receive_v the_o spirit_n once_o they_o put_v away_o these_o childish_a thing_n to_o live_v above_o the_o scripture_n and_o harden_v themselves_o in_o such_o a_o practice_n as_o this_o upon_o that_o notable_a scripture_n 2_o pet._n 1._o 19_o we_o have_v also_o a_o more_o sure_a word_n of_o prophecy_n to_o the_o which_o you_o do_v well_o that_o you_o take_v heed_n as_o unto_o a_o light_n that_o shine_v in_o a_o dark_a place_n until_o the_o day_n dawn_n etc._n etc._n hence_o say_v they_o we_o do_v take_v heed_n to_o scripture_n while_o we_o be_v ignorant_a until_o we_o receive_v the_o spirit_n but_o now_o what_o need_n have_v we_o thereof_o this_o place_n of_o scripture_n itself_o invite_v we_o to_o take_v no_o more_o heed_n thereto_o answ_n this_o text_n bear_v to_o many_o weak_a sight_a and_o prejudice_v christian_n a_o very_a fair_a gloss_n for_o the_o thing_n pretend_v but_o can_v we_o but_o stay_v a_o little_a upon_o it_o and_o take_v its_o genuine_a sense_n along_o with_o scripture_n as_o profitable_a in_o its_o command_n for_o obedience_n this_o error_n will_v strike_v at_o the_o very_a majesty_n of_o god_n and_o his_o divine_a authority_n in_o the_o holy_a scripture_n and_o therefore_o stick_v not_o to_o deny_v the_o command_n thereof_o they_o be_v not_o by_o any_o to_o be_v hear_v or_o hearken_v to_o as_o the_o voice_n of_o god_n and_o this_o i_o conceive_v upon_o a_o double_a respect_n as_o they_o look_v to_o the_o wicked_a and_o unregenerate_a world_n or_o relate_v to_o the_o godly_a and_o spiritual_a church_n and_o upon_o this_o dilemma_n because_o the_o command_n of_o scripture_n can_v come_v in_o upon_o we_o at_o this_o or_o that_o door_n they_o must_v be_v shut_v out_o reas_n 1_o with_o respect_n to_o man_n unregenerate_a they_o imply_v the_o command_n be_v vain_a such_o have_v no_o power_n to_o obey_v it_o and_o god_n can_v enforce_v or_o intend_v it_o to_o they_o who_o do_v nothing_o in_o vain_a reas_n 2_o and_o with_o and_o how_o shall_v we_o hear_v without_o a_o 10._o rom._n 10._o preacher_n obj._n but_o do_v not_o the_o scripture_n direct_o tell_v we_o that_o we_o shall_v all_o be_v teach_v of_o god_n and_o we_o shall_v not_o need_v every_o one_o to_o teach_v his_o neighbour_n answ_n this_o be_v the_o strong_a hold_n whereby_o the_o teach_n of_o the_o ordinary_a ministry_n be_v oppugn_v can_v we_o but_o that_o it_o be_v a_o branch_n of_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n 2._o christ_n be_v the_o mediator_n and_o performer_n of_o it_o for_o we_o 3._o christ_n promise_v the_o spirit_n for_o the_o same_o purpose_n even_o to_o lead_v we_o into_o all_o truth_n 4._o that_o the_o same_o christ_n when_o he_o ascend_v 4._o ephes_n 4._o give_v minister_n also_o for_o this_o same_o purpose_n 5._o at_o the_o same_o time_n when_o as_o he_o ascend_v to_o give_v these_o gift_n he_o send_v his_o spirit_n upon_o the_o same_o errand_n and_o therefore_o not_o likely_a to_o beat_v his_o fellow_n servant_n to_o general_a sense_n of_o know_v the_o lord_n therefore_o they_o shall_v not_o need_v every_o one_o to_o teach_v his_o neighbour_n say_v know_v the_o lord_n after_o this_o manner_n say_v know_v the_o lord_n for_o all_o shall_v know_v i_o etc._n etc._n and_o therefore_o to_o conclude_v the_o text_n forementioned_a speak_v not_o the_o ministry_n null_a but_o effectual_a god_n will_v not_o take_v away_o mean_v but_o make_v mean_n more_o prosperous_a by_o a_o more_o especial_a presence_n and_o help_n of_o his_o spirit_n god_n will_v teach_v we_o by_o his_o son_n christ_n will_v instruct_v we_o by_o his_o spirit_n and_o the_o spirit_n shall_v lead_v we_o into_o all_o accommodum_fw-la universal_a accommodum_fw-la truth_n by_o the_o faithful_a ministry_n of_o the_o word_n and_o observe_v prove_v the_o succession_n thereof_o make_v clear_a to_o you_o if_o you_o grant_v it_o to_o be_v the_o ministry_n of_o christ_n then_o be_v they_o not_o steward_n and_o what_o steward_n do_v be_v it_o
