recreation_n at_o other_o time_n lawful_a and_o to_o spiritual_a service_n public_a and_o private_a these_o be_v the_o confess_v general_a duty_n of_o christian_n as_o to_o the_o sanctification_n of_o the_o sabbath_n we_o shall_v only_o offer_v some_o proposition_n for_o particular_a practice_n in_o reference_n to_o these_o general_a end_n 1._o that_o all_o head_n of_o family_n take_v care_n that_o no_o kind_n of_o civil_a labour_n necessary_a to_o be_v do_v which_o can_v be_v do_v before_o be_v leave_v to_o be_v do_v in_o any_o part_n of_o the_o sabbath_n for_o no_o work_n can_v be_v justify_v on_o the_o sabbath_n as_o a_o work_n of_o necessity_n which_o though_o necessary_a to_o be_v do_v may_v yet_o have_v be_v do_v before_o that_o day_n come_v 2._o that_o all_o christian_n will_v endeavour_v but_o those_o especial_o who_o calling_n in_o the_o world_n do_v not_o so_o much_o hinder_v they_o the_o evening_n before_o the_o sabbath_n to_o direct_v their_o family-duty_n as_o much_o as_o they_o can_v both_o as_o to_o instruction_n and_o prayer_n to_o prepare_v the_o several_a person_n of_o their_o family_n for_o the_o sabbath_n 3._o that_o all_o head_n of_o family_n will_v take_v care_n that_o on_o the_o morning_n of_o the_o sabbath_n they_o their_o child_n and_o servant_n rise_v up_o from_o their_o bed_n either_o as_o soon_o as_o on_o other_o day_n or_o at_o least_o so_o soon_o that_o the_o necessary_a business_n of_o the_o family_n may_v be_v dispatch_v and_o family_n duty_n perform_v before_o they_o go_v to_o the_o public_a service_n 4._o that_o those_o of_o their_o family_n who_o be_v not_o employ_v in_o any_o necessary_a work_n of_o the_o family_n while_o all_o the_o rest_n be_v ready_a employ_v their_o time_n be_v once_o ready_a in_o read_v the_o scripture_n or_o other_o good_a book_n 5._o that_o the_o head_n of_o family_n so_o order_v the_o rise_n of_o their_o family_n that_o morning_n that_o they_o may_v have_v full_a time_n to_o do_v their_o household_n necessary_a business_n and_o also_o to_o attend_v family_n duty_n in_o which_o we_o conceive_v it_o be_v the_o duty_n of_o christian_n that_o day_n to_o spend_v some_o more_o time_n than_o on_o other_o day_n because_o it_o be_v a_o day_n whole_o dedicate_v to_o the_o lord_n 6._o we_o commend_v to_o our_o brethren_n as_o part_v of_o their_o family_n duty_n that_o morning_n to_o instruct_v their_o family_n in_o the_o nature_n of_o worship_n the_o several_a act_n of_o it_o the_o true_a manner_n both_o of_o the_o outward_a and_o inward_a performance_n the_o morality_n of_o the_o sabbath_n the_o true_a way_n of_o sanctify_v of_o it_o to_o which_o purpose_n we_o recommend_v to_o they_o mr._n shepherd_n treatise_n of_o the_o sabbath_n clear_v the_o morality_n and_o mr._n bernard_n threefold_a treatise_n of_o the_o sabbath_n 6._o after_o the_o public_a service_n in_o the_o morning_n and_o dinner_n which_o we_o think_v that_o day_n shall_v be_v moderate_a we_o recommend_v to_o our_o brethren_n if_o they_o have_v time_n the_o call_n of_o their_o family_n together_o repeat_v the_o sermon_n hear_v to_o they_o or_o examine_v they_o about_o it_o and_o prayer_n and_o the_o like_a we_o again_o recommend_v to_o they_o after_o evening_n sermon_n and_o before_o supper_n 7._o we_o commend_v sing_v of_o psalm_n to_o our_o brethren_n as_o a_o special_a duty_n of_o the_o sabbath_n we_o find_v that_o david_n compose_v psalm_n 92._o on_o purpose_n for_o the_o sabbath_n we_o desire_v that_o our_o brethren_n will_v not_o omit_v it_o at_o least_o to_o do_v it_o once_o every_o lord_n day_n 8._o final_o we_o beseech_v our_o brethren_n that_o they_o take_v especial_a care_n of_o all_o within_o their_o gate_n on_o the_o lord_n day_n that_o they_o profane_v not_o the_o sabbath_n by_o unnecessary_a work_n sleep_n or_o recreation_n it_o be_v a_o day_n of_o rest_n but_o of_o holy_a rest_n a_o day_n of_o rest_n and_o therefore_o profane_v by_o labour_n that_o be_v worldly_a and_o unnecessary_a a_o holy_a rest_n and_o therefore_o profane_v by_o excessive_a sleep_a which_o be_v natural_a rest_n idleness_n or_o recreation_n which_o be_v but_o a_o civil_a rest_n 3._o have_v thus_o far_o offer_v to_o our_o brethren_n our_o thought_n in_o reference_n to_o their_o family_n we_o conclude_v with_o a_o word_n or_o two_o in_o reference_n to_o their_o personal_a conversation_n 1._o we_o suppose_v our_o brethren_n conscientious_a in_o matter_n of_o justice_n to_o remember_v to_o do_v in_o their_o calling_n to_o all_o as_o they_o will_v be_v do_v to_o to_o take_v heed_n of_o all_o gross_a and_o scandalous_a evil_n and_o shall_v only_o mind_v they_o of_o some_o thing_n which_o god_n require_v of_o they_o wherein_o they_o be_v to_o do_v more_o than_o other_o as_o have_v receive_v more_o from_o god_n and_o be_v under_o a_o more_o special_a covenant_n and_o obligation_n as_o also_o of_o some_o duty_n special_o to_o be_v practise_v with_o reference_n to_o these_o time_n wherein_o if_o ever_o christian_n be_v by_o the_o providence_n of_o god_n call_v out_o to_o a_o more_o win_a conversation_n and_o to_o a_o more_o prudent_a conversation_n fulfil_v
