if_o such_o a_o woe_n come_v upon_o the_o world_n by_o offence_n how_o may_v i_o come_v to_o know_v that_o so_o it_o may_v be_v prevent_v when_o the_o world_n be_v just_o offend_v and_o so_o offend_v as_o thereby_o in_o danger_n of_o this_o dreadful_a woe_n answ_n 1._o the_o world_n be_v just_o offend_v when_o professor_n by_o principle_n which_o they_o hold_v or_o maintain_v do_v put_v out_o the_o light_n of_o nature_n for_o the_o light_n of_o nature_n be_v a_o light_n that_o the_o heathen_n have_v rom._n 2._o and_o possible_o a_o mere_a natural_a man_n that_o have_v no_o work_n of_o the_o light_n of_o nature_n will_v tell_v such_o a_o loose_a professor_n such_o a_o atheist_n i_o shall_v say_v that_o his_o principle_n be_v a_o lie_n and_o he_o be_v a_o liar_n for_o when_o he_o behold_v the_o creature_n and_o thing_n that_o be_v make_v the_o light_n of_o nature_n dictate_v to_o he_o that_o he_o can_v never_o make_v it_o and_o that_o therefore_o there_o must_v be_v a_o almighty_a power_n by_o which_o these_o thing_n be_v make_v be_v order_v and_o govern_v etc._n etc._n again_o if_o a_o professor_n maintain_v such_o a_o principle_n that_o there_o be_v no_o need_n of_o prayer_n etc._n etc._n worship_v god_n in_o such_o a_o way_n the_o light_n of_o nature_n will_v tell_v he_o that_o it_o be_v a_o lie_n for_o the_o light_n of_o nature_n teach_v this_o that_o eternal_a condition_n and_o their_o great_a distance_n from_o assurance_n take_v their_o rise_n hence_o because_o they_o do_v not_o clear_o understand_v or_o be_v not_o thorough_o persuade_v that_o the_o way_n of_o god_n make_v over_o himself_o unto_o soul_n be_v the_o way_n of_o a_o promise_n that_o a_o covenant_n be_v that_o whereby_o the_o lord_n give_v we_o hold_v of_o himself_o in_o this_o life_n and_o whereby_o he_o give_v we_o assurance_n of_o all_o the_o blessing_n which_o be_v to_o be_v enjoy_v in_o another_o and_o a_o better_a life_n be_v they_o hearty_o and_o explicit_o convince_v that_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o god_n which_o they_o be_v to_o look_v for_o here_o must_v be_v by_o faith_n and_o so_o through_o the_o glass_n of_o a_o promise_n than_o they_o may_v find_v that_o they_o have_v have_v many_o such_o enjoyment_n of_o god_n which_o they_o have_v overlook_v the_o great_a temptation_n of_o this_o age_n be_v to_o look_v more_o to_o a_o life_n of_o sense_n and_o feeling_n than_o to_o a_o life_n of_o faith_n to_o look_v more_o to_o a_o christ_n within_o than_o in_o the_o way_n of_o a_o promise_n to_o a_o christ_n without_o many_o will_v own_v none_o as_o enjoyment_n of_o god_n but_o inward_a feel_n of_o support_n quickening_n enlargement_n consolation_n etc._n etc._n it_o be_v no_o long_o than_o they_o enjoy_v these_o that_o they_o think_v they_o enjoy_v god_n whereas_o they_o ought_v to_o let_v out_o their_o heart_n in_o the_o way_n of_o a_o promise_n to_o god_n through_o christ_n for_o such_o mercy_n when_o they_o be_v under_o the_o deep_a sense_n of_o the_o want_n of_o they_o and_o there_o be_v as_o real_a enjoyment_n of_o god_n in_o such_o out-going_n of_o the_o heart_n to_o god_n as_o in_o those_o sensible_a incomming_o of_o joy_n and_o comfort_n the_o poor_a which_o beg_v all_o the_o world_n over_o not_o so_o it_o show_v that_o it_o be_v give_v to_o such_o as_o be_v in_o the_o state_n of_o beggar_n but_o it_o follow_v not_o that_o all_o those_o all_o the_o world_n over_o who_o be_v in_o that_o state_n have_v a_o right_a hereto_o so_o likewise_o suppose_v a_o thousand_o person_n be_v condemn_v some_o for_o treason_n and_o some_o for_o other_o misdemeanour_n the_o prince_n or_o judge_n send_v a_o pardon_n among_o they_o to_o be_v give_v forth_o to_o many_o of_o they_o and_o therein_o be_v such_o a_o clause_n that_o none_o shall_v have_v benefit_n by_o it_o but_o such_o person_n as_o be_v traitor_n against_o he_o and_o condemn_v for_o treason_n it_o do_v not_o therefore_o follow_v that_o every_o one_o which_o be_v condemn_v now_o to_o speak_v a_o few_o word_n to_o the_o three_o thing_n quest_n 3._o what_o be_v it_o that_o hinder_v the_o soul_n from_o live_v by_o faith_n in_o justification_n ans_fw-fr 1._o our_o be_v ignorant_a of_o the_o nature_n of_o that_o dispensation_n we_o be_v under_o through_o grace_n ignorance_n of_o the_o nature_n of_o gospel_n dispensation_n therefore_o it_o be_v we_o live_v so_o little_a by_o faith_n the_o gospel_n be_v a_o administration_n of_o grace_n there_o be_v nothing_o in_o the_o gospel_n but_o grace_n pure_a grace_n all_o in_o the_o gospel_n be_v grace_n from_o first_o to_o last_o now_o we_o be_v ignorant_a of_o this_o gospel_n dispensation_n we_o be_v lead_v by_o the_o principle_n of_o old_a adam_n within_o we_o to_o look_v upon_o the_o gospel_n as_o a_o covenant_n of_o work_n or_o at_o least_o as_o partly_o grace_n and_o partly_o work_v and_o when_o we_o look_v upon_o it_o so_o we_o think_v we_o can_v have_v justification_n by_o the_o gospel_n unless_o we_o bring_v something_o with_o we_o and_o this_o hinder_v live_v by_o faith_n believe_v for_o justification_n the_o principle_n of_o old_a adam_n do_v so_o agree_v with_o the_o covenant_n make_v on_o sinai_n that_o we_o can_v seldom_o go_v out_o to_o god_n for_o justification_n but_o be_v ready_a to_o look_v upon_o god_n as_o stand_v upon_o mount_n sinai_n and_o stand_v upon_o that_o covenant_n and_o then_o we_o see_v a_o angry_a god_n a_o terrible_a god_n a_o god_n clothe_v with_o thundering_n and_o lightning_n and_o that_o make_v we_o think_v we_o must_v bring_v something_o to_o god_n to_o pacify_v he_o and_o so_o we_o be_v hinder_v from_o live_v by_o faith_n in_o justification_n whereas_o a_o poor_a soul_n when_o it_o come_v to_o understand_v the_o nature_n of_o the_o gospel_n that_o there_o be_v nothing_o in_o it_o but_o grace_n but_o pure_a grace_n than_o the_o soul_n can_v act_v faith_n for_o justification_n and_o go_v out_o to_o god_n for_o it_o as_o a_o poor_a nothing-creature_n when_o it_o see_v all_o be_v receive_v in_o a_o way_n of_o grace_n 2_o fear_v we_o shall_v presume_v if_o we_o shall_v go_v to_o god_n for_o justification_n as_o poor_a nothing-creature_n o_fw-la think_v the_o soul_n if_o i_o shall_v go_v to_o god_n as_o have_v nothing_o i_o shall_v presume_v this_o make_v he_o afraid_a to_o go_v to_o the_o promise_n whereas_o
