have_v a_o power_n of_o election_n christ_n be_v no_o surety_n by_o nature_n it_o be_v none_o of_o his_o either_o essential_a or_o personal_a property_n and_o he_o can_v not_o be_v so_o by_o coaction_n for_o he_o be_v the_o eternal_a jehovah_n and_o therefore_o can_v be_v compel_v the_o apostle_n plain_o assert_v his_o full_a liberty_n in_o this_o matter_n in_o phil._n 2._o 6_o 7._o 2_o god_n the_o father_n be_v not_o absolute_o bind_v to_o accept_v any_o satisfaction_n at_o thâ—_n hand_n of_o a_o surety_n have_v the_o son_n offer_v it_o yet_o his_o suretyship_n can_v not_o have_v misery_n and_o can_v get_v out_o â—â—_o it_o again_o till_o it_o be_v buy_v out_o and_o rescue_v from_o it_o rom._n 5._o 6._o 2._o there_o be_v two_o sort_n of_o creature_n that_o be_v reduce_v to_o this_o exigency_n viz_o fall_v angel_n and_o man_n as_o to_o the_o angel_n which_o keep_v their_o first_o station_n though_o they_o need_v confirmation_n yet_o not_o redemption_n and_o that_o this_o confirmation_n of_o they_o do_v derive_v from_o this_o covenant_n to_o they_o be_v nowhere_o in_o scripture_n so_o much_o as_o insinuate_v but_o those_o once_o angel_n now_o devil_n be_v become_v miserable_a by_o their_o woeful_a revolt_n from_o god_n be_v fall_v under_o a_o righteous_a condemnation_n and_o therefore_o they_o so_o far_o need_v redemption_n as_o that_o without_o it_o they_o must_v needs_o be_v eternal_o miserable_a and_o all_o mankind_n be_v by_o the_o apostasy_n come_v under_o this_o infelicity_n they_o be_v a_o company_n of_o dead_a creature_n by_o virtue_n of_o that_o sin_n the_o gild_n whereof_o lie_v heavy_a upon_o they_o rom._n 5._o 12._o 3._o the_o fall_v angel_n or_o devil_n stand_v no_o way_n relate_v unto_o this_o covenant_n but_o only_a man_n god_n never_o think_v of_o or_o contrive_v a_o way_n for_o the_o jayl-delivery_n of_o devil_n but_o have_v leave_v they_o hopeless_o under_o the_o sentence_n which_o fall_v upon_o they_o when_o they_o rebel_v far_o there_o be_v some_o benefit_n to_o redound_v from_o it_o to_o mankind_n i_o here_o dispute_v not_o but_o that_o christ_n become_v surety_n to_o pay_v the_o price_n for_o all_o be_v not_o to_o be_v believe_v as_o to_o the_o notion_n or_o distinction_n of_o his_o redeem_n all_o sufficient_o and_o only_o some_o effectual_o it_o can_v be_v reconcile_v to_o sense_n how_o then_o shall_v it_o that_o end_n and_o therefore_o all_o that_o be_v so_o covenant_v for_o must_v certain_o attain_v it_o or_o else_o the_o covenant_n so_o far_o lose_v its_o design_n this_o therefore_o be_v that_o which_o christ_n intercede_v for_o in_o behalf_n of_o those_o who_o he_o have_v redeem_a joh._n 17._o 24._o these_o be_v they_o who_o his_o father_n give_v he_o that_o he_o may_v redeem_v they_o 5_o that_o those_o who_o he_o covenant_v for_o be_v a_o definite_a company_n of_o particular_a person_n not_o only_o be_v the_o number_n of_o they_o agree_v upon_o in_o this_o transaction_n but_o the_o
