gracious_a providence_n have_v give_v he_o to_o enjoy_v a_o small_a thing_n say_v the_o prophet_n unto_o the_o just_a man_n be_v better_a than_o great_a riches_n to_o the_o wicked_a and_o mighty_a in_o the_o prophet_n daniel_n who_o be_v feed_v but_o with_o pulse_n and_o water_n be_v fair_a and_o in_o better_a like_n than_o all_o the_o child_n which_o do_v eat_v the_o portion_n of_o the_o king_n meat_n it_o be_v not_o the_o meat_n but_o the_o blessing_n of_o god_n that_o do_v all_o for_o although_o god_n have_v appoint_v the_o bread_n to_o be_v our_o food_n yet_o we_o live_v not_o by_o bread_n only_o as_o christ_n teach_v but_o by_o every_o word_n that_o proceed_v out_o of_o the_o mouth_n of_o god_n and_o from_o his_o secret_a maintenance_n in_o he_o we_o live_v we_o move_v and_o able_a to_o live_v because_o he_o want_v worldly_a help_n such_o as_o other_o do_v abound_v withal_o and_o which_o they_o can_v find_v in_o their_o heart_n to_o part_v from_o to_o do_v the_o poor_a good_a although_o god_n have_v so_o command_v they_o and_o bless_v they_o with_o store_n to_o this_o intent_n that_o they_o may_v be_v helpful_a to_o the_o poor_a and_o to_o those_o that_o stand_v in_o need_n for_o god_n have_v make_v the_o rich_a and_o wealthy_a his_o steward_n to_o dispose_v his_o good_n but_o behold_v the_o poor_a man_n in_o his_o need_n and_o necessity_n be_v either_o disdain_v or_o despise_v or_o at_o least_o wise_a not_o comfort_v of_o the_o rich_a &_o wealthy_a yet_o god_n do_v not_o so_o leave_v he_o comfortless_o god_n do_v not_o so_o leave_v he_o without_o help_n for_o the_o poor_a that_o live_v in_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n and_o take_v a_o honest_a course_n of_o live_v to_o maintain_v themselves_o god_n bless_v their_o labour_n and_o make_v a_o little_a to_o stretch_v far_o whereas_o oftentimes_o the_o rich_a and_o wealthy_a have_v not_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n before_o their_o eye_n and_o trust_v to_o worldly_a help_n and_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n ryot_v and_o spend_v their_o good_n as_o though_o they_o have_v mountain_n they_o soon_o waste_v all_o and_o come_v to_o nothing_o much_o like_o the_o prodigal_a son_n who_o waste_v all_o to_o his_o shirt_n and_o at_o last_o want_v bread_n to_o feed_v he_o i_o have_v be_v young_a say_v the_o prophet_n david_n in_o his_o psalm_n and_o now_o be_o old_a and_o yet_o see_v i_o never_o the_o righteous_a forsake_v nor_o their_o seed_n beg_v their_o bread_n where_o he_o put_v a_o difference_n betwixt_o the_o poor_a whereof_o some_o be_v slothful_a and_o some_o be_v painful_a the_o idle_a word_n profitable_a lie_n or_o vain_a action_n and_o when_o we_o feel_v a_o study_n and_o a_o endeavour_n in_o ourselves_o to_o avoid_v the_o first_o motion_n that_o creep_v in_o our_o mind_n when_o there_o be_v a_o clear_n of_o ourselves_o from_o all_o suspicion_n by_o avoid_v all_o appearance_n of_o evil_a when_o there_o be_v a_o indignation_n and_o anger_n for_o all_o such_o thing_n past_a and_o a_o fear_n lest_o through_o our_o corruption_n they_o shall_v fall_v out_o again_o when_o there_o be_v a_o great_a desire_n to_o prevent_v they_o a_o zeal_n against_o they_o and_o a_o punish_v of_o they_o by_o exercise_v all_o due_a authority_n which_o god_n have_v give_v we_o against_o sin_n and_o final_o when_o there_o be_v a_o great_a desire_n in_o we_o to_o spend_v all_o the_o rest_n of_o our_o time_n not_o according_a to_o the_o will_n and_o commandment_n of_o god_n the_o deny_v of_o our_o worldly_a lust_n be_v nothing_o but_o the_o hatred_n of_o our_o sinful_a way_n which_o by_o these_o three_o reason_n will_v grow_v to_o be_v most_o forcible_a and_o effectual_a in_o us._n as_o first_o if_o we_o consider_v that_o it_o be_v the_o great_a pleasure_n that_o can_v be_v to_o the_o devil_n to_o see_v man_n and_o woman_n who_o be_v create_v to_o the_o image_n of_o god_n to_o delight_v more_o in_o the_o work_n of_o darkness_n then_o of_o light_n and_o so_o with_o might_n and_o main_a as_o they_o say_v to_o make_v speed_n to_o their_o own_o destruction_n second_o if_o we_o consider_v what_o harm_n sin_n bring_v and_o how_o much_o it_o hurt_v not_o ourselves_o only_o but_o other_o also_o through_o our_o example_n according_a to_o that_o say_n mat._n 18._o 7._o woe_n be_v to_o the_o world_n because_o of_o offence_n necessary_a it_o be_v that_o offence_n altogether_o not_o content_v with_o our_o estate_n when_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n have_v full_o persuade_v our_o mind_n to_o deny_v all_o worldly_a lust_n than_o we_o begin_v to_o frame_v our_o mind_n to_o a_o mean_a and_o to_o a_o measure_n know_v that_o as_o god_n blessing_n be_v in_o the_o use_n of_o his_o creature_n so_o in_o the_o abuse_n and_o sinful_a use_v of_o they_o they_o turn_v to_o our_o curse_n and_o unless_o we_o amend_v to_o our_o condemnation_n the_o property_n of_o our_o sinful_a lust_n be_v in_o all_o excess_n and_o lust_n lust_n therefore_o it_o be_v well_o say_v that_o they_o that_o be_v bewitch_v with_o the_o devil_n temptation_n follow_v their_o lust_n with_o greediness_n but_o they_o who_o mind_n be_v renew_a frame_v themselves_o to_o a_o godly_a mean_n judgement_n of_o all_o contemn_v and_o despise_v great_a difference_n there_o be_v betwixt_o necessity_n and_o superfluity_n even_o as_o much_o as_o betwixt_o life_n and_o death_n who_o know_v it_o not_o that_o of_o drunkenness_n gout_n &_o dropsy_n and_o such_o disease_n grow_v which_o make_v a_o man_n loathsome_a to_o other_o yea_o to_o himself_o and_o he_o be_v weary_a of_o his_o life_n and_o so_o at_o last_o his_o painful_a and_o languish_a day_n be_v cut_v off_o who_o may_v have_v live_v long_o many_o a_o fair_a day_n what_o do_v gluttony_n bring_v but_o surfeiting_n and_o oftentimes_o a_o speedy_a riddance_n therefore_o it_o be_v well_o say_v of_o a_o wise_a man_n plures_fw-la gula_fw-la quam_fw-la gladio_fw-la periere_fw-la that_o be_v more_o die_v by_o surfeit_v and_o distemperature_n then_o by_o the_o sword_n and_o by_o violent_a death_n what_o seek_v there_o be_v to_o the_o physician_n in_o such_o case_n whereas_o sobriety_n may_v be_v our_o physician_n if_o we_o will_v follow_v the_o rule_n thereof_o which_o be_v nothing_o else_o but_o to_o use_v a_o meâ—ne_n who_o live_v long_o than_o the_o ploughman_n and_o the_o country_n man_n who_o diet_n and_o fare_v be_v but_o to_o serve_v his_o turn_n and_o no_o more_o bibbing_a and_o bowl_a carouse_v and_o gurmundize_a this_o be_v the_o devil_n vadge_a and_o the_o messenger_n of_o death_n sobriety_n teach_v we_o that_o meat_n and_o drink_n be_v ordain_v of_o god_n for_o the_o sustenance_n of_o our_o body_n that_o we_o may_v be_v the_o better_a able_a to_o perform_v those_o duty_n which_o god_n have_v appoint_v to_o every_o one_o of_o we_o in_o our_o vocation_n and_o not_o to_o the_o satisfy_n of_o our_o pleasure_n and_o therefore_o we_o be_v command_v to_o pray_v o_o lord_n give_v we_o our_o world_n which_o seem_v to_o have_v no_o end_n shall_v vanish_v the_o heaven_n shall_v wear_v old_a as_o do_v a_o garment_n but_o as_o the_o word_n of_o the_o lord_n continue_v for_o ever_o so_o be_v the_o praise_n of_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n everlasting_a wheresoever_o the_o gospel_n be_v preach_v say_v christ_n throughout_o all_o the_o world_n there_o shall_v also_o this_o deed_n of_o mary_n the_o wisdom_n wisdom_n great_a commendation_n that_o can_v be_v give_v to_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n so_o do_v the_o word_n of_o god_n deserve_v the_o self_n same_o commendation_n by_o thy_o precept_n and_o commandment_n that_o be_v by_o thy_o word_n say_v the_o prophet_n david_n i_o be_o wise_a than_o the_o age_a and_o my_o elder_n by_o thy_o word_n i_o have_v get_v understanding_n therefore_o i_o hate_v all_o wicked_a way_n this_o be_v your_o wisdom_n say_v that_o holy_a man_n moses_n unto_o the_o israelite_n deu._n 4._o and_o this_o be_v your_o understanding_n in_o the_o sight_n of_o the_o profit_n by_o they_o then_o shall_v the_o scripture_n be_v easy_a to_o we_o which_o before_o think_v they_o to_o be_v too_o hard_a again_o in_o read_v of_o the_o scripture_n we_o ought_v not_o to_o be_v over_o rash_a to_o give_v our_o judgement_n out_o of_o hand_n especial_o in_o weighty_a matter_n but_o to_o compare_v one_o sentence_n and_o place_n of_o scripture_n with_o a_o other_o and_o it_o be_v no_o marvel_n if_o the_o scripture_n be_v hard_a and_o little_a for_o their_o profit_n the_o nature_n of_o man_n as_o it_o be_v give_v to_o hear_v news_n so_o it_o be_v marvellous_o incline_v to_o search_v out_o all_o secret_n yet_o none_o be_v more_o confound_v in_o their_o own_o wisdom_n and_o none_o more_o drive_v to_o uncertainty_n than_o they_o be_v but_o as_o for_o those_o matter_n which_o be_v for_o our_o salvation_n and_o for_o the_o instruction_n of_o our_o life_n they_o be_v most_o easy_a to_o be_v read_v know_v and_o understand_v even_o of_o the_o mean_a and_o keep_v we_o from_o all_o search_a therefore_o the_o devil_n cause_v the_o word_n to_o be_v close_v up_o in_o a_o unknown_a tongue_n and_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n we_o be_v carry_v away_o with_o vanity_n and_o hold_v in_o darkness_n and_o ignorance_n lest_o when_o we_o shall_v hear_v other_o or_o read_v god_n word_n ourselves_o we_o may_v understand_v and_o believe_v that_o so_o we_o may_v be_v save_v he_o blind_v the_o world_n and_o cast_v a_o mist_n of_o ignorance_n before_o their_o eye_n and_o keep_v away_o the_o comfortable_a sunshine_n of_o the_o word_n hinder_v the_o message_n of_o glad_a tiding_n and_o carry_v away_o the_o light_n of_o the_o glorious_a gospel_n of_o christ_n in_o a_o cloud_n that_o it_o may_v not_o comfort_v our_o heart_n &_o conscience_n that_o we_o may_v not_o be_v partaker_n of_o the_o bless_v benefit_n of_o god_n towards_o we_o in_o christ_n jesus_n as_o the_o forgiveness_n of_o our_o sin_n the_o favour_n of_o god_n a_o holy_a life_n a_o quiet_a conscience_n a_o steadfast_a hope_n of_o everlasting_a life_n and_o of_o the_o joy_n that_o be_v to_o come_v we_o be_v hinder_v from_o this_o search_n that_o we_o shall_v not_o tread_v the_o right_a way_n to_o everlasting_a life_n and_o salvation_n but_o that_o we_o shall_v go_v a_o by_o way_n to_o everlasting_a death_n and_o condenmation_n in_o the_o latter_a time_n there_o shall_v be_v many_o false_a teacher_n so_o that_o if_o it_o be_v possible_a they_o shall_v deceive_v the_o very_a elect_a and_o this_o deceit_n be_v no_o mean_a sleight_n but_o the_o indaunger_a of_o our_o soul_n that_o we_o shall_v never_o be_v partaker_n of_o everlasting_a life_n and_o therefore_o we_o be_v will_v to_o try_v the_o spirit_n to_o try_v such_o false_a teacher_n by_o the_o touchstone_n of_o god_n word_n and_o to_o examine_v their_o doctrine_n whether_o it_o be_v agreeable_a to_o the_o scripture_n search_v the_o scripture_n for_o in_o they_o you_o shall_v have_v life_n that_o be_v you_o shall_v the_o bondage_n of_o satan_n who_o procure_v they_o to_o be_v adopt_v the_o son_n of_o god_n be_v by_o nature_n the_o child_n of_o wrath_n who_o sanctify_v they_o and_o induce_v they_o with_o the_o gift_n and_o grace_n of_o his_o holy_a spirit_n that_o they_o may_v be_v frame_v to_o express_v the_o image_n of_o god_n in_o their_o life_n and_o conversation_n that_o they_o may_v be_v holy_a both_o and_o by_o the_o naughty_a counsel_n of_o those_o that_o be_v ill_o dispose_v from_o all_o which_o mischief_n by_o prayer_n we_o be_v deliver_v beside_o that_o in_o the_o exercise_n of_o prayer_n we_o have_v the_o company_n of_o god_n we_o talk_v with_o god_n and_o god_n with_o us._n and_o be_v so_o thankfulness_n thankfulness_n heavenly_a exercise_v what_o can_v be_v more_o godly_a thanfulnesse_n also_o be_v godliness_n when_o we_o be_v not_o unmindful_a of_o god_n benefit_n neither_o forgetful_a to_o show_v our_o duty_n both_o in_o heart_n and_o in_o word_n and_o in_o open_a profession_n and_o in_o do_v good_a to_o other_o to_o testify_v to_o the_o world_n god_n goodness_n towards_o we_o and_o so_o to_o be_v thankful_a too_o thankful_a we_o can_v be_v because_o we_o can_v never_o make_v recompense_n according_a to_o that_o the_o apostle_n say_v in_o all_o thing_n give_v thanks_o by_o nature_n we_o be_v too_o ungrateful_a but_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n do_v change_v our_o mind_n and_o learn_v they_o to_o be_v thankful_a upon_o thankfulness_n contentation_n contentation_n will_v also_o follow_v contentation_n that_o be_v a_o mind_n satisfy_v and_o content_v with_o that_o portion_n which_o god_n have_v send_v they_o that_o be_v not_o content_v can_v never_o be_v satisfy_v neither_o can_v they_o be_v thankful_a and_o they_o that_o can_v neither_o â—e_v content_a nor_o thankful_a it_o can_v hardly_o be_v say_v that_o there_o be_v godliness_n in_o they_o for_o godliness_n be_v great_a gain_n if_o a_o man_n be_v content_a with_o that_o he_o have_v there_o be_v none_o of_o we_o all_o that_o bring_v any_o thing_n into_o the_o world_n and_o certain_a it_o be_v we_o shall_v carry_v nothing_o out_o therefore_o we_o may_v find_v ourselves_o well_o content_v if_o we_o have_v food_n and_o raiment_n wherewithal_o to_o serve_v our_o turn_n but_o if_o this_o will_v not_o serve_v mark_v what_o may_v follow_v they_o that_o will_v be_v rich_a they_o fall_v into_o temptation_n &_o snare_n and_o into_o many_o foolish_a and_o noisome_a lust_n which_o drown_v man_n in_o perdition_n and_o destruction_n remember_v who_o it_o be_v that_o say_v all_o these_o will_v free_a they_o be_v by_o that_o mean_n unto_o the_o service_n of_o god_n from_o thankfulness_n and_o a_o mind_n content_v proceed_v a_o good_a will_n love_n and_o a_o charitable_a desire_n yea_o and_o a_o fellow-féeling_a of_o the_o want_n deed_n charitable_a deed_n and_o necessity_n of_o other_o so_o far_o that_o it_o provoke_v we_o not_o only_o to_o pity_v they_o and_o their_o estate_n but_o also_o to_o help_v and_o relieve_v they_o to_o the_o uttermost_a of_o our_o power_n charge_v they_o that_o be_v scotfree_a say_v the_o apostle_n that_o they_o trust_v not_o in_o their_o uncertain_a riches_n but_o in_o the_o live_a god_n who_o give_v we_o abundant_o all_o thing_n to_o enjoy_v and_o yet_o his_o charge_n stretch_v further_a that_o be_v that_o they_o shall_v do_v good_a and_o be_v rich_a in_o good_a work_n and_o ready_a to_o distribute_v and_o communicate_v and_o give_v to_o other_o and_o this_o be_v the_o gain_n that_o bring_v godliness_n with_o it_o and_o this_o godliness_n have_v great_a gain_n for_o thereby_o we_o lie_v up_o in_o store_n a_o good_a foundation_n against_o the_o time_n to_o come_v and_o he_o that_o so_o lay_v out_o his_o good_n give_v they_o not_o to_o the_o poor_a but_o unto_o god._n and_o as_o god_n have_v give_v unto_o we_o so_o let_v they_o who_o god_n have_v commend_v unto_o we_o i_o mean_v the_o godly_a poor_a the_o fatherless_a the_o widow_n and_o the_o stranger_n be_v partaker_n with_o we_o of_o god_n blessing_n lest_o it_o may_v so_o fall_v out_o that_o we_o may_v say_v that_o god_n have_v oâ—â—en_v and_o god_n have_v take_v away_o and_o if_o there_o be_v any_o good_a work_n else_o as_o more_o there_o be_v than_o i_o can_v name_v even_o all_o the_o good_a work_n that_o be_v be_v we_o bind_v to_o perform_v if_o godliness_n be_v grace_n of_o god_n have_v first_o thus_o wrought_v it_o and_o yet_o there_o be_v another_o kind_n of_o godliness_n more_o hard_a than_o all_o the_o former_a which_o be_v patient_o to_o suffer_v patience_n patience_n loss_n wrong_n injury_n persecution_n yea_o and_o death_n itself_o for_o the_o steadfast_a profession_n of_o god_n truth_n and_o his_o service_n as_o we_o read_v they_o that_o will_v live_v godly_a must_v suffer_v persecution_n for_o god_n do_v thereby_o try_v we_o and_o by_o little_a and_o little_o he_o do_v bring_v we_o to_o contemn_v the_o world_n and_o to_o desire_v these_o worldly_a matter_n as_o pleasure_n honour_n riches_n and_o such_o like_a and_o therefore_o in_o all_o place_n that_o be_v allege_v and_o which_o speak_v of_o the_o wait_a for_o of_o christ_n his_o come_n there_o the_o benefit_n be_v set_v forth_o with_o it_o and_o the_o greatness_n thereof_o remember_v which_o point_v at_o our_o darkness_n and_o unbelief_n herein_o and_o tell_v we_o that_o the_o glory_n of_o this_o world_n stand_v as_o a_o cloud_n between_o the_o great_a glory_n which_o be_v to_o come_v and_o our_o blind_a sight_n wherefore_o let_v ve_fw-la enlarge_v our_o hope_n in_o these_o matter_n shall_v have_v some_o recompense_n when_o god_n see_v good_a and_o if_o it_o be_v also_o for_o your_o good_a and_o you_o shall_v be_v comfort_v with_o riches_n honour_n friend_n to_o be_v compare_v to_o the_o loss_n of_o life_n for_o life_n be_v sweet_a yet_o this_o be_v the_o sorrow_n which_o here_o be_v mean_v and_o in_o this_o place_n command_v and_o which_o we_o must_v endure_v if_o we_o look_v to_o be_v the_o heir_n of_o heaven_n as_o the_o apostle_n witness_v write_v to_o the_o roman_n who_o put_v they_o in_o mind_n of_o great_a privilege_n do_v also_o persuade_v they_o to_o the_o patient_a endure_v of_o all_o trouble_n and_o persecution_n if_o you_o be_v child_n you_o be_v heir_n if_o heir_n the_o heir_n of_o god_n and_o fellow_n heir_n with_o christ_n if_o so_o be_v you_o suffer_v with_o he_o that_o you_o may_v also_o be_v glory_v with_o he_o you_o shall_v weep_v and_o lament_v because_o that_o gréevous_a persecution_n be_v your_o lot_n and_o the_o of_o lot_n they_o buy_v they_o sell_v they_o plant_v they_o build_v their_o heart_n be_v oppress_v with_o surfeit_v and_o drunkenness_n and_o they_o altogether_o overcome_v and_o drown_v in_o the_o care_n of_o this_o life_n even_o then_o when_o the_o latter_a day_n and_o the_o day_n of_o their_o destruction_n do_v sudden_o come_v upon_o they_o to_o these_o may_v be_v add_v another_o joy_n as_o
