strength_n of_o comfort_n of_o assurance_n of_o assistance_n against_o temptation_n correction_n trouble_n all_o enlivement_n and_o quickning_n of_o the_o spirit_n about_o all_o sort_n of_o duty_n and_o service_n active_a or_o passive_a 2._o another_o be_v temporal_a which_o be_v not_o only_o the_o term_n of_o our_o natural_a breathe_n but_o also_o the_o sundry_a and_o manifold_a occurrence_n which_o befall_v we_o in_o the_o employment_n of_o our_o life_n all_o the_o accident_n and_o interruption_n cross_n checking_n contrariety_n either_o in_o our_o body_n or_o call_v or_o wealth_n or_o person_n or_o child_n or_o servant_n or_o good_a name_n brief_o the_o temporal_a state_n comprehend_v all_o whatsoever_o may_v weaken_v or_o waste_v or_o distract_v all_o or_o any_o of_o our_o temporal_a contentment_n delight_n desire_n end_n as_o also_o all_o our_o temporal_a supplement_n for_o the_o be_v or_o well-being_n of_o this_o poor_a and_o short_a life_n of_o we_o as_o health_n strength_n friend_n food_z liberty_n estate_n peace_n and_o quietness_n etc._n etc._n now_o then_o live_v by_o faith_n extend_v to_o both_o the_o just_a shall_v live_v by_o his_o faith_n say_v the_o prophet_n hab._n 2._o 4._o of_o the_o jew_n in_o the_o temporal_a state_n and_o i_o live_v by_o the_o faith_n of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n say_v paul_n in_o gal._n 2._o 2._o speak_v of_o his_o spiritual_a state_n so_o that_o faith_n bear_v up_o soul_n and_o body_n and_o be_v both_o for_o heaven_n and_o earth_n it_o serve_v to_o fetch_v in_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n the_o redemption_n by_o christ_n pardon_v of_o sin_n god_n favour_n all_o grace_n and_o comfort_n to_o the_o soul_n and_o it_o serve_v to_o fetch_v in_o also_o health_n to_o the_o body_n riches_n to_o the_o estate_n plenty_n peace_n friend_n what_o not_o when_o i_o be_o sick_a i_o yet_o trust_v in_o god_n for_o health_n when_o poor_a i_o yet_o trust_v on_o god_n for_o sufficiency_n when_o under_o reproach_n i_o yet_o trust_v on_o god_n to_o clear_v my_o innocency_n when_o under_o discomfort_n and_o forsakement_n i_o yet_o trust_v on_o god_n for_o favour_n and_o countenance_n in_o all_o my_o distress_n and_o reproach_n i_o have_v yet_o his_o word_n for_o my_o supply_n and_o help_n upon_o which_o i_o rest_v and_o thus_o i_o live_v by_o faith_n so_o far_o as_o the_o promise_n extend_v so_o far_o do_v live_v by_o faith_n extend_v sect_n iii_o quest_n 3._o now_o more_o particular_o what_o it_o be_v to_o live_v by_o faith_n on_o christ_n sol._n i_o will_v tell_v you_o what_o i_o think_v of_o it_o it_o be_v a_o holy_a work_n and_o course_n of_o a_o believe_a person_n wherein_o he_o do_v depend_v on_o christ_n and_o christ_n to_o live_v by_o faith_n in_o christ_n make_v use_n of_o h●m_n for_o all_o the_o condition_n and_o exigency_n of_o the_o soul_n about_o its_o spiritual_a state_n for_o the_o open_n of_o this_o description_n i_o will_v touch_v upon_o three_o thing_n 1._o the_o particular_a condition_n and_o exigency_n of_o the_o soul_n by_o reason_n thing_n three_o thing_n of_o which_o it_o have_v need_v to_o live_v by_o faith_n 2._o the_o fullness_n and_o fitness_n and_o fidelity_n of_o christ_n for_o the_o supply_n and_o help_v of_o a_o believe_a soul_n 3._o the_o conjunction_n of_o both_o these_o together_o which_o be_v the_o very_a live_n by_o faith_n on_o christ_n fi●st_a the_o particular_a condition_n and_o exigency_n of_o the_o soul_n you_o must_v know_v this_o that_o to_o live_v by_o faith_n presuppose_v two_o thing_n on_o our_o part_n defect_n and_o insufficiency_n there_o be_v something_o lie_v upon_o we_o which_o shall_v not_o and_o we_o can_v help_v ourselves_o and_o therefore_o we_o go_v abroad_o by_o faith_n this_o be_v to_o live_v upon_o the_o market_n now_o there_o be_v many_o thing_n which_o lie_v upon_o our_o soul_n 1._o the_o sense_n of_o guilt_n this_o be_v a_o great_a matter_n it_o make_v the_o very_a heart_n ofttimes_o to_o tremble_v it_o be_v a_o heavy_a burden_n when_o a_o man_n sin_n against_o a_o holy_a and_o just_a god_n the_o least_o of_o they_o provoke_v and_o damnable_a this_o be_v a_o time_n of_o trouble_n for_o a_o man_n see_v much_o in_o debt_n and_o nothing_o in_o stock_n he_o be_v not_o able_a to_o pay_v a●_n farthing_n all_o that_o he_o be_v or_o can_v do_v can_v never_o answer_v divine_a justice_n this_o be_v one_o exigence_n now_o which_o make_v a_o man_n capable_a to_o live_v by_o faith_n to_o look_v out_o to_o christ_n and_o to_o try_v what_o he_o will_v do_v for_o he_o a_o miserable_a sinner_n as_o you_o shall_v hear_v anon_o 2._o the_o sense_n of_o unrighteousness_n why_o god_n require_v a_o holy_a conformity_n to_o his_o divine_a will_n in_o heart_n and_o in_o life_n that_o our_o nature_n shall_v be_v as_o he_o require_v and_o our_o way_n as_o he_o command_v but_o when_o the_o soul_n be_v able_a active_o to_o reflect_v on_o itself_o and_o look_v on_o god_n
