put_v on_o jesus_n christ_n i._n e._n to_o get_v union_n with_o he_o by_o faith_n whilst_o he_o be_v yet_o hold_v forth_o in_o the_o free_a and_o gracious_a tender_n of_o the_o gospel_n to_o which_o purpose_n i_o shall_v now_o labour_v in_o this_o general_a use_n of_o exhortation_n in_o which_o my_o last_o subject_n engage_v i_o wherein_o divers_a argument_n will_v be_v further_o urge_v both_o among_o which_o christ_n as_o the_o physician_n of_o soul_n come_v under_o our_o first_o consideration_n in_o the_o text_n before_o we_o the_o occasion_n of_o these_o word_n of_o christ_n be_v the_o call_n of_o matthew_n the_o publican_n who_o have_v first_o open_v his_o heart_n next_o open_v his_o house_n to_o christ_n and_o entertain_v he_o there_o this_o strange_a and_o unexpected_a change_n wrought_v upon_o matthew_n quick_o ring_v in_o all_o the_o neighbourhood_n and_o many_o publican_n and_o sinner_n resort_v thither_o at_o which_o the_o stomach_n of_o the_o proud_a pharisee_n begin_v to_o swell_v from_o this_o occasion_n they_o take_v offence_n at_o christ_n and_o in_o this_o verse_n christ_n take_v off_o the_o offence_n by_o such_o a_o answer_n as_o be_v fit_v both_o for_o their_o conviction_n and_o his_o own_o vindication_n but_o when_o jesus_n hear_v that_o he_o say_v unto_o they_o the_o whole_a have_v no_o need_n of_o a_o physician_n but_o they_o that_o be_v sick_a he_o give_v it_o say_v one_o as_o a_o reason_n why_o he_o converse_v so_o much_o with_o publican_n and_o sinner_n and_o so_o little_a among_o the_o pharisee_n because_o there_o be_v more_o work_n for_o he_o man_n set_v up_o where_o they_o think_v trade_n will_v be_v quick_a christ_n come_v to_o be_v a_o physician_n to_o sick_a soul_n pharisees_n be_v so_o well_o in_o their_o own_o conceit_n that_o christ_n see_v he_o shall_v have_v little_a to_o do_v among_o they_o and_o so_o he_o apply_v himself_o to_o those_o who_o be_v more_o sensible_a of_o their_o sickness_n in_o the_o word_n we_o have_v a_o account_n of_o the_o temper_n and_o state_n both_o of_o 1._o the_o secure_a and_o unconvinced_a sinner_n 2._o the_o humble_a and_o convince_v and_o 3._o of_o the_o carriage_n of_o christ_n
