be_v not_o only_o easy_a but_o be_v ancient_o celebrate_v in_o these_o word_n quod_fw-la tibi_fw-la â—ieri_fw-la non_fw-la vis_fw-la alteri_fw-la nè_fw-la feceris_fw-la do_v not_o that_o to_o other_o you_o will_v not_o have_v do_v to_o yourself_o xxvii_o but_o because_o most_o man_n by_o conscience_n reason_n of_o their_o perverse_a desire_n of_o present_a profit_n be_v very_o unapt_a to_o observe_v these_o law_n although_o acknowledge_v by_o they_o if_o perhaps_o some_o other_o more_o humble_a than_o the_o rest_n shall_v exercise_v that_o equity_n and_o usefulness_n which_o reason_n dictate_v those_o not_o practise_v the_o same_o sure_o they_o will_v not_o follow_v reason_n in_o so_o do_v nor_o will_v they_o hereby_o procure_v themselves_o peace_n but_o a_o more_o certain_a quick_a destruction_n and_o the_o keeper_n of_o the_o law_n become_v a_o mere_a prey_n to_o the_o breaker_n of_o it_o it_o be_v not_o therefore_o to_o be_v imagine_v that_o by_o nature_n that_o be_v by_o reason_n man_n be_v oblige_v to_o the_o *_o exercise_n of_o all_o these_o law_n in_o that_o state_n of_o man_n wherein_o they_o be_v not_o practise_v by_o other_o we_o be_v oblige_v yet_o in_o the_o interim_n to_o a_o readiness_n of_o mind_n to_o observe_v they_o whensoever_o their_o observation_n shall_v seem_v to_o conduce_v to_o the_o end_n for_o which_o they_o be_v ordain_v we_o must_v therefore_o conclude_v that_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n do_v always_o and_o every_o where_o oblige_v in_o the_o internal_a court_n or_o that_o of_o conscience_n but_o not_o always_o in_o the_o omission_n whereof_o provide_v it_o be_v do_v for_o peace_n or_o self-preservation_n seem_v rather_o to_o be_v the_o fulfil_n than_o breach_n of_o the_o natural_a law_n for_o he_o that_o do_v all_o thing_n against_o those_o that_o do_v all_o thing_n and_o plunder_n plunderer_n do_v equity_n but_o on_o the_o other_o side_n to_o do_v that_o which_o in_o peace_n be_v a_o handsome_a action_n and_o become_v a_o honest_a man_n be_v dejectedness_n and_o poornesse_n of_o spirit_n and_o a_o betray_n of_o one_o self_n in_o the_o time_n of_o war._n but_o there_o be_v certain_a natural_a law_n who_o exercise_n cease_v not_o even_o in_o the_o time_n of_o war_n itself_o for_o i_o can_v understand_v what_o drankennesse_n or_o cruelty_n that_o be_v revenge_v which_o respect_v not_o the_o future_a good_a can_v advance_v towards_o peace_n or_o the_o preservation_n of_o any_o man_n brief_o in_o the_o state_n of_o nature_n what_o be_v just_a and_o unjust_a be_v not_o to_o be_v esteem_v by_o the_o action_n but_o by_o the_o counsel_n and_o conscience_n of_o the_o actor_n that_o which_o be_v do_v out_o of_o necessity_n out_o of_o endeavour_n for_o peace_n for_o the_o preservation_n of_o ourselves_o be_v do_v with_o right_n otherwise_o every_o damage_n do_v to_o a_o man_n will_v be_v a_o breach_n of_o the_o natural_a law_n and_o a_o injury_n against_o god_n xxviii_o but_o the_o law_n which_o oblige_v law_n conscience_n may_v be_v break_v by_o a_o act_n not_o only_o contrary_a to_o they_o but_o also_o agreeable_a with_o they_o if_o so_o be_v that_o he_o who_o do_v it_o be_v of_o another_o opinion_n for_o though_o the_o act_n itself_o be_v answerable_a to_o the_o law_n yet_o his_o conscience_n be_v against_o they_o xxix_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n be_v immutable_a and_o we_o have_v declare_v above_o and_o which_o can_v be_v abrogate_a by_o any_o custom_n or_o law_n whatsoever_o xxx_o it_o be_v evident_a by_o what_o have_v hitherto_o just_a be_v say_v how_o easy_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n be_v to_o be_v observe_v because_o they_o require_v the_o endeavour_n only_o but_o that_o must_v be_v true_a and_o constant_a which_o who_o so_o shall_v perform_v we_o may_v right_o call_v he_o just_o for_o he_o who_o tend_v to_o this_o with_o his_o whole_a might_n namely_o that_o his_o action_n be_v square_v according_a to_o the_o precept_n of_o nature_n he_o show_v evil_a nay_o very_o often_o the_o same_o man_n at_o diverse_a time_n praise_n and_o dispraise_v the_o same_o thing_n whilst_o thus_o they_o do_v necessary_a it_o be_v there_o shall_v be_v discord_n and_o strife_n they_o be_v therefore_o so_o long_o in_o the_o state_n of_o war_n as_o by_o reason_n of_o the_o diversity_n of_o the_o present_a appetite_n they_o meet_v good_a and_o evil_a by_o diverse_a measure_n all_o man_n easy_o acknowledge_v this_o state_n as_o long_o as_o they_o be_v in_o it_o to_o be_v evil_a and_o by_o consequence_n that_o peace_n be_v good_a they_o therefore_o who_o can_v not_o agree_v concern_v a_o present_a do_v agree_v concern_v a_o future_a good_a which_o indeed_o be_v a_o work_n of_o reason_n for_o thing_n present_a be_v obvious_a to_o the_o sense_n thing_n to_o come_v to_o our_o reason_n only_o reason_n declare_v peace_n to_o be_v good_a it_o follow_v
by_o the_o same_o reason_n that_o all_o the_o necessary_a mean_n to_o peace_n be_v good_a also_o and_o therefore_o that_o modesty_n equity_n trust_v humanity_n mercy_n which_o we_o have_v demonstrate_v to_o be_v necessary_a to_o peace_n be_v good_a manner_n or_o habit_n that_o be_v virtue_n the_o law_n therefore_o in_o the_o mean_n to_o peace_n command_v also_o good_a manner_n or_o the_o practice_n of_o virtue_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v call_v moral_a xxxii_o but_o because_o man_n can_v put_v off_o virtue_n this_o same_o irrational_a appetite_n whereby_o they_o greedy_o which_o be_v apparent_o false_a for_o to_o dare_v be_v commend_v and_o under_o the_o name_n of_o fortitude_n be_v take_v for_o a_o virtue_n although_o it_o be_v a_o extreme_a if_o the_o cause_n be_v approve_v also_o the_o quantity_n of_o a_o thing_n give_v whether_o it_o be_v great_a or_o little_a or_o between_o both_o make_v not_o liberality_n but_o the_o cause_n of_o give_v it_o neither_o be_v it_o injustice_n if_o i_o give_v any_o man_n more_o of_o what_o be_v my_o own_o than_o i_o owe_v he_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n therefore_o be_v the_o sum_n of_o moral_a philosophy_n whereof_o i_o
