the_o resolution_n of_o almost_o all_o those_o difficulty_n that_o may_v occur_v in_o this_o and_o many_o other_o like_o question_n and_o that_o be_v this_o it_o be_v a_o condition_n so_o essential_a to_o every_o sin_n to_o be_v voluntary_a that_o all_o other_o circumstance_n and_o respect_n lay_v aside_o every_o sin_n be_v simple_o and_o absolute_o by_o so_o much_o great_a or_o lesser_a by_o how_o much_o it_o be_v more_o or_o less_o voluntary_a for_o whereas_o there_o be_v in_o the_o reasonable_a soul_n three_o prime_a faculty_n from_o whence_o all_o humane_a action_n flow_v the_o understanding_n the_o will_n and_o the_o sensual_a appetite_n or_o affection_n all_o of_o these_o concur_v indeed_o to_o every_o action_n proper_o humane_a yet_o so_o as_o the_o will_n carry_v the_o great_a sway_n and_o be_v therefore_o the_o just_a measure_n of_o the_o moral_a goodness_n or_o badness_n thereof_o in_o any_o of_o the_o three_o there_o may_v be_v a_o fault_n all_o of_o they_o be_v deprave_v in_o the_o state_n of_o corrupt_a nature_n and_o the_o very_a truth_n be_v there_o be_v in_o every_o sin_n every_o complete_a sin_n a_o fault_n in_o every_o of_o the_o three_o and_o therefore_o all_o sin_n by_o reason_n of_o the_o blindness_n of_o the_o understanding_n may_v be_v call_v ignorances_n and_o by_o reason_n of_o the_o impotency_n of_o the_o affection_n infirmity_n and_o by_o reason_n of_o the_o perverseness_n of_o the_o will_n rebellion_n but_o for_o the_o most_o part_n it_o fall_v out_o so_o that_o although_o all_o the_o three_o be_v faulty_a yet_o the_o obliquity_n of_o the_o sinful_a action_n spring_v most_o immediate_o and_o chief_o from_o the_o special_a default_n of_o some_o one_o or_o other_o of_o the_o three_o if_o the_o main_a defect_n be_v in_o the_o understanding_n not_o apprehend_v that_o good_a it_o shall_v or_o not_o aright_o the_o sin_n arise_v from_o such_o defect_n we_o call_v more_o proper_o a_o sin_n of_o ignorance_n if_o the_o main_a defect_n be_v in_o the_o affection_n some_o passion_n blind_a or_o corrupt_v the_o judgement_n the_o sin_n arise_v from_o such_o defect_n we_o call_v a_o sin_n of_o infirmity_n if_o the_o main_a defect_n be_v in_o the_o will_n with_o perverse_a resolution_n bend_v upon_o any_o evil_n the_o sin_n arise_v from_o such_o wilfulness_n we_o call_v a_o rebellion_n or_o a_o sin_n of_o presumption_n and_o
which_o be_v not_o in_o that_o measure_n afford_v they_o when_o they_o be_v tempt_v and_o from_o who_o can_v we_o think_v that_o restraint_n to_o come_v but_o from_o that_o god_n who_o be_v the_o author_n and_o the_o lord_n of_o nature_n and_o have_v the_o power_n and_o command_v and_o rule_v of_o nature_n by_o who_o grace_n and_o goodness_n we_o be_v whatsoever_o we_o be_v and_o to_o who_o powerful_a assistance_n we_o owe_v it_o if_o we_o do_v any_o good_a for_o it_o be_v he_o that_o set_v we_o on_o and_o to_o his_o powerful_a restraint_n if_o we_o eschew_v any_o evil_n for_o it_o be_v he_o that_o keep_v we_o off_o therefore_o i_o also_o withhold_v thou_o from_o sin_v against_o i_o and_o as_o to_o the_o three_o point_n in_o the_o observation_n it_o be_v not_o much_o less_o evident_a than_o the_o two_o former_a namely_o that_o this_o restraint_n as_o it_o be_v from_o god_n so_o it_o be_v from_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n hence_o it_o be_v that_o divine_n usual_o bestow_v upon_o it_o the_o name_n of_o grace_n distinguish_v between_o a_o twofold_a grace_n a_o special_a renew_n grace_n and_o a_o common_a restrain_v grace_n the_o special_a and_o renew_v grace_n be_v indeed_o so_o incomparable_o more_o excellent_a that_o in_o comparison_n thereof_o the_o other_o be_v not_o worthy_a to_o be_v call_v by_o the_o name_n of_o grace_n if_o we_o will_v speak_v proper_o and_o exact_o but_o yet_o the_o word_n grace_n may_v not_o unfit_o be_v so_o extend_v as_o to_o reach_v to_o every_o act_n of_o god_n providence_n whereby_o at_o any_o time_n he_o restrain_v man_n from_o do_v those_o evil_n which_o otherwise_o they_o will_v do_v and_o that_o in_o a_o threefold_a respect_n of_o god_n of_o themselves_o of_o other_o first_o in_o respect_n of_o god_n every_o restraint_n from_o for_o he_o to_o forbear_v any_o sin_n whereunto_o he_o be_v tempt_v there_o be_v no_o power_n in_o nature_n to_o work_v a_o restraint_n nay_o there_o be_v not_o so_o much_o as_o any_o proneness_n in_o nature_n to_o desire_v a_o restraint_n much_o less_o than_o be_v there_o any_o worth_n in_o nature_n to_o deserve_v a_o restraint_n issue_v therefore_o not_o at_o all_o from_o the_o power_n of_o nature_n but_o from_o the_o free_a pleasure_n of_o god_n as_o a_o beam_n of_o his_o merciful_a providence_n this_o restraint_n may_v well_o be_v call_v grace_n and_o so_o it_o may_v be_v second_o in_o respect_n of_o the_o person_n themselves_o because_o though_o it_o be_v not_o available_a to_o they_o for_o their_o everlasting_a salvation_n yet_o it_o be_v some_o favour_n to_o they_o more_o than_o they_o have_v deserve_v that_o by_o this_o mean_v their_o sin_n what_o in_o number_n what_o in_o weight_n be_v so_o much_o lesser_a than_o otherwise_o they_o will_v have_v be_v whereby_o also_o of_o mankind_n especial_o of_o his_o church_n in_o the_o preservation_n of_o humane_a society_n which_o can_v not_o subsist_v a_o hour_n if_o every_o man_n shall_v be_v leave_v to_o the_o wildenesse_n
