for_o all_o in_o one_o and_o because_o they_o can_v find_v it_o they_o reject_v they_o all_o as_o impertinent_a dangerous_a or_o heretical_a and_o reproach_v the_o father_n sometime_o as_o ignorant_a shall_v have_v occasion_n to_o take_v notice_n of_o several_a instance_n of_o this_o as_o i_o go_v on_o at_o present_a i_o shall_v confine_v myself_o to_o the_o distinction_n of_o person_n which_o can_v be_v more_o true_o and_o apt_o represent_v than_o by_o the_o distinction_n between_o three_o man_n for_o father_n son_n and_o holy_a ghost_n be_v as_o real_o distinct_a person_n as_o peter_n james_n and_o john_n but_o whoever_o shall_v hence_o conclude_v that_o these_o father_n thought_n that_o father_n son_n and_o holy_a ghost_n be_v no_o otherwise_o one_o also_o than_o peter_n james_n and_o john_n be_v great_o abuse_v they_o without_o any_o colourable_a pretence_n for_o it_o as_o will_v appear_v more_o present_o but_o this_o comparison_n of_o they_o show_v what_o their_o sense_n be_v that_o these_o three_o divine_a person_n be_v three_o eternal_a and_o infinite_a mind_n as_o real_o distinct_a from_o each_o other_o as_o three_o man_n be_v though_o essential_o unite_v into_o one_o infinite_a and_o eternal_a mind_n or_o one_o god_n but_o i_o need_v not_o insist_v on_o this_o for_o the_o real_a distinction_n of_o person_n be_v so_o plain_o teach_v by_o the_o ancient_a father_n especial_o after_o the_o rise_n of_o the_o sabellian_n heresy_n that_o there_o be_v more_o difficulty_n to_o understand_v how_o they_o unite_v they_o into_o one_o god_n then_o that_o they_o make_v they_o distinct_a person_n and_o what_o they_o say_v about_o the_o unity_n of_o the_o godhead_n abundant_o prove_v this_o distinction_n of_o person_n second_o let_v we_o therefore_o in_o the_o second_o place_n consider_v how_o they_o explain_v this_o great_a mystery_n of_o a_o trinity_n in_o unity_n they_o all_o agree_v that_o there_o be_v three_o distinct_a person_n and_o that_o these_o three_o person_n be_v but_o one_o god_n and_o they_o seem_v to_o i_o to_o agree_v very_o well_o in_o that_o account_n they_o give_v of_o it_o though_o some_o late_a writer_n be_v very_o free_a and_o i_o think_v very_o unjust_a in_o their_o censure_n of_o some_o of_o they_o as_o scarce_o orthodox_n in_o this_o point_n i_o shall_v only_o remind_v you_o that_o this_o be_v so_o great_a a_o mystery_n of_o which_o we_o have_v no_o example_n in_o nature_n it_o be_v no_o wonder_n if_o it_o can_v be_v explain_v by_o any_o one_o kind_a of_o natural_a union_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v necessary_a to_o use_v several_a example_n and_o to_o allude_v to_o several_a kind_n of_o union_n to_o form_v a_o adequate_a notion_n of_o the_o unity_n of_o the_o godhead_n and_o we_o must_v careful_o apply_v what_o they_o say_v to_o those_o end_n and_o purpose_n for_o which_o they_o say_v it_o and_o not_o extend_v it_o beyond_o their_o intention_n as_o i_o observe_v before_o and_o there_o be_v several_a step_n cudworth_n etc._n have_v abundant_o prove_v that_o the_o nicene_n father_n do_v not_o understand_v this_o word_n of_o a_o
knowledge_n which_o take_v the_o pattern_n of_o thing_n for_o the_o new_a world_n and_o give_v be_v to_o they_o and_o therefore_o god_n make_v the_o world_n by_o his_o son_n and_o beget_v wisdom_n be_v the_o author_n and_o giver_n of_o life_n without_o which_o infinite_a wisdom_n and_o power_n produce_v no_o one_o effect_n original_a wisdom_n contain_v the_o idea_n of_o all_o thing_n and_o beget_v wisdom_n can_v frame_v the_o nature_n of_o thing_n according_a to_o the_o original_a idea_n of_o the_o divine_a mind_n but_o it_o be_v love_n which_o give_v be_v to_o they_o 6._o from_o
