy_o draw_v our_o affection_n with_o it_o we_o have_v hear_v why_o mention_n be_v make_v only_o of_o meditation_n namely_o because_o it_o be_v the_o life_n love_v of_o all_o the_o other_o mean_n and_o make_v they_o more_o fruitful_a and_o why_o his_o meditation_n be_v marry_v to_o the_o law_n even_o because_o it_o exclude_v all_o vain_a collection_n which_o proceed_v of_o general_a knowledge_n beside_o therefore_o be_v meditation_n name_v because_o it_o most_o agree_v with_o the_o nature_n of_o love_n for_o though_o we_o can_v always_o be_v read_v hear_v or_o talk_v of_o those_o thing_n which_o we_o â—â—â—â—_o we_o may_v always_o think_v and_o meditate_v of_o they_o now_o what_o be_v the_o cause_n that_o 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d be_v preach_v and_o â—o_o little_a be_v practise_v but_o because_o we_o use_v so_o little_a conference_n prayer_n and_o meditation_n the_o remedy_n hereof_o be_v to_o know_v what_o a_o sin_n this_o be_v and_o that_o among_o all_o 〈◊〉_d in_o the_o day_n of_o trouble_n none_o so_o great_a to_o torment_v our_o conscience_n as_o that_o we_o have_v test_a in_o a_o general_a 〈◊〉_d and_o â—â—â—â—ng_v of_o the_o word_n without_o apply_v of_o it_o to_o our_o several_a practice_n that_o wisdom_n whereby_o they_o may_v excel_v their_o enemy_n in_o policy_n their_o teacher_n in_o doctrine_n and_o the_o age_a in_o counsel_n he_o declare_v that_o he_o make_v this_o choice_n to_o prosperity_n make_v we_o to_o forget_v god_n so_o many_o inconvenience_n by_o affliction_n may_v befall_v we_o as_o either_o dulness_n deadness_n blockishness_n or_o wicked_a shift_n or_o ungodly_a final_o shall_v prevail_v against_o us._n we_o see_v the_o prophet_n desire_v god_n to_o be_v the_o patron_n of_o a_o righteous_a cause_n and_o of_o a_o righteous_a cause_n right_o handle_v we_o must_v then_o if_o we_o will_v assure_v ourselves_o of_o god_n protection_n first_o consider_v if_o our_o cause_n be_v just_a and_o have_v such_o a_o cause_n whether_o we_o have_v right_o deal_v in_o it_o let_v we_o therefore_o when_o we_o be_v oppress_v search_v our_o cause_n if_o we_o feel_v that_o our_o conscience_n be_v guilty_a than_o no_o marvel_n though_o we_o suffer_v because_o the_o lord_n correct_v either_o our_o evil_a cause_n or_o our_o ill_a handle_n of_o a_o good_a cause_n we_o must_v see_v that_o in_o the_o equity_n of_o our_o request_n our_o cause_n be_v just_a and_o show_v not_o ourselves_o humble_a and_o dutiful_a in_o the_o defence_n of_o it_o then_o we_o have_v deserve_v just_o to_o be_v evil_o entreat_v of_o they_o if_o we_o shall_v observe_v this_o to_o happen_v either_o among_o magistrate_n to_o their_o subject_n or_o landlord_n to_o their_o tenant_n or_o any_o other_o governor_n to_o their_o inferior_n when_o they_o shall_v deal_v ill_a with_o we_o in_o debt_n fine_n and_o exaction_n we_o must_v consider_v that_o if_o we_o have_v do_v righteous_o we_o have_v the_o liberty_n to_o comfort_v our_o soul_n in_o prayer_n lord_n i_o have_v do_v the_o part_n of_o a_o faithful_a subject_n or_o the_o duty_n of_o a_o good_a tenant_n lord_n help_v i_o against_o this_o man_n which_o oppress_v i_o wrongful_o but_o if_o we_o have_v discourage_v their_o heart_n either_o simple_o by_o ill_a do_v or_o in_o a_o good_a thing_n by_o ill_a deal_n we_o must_v know_v that_o the_o lord_n by_o they_o do_v take_v some_o good_a thing_n from_o we_o who_o from_o they_o do_v take_v some_o good_a duty_n we_o must_v see_v then_o whether_o we_o have_v do_v our_o duty_n in_o love_n or_o not_o this_o will_v keep_v we_o from_o fume_v and_o will_v make_v we_o rest_v in_o prayer_n the_o ignorance_n of_o this_o doctrine_n make_v we_o fret_v and_o fume_n who_o never_o consider_v whether_o our_o cause_n be_v good_a or_o whether_o in_o a_o good_a cause_n we_o have_v use_v good_a deal_n or_o no._n if_o god_n child_n look_v thus_o into_o their_o conscience_n it_o will_v humble_v they_o as_o sure_o i_o do_v not_o well_o to_o he_o god_n suffer_v he_o to_o do_v the_o like_a to_o i_o again_o and_o meat_v out_o unto_o i_o the_o like_a measure_n with_o my_o own_o meat-yeard_n where_o we_o must_v learn_v that_o god_n child_n never_o deal_v so_o earnest_o with_o their_o enemy_n as_o with_o their_o god_n and_o as_o this_o hold_v in_o superior_n so_o must_v we_o mark_v this_o doctrine_n in_o all_o trouble_n with_o our_o inferior_n or_o equal_n now_o if_o our_o servant_n or_o our_o child_n do_v not_o deal_v dutiful_o with_o we_o we_o must_v enter_v into_o ourselves_o on_o this_o sort_n lord_n i_o have_v bring_v up_o these_o son_n or_o servant_n in_o thy_o nurture_n and_o fear_n i_o have_v instruct_v they_o and_o pray_v for_o they_o i_o have_v use_v all_o mean_n whereby_o i_o may_v bring_v they_o to_o good_a yet_o for_o all_o this_o they_o deal_v ill_o with_o i_o and_o in_o this_o case_n we_o must_v know_v that_o god_n will_v hear_v our_o prayer_n but_o if_o we_o have_v not_o do_v our_o part_n in_o clothing_n feed_v or_o teach_v they_o or_o in_o pray_v for_o they_o it_o be_v the_o judgement_n of_o god_n in_o that_o we_o have_v not_o do_v the_o duty_n of_o godly_a parent_n &_o christian_a householder_n in_o make_v they_o the_o child_n of_o god_n and_o servant_n of_o the_o lord_n neither_o can_v we_o say_v lord_n release_v i_o in_o this_o case_n
the_o avoid_n of_o the_o infection_n which_o may_v be_v get_v by_o evil_a company_n for_o what_o can_v preserve_v a_o man_n in_o sodom_n but_o only_o his_o lawful_a call_n therefore_o unless_o a_o will_v work_v another_o way_n and_o labour_n by_o slander_n and_o false_a report_n in_o such_o wise_a to_o discredit_v he_o that_o he_o may_v be_v utter_o discourage_v and_o cause_v to_o forsake_v his_o profession_n and_o yet_o they_o will_v find_v another_o way_n if_o this_o will_v not_o work_v they_o will_v devise_v crafty_a fetch_n 3_o and_o practice_v subtlety_n against_o he_o they_o will_v invent_v pestiferous_a policy_n and_o find_v crafty_a counsel_n to_o overthrow_v he_o these_o and_o many_o other_o way_n have_v they_o to_o spit_v their_o spite_n and_o spew_v out_o their_o venomous_a poison_n against_o the_o people_n of_o god_n if_o thus_o also_o they_o can_v have_v that_o success_n they_o look_v for_o if_o by_o this_o mean_v they_o can_v obtain_v their_o purpose_n they_o will_v take_v a_o contrary_a course_n to_o prevail_v that_o way_n if_o it_o be_v possible_a they_o will_v fame_n friendship_n and_o become_v our_o friend_n they_o will_v flatter_v we_o with_o fair_a word_n and_o allure_v we_o with_o their_o benefit_n to_o communicate_v with_o they_o in_o their_o wickedness_n and_o to_o be_v companion_n with_o they_o in_o their_o sin_n but_o when_o they_o deal_v most_o dangerous_o when_o they_o mark_v and_o observe_v our_o disposition_n and_o become_v appliable_a to_o our_o nature_n for_o this_o mean_n will_v they_o also_o use_v so_o malicious_a be_v they_o indeed_o towards_o us._n if_o we_o be_v religious_a they_o will_v shape_v some_o show_n of_o religion_n if_o we_o praise_v any_o they_o will_v praise_v he_o if_o we_o mislike_v or_o dispraise_v any_o they_o will_v show_v their_o mislike_n of_o he_o thus_o in_o all_o thing_n they_o will_v mark_v our_o mind_n and_o our_o disposition_n and_o will_v so_o apply_v themselves_o unto_o we_o that_o except_o god_n give_v we_o grace_n they_o will_v overthrow_v us._n see_v therefore_o they_o have_v a_o ready_a will_n to_o hurt_v we_o see_v also_o they_o have_v great_a skill_n to_o devise_v most_o forcible_a and_o
