mind_n and_o will_n of_o god_n what_o he_o will_v have_v we_o to_o do_v and_o to_o believe_v see_v that_o all_o this_o be_v full_o make_v know_v by_o christ_n jesus_n in_o his_o gospel_n who_o be_v send_v on_o purpose_n to_o make_v know_v the_o most_o perfect_a will_n of_o god_n and_o do_v at_o the_o first_o in_o a_o most_o plentiful_a manner_n send_v down_o his_o gift_n and_o endowment_n upon_o man_n to_o fitthem_n for_o the_o same_o work_n which_o himself_o have_v lay_v the_o foundation_n of_o so_o that_o there_o can_v be_v no_o frequent_a need_n and_o occasion_n for_o extraordinary_a revelation_n and_o motion_n if_o there_o be_v any_o thing_n yet_o remain_v of_o a_o extraordinary_a nature_n there_o may_v be_v expect_v extraordinary_a assistance_n but_o for_o our_o ordinary_a duty_n belong_v to_o a_o christian_a life_n and_o to_o the_o keep_n of_o the_o command_v of_o god_n to_o the_o glorify_v of_o god_n our_o heavenly_a father_n and_o for_o the_o walk_a worthy_a of_o such_o a_o call_v as_o we_o be_v call_v unto_o we_o be_v to_o learn_v from_o the_o scripture_n and_o to_o give_v ourselves_o to_o the_o study_n of_o they_o with_o understanding_n and_o judgement_n learning_n and_o draw_v our_o duty_n from_o they_o together_o with_o the_o spiritual_a nature_n excellency_n and_o dignity_n of_o the_o thing_n we_o be_v to_o understand_v the_o thing_n of_o god_n and_o of_o eternal_a happiness_n and_o herein_o we_o have_v the_o promise_n and_o may_v expect_v to_o receive_v the_o help_n of_o the_o divine_a spirit_n in_o and_z by_o the_o mean_n of_o our_o study_n and_o enquiry_n only_o it_o be_v necessary_a we_o be_v sincere_a sober_a and_o considerate_a about_o such_o matter_n last_o suppose_v that_o which_o be_v not_o viz._n that_o such_o strong_a motion_n and_o impulse_n shall_v be_v vouchsafe_v and_o allow_v for_o the_o stir_n of_o we_o up_o to_o our_o ordinary_a daily_a work_n and_o duty_n such_o as_o prayer_n meditation_n devotion_n etc._n etc._n suppose_v i_o say_v that_o we_o need_v not_o go_v about_o they_o till_o such_o motion_n be_v strong_a upon_o we_o though_o this_o be_v true_a as_o it_o be_v not_o yet_o this_o be_v not_o the_o best_a nor_o the_o most_o excellent_a way_n of_o obedience_n nor_o of_o the_o performance_n of_o any_o duty_n or_o good_a work_n but_o a_o kind_n of_o weak_a low_a and_o childish_a obedience_n in_o they_o that_o will_v not_o can_v not_o stir_v until_o they_o be_v forcible_o lead_v and_o that_o can_v not_o upon_o the_o appearance_n of_o the_o reason_n necessity_n and_o occasion_n of_o the_o duty_n set_v themselves_o about_o it_o or_o know_v when_o to_o do_v it_o out_o of_o doubt_n it_o must_v be_v judge_v the_o most_o free_a most_o generous_a and_o excellent_a kind_n of_o obedience_n to_o do_v and_o set_v about_o our_o duty_n that_o we_o know_v to_o be_v so_o though_o we_o feel_v no_o such_o powerful_a motion_n nor_o strong_a inclination_n to_o it_o as_o long_o as_o our_o reason_n what_o in_o our_o knowledge_n and_o conscience_n we_o ought_v to_o do_v though_o we_o shall_v find_v ourselves_o unwilling_a or_o as_o we_o say_v go_v against_o the_o hair_n i._n e._n the_o present_a disposition_n inclination_n and_o temper_n of_o our_o spirit_n but_o if_o we_o must_v still_o wait_v for_o extraordinary_a motion_n and_o not_o many_o time_n go_v against_o our_o mind_n when_o they_o be_v contrary_o bend_v and_o indispose_v as_o too_o often_o they_o be_v what_o mean_v beside_o our_o own_o experience_n all_o those_o great_a charge_n and_o injunctions-pr_a upon_o we_o to_o stir_v up_o ourselves_o to_o gird_v up_o the_o loin_n of_o our_o mind_n to_o shake_v off_o sloth_n or_o not_o to_o be_v slothful_a but_o vigorous_a follower_n of_o they_o and_o of_o that_o which_o be_v good_a to_o be_v intent_n and_o earnest_n in_o it_o though_o we_o have_v aversation_n and_o indisposition_n to_o it_o etc._n etc._n now_o may_v not_o all_o see_v that_o this_o be_v the_o most_o free_a the_o most_o excellent_a generous_a reasonable_a and_o consequent_o the_o most_o acceptable_a and_o well-pleasing_a way_n of_o obedience_n in_o which_o not_o follow_v our_o natural_a or_o ill_a disposition_n or_o indisposition_n we_o pursue_v what_o according_a to_o the_o divine_a law_n and_o our_o duty_n we_o be_v bind_v to_o do_v whether_o it_o go_v with_o we_o or_o against_o we_o and_o the_o more_o we_o deny_v ourselves_o and_o go_v against_o ourselves_o the_o more_o we_o show_v of_o reason_n and_o of_o resolution_n and_o of_o entire_a devotion_n resignation_n of_o ourselves_o unto_o god_n and_o to_o his_o service_n be_v not_o this_o i_o say_v the_o most_o excellent_a and_o therefore_o the_o most_o acceptable_a way_n of_o obedience_n and_o performance_n of_o all_o religious_a and_o holy_a service_n i_o may_v add_v to_o what_o have_v be_v say_v something_o about_o the_o spirit_n of_o phanaticism_n as_o to_o opinion_n and_o tenet_n in_o religion_n and_o matter_n of_o faith_n and_o doctrine_n some_o sometime_o take_v up_o new_a and_o strange_a doctrine_n mere_o upon_o the_o account_n of_o some_o present_a strong_a motion_n and_o persuasion_n that_o be_v upon_o their_o mind_n they_o think_v they_o be_v divine_o inspire_v because_o a_o thing_n be_v set_v home_o upon_o their_o heart_n and_o this_o conceit_n as_o wild_a as_o it_o be_v have_v produce_v many_o strange_a notion_n and_o opinion_n that_o have_v be_v bear_v and_o bring_v forth_o into_o the_o world_n by_o it_o the_o heat_n of_o the_o brain_n and_o the_o strength_n of_o fancy_n have_v be_v the_o parent_n and_o though_o upon_o no_o better_a a_o foundation_n many_o disciple_n have_v be_v make_v and_o the_o author_n have_v have_v many_o follower_n such_o be_v the_o beginning_n of_o many_o sect_n among_o we_o such_o be_v the_o first_o rise_v and_o beginning_n of_o several_a of_o the_o order_n of_o the_o romish_a church_n for_o the_o same_o spirit_n work_v both_o in_o they_o and_o sometime_o in_o those_o that_o will_v seem_v most_o opposite_a to_o they_o and_o whosoever_o will_v be_v at_o the_o pain_n to_o read_v history_n both_o civil_a and_o ecclesiastical_a may_v find_v not_o a_o few_o of_o this_o kind_n and_o if_o you_o will_v but_o be_v at_o the_o labour_n to_o read_v some_o piece_n write_v purposely_o on_o this_o subject_a as_o dr._n merrick_n causabon_n of_o enthusiasm_n and_o dr._n stillingfleet_n of_o the_o phanaticism_n of_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n and_o other_o of_o this_o nature_n you_o may_v have_v enough_o etc._n etc._n this_o wild_a spirit_n have_v seem_v to_o show_v itself_o most_o at_o the_o beginning_n or_o soon_o after_o the_o reformation_n or_o some_o change_n in_o religion_n as_o it_o be_v when_o man_n begin_v in_o great_a number_n to_o fall_v off_o from_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n and_o popery_n and_o at_o some_o other_o time_n since_o among_o protestant_n etc._n etc._n when_o man_n be_v new_o come_v out_o of_o darkness_n and_o ignorance_n and_o begin_v to_o see_v the_o light_n which_o not_o have_v be_v use_v unto_o they_o seem_v to_o be_v for_o a_o while_n in_o a_o maze_n not_o well_o know_v where_o they_o be_v nor_o how_o to_o six_o themselves_o and_o so_o run_v out_o into_o extravagancy_n of_o opinion_n and_o fancy_n without_o reason_n without_o end_n or_o else_o when_o they_o new_o come_v out_o of_o their_o former_a bondage_n and_o slavery_n wherein_o they_o have_v be_v tie_v as_o to_o religion_n and_o their_o conscience_n and_o begin_v to_o taste_v liberty_n and_o the_o sweet_a of_o it_o they_o often_o grow_v wild_a and_o extravagant_a so_o that_o no_o sober_a bound_n of_o reason_n and_o religion_n can_v hold_v they_o and_o feel_v the_o reins_o now_o upon_o their_o neck_n with_o which_o they_o have_v be_v pinch_v and_o too_o strait_o hold_v in_o they_o now_o run_v on_o while_o they_o be_v quite_o out_o of_o breath_n they_o devise_v new_a opinion_n and_o spawn_v new_a sect_n at_o no_o aim_n which_o thing_n consider_v may_v be_v a_o good_a caution_n and_o admonition_n to_o they_o who_o have_v or_o pretend_v to_o have_v the_o reins_o of_o ecclesiastic_a power_n in_o their_o hand_n and_o such_o who_o take_v upon_o they_o to_o guide_v and_o rule_v other_o in_o matter_n of_o religion_n and_o conscience_n this_o i_o say_v may_v be_v a_o admonition_n to_o they_o while_o they_o be_v in_o power_n to_o deal_v gentle_o with_o those_o under_o they_o to_o draw_v they_o and_o drive_v they_o as_o they_o
