to_o handle_v first_o more_o general_o that_o christ_n heart_n now_o in_o heaven_n be_v as_o gracious_o affect_v unto_o sinner_n as_o ever_o it_o be_v on_o earth_n and_o second_o more_o particular_o the_o manner_n how_o or_o thus_o 1._o that_o he_o be_v touch_v with_o a_o feel_n or_o sympathize_v with_o we_o as_o the_o word_n be_v 2._o the_o way_n how_o this_o come_v to_o pass_v even_o through_o his_o have_v be_v tempt_v in_o all_o thing_n like_v unto_o we_o in_o handle_v the_o first_o i_o shall_v give_v those_o intrinsical_a demonstration_n of_o it_o that_o remain_v and_o in_o handle_v the_o other_o further_o open_v the_o text._n to_o come_v therefore_o first_o to_o those_o intrinsical_v demonstration_n of_o this_o doctrine_n which_o i_o engraft_v upon_o these_o word_n and_o shoot_v stir_v up_o in_o he_o bowel_n of_o mercy_n infinite_o large_a towards_o you_o than_o you_o can_v have_v unto_o yourselves_o §._o ii_o a_o second_o sort_n of_o demonstration_n from_o several_a engagement_n now_o lie_v upon_o christ_n in_o heaven_n there_o be_v a_o second_o sort_n of_o demonstration_n which_o may_v be_v draw_v from_o many_o other_o several_a engagement_n continue_v and_o lie_v upon_o christ_n now_o he_o be_v in_o heaven_n which_o must_v needs_o incline_v his_o heart_n towards_o we_o as_o much_o yea_o more_o than_o ever_o as_o 1._o the_o continuance_n of_o all_o those_o near_a and_o intimate_a relation_n and_o allyance_n unto_o we_o of_o all_o sort_n which_o no_o glory_n of_o he_o can_v make_v any_o alteration_n in_o and_o therefore_o not_o in_o his_o heart_n and_o love_n nor_o a_o decline_a any_o respect_n and_o office_n of_o love_n which_o such_o relation_n do_v call_v for_o at_o his_o hand_n all_o relation_n that_o be_v natural_a such_o as_o between_o father_n and_o child_n husband_n and_o wife_n brother_n and_o brother_n etc._n etc._n look_v what_o world_n they_o be_v make_v for_o in_o that_o world_n they_o for_o ever_o hold_v and_o can_v never_o be_v dissolve_v these_o fleshly_a relation_n indeed_o do_v cease_v in_o that_o other_o world_n because_o they_o be_v make_v only_o for_o this_o world_n as_o rom._n 7._o 1._o the_o wife_n be_v bind_v to_o her_o husband_n but_o so_o long_o as_o he_o live_v but_o these_o relation_n of_o christ_n unto_o we_o be_v make_v in_o order_n to_o the_o world_n to_o come_v as_o the_o epistle_n to_o the_o hebrew_n call_v it_o and_o therefore_o be_v in_o their_o full_a vigour_n and_o strength_n and_o receive_v their_o compleatment_n therein_o wherefore_o it_o be_v that_o christ_n be_v say_v to_o be_v the_o same_o to_o day_n yesterday_o and_o for_o ever_o heb._n 13._o 8._o to_o illustrate_v this_o by_o the_o constant_a &_o indissoluble_a tie_n of_o those_o relation_n of_o this_o world_n whereto_o consider_v but_o her_o relation_n and_o how_o do_v it_o work_v in_o her_o vein_n by_o a_o sympathy_n of_o blood_n now_o much_o more_o do_v this_o hold_n good_a of_o husband_n and_o wife_n for_o they_o together_o make_v up_o but_o one_o and_o the_o same_o family_n to_o he_o as_o their_o lord_n christ_n be_v both_o the_o founder_n the_o subject_n and_o the_o most_o perfect_a exemplar_n and_o pattern_n to_o we_o of_o all_o the_o relation_n that_o be_v find_v on_o earth_n first_o he_o be_v the_o founder_n of_o all_o relation_n and_o affection_n that_o accompany_v they_o both_o in_o nature_n and_o grace_n as_o therefore_o the_o psalmist_n argue_v shall_v he_o not_o see_v who_o make_v the_o eye_n so_o do_v i_o shall_v not_o he_o who_o put_v all_o these_o affection_n into_o parent_n and_o with_o the_o least_o feeling_n of_o our_o infirmity_n neither_o be_v he_o in_o himself_o capable_a of_o any_o such_o affection_n of_o pity_n or_o compassion_n he_o be_v not_o as_o a_o man_n that_o he_o shall_v pity_v or_o repent_v etc._n etc._n he_o can_v indeed_o do_v that_o for_o we_o in_o our_o distress_n which_o a_o man_n that_o pity_v we_o use_v to_o do_v but_o the_o affection_n and_o bowel_n themselves_o he_o be_v not_o capable_a of_o hence_o therefore_o among_o other_o end_n of_o assume_v man_n nature_n this_o fell_a in_o before_o god_n as_o one_o that_o god_n may_v thereby_o old_a testament_n utter_v only_o in_o a_o figure_n become_v verify_v and_o fulfil_v in_o the_o truth_n of_o it_o as_o in_o all_o other_o thing_n the_o shadow_n of_o it_o be_v in_o christ_n fulfil_v and_o this_o be_v the_o first_o step_n towards_o the_o understanding_n of_o what_o be_v here_o say_v of_o christ_n take_v from_o this_o comparison_n with_o the_o like_a attribute_v unto_o god_n himself_o a_o second_o and_o further_a step_n to_o let_v in_o our_o understanding_n to_o the_o apprehension_n of_o this_o be_v by_o the_o like_o further_a comparison_n to_o be_v make_v with_o the_o angel_n and_o those_o affection_n of_o love_n and_o pity_n that_o be_v certain_o find_v in_o they_o in_o comparison_n of_o which_o these_o affection_n in_o christ_n humane_a nature_n though_o glorify_v must_v needs_o be_v far_o more_o like_a to_o we_o even_o more_o tender_a and_o more_o humane_a for_o in_o that_o heb._n 2._o it_o be_v express_o say_v he_o therefore_o take_v not_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o angel_n that_o he_o may_v be_v a_o merciful_a highpriest_n part_v of_o the_o intendment_n of_o those_o word_n be_v to_o show_v and_o give_v the_o reason_n not_o only_o why_o he_o and_o during_o that_o time_n god_n prepare_v for_o he_o all_o sort_n of_o affliction_n and_o misery_n to_o run_v through_o which_o we_o ourselves_o do_v here_o meet_v withal_o and_o all_o that_o time_n he_o be_v acquaint_v with_o and_o enure_v unto_o all_o the_o like_a sorrow_n that_o we_o be_v and_o god_n leave_v he_o to_o that_o infirmity_n and_o tenderness_n of_o spirit_n to_o take_v in_o all_o distress_n as_o deep_o as_o any_o of_o we_o without_o sin_n and_o to_o exercise_v the_o very_a same_o affection_n under_o all_o these_o distress_n that_o we_o at_o any_o time_n do_v find_v stir_v in_o our_o heart_n and_o this_o god_n thus_o order_v on_o purpose_n thereby_o to_o fit_v he_o and_o to_o frame_v his_o heart_n when_o he_o shall_v be_v in_o glory_n unto_o such_o affection_n as_o these_o speak_v of_o in_o the_o text._n and_o this_o both_o this_o text_n suggest_v to_o be_v god_n end_n in_o it_o as_o also_o that_o forementioned_a place_n heb._n 2._o 13._o for_o as_o much_o as_o we_o namely_o his_o member_n be_v partaker_n of_o flesh_n and_o blood_n which_o phrase_n do_v ever_o note_v out_o the_o frailty_n of_o man_n nature_n as_o 1_o cor._n 15._o 50._o etc._n etc._n he_o himself_o take_v part_n of_o the_o same_o that_o he_o may_v be_v a_o merciful_a highpriest_n etc._n etc._n ver_fw-la 17._o and_o then_o the_o apostle_n give_v this_o reason_n of_o it_o ver_fw-la 18._o for_o in_o that_o himself_o have_v suffer_v be_v tempt_v he_o be_v able_a this_o ability_n be_v as_o be_v before_o interpret_v the_o have_v a_o heart_n fit_v and_o enable_v out_o of_o experience_n to_o pity_v and_z to_o succour_v they_o that_o be_v tempt_v the_o meaning_n of_o which_o be_v that_o it_o be_v not_o the_o bare_a take_n of_o a_o humane_a nature_n if_o glorious_a from_o the_o first_o that_o will_v thus_o full_o have_v fit_v he_o to_o be_v affectionate_o pitiful_a out_o of_o experience_n though_o as_o be_v say_v the_o knowledge_n of_o our_o misery_n take_v in_o thereby_o will_v have_v make_v he_o true_o and_o real_o affectionate_a towards_o we_o with_o affection_n humane_a and_o proper_a to_o a_o man_n and_o so_o much_o near_o and_o like_a we_o then_o what_o be_v in_o the_o angel_n themselves_o or_o then_o be_v attribute_v to_o god_n when_o he_o be_v say_v to_o pity_v we_o but_o further_a his_o take_v our_o nature_n at_o first_o clothe_v with_o frailty_n and_o live_v in_o this_o world_n as_o we_o this_o have_v for_o ever_o fit_v his_o heart_n by_o experience_n to_o be_v in_o our_o very_a heart_n and_o bosom_n and_o not_o only_o or_o bare_o to_o know_v the_o distress_n and_o as_o a_o man_n to_o be_v affect_v with_o a_o humane_a affection_n to_o one_o of_o his_o kind_n but_o experimental_o remember_v the_o like_a in_o himself_o once_o and_o this_o likewise_o the_o text_n suggest_v as_o the_o way_n whereby_o our_o distress_n be_v let_v into_o his_o heart_n the_o more_o feel_o now_o he_o be_v in_o heaven_n we_o have_v not_o a_o highpriest_n that_o can_v be_v touch_v with_o the_o feel_n of_o our_o infirmity_n but_o be_v in_o all_o point_n tempt_v like_a as_o we_o be_v yet_o without_o sin_n and_o the_o more_o to_o comfort_v we_o herein_o observe_v how_o full_o and_o universal_o the_o apostle_n speak_v of_o christ_n have_v be_v tempt_v here_o below_o first_o for_o the_o matter_n of_o they_o or_o the_o several_a sort_n of_o temptation_n he_o say_v he_o be_v tempt_v 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d in_o all_o point_n or_o thing_n of_o any_o kind_n wherewith_o we_o be_v exereise_v second_o for_o the_o manner_n he_o add_v that_o too_o 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d like_a as_o we_o be_v his_o heart_n have_v be_v just_a so_o affect_v so_o wound_v pierce_v and_o distress_a in_o all_o such_o trial_n as_o we_o use_v to_o be_v only_o without_o sin_n god_n on_o purpose_n leave_v all_o his_o affection_n to_o their_o full_a tenderness_n and_o quickness_n of_o sense_n of_o evil_a so_o that_o christ_n take_v to_o heart_n all_o that_o befall_v he_o as_o deep_o as_o may_v be_v he_o slight_v no_o cross_n either_o from_o god_n or_o man_n but_o have_v and_o feel_v the_o utmost_a load_n of_o it_o yea_o his_o heart_n be_v make_v more_o tender_a in_o all_o sort_n of_o affection_n than_o any_o of_o we_o even_o as_o it_o be_v in_o love_n and_o pity_n and_o this_o make_v he_o a_o man_n of_o sorrow_n and_o that_o more_o than_o anyother_n man_n be_v or_o shall_v be_v now_o therefore_o to_o explicate_v the_o way_n how_o our_o misery_n be_v let_v into_o his_o heart_n &_o come_v to_o stir_v up_o such_o kindly_a affection_n of_o pity_n and_o compassion_n in_o he_o it_o be_v not_o hard_a to_o conceive_v from_o what_o have_v now_o be_v say_v and_o from_o what_o the_o text_n do_v further_a hint_n unto_o we_o 1._o the_o understanding_n and_o knowledge_n of_o that_o humane_a nature_n have_v notice_n and_o cognisance_n of_o all_o the_o occurrence_n that_o befall_v his_o member_n here_o and_o for_o this_o the_o text_n be_v clear_a for_o the_o apostle_n speak_v this_o for_o our_o encouragement_n that_o christ_n be_v touch_v with_o the_o feel_n of_o our_o infirmity_n which_o can_v not_o be_v a_o relief_n unto_o we_o if_o it_o suppose_v not_o this_o that_o he_o particular_o and_o distinct_o know_v they_o and_o if_o not_o all_o as_o well_o as_o some_o we_o shall_v want_v relief_n in_o all_o as_o not_o know_v which_o he_o how_o it_o be_v once_o with_o he_o hence_o he_o come_v feel_o and_o experimental_o to_o know_v how_o it_o be_v now_o with_o we_o and_o so_o affect_v himself_o therewith_o as_o dido_n in_o virgil_n haud_fw-la ignara_fw-la mali_fw-la miseris_fw-la succurrere_fw-la disco_fw-la having_n experience_n of_o the_o like_a misery_n though_o a_o queen_n now_o i_o know_v how_o to_o succour_v those_o that_o be_v therein_o as_o god_n say_v to_o the_o israelite_n when_o they_o shall_v be_v possess_v of_o canaan_n their_o own_o land_n exo._n 23._o 9_o you_o know_v the_o heart_n of_o stranger_n see_v you_o like_a by_o himself_o once_o taste_v in_o a_o frail_a nature_n like_o unto_o we_o and_o thus_o much_o for_o the_o way_n of_o let_v in_o all_o our_o misery_n into_o christ_n heart_n now_o so_o as_o to_o strike_v and_o affect_v it_o with_o they_o §._o ii_o a_o more_o particular_a disquisition_n what_o manner_n of_o affection_n this_o be_v the_o seat_n thereof_o whether_o in_o his_o spirit_n or_o soul_n only_o or_o the_o whole_a humane_a nature_n some_o caution_n add_v but_o concern_v this_o affection_n itself_o of_o pity_n and_o compassion_n fellow-feeling_n and_o sympathy_n or_o suffer_v be_v inquire_v into_o namely_o what_o manner_n of_o affection_n this_o be_v for_o that_o such_o a_o affection_n be_v stir_v up_o in_o he_o beside_o and_o beyond_o a_o bare_a act_n of_o knowledge_n or_o remembrance_n how_o once_o it_o be_v with_o himself_o be_v evident_a by_o what_o we_o find_v in_o the_o text._n the_o apostle_n say_v not_o only_o that_o he_o remember_v how_o himself_o be_v tempt_v with_o the_o like_a infirmity_n that_o we_o be_v though_o that_o be_v necessary_o suppose_v but_o that_o he_o be_v strike_v and_o touch_v with_o the_o feel_n of_o our_o infirmity_n to_o the_o produce_v of_o which_o this_o act_n of_o remembrance_n do_v but_o subserve_v and_o he_o tell_v we_o christ_n be_v able_a and_o his_o heart_n be_v capable_a of_o thus_o be_v touch_v and_o the_o word_n the_o same_o and_o according_o the_o apostle_n instance_v in_o the_o follow_a word_n of_o that_o 14._o verse_n as_o in_o death_n which_o in_o the_o day_n of_o his_o flesh_n christ_n be_v subject_a to_o so_o also_o in_o such_o frail_a passion_n and_o affection_n as_o do_v work_v a_o suffering_n in_o he_o and_z a_o wearing_z and_o waste_v of_o his_o spirit_n such_o as_o passionate_a sorrow_n join_v with_o strong_a cry_n and_o tear_n both_o which_o he_o mention_v and_o also_o fear_v in_o those_o word_n he_o be_v hear_v in_o that_o which_o he_o fear_v now_o these_o day_n of_o his_o flesh_n be_v over_o and_o past_a for_o this_o be_v only_o as_o say_v the_o apostle_n in_o the_o day_n of_o his_o flesh_n hence_o therefore_o all_o such_o concomitant_a passionate_a overflowing_n of_o sorrow_n fear_n etc._n etc._n be_v cease_v therewith_o and_o he_o be_v now_o no_o way_n capable_a of_o they_o or_o subject_v to_o they_o yet_o 2._o positive_o why_o may_v it_o not_o be_v affirm_v that_o for_o
