as_o much_o power_n before_o and_o be_v as_o able_a and_o as_o hungry_a before_o but_o the_o lord_n stop_v their_o mouth_n that_o they_o can_v not_o devour_v daniel_n just_o so_o it_o be_v with_o the_o sin_n of_o the_o penitent_a and_o the_o sin_n of_o the_o impenitent_a the_o sin_n of_o the_o one_o though_o they_o be_v of_o a_o kill_a and_o a_o lion-like_o nature_n for_o the_o wage_n of_o every_o sin_n be_v death_n and_o there_o be_v condemnation_n in_o it_o yet_o the_o lord_n stop_v the_o mouth_n of_o the_o lion_n he_o take_v off_o the_o guilt_n and_o condemn_a power_n of_o sin_n that_o though_o it_o have_v power_n in_o itself_o to_o condemn_v yet_o it_o can_v do_v it_o but_o now_o when_o it_o meet_v with_o a_o impenitent_a unbeliever_n the_o malice_n of_o the_o malicious_a shall_v kill_v he_o and_o the_o pride_n of_o the_o ambitious_a shall_v one_o day_n rend_v his_o heart_n but_o it_o be_v not_o so_o with_o the_o sin_n of_o the_o penitent_a believer_n their_o sin_n have_v tooth_n indeed_o and_o power_n to_o make_v a_o man_n worthy_a of_o condemnation_n but_o they_o shall_v never_o fasten_v condemnation_n upon_o he_o this_o be_v the_o meaning_n of_o that_o place_n romans_z 8.3_o that_o which_o be_v impossible_a to_o the_o law_n to_o do_v in_o as_o much_o as_o it_o be_v weak_a because_o of_o the_o flesh_n god_n send_v his_o only_a son_n in_o the_o similitude_n of_o sinful_a flesh_n and_o for_o sin_n condemn_a sin_n in_o the_o flesh_n it_o be_v a_o excellent_a place_n and_o have_v much_o weight_n in_o it_o and_o howsoever_o there_o be_v many_o interpretation_n of_o the_o place_n yet_o i_o will_v follow_v that_o interpretation_n which_o i_o now_o express_v that_o it_o be_v impossible_a for_o the_o law_n to_o acquit_v a_o man_n of_o sin_n because_o he_o can_v keep_v the_o law_n and_o therefore_o he_o can_v be_v justify_v by_o it_o but_o how_o come_v it_o to_o pass_v then_o that_o the_o saint_n of_o god_n be_v deliver_v the_o text_n say_v christ_n take_v flesh_n on_o he_o and_o it_o be_v sinful_a flesh_n by_o similitude_n or_o imputation_n not_o actual_o by_o commission_n the_o nature_n of_o our_o saviour_n have_v no_o evil_a inherent_a in_o he_o nor_o commit_v by_o he_o but_o he_o be_v only_o a_o sinner_n by_o imputation_n and_o then_o he_o condemn_v sin_n in_o the_o flesh_n what_o be_v that_o it_o be_v a_o law_n case_n and_o master_n calvin_n have_v it_o excellent_o he_o damn_a sin_n as_o a_o man_n will_v say_v when_o he_o lose_v the_o suit_n he_o fall_v from_o his_o cause_n and_o from_o his_o plea_n which_o he_o make_v he_o lose_v it_o utter_o so_o christ_n take_v upon_o he_o our_o nature_n by_o imputation_n he_o make_v sin_n lose_v its_o claim_n which_o it_o will_v make_v to_o the_o soul_n in_o this_o case_n he_o that_o break_v the_o law_n of_o god_n be_v guilty_a and_o shall_v be_v condemn_v by_o it_o but_o this_o man_n have_v break_v the_o law_n of_o god_n and_o therefore_o be_v guilty_a of_o condemnation_n thereby_o now_o christ_n take_v off_o these_o and_o say_v it_o be_v true_a he_o be_v guilty_a of_o sin_n and_o worthy_a of_o condemnation_n unless_o another_o be_v content_v to_o be_v unbeliever_n you_o must_v pay_v your_o own_o debt_n and_o bear_v your_o own_o burden_n i_o know_v your_o heart_n can_v but_o testify_v that_o the_o condition_n of_o such_o poor_a soul_n be_v very_o miserable_a it_o be_v that_o which_o sometime_o comfort_v a_o man_n that_o either_o he_o have_v good_a friend_n that_o will_v help_v he_o or_o else_o he_o have_v mean_n of_o his_o own_o by_o which_o he_o be_v able_a to_o relieve_v himself_o but_o he_o that_o have_v no_o relief_n of_o himself_o nor_o can_v expect_v noâ—_n hope_v for_o any_o this_o man_n sink_v down_o in_o sorrow_n because_o he_o know_v there_o be_v no_o way_n in_o the_o world_n to_o help_v he_o this_o be_v thy_o condition_n right_a thou_o that_o be_v a_o unbeliever_n what_o to_o be_v cast_v out_o of_o heaven_n and_o earth_n too_o this_o be_v miserable_a to_o be_v for_o saken_a of_o god_n and_o man_n too_o that_o no_o mean_n in_o heaven_n nor_o earth_n will_v stand_v he_o in_o steed_n for_o his_o good_a while_o he_o thus_o continue_v consider_v of_o this_o you_o that_o make_v nothing_o of_o the_o sin_n of_o unbelief_n though_o you_o have_v some_o care_n of_o other_o sin_n whither_o will_v you_o go_v for_o succour_v in_o that_o great_a day_n of_o account_n will_v you_o go_v to_o the_o saint_n they_o dare_v not_o will_v you_o go_v to_o the_o creature_n they_o can_v will_v you_o go_v to_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n he_o will_v not_o succour_v you_o if_o you_o go_v to_o any_o of_o the_o saint_n to_o see_v
alas_o i_o do_v it_o not_o it_o be_v the_o lord_n that_o wrought_v this_o heart_n in_o i_o i_o have_v see_v the_o day_n when_o i_o can_v have_v be_v as_o well_o content_a to_o hear_v the_o minister_n preach_v plain_o as_o to_o have_v a_o knife_n run_v to_o my_o heart_n but_o the_o lord_n wrought_v my_o heart_n to_o it_o therefore_o the_o spirit_n put_v that_o magnet_n stone_n of_o the_o mercy_n and_o grace_n of_o christ_n upon_o my_o heart_n he_o put_v this_o temper_n upon_o my_o heart_n and_o make_v it_o able_a to_o close_v with_o itself_o in_o the_o promise_n in_o 2_o corin._n 5.5_o when_o paul_n there_o have_v dispute_v of_o his_o desire_n to_o lay_v down_o his_o life_n for_o the_o gospel_n and_o to_o put_v his_o body_n upon_o suffer_v for_o the_o gospel_n sake_n he_o be_v even_o weary_a of_o the_o world_n and_o will_v fain_o have_v be_v go_v how_o get_v he_o this_o temper_n why_o the_o text_n say_v now_o he_o that_o have_v wrought_v we_o for_o the_o same_o thing_n if_o god_n who_o also_o have_v give_v we_o the_o earnest_n of_o his_o spirit_n it_o be_v a_o great_a while_n before_o we_o can_v be_v bring_v to_o this_o temper_n when_o all_o the_o minister_n tongue_n be_v even_o wear_v to_o the_o stump_n and_o the_o wicked_a will_v be_v wicked_a still_o yet_o the_o lord_n do_v work_v it_o so_o than_o you_o see_v that_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n by_o the_o promise_n work_v upon_o the_o soul_n and_o leave_v a_o dint_n upon_o the_o heart_n and_o so_o bring_v the_o soul_n by_o the_o spirit_n to_o close_v with_o itself_o in_o the_o promise_n and_o hence_o you_o may_v collect_v two_o thing_n for_o your_o information_n in_o this_o kind_n colect_v 1_o first_o that_o the_o believer_n be_v move_v by_o the_o stroke_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o the_o father_n be_v make_v able_a to_o close_v with_o the_o father_n and_o the_o son_n because_o the_o spirit_n of_o the_o lord_n do_v fasten_v fit_a and_o frame_v the_o heart_n hereunto_o in_o this_o manner_n and_o hence_o it_o be_v that_o the_o soul_n can_v close_v with_o the_o father_n and_o the_o son_n too_o why_o because_o the_o spirit_n which_o proceed_v and_o come_v from_o the_o father_n and_o the_o son_n be_v able_a to_o frame_v the_o soul_n to_o close_v with_o both_o for_o the_o spirit_n have_v something_o of_o the_o father_n and_o something_o of_o the_o son_n and_o therefore_o be_v able_a to_o make_v the_o soul_n to_o close_v with_o both_o 1_o john_n 1.3_o these_o thing_n have_v i_o write_v unto_o you_o that_o you_o may_v have_v fellowship_n with_o we_o holy_a john_n be_v a_o spiritual_a father_n the_o believer_n may_v be_v knit_v to_o the_o person_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n the_o foot_n be_v knit_v to_o the_o head_n by_o the_o continuance_n of_o the_o order_n of_o the_o body_n and_o the_o member_n thereof_o as_o the_o foot_n be_v knit_v to_o the_o leg_n and_o the_o leg_n to_o the_o thigh_n and_o the_o thigh_n to_o the_o body_n and_o so_o to_o the_o head_n this_o be_v the_o mean_v of_o that_o phrase_n john_n 6.56_o our_o saviour_n press_v this_o hard_a upon_o the_o disciple_n and_o say_v my_o flesh_n be_v meat_n indeed_o and_o my_o blood_n be_v drink_v indeed_o he_o that_o eat_v my_o flesh_n and_o drink_v my_o blood_n dwell_v in_o i_o and_o in_o he_o then_o they_o begin_v to_o wonder_v at_o it_o and_o to_o say_v how_o can_v this_o be_v and_o yet_o christ_n say_v what_o if_o you_o see_v the_o the_o son_n of_o man_n carry_v the_o body_n of_o his_o flesh_n into_o heaven_n you_o will_v think_v it_o more_o hard_a to_o eat_v my_o flesh_n then_o yet_o you_o must_v eat_v order_n of_o this_o union_n how_o this_o be_v do_v and_o there_o the_o question_n will_v be_v this_o whether_o the_o believer_n be_v knit_v first_o to_o the_o humane_a nature_n of_o christ_n or_o to_o the_o divine_a nature_n 2_o quest._n 2_o i_o be_o not_o great_o willing_a to_o meddle_v with_o this_o point_n in_o this_o popular_a congregation_n because_o there_o be_v many_o wise_a and_o orthodox_n divine_v and_o godly_a too_o which_o be_v of_o contrary_a opinion_n they_o confess_v both_o but_o they_o differ_v about_o the_o order_n but_o that_o i_o may_v bring_v no_o prejudice_n to_o the_o judgement_n of_o any_o i_o will_v short_o show_v you_o the_o sum_n of_o those_o argument_n answ_n answ_n which_o either_o side_n hold_v and_o will_v show_v to_o which_o i_o do_v incline_v and_o so_o leave_v the_o point_n to_o the_o judgement_n of_o those_o that_o hear_v it_o to_o incline_v to_o which_o side_n they_o think_v best_a and_o thus_o i_o shall_v wrong_v none_o at_o all_o first_o some_o divine_n wise_a holy_a and_o orthodox_n and_o many_o too_o do_v go_v that_o way_n all_o of_o they_o have_v it_o from_o that_o root_n they_o that_o hold_v that_o the_o soul_n be_v knit_v to_o the_o humane_a nature_n of_o christ_n first_o have_v two_o reason_n for_o it_o first_o say_v they_o as_o the_o scripture_n reveal_v christ_n to_o we_o so_o also_o our_o heart_n embrace_v he_o and_o close_o with_o he_o but_o the_o scripture_n reveal_v the_o lord_n christ_n more_o often_o and_o frequent_o in_o regard_n of_o his_o manhood_n than_o in_o regard_n of_o his_o godhead_n as_o in_o that_o place_n the_o seed_n of_o the_o woman_n shall_v break_v the_o serpent_n head_n and_o such_o like_a therefore_o the_o understanding_n first_o close_v with_o this_o and_o the_o heart_n first_o receive_v it_o the_o second_o reason_n why_o they_o hold_v this_o be_v thus_o much_o if_o say_v they_o all_o the_o great_a work_n of_o our_o redemption_n both_o sanctification_n and_o justification_n and_o redemption_n be_v wrought_v in_o the_o humane_a nature_n of_o christ_n and_o as_o by_o a_o channel_n convey_v to_o we_o by_o his_o humane_a nature_n than_o it_o be_v reason_n that_o the_o soul_n shall_v first_o close_v with_o the_o humane_a nature_n but_o it_o be_v so_o that_o all_o the_o great_a work_n of_o justification_n sanctification_n etc._n etc._n be_v all_o accomplish_a in_o the_o humane_a nature_n of_o christ_n for_o as_o the_o text_n say_v he_o die_v for_o our_o sin_n and_o triumph_v over_o sin_n and_o hell_n and_o death_n therefore_o say_v they_o it_o be_v fit_a that_o the_o soul_n shall_v first_o close_v with_o the_o humane_a nature_n of_o christ_n and_o this_o be_v the_o life_n and_o pith_n of_o all_o their_o argument_n again_o other_o divine_n and_o they_o be_v wise_a and_o orthodox_n they_o hold_v this_o and_o though_o all_o hold_v the_o main_a substantial_a truth_n of_o eternal_a life_n yet_o they_o differ_v in_o this_o they_o say_v the_o believer_n be_v first_o knit_v to_o the_o deity_n and_o they_o have_v also_o two_o argument_n and_o the_o first_o be_v this_o that_o which_o be_v the_o main_a and_o the_o proper_a object_n of_o faith_n to_o that_o the_o soul_n first_o look_n and_o to_o that_o the_o soul_n be_v first_o unite_v for_o all_o union_n come_v by_o operation_n in_o this_o kind_n but_o the_o godhead_n be_v the_o first_o object_n of_o faith_n in_o believe_v the_o godhead_n and_o the_o three_o person_n of_o trinity_n they_o be_v the_o first_o object_n of_o
and_o let_v your_o soul_n rest_n upon_o he_o with_o all_o your_o strength_n and_o unburthen_v thyself_o of_o all_o thy_o sin_n and_o the_o guilt_n of_o they_o and_o put_v they_o upon_o the_o lord_n christ_n commit_v thy_o soul_n to_o he_o and_o then_o for_o ever_o expect_v grace_n and_o mercy_n from_o he_o and_o resolve_v of_o this_o that_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n which_o be_v make_v they_o do_v and_o sing_v care_n away_o never_o to_o be_v trouble_v for_o nor_o affect_v with_o the_o burden_n of_o their_o sin_n and_o rebellion_n any_o more_o because_o christ_n stand_v charge_v with_o their_o sin_n therefore_o they_o may_v throw_v away_o the_o care_n of_o they_o thus_o as_o i_o may_v say_v with_o holy_a reverence_n they_o make_v christ_n a_o stale_a for_o all_o their_o sin_n eye_n full_a of_o tear_n and_o they_o think_v it_o unwarrantable_a and_o unlawful_a and_o therefore_o they_o grow_v careless_a of_o sin_n and_o fearless_o when_o they_o have_v commit_v sin_n have_v christ_n undertake_v for_o sin_n say_v they_o then_o why_o shall_v a_o believer_n take_v sin_n to_o himself_o this_o be_v the_o curse_a opinion_n of_o the_o familist_n there_o be_v a_o unspeakable_a and_o a_o unmeasurable_a measure_n of_o comfort_n in_o this_o doctrine_n for_o all_o the_o people_n of_o god_n and_o the_o other_o suck_n as_o much_o poison_n from_o it_o i_o have_v bear_v a_o
