be_v a_o person_n that_o rest_v upon_o christ_n and_o who_o duty_n shall_v be_v accept_v when_o yet_o the_o scripture_n say_v that_o without_o faith_n it_o be_v impossible_a to_o please_v god_n touch_v person_n trust_v in_o their_o grace_n and_o make_v saviour_n of_o their_o grace_n i_o affirm_v in_o like_a manner_n that_o where_o there_o be_v the_o truth_n and_o exercise_n of_o grace_n it_o defilement_n it_o must_v either_o be_v from_o some_o change_n or_o it_o remain_v what_o it_o be_v if_o it_o be_v from_o some_o change_n that_o it_o be_v defile_v see_v that_o this_o defilement_n grace_n and_o the_o exercise_n of_o it_o the_o truth_n be_v christian_n if_o you_o will_v be_v secure_v from_o spiritual_a pride_n be_v keep_v humble_a labour_v to_o be_v much_o in_o the_o exercise_n of_o grace_n fear_v not_o that_o the_o exercise_n of_o grace_n shall_v lead_v you_o to_o rest_n either_o in_o it_o or_o in_o yourself_o for_o it_o be_v against_o the_o very_a nature_n of_o it_o the_o rely_v upon_o and_o trust_v to_o for_o acceptation_n except_o we_o lay_v by_o grace_n and_o sincere_a duty_n as_o useless_a here_o when_o for_o my_o part_n it_o be_v a_o matter_n quite_o beyond_o my_o reach_n to_o know_v how_o or_o with_o what_o or_o in_o what_o to_o rely_v upon_o christ_n and_o his_o righteousness_n for_o my_o acceptation_n without_o grace_n and_o the_o exercise_n of_o it_o in_o holy_a duty_n for_o think_v i_o if_o i_o rely_v upon_o christ_n and_o his_o righteousness_n i_o must_v have_v some_o way_n in_o which_o and_o something_o by_o which_o i_o must_v thus_o rely_v or_o how_o can_v i_o but_o it_o be_v like_a somâ—_n man_n will_v have_v neither_o if_o both_o grace_n and_o sincere_a duty_n must_v be_v account_v and_o cast_v away_o as_o dung_n here_o o_o but_o say_v they_o you_o must_v beware_v of_o rest_v upon_o your_o grace_n and_o sincere_a duty_n for_o your_o acceptation_n and_o so_o of_o make_v a_o christ_n of_o they_o i_o answer_v for_o my_o part_n i_o do_v not_o fear_v this_o if_o i_o have_v but_o the_o truth_n and_o exercise_n of_o grace_n for_o god_n have_v give_v grace_n and_o draw_v forth_o grace_n into_o exercise_n for_o this_o very_a end_n that_o person_n shall_v rest_v upon_o and_o trust_v unto_o christ_n m_o diation_n for_o their_o acceptation_n and_o sure_o i_o be_o grace_v where_o it_o be_v in_o act_n will_v act_v according_a to_o its_o nature_n and_o this_o be_v to_o lead_v the_o soul_n that_o have_v it_o towards_o god_n in_o christ_n as_o its_o centre_n and_o rest_n and_o therefore_o if_o some_o person_n will_v amuse_v themselves_o and_o other_o unnecessary_o i_o can_v help_v they_o but_o i_o shall_v pray_v the_o lord_n to_o measure_v my_o faith_n and_o quicken_v grace_n and_o grant_v i_o the_o free_a exercise_n of_o it_o in_o every_o duty_n and_o then_o i_o know_v i_o shall_v be_v humble_a advance_v christ_n and_o rest_n upon_o he_o as_o my_o only_a mediator_n to_o obtain_v for_o i_o the_o grant_v of_o all_o save_a good_a be_v a_o party_n 6._o i_o believe_v say_v he_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n be_v make_v with_o christ_n the_o second_o adam_n and_o with_o all_o the_o elect_a in_o he_o as_o his_o child_n and_o seed_n as_o the_o assembly_n catechism_n say_v it_o must_v be_v grant_v he_o the_o assembly_n say_v the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n be_v make_v with_o christ_n as_o the_o second_o adam_n and_o in_o he_o with_o all_o the_o elect_a as_o his_o seed_n but_o if_o it_o be_v as_o they_o say_v then_o that_o which_o they_o call_v the_o grace_n of_o god_n manifest_v in_o the_o second_o covenant_n in_o their_o answer_n to_o the_o follow_a question_n must_v be_v give_v to_o christ_n for_o with_o who_o a_o covenant_n be_v make_v of_o what_o nature_n soever_o the_o covenant_n be_v to_o he_o must_v be_v give_v spirit_n to_o christ_n as_o the_o elect_n to_o work_v in_o he_o that_o faith_n with_o all_o other_o save_v grace_n and_o to_o enable_v he_o unto_o all_o holy_a obedience_n as_o the_o evidence_n of_o particular_a a_o article_n of_o his_o faith_n i_o will_v have_v this_o consider_v by_o the_o way_n i._n e._n do_v not_o christ_n free_o engage_v himself_o to_o be_v a_o mediator_n and_o so_o oblige_v himself_o to_o fulfil_v the_o law_n of_o innocency_n violate_v by_o man_n make_v himself_o a_o sacrifice_n for_o sin_n to_o satisfy_v god_n justice_n and_o so_o merit_v pardon_n and_o life_n now_o be_v any_o of_o mankind_n in_o this_o same_o covenant_n and_o bind_v under_o the_o same_o obligation_n with_o he_o if_o any_o say_v yea_o than_o they_o must_v be_v under_o obligation_n as_o well_o as_o christ_n to_o do_v and_o suffer_v to_o satisfy_v and_o merit_n christ_n if_o not_o then_o how_o can_v christ_n and_o any_o of_o mankind_n with_o he_o be_v in_o the_o same_o covenant_n for_o to_o be_v in_o the_o same_o covenant_n must_v needs_o be_v to_o be_v under_o the_o same_o obligation_n if_o it_o be_v say_v christ_n bind_v himself_o free_o to_o do_v and_o suffer_v all_o this_o for_o we_o the_o common_a root_n so_o in_o that_o respect_n they_o fall_v in_o he_o as_o the_o prime_a progagator_n of_o a_o guilty_a and_o corrupt_a nature_n to_o his_o posterity_n to_o all_o that_o be_v to_o proceed_v from_o he_o by_o natural_a generation_n yet_o that_o if_o adam_n have_v stand_v and_o have_v propagate_v a_o holy_a seed_n that_o this_o seed_n thus_o propagate_v have_v be_v secure_v in_o their_o stand_n by_o their_o parent_n stand_v and_o have_v not_o any_o of_o they_o fall_v this_o i_o want_v a_o word_n from_o god_n for_o its_o warrant_n i_o dare_v not_o make_v it_o a_o article_n of_o my_o creed_n let_v he_o find_v i_o a_o promise_n in_o the_o bible_n that_o run_v thus_o or_o to_o this_o purpose_n either_o express_o or_o implicit_o adam_n if_o thou_o keep_v thy_o stand_n he_o will_v say_v as_o he_o seem_v to_o intimate_v that_o god_n and_o christ_n as_o saviour_n and_o redeemer_n in_o all_o his_o office_n be_v we_o after_o the_o same_o manner_n that_o he_o faith_n christ_n righteousness_n be_v make_v we_o i._n e._n by_o god_n imputation_n or_o his_o account_v it_o in_o its_o self_n to_o be_v the_o formal_a righteousness_n of_o our_o person_n he_o implicit_o say_v this_o if_o he_o will_v say_v that_o god_n infinite_a perfection_n which_o be_v his_o essence_n and_o so_o god_n himself_o be_v make_v by_o his_o imputation_n or_o be_v in_o his_o account_n divine_a perfection_n or_o give_v unto_o he_o his_o divine_a perfection_n in_o themselves_o so_o as_o that_o it_o may_v be_v affirm_v of_o his_o person_n it_o have_v divine_a property_n such_o as_o execute_v those_o office_n in_o his_o own_o person_n be_v a_o like_a horrid_a blasphemy_n but_o now_o i_o will_v tell_v this_o man_n for_o all_o this_o that_o it_o be_v affirm_v in_o scripture_n
