they_o be_v condemn_v to_o eternal_a punishment_n if_o they_o that_o stand_v so_o much_o upon_o their_o conscience_n do_v serious_o consider_v this_o they_o will_v find_v as_o little_a cause_n to_o hitherto_o give_v you_o a_o account_n of_o some_o of_o the_o vulgar_a mistake_a principle_n of_o quiet_a which_o our_o student_n be_v first_o to_o unlearn_v which_o be_v all_o but_o the_o patch_v up_o of_o a_o false_a deceitful_a peace_n condemn_v in_o the_o politic_n under_o the_o name_n of_o a_o syncretismus_n when_o all_o the_o faction_n in_o crete_n join_v together_o in_o a_o common_a danger_n which_o last_v no_o long_o than_o the_o cause_n of_o it_o like_o the_o bond_n of_o a_o hard_a frost_n that_o bind_v earth_n and_o water_n stick_v and_o stone_n all_o together_o till_o the_o sun_n come_v to_o shine_v upon_o they_o and_o then_o they_o all_o present_o return_v to_o their_o proper_a place_n and_o nature_n again_o but_o i_o fear_v i_o have_v run_v out_o all_o my_o time_n almost_o in_o these_o mistake_a way_n of_o peace_n i_o presume_v it_o will_v be_v a_o great_a offence_n to_o leave_v you_o here_o now_o then_o to_o beg_v a_o little_a more_o time_n to_o set_v you_o in_o the_o right_a way_n though_o i_o shall_v not_o go_v beyond_o the_o office_n of_o a_o mercury_n to_o point_v the_o hand_n where_o it_o lie_v there_o be_v the_o king_n highway_n to_o peace_n and_o the_o student_n private_a way_n and_o both_o good_a in_o their_o kind_n with_o the_o king_n way_n i_o shall_v not_o meddle_v as_o be_v fit_a matter_n for_o our_o thankfulness_n then_o instruction_n who_o have_v already_o pave_v the_o way_n for_o we_o by_o wholesome_a law_n for_o that_o purpose_n but_o because_o oft_o time_n vitia_n sunt_fw-la remediis_fw-la fortiora_fw-la the_o compulsory_a way_n by_o law_n though_o always_o necessary_a be_v not_o always_o effectual_a to_o the_o king_n way_n we_o must_v add_v the_o student_n also_o that_o every_o one_o in_o his_o particular_a make_v it_o his_o unless_o therefore_o we_o can_v be_v first_o persuade_v that_o we_o ought_v not_o to_o charge_v the_o church_n with_o either_o we_o do_v nothing_o for_o peace_n this_o i_o confess_v be_v the_o great_a difficulty_n yet_o if_o this_o be_v not_o do_v there_o can_v be_v no_o hope_n of_o peace_n and_o to_o do_v this_o i_o shall_v not_o send_v our_o student_n to_o the_o polemic_a school_n to_o convince_v he_o out_o of_o speculative_a principle_n of_o reason_n and_o divinity_n for_o to_o that_o study_n some_o have_v not_o capacity_n other_o not_o leisure_n i_o shall_v only_o commend_v to_o he_o some_o practical_a principle_n of_o religion_n obvious_a to_o all_o and_o deny_v by_o none_o that_o out_o of_o they_o he_o may_v learn_v not_o to_o dissent_v from_o or_o condemn_v the_o church_n of_o error_n to_o prevent_v the_o pass_a that_o sentence_n let_v the_o student_n 1._o study_v himself_o his_o own_o condition_n 2._o let_v he_o study_v the_o church_n against_o which_o he_o pass_v sentence_n 3._o let_v he_o study_v the_o nature_n and_o quality_n of_o the_o thing_n whereupon_o judgement_n be_v give_v 4._o let_v he_o consider_v well_o the_o manner_n of_o proceed_v in_o judgement_n in_o all_o which_o we_o shall_v find_v some_o know_a principle_n of_o religion_n to_o direct_v we_o 1._o first_o in_o the_o study_n of_o ourselves_o and_o our_o own_o condition_n religion_n teach_v we_o to_o have_v a_o humble_a lowly_a mean_a opinion_n of_o ourselves_o and_o not_o without_o cause_n whether_o we_o respect_v our_o understanding_n or_o our_o affection_n our_o understanding_n be_v natural_o weak_a imperfect_a shortsighted_a we_o know_v but_o in_o part_n the_o best_a of_o we_o and_o our_o affection_n too_o be_v disloyal_a to_o our_o understanding_n the_o heart_n of_o man_n say_v the_o prophet_n be_v deceitful_a above_o all_o thing_n we_o have_v little_a reason_n then_o to_o trust_v ourselves_o much_o in_o either_o he_o that_o be_v true_o conscious_a of_o his_o own_o weakness_n or_o
