feel_v it_o not_o in_o himself_o but_o be_v our_o surety_n for_o sin_n and_o feel_v the_o wrath_n of_o god_n for_o it_o he_o have_v experience_n to_o be_v compassionate_a from_o this_o he_o be_v weary_a to_o pity_v those_o that_o be_v weary_a he_o be_v hungry_a to_o pity_v they_o that_o be_v hungry_a he_o be_v poor_a to_o pity_v those_o that_o be_v so_o he_o be_v misuse_v and_o reproach_v to_o pity_v those_o that_o be_v in_o the_o like_a condition_n you_o can_v name_v nothing_o but_o he_o can_v out_o of_o his_o own_o experience_n be_v merciful_a and_o pitiful_a unto_o come_v in_o and_o james_n and_o john_n they_o can_v not_o bear_v it_o they_o forget_v themselves_o let_v we_o build_v say_v they_o three_o tabernacle_n etc._n etc._n if_o a_o little_a discovery_n of_o his_o glory_n on_o earth_n wrought_v these_o effect_n what_o great_a glory_n be_v it_o then_o that_o he_o have_v in_o heaven_n certain_o it_o be_v beyond_o all_o expression_n in_o this_o glorious_a condition_n that_o christ_n be_v receive_v into_o we_o he_o fulfil_v all_o his_o office_n in_o a_o most_o comfortable_a manner_n he_o be_v a_o glorious_a prophet_n to_o send_v his_o spirit_n now_o to_o teach_v and_o open_v the_o heart_n he_o be_v a_o glorious_a priest_n to_o appear_v before_o god_n in_o the_o holy_a of_o holies_n in_o heaven_n for_o we_o for_o ever_o and_o he_o be_v a_o king_n there_o for_o ever_o from_o thence_o he_o rule_v his_o church_n and_o subdue_v his_o enemy_n so_o that_o though_o he_o accomplish_v and_o fulfil_v those_o bless_a office_n that_o be_v appoint_v he_o in_o the_o state_n of_o humiliation_n on_o earth_n as_o it_o become_v that_o state_n to_o suffer_v for_o we_o yet_o it_o be_v necessary_a that_o he_o shall_v enter_v into_o glory_n to_o manifest_v spirit_n the_o holy-ghost_n send_v from_o above_o till_o he_o ascend_v as_o it_o be_v in_o john_n 7._o 7._o the_o holy-ghost_n be_v not_o give_v because_o christ_n be_v not_o ascend_v to_o apply_v and_o to_o help_v we_o make_v use_n of_o christ_n and_o all_o his_o benefit_n and_o riches_n so_o that_o in_o regard_n of_o the_o manifestation_n of_o christ_n office_n and_o of_o application_n of_o all_o the_o good_a we_o have_v by_o it_o it_o be_v by_o christ_n receive_v up_o in_o glory_n to_o come_v to_o some_o application_n person_n first_o of_o all_o we_o must_v lay_v this_o for_o a_o ground_n and_o foundation_n of_o what_o follow_v that_o christ_n ascend_v as_o a_o public_a person_n he_o must_v not_o be_v consider_v as_o a_o particular_a person_n alone_o by_o himself_o but_o as_o the_o second_o adam_n as_o he_o take_v the_o nature_n of_o man_n in_o his_o incarnation_n so_o he_o ascend_v into_o heaven_n in_o it_o as_o a_o public_a person_n as_o the_o first_o adam_n be_v in_o who_o we_o all_o sin_v and_o all_o come_v to_o misery_n and_o baseness_n and_o die_v so_o christ_n must_v be_v consider_v as_o the_o second_o adam_n as_o in_o other_o thing_n so_o in_o his_o ascension_n to_o glory_n church_n in_o the_o second_o place_n we_o must_v know_v that_o there_o be_v a_o wondrous_a nearness_n between_o christ_n and_o we_o now_o for_o before_o we_o can_v think_v of_o any_o comfort_n by_o the_o glory_n of_o christ_n we_o must_v be_v one_o with_o he_o by_o faith_n for_o he_o be_v the_o saviour_n of_o his_o body_n therefore_o we_o must_v be_v in_o he_o we_o must_v be_v his_o member_n we_o must_v be_v his_o spouse_n and_o be_v so_o once_o we_o be_v one_o with_o christ._n there_o be_v no_o relation_n in_o the_o world_n that_o be_v able_a to_o express_v the_o nearness_n between_o christ_n and_o we_o sufficient_o and_o therefore_o when_o we_o speak_v of_o christ_n ascend_v into_o glory_n we_o must_v needs_o think_v of_o ourselves_o &_o of_o our_o to_o take_v up_o heaven_n for_o his_o wife_n as_o a_o husband_n take_v up_o land_n in_o another_o country_n for_o his_o spouse_n though_o she_o be_v not_o there_o christ_n have_v take_v up_o heaven_n for_o we_o i_o go_v before_o to_o prepare_v a_o place_n for_o you_o so_o likewise_o he_o be_v in_o heaven_n as_o a_o glorious_a head_n minister_a virtue_n and_o comfort_n and_o strength_n to_o all_o he_o all_o our_o power_n and_o strength_n it_o come_v from_o christ_n now_o as_o our_o head_n in_o heaven_n again_o we_o there_o be_v a_o causality_n the_o force_n of_o a_o cause_n in_o this_o because_o christ_n therefore_o we_o here_o be_v not_o only_o a_o priority_n of_o order_n but_o a_o cause_n likewise_o and_o there_o be_v great_a reason_n be_v there_o the_o force_n of_o a_o cause_n in_o adam_n that_o be_v but_o mere_a man_n to_o convey_v sin_n and_o misery_n and_o the_o displeasure_n of_o god_n to_o all_o that_o be_v bear_v and_o descend_v of_o he_o and_o be_v there_o not_o the_o force_n of_o a_o cause_n in_o the_o second_o adam_n to_o convey_v grace_n and_o glory_n to_o he_o he_o be_v god_n &_o man_n therefore_o whatsoever_o be_v good_a it_o be_v first_o in_o christ_n and_o so_o shall_v we_o we_o must_v be_v conformable_a to_o his_o abasement_n and_o then_o to_o his_o glory_n he_o be_v the_o first_o fruit_n of_o they_o that_o sleep_n 25._o he_o be_v the_o first_o fruit_n we_o succeed_v these_o thing_n be_v premise_v as_o ground_n i_o come_v to_o make_v some_o use_n of_o this_o comfortable_a point_n 1_o christ_n be_v receive_v up_o in_o glory_n therefore_o first_o of_o all_o sacrament_n for_o our_o information_n we_o must_v not_o seek_v he_o in_o a_o wafer-cake_n we_o must_v not_o look_v for_o he_o in_o the_o sacrament_n bodily_a how_o can_v he_o be_v there_o when_o he_o be_v receive_v up_o in_o glory_n therefore_o when_o we_o come_v to_o the_o sacrament_n let_v we_o consider_v we_o have_v now_o to_o deal_v with_o christ_n who_o be_v in_o heaven_n can_v christ_n show_v his_o virtue_n to_o comfort_v and_o strengthen_v we_o but_o we_o must_v have_v his_o body_n in_o the_o communion_n to_o touch_v our_o body_n simile_n the_o foot_n have_v influence_n from_o the_o head_n yet_o the_o head_n be_v distant_a from_o it_o in_o place_n the_o utmost_a branch_n have_v life_n and_o sap_n from_o the_o root_n yet_o they_o be_v remote_a in_o respect_n of_o place_n a_o king_n spread_v his_o influence_n over_o his_o whole_a kingdom_n though_o it_o be_v never_o so_o large_a yet_o he_o be_v but_o in_o one_o place_n in_o respect_n of_o his_o person_n do_v the_o sun_n in_o the_o heaven_n come_v down_o to_o the_o earth_n to_o make_v the_o spring_n and_o to_o make_v all_o fruitful_a can_v he_o send_v beam_n and_o influence_n from_o thence_o to_o cherish_v the_o earth_n must_v christ_n come_v down_o in_o his_o body_n to_o we_o or_o else_o he_o can_v do_v we_o no_o good_a must_v there_o be_v a_o corporeal_a descent_n or_o else_o we_o can_v receive_v no_o influence_n from_o he_o there_o may_v be_v a_o derivation_n of_o virtue_n from_o christ_n though_o his_o person_n be_v in_o heaven_n where_o he_o shall_v remain_v till_o the_o last_o day_n when_o he_o shall_v come_v to_o be_v glorious_a in_o his_o saint_n the_o sun_n do_v more_o good_a be_v in_o heaven_n
and_o certain_o if_o trouble_v come_v we_o shall_v many_o of_o we_o be_v better_o than_o we_o be_v now_o affliction_n will_v be_v so_o far_o from_o do_v we_o harm_n that_o they_o will_v refine_v we_o we_o shall_v lose_v nothing_o but_o that_o that_o do_v we_o hurt_v that_o that_o we_o may_v well_o spare_v that_o that_o hinder_v our_o joy_n and_o comfort_n but_o affliction_n i_o say_v let_v we_o comfort_v ourselves_o in_o respect_n of_o the_o present_a state_n of_o the_o church_n christ_n rule_v in_o the_o midst_n of_o his_o enemy_n in_o the_o midst_n of_o cross_n and_o persecution_n not_o to_o free_v we_o always_o from_o they_o but_o he_o rule_v in_o turn_v they_o to_o good_a in_o strengthen_v &_o exercise_v our_o grace_n and_o he_o rule_v in_o the_o midst_n of_o his_o church_n at_o this_o time_n by_o turn_v his_o enemy_n cruelty_n to_o the_o good_a of_o the_o elect_a as_o he_o rule_v in_o the_o israelite_n when_o he_o suffer_v pharaoh_n to_o go_v on_o in_o the_o hardness_n of_o his_o heart_n but_o he_o have_v a_o time_n for_o pharaoh_n ruin_n so_o christ_n have_v a_o time_n for_o the_o persecutor_n of_o the_o church_n as_o he_o have_v for_o all_o the_o ten_o persecute_v emperor_n that_o come_v to_o fearful_a and_o base_a end_n be_v there_o ever_o any_o man_n fierce_a against_o god_n and_o prosper_v say_v job._n be_v there_o ever_o any_o that_o set_v themselves_o against_o the_o church_n of_o god_n and_o prosper_v no_o no_o it_o be_v with_o the_o church_n as_o it_o be_v with_o christ_n to_o have_v look_v on_o christ_n hang_v and_o bleed_v on_o the_o cross_n to_o have_v see_v he_o grovel_v on_o the_o ground_n in_o the_o garden_n man_n will_v be_v ready_a to_o take_v offence_n what_o he_o the_o saviour_n of_o the_o world_n but_o stay_v and_o see_v he_o in_o the_o text_n assume_v to_o glory_n and_o then_o there_o will_v be_v no_o offence_n take_v at_o christ._n so_o it_o be_v in_o the_o church_n you_o see_v the_o church_n suffer_v persecution_n but_o lay_v one_o thing_n with_o another_o see_v the_o church_n in_o heaven_n with_o the_o head_n of_o the_o church_n see_v the_o church_n advance_v see_v it_o in_o glory_n ere_o long_o see_v it_o refine_v and_o fit_v by_o suffering_n to_o come_v better_a out_o of_o affliction_n than_o it_o go_v in_o and_o then_o none_o will_v take_v scandal_n at_o the_o affliction_n of_o the_o church_n as_o they_o ought_v not_o at_o the_o abasement_n of_o christ_n for_o though_o he_o be_v god_n manifest_v in_o weak_a flesh_n yet_o we_o see_v he_o ascend_v up_o in_o glory_n 30.7_o there_o be_v a_o comfortable_a speech_n jerem._n 30.7_o it_o be_v even_o the_o time_n of_o jacob_n trouble_n but_o he_o shall_v be_v deliver_v out_o of_o it_o so_o we_o may_v say_v this_o be_v the_o time_n of_o the_o church_n trouble_n but_o the_o church_n shall_v be_v deliver_v out_o of_o it_o the_o enemy_n have_v their_o time_n to_o afflict_v and_o trample_v upon_o the_o church_n but_o christ_n have_v his_o time_n to_o trample_v on_o they_o let_v we_o wait_v and_o expect_v with_o comfort_n better_a time_n the_o kingdom_n of_o the_o world_n will_v be_v know_v to_o be_v the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n there_o will_v be_v a_o further_a subjection_n to_o christ_n kingdom_n than_o ever_o there_o be_v since_o the_o first_o time_n when_o the_o fullness_n of_o the_o gentile_n and_o the_o conversion_n of_o the_o jew_n shall_v be_v let_v we_o comfort_v ourselves_o with_o the_o time_n to_o come_v christ_n be_v in_o glory_n and_o he_o will_v bring_v his_o church_n to_o further_a glory_n even_o in_o this_o world_n riches_n he_o make_v we_o rich_a partly_o by_o imputation_n partly_o by_o infusion_n by_o imputation_n imputation_n his_o righteousness_n and_o obedience_n be_v we_o his_o discharge_n for_o our_o debt_n be_v impute_v to_o we_o and_o likewise_o his_o righteousness_n for_o the_o attain_n of_o heaven_n he_o have_v satisfy_v for_o our_o sin_n god_n be_v reconcile_v to_o we_o and_o thereupon_o we_o
