very_a excellent_a spirit_a man_n and_o very_o exact_a in_o his_o practice_n so_o exact_a under_o that_o present_a administration_n wherein_o he_o be_v set_v that_o his_o life_n temper_n and_o motion_n be_v exceed_o please_a to_o he_o who_o have_v so_o form_v and_o act_v he_o in_o so_o much_o as_o he_o be_v not_o ashamed_a to_o boast_v of_o he_o even_o to_o the_o face_n of_o the_o great_a opposer_n disturber_n and_o destroyer_n of_o such_o kind_n of_o building_n this_o job_n as_o he_o be_v perfect_a under_o that_o administration_n so_o he_o be_v in_o a_o proportionable_a manner_n bless_v with_o child_n sheep_n camel_n ox_n ass_n and_o a_o very_a great_a family_n in_o a_o moment_n all_o these_o blessing_n be_v snatch_v away_o rich_a job_n make_v poor_a by_o be_v strip_v of_o all_o which_o he_o take_v very_o patient_o retain_v as_o sweet_a a_o temper_n of_o spirit_n under_o his_o affliction_n and_o misery_n as_o have_v attend_v he_o in_o the_o time_n of_o his_o prosperity_n after_o this_o as_o if_o there_o have_v be_v a_o design_n to_o wear_v he_o out_o his_o whole_a body_n be_v smite_v with_o disease_n and_o pain_n and_o his_o mind_n wound_v to_o purpose_n too_o and_o yet_o at_o first_o he_o take_v this_o kindly_a also_o his_o spirit_n not_o at_o all_o deviate_a out_o of_o that_o path_n of_o perfection_n wherein_o hitherto_o he_o have_v walk_v but_o at_o length_n anguish_n overcome_v he_o it_o open_v the_o very_a depth_n and_o cause_n that_o to_o come_v forth_o which_o have_v long_o lie_v hide_v in_o he_o if_o not_o also_o from_o he_o certain_a friend_n of_o his_o in_o this_o state_n of_o his_o come_v to_o visit_v he_o sit_v silent_a by_o he_o as_o astonish_v at_o he_o not_o know_v what_o to_o think_v of_o he_o nor_o what_o to_o say_v to_o he_o but_o at_o length_n foolish_o and_o weak_o take_v occasion_n from_o some_o distemper_n in_o his_o word_n to_o nourish_v in_o themselves_o groundless_a jealousy_n concerning_o he_o and_o with_o all_o the_o strength_n of_o argument_n they_o can_v lay_v hold_v on_o to_o impose_v they_o upon_o his_o belief_n job_n state_n they_o know_v not_o neither_o in_o the_o nature_n of_o thing_n nor_o in_o their_o own_o experience_n yet_o a_o great_a mind_n they_o have_v to_o say_v somewhat_o to_o he_o with_o a_o intent_n to_o help_v and_o relieve_v he_o but_o for_o want_v of_o a_o true_a bottom_n of_o light_n they_o fall_v to_o imagine_v and_o guess_v and_o feed_v these_o their_o imagination_n with_o reason_n that_o flow_v in_o upon_o they_o and_o take_v it_o very_o ill_o that_o these_o dark_a conception_n of_o they_o can_v overbear_v that_o more_o illuminate_v principle_n that_o be_v in_o job_n they_o take_v it_o for_o grant_v that_o sin_n must_v be_v the_o cause_n or_o god_n will_v never_o have_v deal_v so_o with_o job_n they_o urge_v this_o from_o the_o justice_n of_o god_n from_o the_o experience_n of_o all_o age_n and_o therefore_o wish_v job_n to_o look_v to_o himself_o to_o acknowledge_v his_o sin_n and_o humble_v himself_o before_o god_n and_o not_o to_o fly_v out_o into_o such_o extravagant_a self-justification_n or_o accusation_n of_o god_n as_o his_o present_a distemper_n may_v dispose_v he_o to_o job_n here_o endeavour_n to_o take_v they_o off_o from_o these_o excursion_n and_o draw_v the_o point_n between_o he_o and_o they_o to_o a_o head_n he_o deny_v the_o bottom_n whereupon_o they_o go_v and_o lay_v down_o his_o own_o bottom_n this_o be_v uniform_a this_o be_v every_o way_n true_a that_o which_o you_o speak_v be_v true_a it_o be_v true_a that_o sinner_n be_v meet_v with_o oppressor_n must_v have_v a_o time_n to_o be_v themselves_o oppress_v hypocrite_n shall_v not_o always_o flourish_v the_o righteous_a shall_v be_v bless_v etc._n etc._n but_o this_o will_v not_o hold_v so_o far_o as_o you_o extend_v it_o that_o every_o one_o that_o be_v thus_o deal_v with_o must_v needs_o be_v such_o a_o one_o but_o that_o which_o i_o lie_v down_o be_v uniform_a have_v no_o such_o exception_n be_v a_o deep_a a_o full_a truth_n perfect_a and_o wicked_a he_o destroy_v how_o exact_a soever_o a_o man_n be_v under_o his_o administration_n yet_o it_o be_v in_o the_o power_n of_o he_o who_o make_v he_o and_o form_v he_o into_o what_o he_o be_v in_o that_o administration_n to_o bring_v he_o to_o destruction_n in_o it_o at_o his_o pleasure_n he_o that_o bring_v both_o the_o perfect_a and_o the_o wicked_a upon_o the_o stage_n may_v turn_v either_o of_o they_o off_o from_o the_o stage_n when_o he_o will_v there_o be_v no_o more_o to_o hinder_v he_o from_o destroy_v the_o perfect_a than_o there_o be_v to_o hinder_v he_o from_o destroy_v the_o wicked_a they_o be_v both_o equal_o he_o they_o be_v both_o at_o his_o dispose_n they_o be_v one_o and_o the_o same_o under_o several_a representation_n and_o he_o have_v appoint_v they_o both_o to_o one_o and_o the_o same_o end_n which_o be_v destruction_n this_o be_v it_o i_o will_v stand_v to_o overthrow_v it_o if_o you_o can_v he_o destroy_v the_o perfect_a and_o the_o wicked_a perfect_a and_o wicked_a perfect_a be_v such_o as_o be_v upright_o under_o that_o administration_n under_o which_o they_o be_v set_v who_o in_o their_o state_n and_o motion_n suit_n with_o the_o law_n of_o it_o god_n have_v a_o law_n for_o every_o thing_n he_o bring_v forth_o in_o this_o state_n of_o weakness_n he_o that_o suit_v with_o the_o law_n of_o his_o administration_n that_o administration_n which_o he_o be_v set_v under_o be_v perfect_a he_o who_o deviate_v whole_o from_o it_o be_v wicked_a

be_v destruction_n will_v make_v a_o end_n of_o their_o wickedness_n yea_o and_o it_o will_v make_v a_o end_n of_o your_o righteousness_n also_o and_o then_o you_o will_v become_v both_o one_o lump_n of_o clay_n without_o either_o good_a or_o evil_a use_v 2._o not_o to_o grieve_v overmuch_o when_o you_o find_v destruction_n seize_v upon_o you_o if_o your_o body_n or_o spirit_n moulder_v away_o if_o god_n consume_v your_o righteousness_n your_o holiness_n your_o perfection_n by_o the_o blast_n of_o his_o spirit_n grieve_v not_o beyond_o measure_n at_o it_o alas_o it_o must_v die_v this_o must_v not_o last_v for_o ever_o you_o think_v to_o have_v be_v make_v happy_a by_o this_o your_o happiness_n lie_v in_o be_v deliver_v from_o it_o this_o be_v not_o the_o true_a treasure_n or_o at_o grass_n and_o the_o flower_n thereof_o fall_v and_o the_o grace_n of_o the_o fashion_n of_o it_o perish_v so_o also_o shall_v the_o rich_a man_n fade_v away_o in_o his_o way_n therefore_o be_v glad_a at_o the_o death_n of_o that_o that_o must_v die_v you_o have_v undergo_v that_o sorrow_n which_o there_o be_v no_o avoid_n this_o be_v great_a matter_n of_o joy_n the_o pain_n of_o have_v the_o sap_n of_o this_o death_n than_o the_o day_n of_o this_o life_n there_o be_v great_a matter_n of_o joy_n in_o part_v with_o in_o put_v off_o this_o excellency_n then_o in_o put_v it_o on_o now_o for_o a_o conclusion_n to_o all_o this_o i_o intend_v to_o lay_v down_o the_o brief_a sum_n of_o the_o whole_a matter_n even_o of_o the_o whole_a course_n of_o man_n under_o every_o administration_n wherein_o he_o be_v either_o lift_v up_o or_o throw_v down_o or_o both_o lift_v up_o and_o throw_v down_o first_o lift_v up_o and_o then_o throw_v down_o and_o through_o which_o he_o pass_v to_o his_o last_a state_n take_v it_o thus_o we_o be_v all_o make_v by_o he_o who_o be_v the_o great_a potter_n or_o former_a of_o all_o thing_n what_o ever_o we_o be_v whether_o righteous_a or_o wicked_a under_o what_o administration_n soever_o and_o this_o not_o so_o much_o for_o any_o end_n we_o can_v conceive_v or_o drive_v at_o as_o for_o his_o own_o pleasure_n which_o will_v have_v its_o course_n upon_o we_o and_o will_v toss_v and_o tumble_v we_o up_o and_o down_o into_o several_a sort_n of_o death_n and_o life_n as_o great_a and_o as_o often_o as_o it_o please_v till_o it_o have_v quite_o confound_v and_o bring_v we_o to_o a_o perfect_a loss_n in_o all_o our_o own_o hope_n desire_n and_o apprehension_n yea_o till_o at_o last_o it_o have_v quite_o swallow_v we_o up_o in_o itself_o where_o when_o we_o be_v dead_a bury_v and_o cease_v to_o be_v know_v or_o desire_v any_o more_o that_o life_n may_v at_o length_n spring_v up_o in_o we_o which_o till_o then_o we_o be_v uncapable_a of_o any_o distinct_a desire_v or_o possess_v and_o the_o passage_n to_o this_o though_o it_o be_v very_o dreadful_a to_o the_o flesh_n be_v even_o through_o the_o gate_n of_o hell_n death_n and_o destruction_n yet_o it_o be_v in_o no_o small_a measure_n joyful_a to_o the_o eye_n of_o that_o spirit_n which_o discern_v it_o to_o be_v but_o a_o passage_n and_o a_o necessary_a passage_n too_o and_o what_o brave_a royal_a heart_n will_v refuse_v to_o join_v issue_n with_o this_o request_n o_o let_v all_o shadowy_a perfection_n all_o perfection_n that_o come_v in_o and_o by_o administration_n die_v and_o pass_v away_o be_v swallow_v up_o by_o a_o death_n by_o a_o destruction_n more_o powerful_a than_o themselves_o that_o so_o way_n may_v be_v make_v for_o the_o discovery_n of_o true_a and_o complete_a perfection_n that_o it_o may_v come_v forth_o to_o swallow_v up_o both_o destruction_n and_o all_o that_o it_o have_v destroy_v for_o ever_o and_o to_o bring_v forth_o itself_o and_o every_o thing_n again_o in_o its_o primitive_a glory_n that_o they_o may_v return_v to_o that_o beauty_n wherein_o they_o be_v before_o they_o be_v stain_v by_o that_o vanity_n misery_n and_o vexation_n whereunto_o all_o thing_n be_v at_o present_a subject_v a_o letter_n implead_v a_o conversion_n whether_o real_a or_o pretend_a be_v not_o material_a and_o all_o such_o kind_n of_o change_n in_o the_o creature_n backward_o or_o forward_o by_o principle_n either_o outward_a or_o inward_a dear_a anne_n i_o have_v see_v your_o recantation_n in_o a_o letter_n of_o you_o which_o do_v wonderful_o please_v i_o i_o like_v well_o to_o see_v the_o creature_n with_o its_o wax_a wing_n mount_v up_o towards_o heaven_n and_o soar_v aloft_o beyond_o the_o reach_n of_o the_o sight_n of_o its_o fellow_n creature_n but_o i_o like_v it_o much_o better_a to_o see_v the_o wax_n melt_v by_o the_o heat_n of_o the_o sun_n and_o the_o poor_a foolish_a forward_a creature_n tumble_v down_o into_o the_o sea_n or_o unto_o the_o earth_n again_o what_o shall_v the_o creature_n do_v in_o heaven_n the_o light_n of_o god_n shall_v not_o quit_v itself_o like_o itself_o if_o it_o do_v not_o at_o least_o dazzle_v if_o not_o whole_o extinguish_v the_o fleshly_a eye_n and_o turn_v it_o back_o into_o its_o fleshly_a principle_n again_o so_o let_v all_o thy_o enemy_n perish_v o_o lord_n so_o let_v all_o the_o principle_n the_o creature_n either_o suck_v in_o from_o other_o or_o beat_v out_o itself_o by_o its_o own_o pure_a search_n and_o reason_n come_v to_o nought_o be_v so_o thorough_o and_o shake_v what_o pretty_a sport_n do_v original_a wisdom_n make_v with_o we_o he_o toss_v and_o tumble_v we_o make_v we_o be_v or_o not_o be_v own_o or_o not_o own_o what_o and_o when_o he_o please_v and_o well_o he_o may_v while_o he_o hide_v from_o we_o the_o true_a and_o original_a colour_n of_o thing_n and_o that_o skill_n whereby_o he_o colour_v thing_n he_o may_v cozen_v we_o as_o often_o as_o he_o please_v he_o may_v put_v what_o colour_n he_o will_v upon_o thing_n and_o what_o eye_n he_o will_v into_o we_o and_o we_o in_o behold_v the_o present_a colour_n with_o the_o present_a eye_n may_v be_v confident_a in_o what_o we_o see_v yea_o in_o both_o judge_v it_o and_o other_o thing_n by_o it_o not_o know_v either_o the_o root_n of_o it_o or_o of_o that_o eye_n that_o judge_v it_o do_v for_o i_o you_o speak_v here_o of_o the_o lord_n of_o his_o love_n his_o great_a love_n of_o the_o work_n of_o this_o love_n and_o what_o it_o have_v wrought_v for_o you_o do_v you_o know_v the_o lord_n or_o his_o love_n what_o if_o i_o shall_v tell_v you_o that_o both_o the_o lord_n and_o his_o love_n with_o all_o the_o work_n of_o it_o both_o upon_o you_o and_o other_o shall_v pass_v away_o and_o never_o again_o be_v acknowledge_v or_o know_v as_o now_o they_o be_v by_o you_o or_o any_o other_o creaturely_a apprehension_n what_o will_v you_o say_v to_o i_o you_o may_v be_v draw_v forth_o to_o judge_n i_o wonderful_a deep_o and_o clear_o by_o your_o present_a eye_n but_o can_v you_o or_o any_o else_o thorough_o resolve_v this_o i_o tell_v you_o true_o when_o i_o can_v speak_v i_o will_v not_o be_v silent_a for_o fear_v of_o man_n judgement_n and_o condemnation_n and_o i_o will_v venture_v to_o add_v thus_o much_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n my_o god_n will_v not_o please_v i_o if_o any_o creature_n can_v measure_v the_o least_o part_n of_o he_o with_o that_o eye_n which_o they_o call_v spiritual_a their_o heart_n must_v not_o know_v the_o least_o spark_n of_o his_o nature_n nor_o their_o tongue_n be_v able_a to_o utter_v the_o least_o tittle_n of_o his_o name_n they_o may_v have_v and_o shall_v have_v while_o the_o time_n last_v a_o knowledge_n suitable_a to_o they_o have_v go_v on_o through_o your_o whole_a letter_n but_o i_o find_v my_o flesh_n weary_a and_o my_o spirit_n likewise_o shut_v up_o i_o shall_v therefore_o only_o glance_v at_o two_o or_o three_o with_o creatureship_n as_o if_o it_o be_v quite_o empty_a of_o the_o creator_n and_o yet_o the_o creator_n everywhere_o so_o every_o thing_n in_o every_o thing_n as_o quite_o to_o drown_v the_o whole_a creatureship_n in_o all_o its_o be_v and_o motion_n you_o say_v there_o be_v evil_a so_o say_v i_o too_o to_o all_o eye_n but_o one_o but_o if_o you_o will_v say_v there_o be_v evil_a to_o that_o eye_n you_o speak_v beyond_o your_o bound_n you_o know_v not_o that_o eye_n what_o it_o be_v nor_o what_o it_o see_v and_o you_o venture_v too_o far_o if_o you_o say_v it_o see_v either_o good_a or_o evil_n these_o be_v the_o colour_n wherein_o thing_n appear_v to_o your_o eye_n but_o the_o colour_n wherein_o that_o eye_n see_v thing_n be_v not_o yet_o know_v nor_o can_v be_v see_v
