the_o lowne_n and_o weakness_n of_o man_n whether_o unregenerate_a or_o regenerate_v the_o unregenerate_a person_n be_v in_o his_o natural_a estate_n be_v endue_v only_o with_o a_o natural_a understanding_n so_o as_o the_o thing_n of_o god_n be_v beyond_o his_o reach_n and_o compass_v they_o be_v foolishness_n to_o he_o he_o can_v conceive_v of_o they_o the_o regenerate_a although_o he_o christ_n and_o his_o apostle_n as_o we_o have_v show_v as_o also_o the_o practice_n of_o the_o ancient_a church_n since_o as_o may_v appear_v by_o that_o memorable_a course_n of_o constantine_n the_o emperor_n who_o command_v the_o father_n meet_v together_o in_o the_o nicene_n council_n about_o 362._o year_n after_o christ_n to_o refer_v the_o great_a controversy_n then_o in_o hand_n against_o the_o arrian_n to_o the_o decision_n and_o determination_n of_o the_o scripture_n which_o godly_a course_n augustine_n back_v who_o live_v not_o pass_v 40._o year_n after_o when_o he_o affirm_v that_o
