the_o advancement_n of_o the_o nature_n so_o of_o our_o personal_a advancement_n too_o as_o many_o of_o we_o as_o belong_v to_o christ_n for_o all_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o godhead_n with_o which_o the_o manhood_n shine_v be_v for_o we_o and_o our_o advantage_n if_o he_o sanctify_v himself_o it_o be_v for_o our_o sake_n as_o his_o own_o expression_n be_v and_o so_o if_o he_o glorify_v himself_o it_o be_v for_o our_o sake_n too_o it_o be_v for_o our_o sake_n that_o he_o pray_v and_o now_o o_o father_n glorify_v i_o with_o thyself_o with_o the_o glory_n etc._n etc._n for_o all_o his_o it_o so_o we_o be_v certain_a that_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o manhood_n of_o our_o saviour_n shall_v one_o day_n be_v communicate_v to_o we_o so_o far_o as_o we_o be_v able_a to_o receive_v it_o we_o know_v that_o when_o he_o shall_v appear_v we_o shall_v be_v like_o he_o and_o that_o these_o vile_a body_n shall_v be_v conform_v to_o his_o glorious_a body_n phil._n 3.21_o and_o this_o shall_v glory_n of_o his_o godhead_n for_o that_o he_o have_v never_o lose_v a_o man_n will_v think_v he_o will_v not_o mean_v the_o glory_n of_o his_o manhood_n for_o that_o he_o never_o have_v and_o therefore_o can_v not_o pray_v for_o the_o recovery_n or_o the_o restitution_n of_o the_o one_o or_o of_o the_o other_o he_o can_v not_o say_v to_o god_n the_o father_n with_o relation_n to_o his_o godhead_n glorify_v i_o with_o the_o glory_n which_o i_o have_v with_o thou_o before_o the_o world_n be_v because_o he_o have_v that_o glory_n with_o the_o father_n still_o when_o he_o make_v that_o prayer_n he_o be_v coequal_a coessential_a with_o he_o still_o and_o consequent_o he_o be_v infinite_o glorious_a with_o he_o still_o he_o can_v not_o say_v with_o relation_n to_o his_o manhood_n glorify_v i_o with_o the_o glory_n which_o i_o have_v with_o thou_o before_o the_o world_n be_v because_o the_o humane_a nature_n come_v to_o have_v a_o be_v but_o a_o little_a while_n ago_o it_o be_v assume_v by_o our_o saviour_n many_o age_n since_o the_o world_n be_v and_o so_o can_v have_v no_o glory_n with_o the_o father_n before_o the_o world_n be_v so_o that_o it_o can_v be_v intend_v of_o the_o godhead_n or_o the_o manhood_n if_o you_o take_v either_o of_o they_o several_o and_o distinct_o by_o itself_o it_o be_v true_a the_o godhead_n of_o our_o saviour_n seem_v to_o be_v devest_v of_o the_o glory_n which_o it_o have_v from_o everlasting_a when_o he_o assume_v the_o mean_a condition_n of_o a_o servant_n and_o so_o in_o that_o respect_n he_o may_v desire_v the_o restitution_n of_o it_o but_o if_o you_o mark_v it_o well_o the_o godhead_n never_o lose_v the_o glory_n which_o it_o have_v with_o god_n the_o father_n though_o it_o may_v seem_v to_o lose_v the_o glory_n which_o it_o have_v with_o man_n it_o be_v not_o humble_v real_o but_o in_o regard_n of_o declaration_n only_o and_o that_o with_o reference_n to_o man_n and_o not_o to_o god_n who_o be_v not_o carry_v by_o appearance_n and_o that_o which_o christ_n desire_v be_v that_o his_o father_n will_v glorify_v he_o with_o himself_o with_o the_o same_o glory_n which_o he_o have_v with_o he_o before_o the_o world_n be_v beside_o our_o saviour_n pray_v as_o man_n and_o not_o as_o god_n for_o god_n do_v not_o worship_n god_n and_o it_o be_v incongruous_a that_o the_o manhood_n shall_v become_v a_o suitor_n for_o any_o thing_n to_o be_v confer_v upon_o the_o godhead_n and_o therefore_o to_o avoid_v the_o rock_n on_o either_o side_n the_o sum_n of_o this_o petition_n of_o our_o saviour_n to_o his_o father_n must_v be_v this_o that_o as_o his_o godhead_n have_v be_v glorious_a with_o himself_o from_o everlasting_a so_o now_o his_o manhood_n may_v be_v glorious_a too_o that_o the_o glory_n which_o he_o have_v as_o god_n together_o with_o the_o father_n from_o eternity_n may_v be_v communicate_v to_o his_o manhood_n so_o far_o as_o it_o be_v capable_a of_o it_o in_o such_o a_o measure_n as_o it_o can_v receive_v it_o that_o god_n will_v raise_v he_o up_o and_o set_v he_o in_o his_o humane_a nature_n at_o his_o own_o right_a hand_n in_o heavenly_a place_n and_o make_v he_o glorious_a even_o as_o he_o be_v man_n in_o the_o eye_n of_o all_o the_o world_n and_o this_o be_v clear_o that_o which_o christ_n intend_v in_o his_o prayer_n here_o and_o now_o o_o father_n glorify_v i_o with_o thy_o own_o self_n with_o the_o glory_n which_o i_o have_v with_o thou_o before_o the_o world_n be_v glorify_v i_o with_o thyself_o as_o i_o be_o man_n or_o as_o i_o be_o god-man_n with_o the_o glory_n i_o have_v with_o thou_o as_o i_o be_o god_n before_o the_o world_n be_v i_o be_v glorious_a with_o thyself_o as_o i_o be_o god_n from_o everlasting_a and_o now_o let_v i_o be_v glorious_a with_o thou_o as_o i_o be_o god_n and_o man_n too_o in_o one_o nature_n i_o be_v glorious_a from_o eternity_n viz._n in_o my_o divine_a nature_n and_o now_o let_v i_o be_v glorify_v in_o my_o divine_a and_o humane_a nature_n too_o let_v i_o be_v glorify_v in_o my_o person_n now_o this_o petition_n of_o our_o saviour_n you_o must_v consider_v do_v undoubted_o prevail_v with_o god_n the_o father_n for_o he_o be_v always_o hear_v in_o every_o thing_n that_o he_o desire_v of_o he_o his_o father_n never_o put_v he_o off_o with_o a_o denial_n and_o then_o the_o point_n to_o be_v observe_v be_v this_o doctrine_n that_o even_o the_o manhood_n of_o our_o saviour_n participate_v of_o the_o glory_n whereof_o the_o godhead_n have_v be_v seize_v together_o with_o the_o father_n from_o eternity_n jesus_n christ_n as_o he_o be_v man_n share_n in_o some_o measure_n and_o proportion_n in_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o godhead_n there_o be_v a_o social_a glory_n as_o the_o schoolman_n call_v it_o of_o our_o saviour_n humane_a nature_n which_o it_o partake_v with_o the_o godhead_n and_o which_o it_o can_v not_o have_v without_o it_o the_o glory_n which_o the_o godhead_n have_v alone_o from_o everlasting_a the_o eye_n of_o other_o god_n do_v not_o so_o with_o jesus_n christ_n and_o therefore_o as_o he_o make_v he_o king_n and_o priest_n and_o prophet_n so_o he_o enable_v he_o to_o the_o performance_n and_o execution_n of_o these_o office_n as_o he_o appoint_v he_o to_o they_o so_o he_o anoints_z h_z m_z with_o gift_n and_o grace_n and_o ability_n that_o he_o may_v go_v through_o with_o they_o of_o man_n to_o suffer_v any_o thing_n for_o christ_n if_o cross_n and_o affliction_n and_o persecution_n come_v upon_o they_o for_o his_o sake_n how_o do_v they_o murmur_v and_o repine_v ah_o my_o with_o it_o as_o if_o it_o be_v already_o perfect_a and_o consummate_v other_o conceive_v our_o saviour_n meaning_n to_o be_v only_o this_o i_o have_v finish_v the_o work_n viz._n in_o purpose_n and_o in_o preparation_n in_o that_o i_o have_v lay_v the_o groundwork_n and_o foundation_n of_o it_o i_o have_v assume_v the_o humane_a nature_n i_o have_v preach_v the_o gospel_n free_o i_o have_v by_o my_o reproof_n and_o miracle_n and_o many_o other_o way_n sufficient_o exasperate_v and_o enrage_v the_o jew_n to_o crucify_v i_o and_o so_o to_o make_v a_o end_n of_o this_o business_n and_o consequent_o i_o have_v do_v as_o much_o as_o lie_v in_o i_o to_o finish_v it_o and_o to_o bring_v it_o to_o perfection_n the_o plain_a and_o most_o genuine_a exposition_n as_o it_o show_v to_o i_o be_v that_o of_o calvin_n which_o beza_n and_o some_o other_o after_o he_o have_v rest_v in_o and_o it_o be_v to_o this_o purpose_n i_o have_v finish_v the_o work_n that_o be_v as_o if_o our_o one_o in_o god_n by_o love_n he_o will_v have_v their_o heart_n to_o live_v in_o his_o father_n and_o himself_o by_o unexpressible_a and_o choice_a affection_n that_o they_o shall_v find_v no_o rest_n no_o quiet_a anywhere_o but_o in_o god_n and_o christ_n only_o to_o be_v so_o close_o and_o indissoluble_o join_v to_o the_o father_n and_o himself_o that_o nothing_o in_o the_o world_n shall_v be_v able_a to_o divide_v they_o to_o separate_v they_o from_o the_o love_n
thus_o of_o the_o first_o argument_n with_o which_o our_o saviour_n prosecute_v his_o suit_n to_o god_n the_o father_n that_o his_o disciple_n may_v be_v all_o one_o which_o have_v be_v take_v from_o he_o aim_v in_o glorify_v his_o disciple_n in_o give_v they_o the_o glory_n which_o he_o have_v receive_v from_o god_n the_o father_n and_o this_o be_v that_o they_o may_v be_v one_o and_o the_o glory_n which_o thou_o give_v i_o i_o have_v give_v they_o that_o they_o may_v be_v one_o even_o as_o we_o be_v one_o q._n d._n since_o i_o have_v glorify_v they_o so_o much_o as_o i_o have_v do_v i_o i_o have_v give_v they_o and_o second_o the_o end_n of_o this_o communication_n that_o they_o may_v be_v one_o even_o as_o we_o be_v one_o at_o this_o time_n i_o shall_v make_v a_o little_a entrance_n on_o the_o first_o of_o these_o and_o that_o be_v christ_n communication_n of_o the_o glory_n which_o he_o receive_v from_o the_o father_n to_o believer_n the_o glory_n which_o thou_o give_v i_o i_o have_v give_v they_o if_o there_o be_v any_o question_n what_o glory_n be_v intend_v by_o our_o saviour_n here_o whither_o that_o which_o he_o as_o god_n enjoy_v together_o with_o the_o father_n from_o eternity_n or_o that_o which_o he_o as_o man_n and_o mediator_n of_o the_o church_n receive_v from_o the_o father_n it_o be_v apparent_o resolve_v in_o the_o word_n themselves_o the_o glory_n which_o thou_o give_v i_o christ_n have_v no_o glory_n give_v he_o as_o he_o be_v god_n but_o as_o he_o be_v man_n and_o mediator_n he_o have_v much_o bestow_v upon_o he_o by_o the_o father_n now_o that_o which_o he_o receive_v as_o man_n he_o communicate_v to_o man_n he_o give_v it_o out_o again_o in_o some_o sense_n and_o in_o some_o degree_n to_o true_a believer_n to_o all_o the_o live_a member_n of_o his_o body_n as_o he_o affirm_v here_o express_o the_o glory_n which_o thou_o give_v i_o i_o have_v give_v they_o they_o who_o why_o they_o that_o believe_v on_o i_o as_o you_o shall_v easy_o discern_v if_o you_o observe_v the_o series_n of_o the_o text_n neither_o pray_v i_o for_o those_o only_a but_o etc._n etc._n that_o they_o may_v all_o be_v one_o etc._n etc._n and_o the_o glory_n which_o thou_o give_v i_o i_o have_v give_v they_o so_o that_o we_o have_v two_o observation_n clear_o point_v at_o in_o these_o word_n first_o god_n the_o father_n have_v bestow_v much_o glory_n on_o the_o son_n as_o he_o be_v man_n and_o mediator_n of_o the_o church_n second_o the_o self_n same_o glory_n which_o the_o son_n as_o man_n receive_v from_o god_n the_o father_n he_o communicate_v again_o and_o give_v it_o out_o in_o a_o sort_n to_o all_o believer_n doctrine_n 1._o god_n the_o father_n have_v bestow_v much_o glory_n on_o the_o son_n as_o he_o be_v man_n and_o mediator_n of_o the_o church_n you_o see_v he_o have_v the_o son_n receipt_n to_o show_v for_o it_o the_o glory_n which_o thou_o have_v give_v i_o say_v christ_n it_o be_v his_o own_o acknowledgement_n in_o write_v here_o that_o he_o have_v glory_n give_v he_o by_o god_n the_o father_n indeed_o my_o brethren_n god_n the_o father_n have_v honour_v jesus_n christ_n exceed_o heb._n 1._o per_fw-mi tot_fw-mi for_o that_o be_v the_o intention_n of_o the_o whole_a chapter_n as_o i_o have_v show_v you_o large_o on_o the_o first_o verse_n to_o which_o i_o shall_v refer_v you_o for_o god_n the_o father_n he_o communicate_v again_o and_o give_v it_o out_o in_o a_o sort_n to_o true_a believer_n that_o which_o he_o receive_v as_o man_n he_o communicate_v to_o man_n as_o he_o partake_v it_o in_o the_o humane_a nature_n so_o to_o the_o humane_a nature_n he_o dispense_v it_o again_o to_o all_o the_o member_n of_o his_o body_n this_o be_v the_o thing_n which_o he_o affirm_v express_o to_o his_o father_n in_o my_o text_n the_o glory_n which_o thou_o have_v give_v i_o i_o have_v give_v they_o q._n d._n as_o thou_o give_v it_o i_o for_o they_o so_o i_o have_v give_v it_o to_o they_o i_o have_v not_o keep_v it_o in_o my_o own_o hand_n but_o have_v as_o free_o part_v with_o it_o as_o i_o do_v receive_v it_o i_o have_v be_v true_a to_o thou_o and_o they_o in_o this_o business_n now_o for_o the_o through_o clear_n of_o the_o point_n i_o shall_v review_v the_o glory_n which_o god_n the_o father_n have_v bestow_v upon_o the_o son_n as_o man_n and_o mediator_n of_o the_o church_n and_o that_o in_o all_o part_n and_o branch_n of_o it_o and_o then_o proceed_v to_o show_v you_o particular_o and_o distinct_o that_o this_o very_a glory_n in_o all_o the_o part_n and_o branch_n of_o it_o christ_n have_v dispense_v again_o in_o some_o degree_n to_o true_a believer_n and_o when_o i_o have_v do_v this_o i_o hope_v it_o will_v be_v evident_a that_o the_o self_n same_o glory_n etc._n etc._n then_o the_o son_n as_o man_n receive_v most_o honourable_a title_n from_o the_o father_n as_o i_o have_v show_v you_o former_o at_o large_a he_o call_v he_o king_n he_o call_v he_o lord._n yea_o not_o lord_n adonai_n alone_o but_o lord_n jehovah_n which_o be_v indeed_o the_o high_a and_o most_o glorious_a title_n that_o belong_v to_o god_n himself_o but_o do_v christ_n make_v these_o title_n over_o now_o to_o true_a believer_n yes_o my_o belove_a all_o of_o they_o without_o exception_n as_o god_n make_v he_o a_o prince_n so_o he_o make_v they_o prince_n and_o as_o god_n make_v he_o a_o king_n so_o he_o make_v they_o king_n as_o the_o church_n acknowledge_v apoc._n 1.6_o he_o have_v make_v we_o king_n to_o god_n as_o god_n call_v he_o jehovah_n so_o he_o call_v the_o church_n jehovah_n at_o least_o she_o be_v so_o call_v by_o his_o mean_n by_o reason_n of_o her_o union_n with_o he_o for_o even_o as_o jer._n 23.6_o it_o be_v say_v of_o jesus_n christ_n this_o give_v it_o to_o the_o church_n he_o do_v not_o give_v it_o to_o another_o neither_o she_o be_v so_o near_o he_o that_o he_o will_v have_v she_o one_o way_n or_o other_o to_o partake_v with_o he_o in_o this_o high_a glory_n the_o son_n as_o man_n receive_v much_o glory_n from_o the_o father_n as_o in_o the_o title_n which_o he_o give_v the_o son_n so_o in_o the_o title_n which_o himself_o assume_v in_o relation_n to_o the_o son_n in_o the_o new_a testament_n as_o i_o have_v show_v you_o he_o call_v himself_o no_o more_o the_o god_n of_o abraham_n and_o the_o god_n of_o isaac_n and_o the_o father_n of_o israel_n but_o the_o god_n and_o father_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n he_o call_v himself_o no_o more_o the_o lord_n their_o god_n that_o bring_v they_o out_o of_o land_n of_o egypt_n but_o the_o god_n that_o bring_v again_o from_o the_o dead_a the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n now_o
believe_v for_o the_o present_a or_o shall_v believe_v in_o after_o time_n if_o he_o have_v say_v i_o be_o in_o they_o and_o thou_o in_o i_o exclusive_o this_o will_v not_o have_v be_v proper_o apply_v to_o they_o which_o have_v believe_v in_o former_a time_n suppose_v that_o i_o be_o exclude_v i_o have_v be_v or_o shall_v believe_v in_o after_o time_n if_o he_o have_v say_v i_o shall_v he_o it_o down_o he_o have_v seem_v to_o exclude_v past_a believer_n or_o present_a believer_n or_o future_a believer_n which_o he_o have_v no_o intent_n to_o do_v and_o therefore_o he_o do_v purpo_n ely_z express_v it_o so_o as_o i_o conceive_v that_o he_o may_v take_v in_o all_o of_o they_o without_o exception_n i_o in_o they_o and_o thou_o in_o i_o to_o which_o you_o may_v add_v have_v be_v be_v and_o shall_v be_v i_o have_v be_v in_o they_o that_o do_v believe_v i_o be_o in_o they_o that_o do_v believe_v and_o i_o will_v be_v in_o they_o that_o shall_v believe_v that_o so_o they_o may_v be_v all_o of_o they_o by_o this_o mean_n close_o link_v together_o one_o special_a end_n of_o my_o inhabitation_n in_o believer_n past_a present_a and_o to_o come_v of_o this_o inhabitation_n in_o myself_o the_o mediator_n between_o thou_o and_o they_o be_v this_o that_o they_o may_v all_o be_v one_o yea_o that_o they_o may_v be_v perfect_a in_o one_o &_o therefore_o i_o beseech_v thou_o father_n let_v we_o have_v our_o end_n in_o this_o business_n for_o explication_n of_o the_o word_n we_o have_v three_o thing_n to_o be_v inquire_v and_o resolve_v first_o how_o christ_n as_o mediator_n be_v in_o true_a believer_n second_o how_o god_n the_o father_n be_v in_o christ_n as_o mediator_n three_o how_o the_o mediator_n be_v in_o believer_n and_o god_n the_o father_n be_v in_o the_o mediator_n do_v serve_v to_o this_o great_a end_n whereof_o our_o saviour_n speak_v viz._n to_o make_v believer_n one_o yea_o to_o make_v they_o perfect_a in_o one_o i_o in_o they_o and_o thou_o in_o i_o that_o they_o may_v be_v make_v perfect_a in_o one_o i_o shall_v be_v brief_a upon_o the_o former_a two_o because_o they_o be_v more_o easy_a to_o be_v apprehend_v and_o the_o three_o indeed_o be_v the_o main_a thing_n in_o the_o text._n as_o for_o the_o first_o of_o these_o how_o christ_n as_o mediator_n be_v in_o true_a believer_n i_o suppose_v you_o be_v not_o to_o seek_v of_o this_o he_o be_v in_o true_a believer_n by_o his_o spirit_n and_o that_o not_o by_o the_o essence_n of_o the_o spirit_n for_o so_o he_o be_v no_o more_o in_o one_o man_n then_o another_o but_o by_o the_o operation_n and_o effect_n that_o be_v the_o gift_n and_o grace_n of_o the_o spirit_n and_o especial_o by_o faith_n which_o be_v the_o grace_n that_o give_v they_o the_o denomination_n of_o believer_n and_o therefore_o christ_n be_v say_v express_o to_o dwell_v in_o the_o heart_n by_o faith_n eph._n 3.17_o as_o for_o the_o second_o thing_n propose_v how_o god_n the_o father_n be_v in_o christ_n as_o mediator_n for_o clear_v this_o you_o must_v remember_v that_o which_o have_v be_v often_o hint_v that_o god_n the_o father_n all_o along_o this_o prayer_n of_o our_o saviour_n be_v take_v for_o the_o whole_a godhead_n now_o in_o our_o saviour_n humane_a nature_n the_o whole_a godhead_n dwell_v as_o the_o apostle_n show_v col._n 2.9_o in_o he_o dwell_v all_o the_o fullness_n of_o of_o grace_n and_o therefore_o the_o apostle_n say_v not_o that_o in_o christ_n dwell_v 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d that_o be_v the_o divinity_n but_o 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d that_o be_v the_o godhead_n and_o that_o the_o fullness_n all_o the_o fullness_n of_o it_o in_o he_o dwell_v all_o the_o fullness_n of_o the_o godhead_n bodily_a because_o it_o be_v indeed_o and_o real_o unite_v to_o the_o humane_a nature_n to_o the_o body_n of_o christ_n jesus_n as_o i_o have_v somewhere_o note_v heretofore_o you_o see_v how_o christ_n be_v in_o believer_n and_o how_o god_n be_v in_o christ_n now_o for_o the_o three_o and_o last_o particular_a propose_v how_o their_o be_v each_o in_o other_o do_v serve_v to_o this_o end_n mention_v in_o my_o text_n viz._n to_o make_v believer_n one_o yea_o to_o make_v they_o perfect_a in_o one_o i_o in_o they_o and_o thou_o in_o i_o that_o they_o may_v be_v perfect_a in_o one_o this_o will_v need_v a_o little_o further_a explication_n that_o christ_n be_v in_o believer_n by_o his_o spirit_n to_o this_o end_n that_o they_o may_v be_v one_o among_o themselves_o and_o with_o the_o father_n and_o the_o son_n be_v very_o manifest_a in_o scripture_n but_o be_v god_n in_o jesus_n christ_n to_o this_o end_n yes_o my_o belove_a to_o this_o end_n god_n have_v never_o be_v in_o christ_n as_o mediator_n but_o that_o believer_n may_v be_v join_v to_o himself_o in_o and_o by_o and_o through_o christ_n true_o my_o belove_a the_o father_n have_v be_v in_o the_o son_n as_o god_n however_o so_o he_o be_v from_o everlasting_a but_o god_n have_v never_o be_v in_o christ_n as_o man_n and_o mediator_n but_o for_o effect_v this_o union_n so_o that_o as_o the_o apostle_n say_v god_n be_v in_o christ_n reconcile_n the_o world_n the_o world_n of_o believer_n so_o i_o may_v say_v as_o well_o god_n be_v in_o christ_n unite_n the_o world_n the_o same_o world_n of_o believer_n to_o himself_o original_o they_o be_v disjoint_v and_o divide_v each_o from_o other_o and_o which_o be_v worst_a of_o all_o from_o god_n but_o down_o come_v christ_n and_o dwell_v in_o all_o of_o they_o together_o and_o down_o come_v god_n and_o dwell_v in_o christ_n that_o so_o they_o may_v be_v all_o one_o i_o in_o they_o and_o thou_o in_o i_o that_o they_o may_v be_v perfect_a in_o one_o not_o only_o that_o they_o may_v be_v one_o but_o that_o they_o may_v be_v perfect_a in_o one_o what_o do_v our_o saviour_n mean_v by_o that_o expression_n that_o they_o may_v be_v perfect_a in_o one_o true_o nothing_o else_o but_o this_o as_o i_o conceive_v that_o they_o may_v so_o be_v one_o that_o there_o may_v be_v a_o perfect_a union_n there_o be_v a_o twofold_a perfection_n a_o perfection_n of_o part_n and_o a_o perfection_n of_o degree_n the_o first_o of_o these_o be_v special_o intend_v here_o that_o there_o may_v be_v a_o perfect_a union_n in_o regard_n of_o part_n that_o be_v that_o all_o the_o part_n that_o shall_v be_v join_v may_v be_v join_v together_o therefore_o be_o i_o in_o all_o of_o they_o say_v christ_n here_o and_o thou_o in_o i_o that_o be_o in_o all_o of_o they_o i_o in_o they_o and_o thou_o in_o i_o that_o they_o may_v be_v perfect_a in_o one_o that_o there_o may_v be_v such_o a_o union_n to_o which_o no_o part_n that_o shall_v be_v join_v be_v want_v so_o that_o there_o can_v be_v nothing_o add_v to_o it_o in_o regard_n be_o in_o they_o that_o do_v believe_v and_o i_o will_v be_v in_o they_o that_o shall_v believe_v to_o the_o end_n of_o the_o world_n and_o thou_o in_o i_o thou_o have_v be_v art_n and_o will_v be_v still_o in_o i_o that_o they_o may_v be_v perfect_a in_o one_o that_o they_o may_v be_v so_o one_o that_o there_o may_v be_v a_o perfect_a union_n you_o see_v the_o meaning_n of_o the_o word_n as_o far_o as_o i_o have_v attain_v there_o may_v be_v many_o thing_n observe_v which_o have_v be_v divers_a time_n insist_v on_o from_o other_o place_n the_o doctrine_n proper_a to_o the_o text_n be_v this_o doctrine_n that_o the_o perfection_n of_o believer_n union_n stand_v in_o this_o that_o
wish_v to_o true_a believer_n then_o to_o be_v with_o christ_n in_o heaven_n to_o be_v in_o heaven_n where_o they_o shall_v be_v absolute_o and_o complete_o holy_a and_o happy_a where_o they_o shall_v never_o sin_v and_o where_o they_o shall_v never_o suffer_v any_o more_o where_o holiness_n and_o happiness_n shall_v be_v both_o perfect_a where_o there_o be_v fullness_n of_o joy_n and_o pleasure_n for_o evermore_o and_o to_o be_v with_o christ_n there_o of_o who_o immediate_a prefence_n true_a believer_n be_v inavoidable_o debar_v as_o long_o as_o they_o remain_v in_o this_o world_n while_o they_o be_v at_o home_n in_o the_o body_n they_o be_v absent_a from_o the_o lord_n as_o 2_o cor._n 5.6_o but_o when_o they_o come_v to_o heaven_n they_o shall_v be_v with_o he_o they_o shall_v have_v the_o complete_a and_o full_a fruition_n and_o enjoyment_n of_o he_o which_o be_v the_o great_a happiness_n that_o can_v be_v to_o be_v with_o christ_n be_v best_a of_o all_o 1_o phil._n 23._o to_o be_v with_o saint_n on_o earth_n be_v good_a though_o they_o be_v imperfect_a here_o and_o though_o by_o reason_n of_o their_o imperfection_n they_o be_v the_o less_o delightful_a and_o the_o less_o christ_n will_v have_v his_o people_n to_o enjoy_v it_o to_o be_v in_o heaven_n where_o himself_o be_v because_o he_o love_v they_o with_o a_o love_n of_o benevolence_n 2._o jesus_n christ_n will_v have_v his_o people_n to_o be_v in_o heaven_n where_o himself_o be_v because_o he_o love_v they_o with_o a_o love_n of_o complacency_n because_o he_o take_v delight_n in_o they_o and_o friend_n that_o delight_v in_o one_o another_o think_v it_o not_o sufficient_a to_o be_v present_a each_o with_o other_o by_o the_o presence_n of_o their_o heart_n and_o spirit_n no_o if_o it_o be_v possible_a they_o will_v be_v present_a each_o with_o other_o in_o their_o body_n too_o as_o you_o may_v see_v in_o jonathan_n and_o david_n what_o shift_v they_o make_v to_o come_v together_o so_o jesus_n christ_n who_o love_v his_o people_n out_o of_o measure_n be_v not_o content_a that_o he_o be_v with_o they_o in_o his_o spirit_n and_o that_o they_o be_v again_o with_o he_o in_o their_o spirit_n no_o this_o be_v not_o enough_o but_o he_o must_v have_v their_o body_n with_o he_o too_o he_o must_v enjoy_v their_o company_n in_o heaven_n or_o else_o it_o be_v not_o well_o there_o christ_n be_v not_o full_o believer_n say_v this_o be_v my_o head_n my_o husband_n who_o my_o soul_n love_v that_o be_v become_v so_o out_o of_o measure_n glorious_a there_o be_v a_o time_n when_o he_o be_v black_a and_o when_o there_o be_v no_o form_n nor_o beauty_n in_o he_o when_o wretched_a man_n make_v he_o vile_a and_o ignominious_a and_o when_o they_o hide_v their_o face_n as_o if_o they_o be_v ashamed_a of_o he_o but_o now_o he_o shine_v forth_o as_o the_o sun_n that_o have_v be_v mask_v with_o a_o gloomy_a cloud_n this_o be_v he_o that_o die_v for_o i_o that_o shed_v his_o blood_n for_o i_o that_o love_v i_o and_o give_v himself_o for_o i_o oh_o how_o my_o heart_n be_v ravish_v to_o behold_v his_o glory_n 2._o while_o they_o behold_v it_o as_o they_o shall_v rejoice_v in_o it_o so_o they_o shall_v glory_n of_o the_o member_n second_o and_o as_o they_o shall_v partake_v hereof_o by_o union_n so_o also_o by_o reflection_n when_o they_o see_v christ_n while_o they_o behold_v the_o glory_n of_o the_o lord_n they_o shall_v be_v transform_v into_o the_o same_o image_n from_o glory_n to_o glory_n their_o vile_a body_n shall_v be_v conform_v to_o his_o glorious_a body_n phil._n 3.21_o and_o while_o they_o see_v he_o as_o he_o be_v they_o shall_v be_v like_o he_o as_o the_o apostle_n john_n insinuate_v 1_o epist_n 3.2_o they_o shall_v bear_v the_o very_a image_n of_o the_o heavenly_a christ_n will_v have_v his_o people_n to_o be_v with_o he_o that_o they_o may_v see_v his_o glory_n and_o see_v may_v partake_v of_o it_o both_o by_o union_n and_o reflection_n use_v now_o to_o descend_v to_o application_n be_v it_o the_o will_n of_o christ_n etc._n etc._n here_o than_o you_o see_v the_o singular_a and_o extraordinary_a happiness_n of_o christ_n people_n if_o they_o be_v always_o to_o remain_v to_o set_v up_o their_o perpetual_a abode_n in_o this_o world_n it_o will_v be_v very_o sad_a with_o they_o it_o be_v a_o vale_n of_o tear_n a_o most_o uncomfortable_a place_n especial_o to_o christ_n people_n in_o which_o they_o be_v not_o like_a to_o have_v a_o quiet_a hour_n almost_o as_o long_o as_o they_o remain_v in_o it_o but_o now_o the_o comfort_n be_v that_o it_o be_v the_o will_n of_o christ_n that_o they_o that_o be_v bestow_v upon_o he_o by_o his_o father_n shall_v not_o always_o stay_v here_o that_o he_o will_v have_v they_o come_v to_o heaven_n where_o himself_o be_v that_o he_o will_v not_o always_o leave_v they_o in_o this_o vale_n of_o tear_n but_o he_o will_v one_o day_n bring_v they_o to_o a_o place_n of_o joy_n there_o to_o enjoy_v himself_o for_o ever_o to_o keep_v no_o long_o at_o a_o distance_n from_o he_o but_o to_o be_v with_o he_o where_o he_o be_v to_o be_v with_o christ_n in_o any_o
in_o paradise_n no_o we_o be_v branch_n of_o such_o a_o vine_n as_o never_o wither_v &_o we_o be_v member_n of_o such_o a_o head_n as_o never_o die_v so_o that_o undoubted_o the_o life_n of_o jesus_n in_o we_o although_o it_o be_v not_o privilege_v from_o abatement_n and_o temptation_n yet_o it_o have_v nothing_o in_o it_o that_o tend_v to_o utter_v dissolution_n second_o the_o life_n which_o jesus_n christ_n bestow_v upon_o his_o people_n as_o it_o have_v no_o inward_a principle_n of_o dissolution_n in_o itself_o so_o neither_o be_v there_o any_o outward_a force_n that_o can_v prevail_v one_o side_n with_o threat_n and_o bloody_a persecution_n on_o the_o other_o but_o this_o we_o may_v rely_v upon_o the_o world_n shall_v never_o overcome_v we_o for_o christ_n have_v overcome_v the_o world_n and_o we_o must_v know_v that_o christ_n have_v overcome_v the_o world_n not_o for_o himself_o alone_o but_o for_o his_o member_n and_o as_o he_o overcome_v it_o for_o we_o so_o he_o do_v overcome_v it_o in_o we_o too_o by_o his_o grace_n as_o the_o apostle_n intimate_v 1_o john_n 5.5_o this_o be_v the_o victory_n that_o overcome_v the_o world_n even_o your_o faith_n the_o devil_n be_v a_o far_o more_o subtle_a and_o pernicious_a adversary_n than_o the_o world_n but_o yet_o he_o can_v overthrow_v this_o life_n of_o grace_n in_o any_o of_o the_o saint_n the_o gate_n of_o hell_n can_v enemy_n and_o a_o mortal_a enemy_n either_o that_o must_v die_v or_o we_o as_o the_o apostle_n paul_n insinuate_v rom._n 8.13_o but_o here_o be_v our_o comfort_n now_o the_o the_o flesh_n shall_v die_v and_o we_o shall_v live_v christ_n will_v destroy_v the_o flesh_n in_o we_o and_o he_o will_v put_v the_o spirit_n into_o we_o and_o maintain_v the_o spirit_n in_o we_o and_o by_o this_o the_o root_n and_o how_o be_v they_o twice_o dead_a they_o be_v not_o dead_a at_o all_o in_o regard_n of_o their_o outward_a and_o natural_a life_n for_o they_o be_v then_o alive_a and_o work_a mischief_n in_o the_o church_n and_o therefore_o out_o of_o question_n his_o intention_n must_v be_v this_o first_o they_o be_v dead_a in_o trespass_n and_o sin_n then_o for_o a_o while_n in_o some_o respect_n or_o sense_n they_o live_v the_o life_n of_o grace_n and_o afterward_o they_o die_v again_o and_o so_o they_o be_v twice_o dead_a and_o how_o then_o be_v the_o doctrine_n true_a the_o life_n or_o else_o in_o show_n and_o appearance_n only_o the_o church_n of_o sardis_n live_v in_o show_n she_o have_v a_o name_n answ_n our_o saviour_n tell_v she_o that_o she_o be_v alive_a but_o she_o be_v dead_a rev._n 3.1_o there_o be_v but_o a_o name_n of_o life_n she_o have_v a_o name_n that_o she_o do_v live_v but_o there_o be_v the_o reality_n of_o death_n she_o be_v dead_a now_o they_o that_o live_v in_o name_n only_o who_o have_v the_o show_n and_o the_o appearance_n of_o the_o life_n of_o christ_n may_v die_v in_o show_n and_o in_o appearance_n too_o and_o therefore_o the_o apostle_n speak_v according_a to_o the_o common_a apprehension_n and_o conceit_n of_o man_n say_v they_o be_v twice_o dead_a once_o indeed_o and_o real_o before_o they_o give_v so_o much_o as_o any_o outward_a evidence_n of_o life_n and_o then_o again_o in_o show_n and_o in_o appearance_n when_o they_o lose_v that_o life_n of_o grace_n which_o both_o to_o other_o and_o themselves_o they_o seem_v to_o enjoy_v now_o be_v it_o so_o that_o the_o life_n which_o jesus_n christ_n etc._n etc._n this_o than_o shall_v stay_v use_v 1_o we_o and_o support_v we_o against_o the_o fear_n of_o those_o tentation_n which_o threaten_v we_o with_o the_o destruction_n of_o the_o life_n of_o grace_n it_o be_v a_o great_a affliction_n to_o the_o saint_n sometime_o when_o they_o be_v mighty_o assault_v by_o satan_n and_o their_o own_o corruption_n and_o even_o ready_a to_o be_v overcome_v they_o cry_v out_o with_o relation_n to_o their_o spiritual_a as_o job_n with_o respect_n to_o his_o natural_a life_n what_o be_v my_o strength_n that_o i_o shall_v hope_v what_o grace_n have_v i_o that_o i_o shall_v hold_v out_o against_o such_o violent_a encounter_n as_o these_o be_v how_o shall_v i_o hope_v to_o live_v when_o my_o life_n be_v thus_o assault_v with_o such_o fiery_a dart_n without_o with_o such_o distemper_n noxious_a humour_n and_o such_o lust_n within_o oh_o but_o remember_v my_o belove_a christ_n give_v eternal_a life_n to_o his_o people_n a_o life_n that_o be_v not_o subject_a to_o destruction_n either_o by_o inward_a weakness_n or_o outward_a violence_n if_o ever_o once_o you_o have_v it_o from_o he_o you_o can_v never_o lose_v it_o he_o that_o once_o live_v the_o life_n of_o christ_n can_v never_o die_v death_n have_v no_o more_o dominion_n over_o he_o be_v it_o so_o my_o brethren_n sudden_a and_o let_v we_o sink_v into_o eternal_a death_n but_o to_o make_v out_o after_o the_o life_n of_o jesus_n christ_n the_o life_n of_o grace_n which_o be_v above_o the_o reach_n and_o power_n of_o death_n which_o will_v not_o fail_v we_o but_o endure_v for_o ever_o we_o all_o have_v spark_n of_o immortality_n within_o we_o and_o we_o have_v thought_n aspire_v to_o eternity_n we_o will_v not_o die_v if_o we_o can_v choose_v oh_o let_v we_o labour_v then_o my_o brethren_n for_o the_o life_n of_o grace_n and_o this_o be_v a_o eternal_a life_n the_o life_n of_o nature_n be_v a_o fade_a thing_n it_o may_v be_v go_v upon_o a_o sudden_a and_o it_o be_v a_o sad_a and_o dreadful_a thing_n for_o a_o eternal_a soul_n to_o have_v nothing_o else_o between_o it_o and_o eternal_a woe_n and_o torture_v but_o such_o a_o fickle_a and_o perishable_a life_n which_o the_o next_o minute_n may_v be_v do_v and_o let_v he_o drop_v away_o to_o hell_n for_o ever_o oh_o how_o sudden_o may_v such_o perish_v and_o come_v to_o a_o fearful_a end_n but_o if_o we_o live_v the_o life_n of_o christ_n that_o be_v a_o last_a and_o abide_v life_n and_o though_o the_o natural_a life_n decay_n and_o though_o the_o body_n die_v and_o rot_v and_o turn_v to_o dust_n and_o putrefaction_n yet_o this_o will_v flourish_v and_o grow_v strong_a still_o till_o it_o be_v perfect_v and_o make_v consummate_v in_o the_o life_n of_o glory_n and_o why_o then_o be_v our_o labour_n and_o endeavour_n whole_o spend_v to_o nourish_v and_o maintain_v this_o transitory_a life_n with_o thing_n that_o perish_v in_o the_o use_n which_o yet_o when_o all_o be_v do_v will_v fail_v and_o come_v to_o dissolution_n but_o never_o strive_v for_o the_o attainment_n of_o that_o life_n which_o be_v eternal_a it_o be_v a_o lamentable_a thing_n my_o brethren_n that_o the_o divine_a intention_n of_o eternal_a mind_n shall_v be_v lay_v out_o on_o nothing_o else_o but_o perishable_a thing_n now_o that_o you_o may_v attain_v stranger_n from_o the_o life_n of_o god_n the_o life_n of_o grace_n by_o reason_n of_o the_o ignorance_n and_o darkness_n that_o be_v in_o they_o and_o sure_o if_o we_o ever_o look_v to_o rise_v up_o from_o our_o grave_n of_o sin_n and_o stand_v up_o from_o the_o dead_a we_o must_v have_v light_n from_o jesus_n christ_n as_o the_o apostle_n paul_n insinuate_v eph._n 5.11_o second_o you_o must_v endeavour_v after_o faith_n which_o be_v the_o instrument_n and_o mean_n of_o life_n by_o which_o it_o be_v convey_v from_o christ_n to_o all_o his_o member_n and_o therefore_o we_o shall_v find_v that_o faith_n and_o life_n believe_v and_o live_v be_v join_v together_o the_o one_o as_o the_o fruit_n and_o effect_n of_o the_o other_o whosoever_o live_v and_o believe_v in_o i_o say_v our_o
