meat_n who_o judge_v of_o they_o by_o the_o taste_n and_o so_o take_v they_o to_o be_v wholesome_a that_o be_v toothsome_a and_o so_o on_o the_o contrary_a those_o meat_n unwholesome_a that_o be_v unpleasant_a and_o therefore_o the_o apostle_n tell_v those_o heb._n 12._o 11._o how_o they_o be_v mistake_v about_o their_o condition_n which_o be_v then_o a_o suffer_a condition_n no_o affliction_n say_v he_o for_o the_o present_n seem_v joyous_a but_o grievous_a why_o sense_n at_o the_o present_n can_v feel_v no_o good_a in_o it_o but_o afterward_o it_o bring_v forth_o the_o quiet_a fruit_n sinfully-sensual_a affection_n and_o so_o account_v that_o good_a for_o they_o in_o this_o life_n that_o suit_n with_o their_o lust_n and_o inordinate_a desire_n thus_o man_n come_v to_o be_v beguile_v with_o the_o appearance_n of_o good_a instead_o of_o real_a good_n most_o man_n take_v the_o word_n of_o their_o lust_n and_o corrupt_v and_o sinful_a desire_n concern_v what_o be_v good_a for_o they_o as_o samson_n say_v give_v she_o i_o for_o she_o please_v i_o well_o since_o the_o fall_n man_n rather_o consult_v with_o his_o own_o corrupt_a desire_n then_o any_o thing_n else_o and_o make_v they_o his_o oracle_n at_o which_o he_o inquire_v about_o the_o good_a and_o evil_n of_o thing_n and_o while_o they_o seek_v to_o that_o oracle_n it_o must_v needs_o follow_v that_o good_a must_v be_v reject_v under_o the_o notion_n of_o evil_a and_o evil_o look_v upon_o as_o desirable_a under_o the_o notion_n of_o good_a affection_n sensually-sinful_a be_v woeful_o blind_v in_o judge_v of_o condition_n chap._n iu._n have_v explain_v and_o confirm_v the_o point_n i_o come_v now_o to_o resolve_v some_o question_n that_o may_v be_v put_v in_o relation_n to_o the_o truth_n deliver_v 1._o question_v whether_o it_o be_v lawful_a to_o pray_v against_o affliction_n since_o no_o man_n know_v what_o be_v good_a for_o a_o man_n in_o this_o life_n and_o so_o in_o pray_v against_o they_o we_o may_v pray_v against_o and_o deprecate_v that_o that_o for_o aught_o we_o know_v may_v be_v for_o out_o good_a 2._o quest._n whether_o it_o be_v lawful_a to_o pray_v for_o outward_a and_o worldly_a good_a thing_n as_o riches_n etc._n etc._n since_o we_o know_v not_o but_o we_o may_v pray_v for_o what_o be_v evil_a for_o we_o 3._o quest._n whether_o our_o be_v ignorant_a of_o what_o be_v good_a for_o we_o in_o this_o life_n do_v not_o warrant_v we_o to_o undertake_v thing_n and_o adventure_v on_o they_o hand_n over_o head_n or_o at_o haphazard_n as_o we_o say_v or_o at_o adventure_n without_o any_o circumspection_n consideration_n prudential_n foresight_n or_o providential_a care_n as_o in_o marriage_n etc._n etc._n why_o some_o may_v say_v i_o know_v not_o what_o be_v good_a for_o i_o in_o this_o life_n and_o therefore_o let_v it_o happen_v how_o it_o will_n so_o the_o question_n be_v whether_o this_o truth_n do_v not_o deny_v and_o destroy_v all_o care_n of_o providence_n i_o shall_v answer_v to_o these_o in_o order_n 1._o quest._n whether_o according_a to_o the_o truth_n deliver_v it_o be_v lawful_a for_o a_o man_n to_o pray_v against_o affliction_n since_o he_o know_v not_o but_o that_o he_o may_v pray_v against_o his_o own_o good_a since_o some_o by_o experience_n have_v find_v it_o be_v good_a for_o they_o that_o they_o be_v afflict_a answ_n lie_v aside_o prudence_n and_o say_v if_o god_n see_v it_o good_a for_o i_o it_o shall_v be_v good_n thus_o for_o the_o three_o question_n chap._n vi_o the_o application_n 1._o it_o be_v useful_a by_o way_n of_o information_n if_o this_o be_v true_a that_o no_o man_n infallible_o know_v what_o be_v good_a for_o a_o man_n in_o this_o life_n why_o then_o it_o be_v not_o to_o be_v wonder_v at_o that_o we_o find_v man_n so_o woeful_o mistake_v in_o their_o judgement_n about_o condition_n and_o god_n outward_a dispensation_n the_o prophet_n speak_v of_o some_o that_o call_v evil_a good_a and_o good_a evil_n so_o man_n through_o his_o ignorance_n of_o what_o be_v good_a for_o he_o in_o this_o life_n be_v apt_a to_o think_v that_o condition_n good_a for_o he_o that_o be_v evil_a and_o that_o condition_n evil_a for_o he_o that_o be_v good_a we_o read_v job_n 11._o 10._o vain_a man_n will_v be_v wise_a so_o ignorant_a man_n will_v be_v think_v wise_a in_o the_o know_n of_o thing_n that_o be_v above_o he_o and_o beyond_o his_o line_n and_o that_o come_v not_o within_o the_o sphere_n of_o his_o knowledge_n though_o he_o know_v not_o how_o to_o make_v a_o judgement_n of_o condition_n yet_o he_o will_v be_v offer_v at_o it_o nay_o as_o confident_o undertake_v it_o as_o astrologer_n and_o gypsy_n do_v to_o tell_v people_n their_o fortune_n but_o we_o may_v say_v of_o man_n in_o this_o case_n as_o the_o apostle_n do_v of_o those_o rom._n 1._o 22._o profess_v themselves_o to_o be_v wise_a 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d they_o become_v fool_n so_o while_o man_n profess_v themselves_o to_o be_v so_o wise_a as_o to_o know_v what_o be_v good_a for_o a_o man_n in_o this_o life_n they_o have_v but_o show_v themselves_o fool_n as_o have_v appear_v by_o their_o gross_a mistake_n about_o condition_n the_o heathen_n of_o old_a though_o they_o think_v themselves_o wise_a yet_o show_v themselves_o fool_n in_o their_o opinion_n concern_v the_o chief_a good_a which_o do_v amount_v to_o the_o number_n of_o 288._o and_o such_o fool_n do_v man_n show_v themselves_o in_o their_o opinion_n concern_v inferior_a good_a thing_n and_o what_o be_v good_a for_o a_o man_n in_o this_o life_n but_o as_o the_o lord_n say_v of_o the_o custom_n of_o the_o people_n jer._n 10._o 3._o that_o they_o be_v vain_a so_o may_v we_o say_v of_o the_o opinion_n of_o people_n concern_v condition_n solomon_n speak_v of_o some_o eccles_n 7._o 10._o who_o will_v undertake_v to_o make_v a_o judgement_n of_o time_n and_o do_v ask_v why_o be_v the_o former_a time_n better_a than_o these_o but_o solomon_n tell_v such_o they_o do_v not_o inquire_v wise_o concern_v they_o i._n e._n they_o be_v but_o fool_n in_o think_v so_o so_o there_o be_v many_o that_o inquire_v not_o wise_o concern_v
